China, Zimbabwe ink slew of cooperation deals

China and Zimbabwe have inked several cooperation agreements on finance, agriculture and tourism during a state visit by Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.

In a snub to Western nations who have imposed sanctions on leaders in the country, including Mugabe himself, China said the world must respect Zimbabwe’s sovereignty.

China to Begin Building Power of Siberia Gas Pipeline in First Half of 2015

Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli on Monday announced that his country would begin the construction of its part of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in the first half of 2015.

“The Chinese side has already planned to begin the construction of the Chinese part of the pipeline in the first half of next year. And we must use effort so that we complete construction and the beginning of the pipeline’s use in 2018,” Zhang said during the opening ceremony of the construction of the Chinese part of the pipeline, at which Russian President Vladimir Putin was also present.

After 10 years of negotiations, in May 2014, Russia and China signed a 30-year deal on the supply of 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China annually.

The 2,200-mile Power of Siberia pipeline running from the Chayanda oil and gas field in Yakutia will be used to deliver gas to Russia’s Far East as well as to export it to China. The estimated cost of its construction is 770 billion rubles [$21 billion].

Anthony Lawson : The Crocodile Tears of the Press Corps Crying: Freedom!

As we approach the 13th anniversary of the events that changed the world, forever, if seems appropriate to list some examples of what the mainstream media—with all of its freedoms intact, at least in those days—totally ignored or dismissed as being wild conspiracy theories. I’m talking about the most obvious anomalies regarding the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Even after the 9/11 Commission Report was released, how many so-called journalists questioned these anomalies? So I am going to redress that, in retrospect, with a short sample of some of the headlines that never saw the light of day, but should have.

Considering the enormity of the events and the fact that Benjamin Netanyahu went on record on the day, stating: “It’s very good. Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy....” Why was this headline not seen anywhere?

The 9/11 Triple Cross

Three major thesis are in competition concerning the culprit of the 9/11 attacks:

1. Islam Job: the official conclusion of the 9/11 Commission, blaming Muslim terrorists in general, and Osama bin Laden in particular;
2. Inside Job: the dominant thesis within the so-called 9/11 Truth movement, which accuses the American government, or a faction within the American Deep State;
3. Mossad Job: the rising alternative thesis within the community of truth seekers, which claim that the masterminds were a Zionist network close to the Israeli Likud.

‘If threatened, China could take serious action against US’

American officials claim the Chinese jet performed a 'barrel roll' - at one point coming within 10 meters of their plane. Beijing says it was keeping a safe distance and that American spy missions pose a threat to its core security interests, and could be considered as a hostile act. Every year the US flies about five hundred missions around China - as well as monitoring from the sea and from satellites. Andrew K. P. Leung - a China specialist - says Beijing could take serious action if it feels it's being threatened

Miko Peled # Zionism Must Go #Free Palestine, End the Occupation

Miko Peled talks of Changing the Conversation on Palestine.

"Connecting Gaza back to Palestine"

He began by saying: “To understand what happened in Gaza recently, you must go back to Balfour and to 1947”

“It is impossible to talk about Gaza, without talking about 1947 and 1948 and so on…”

He notes an attempt is being made to isolate Gaza from the rest of Palestine. Which is what Israel, the U.S. and the Europeans have been doing. By isolating it, they are stopping the solution.

Palestine is not Gaza and the West Bank. Palestine is the Galilee, it is Jerusalem, it is Jaffa and it is Haifa, it is the entire country, he notes.

The Peace talks and all these so-called efforts is an attempt to bring the Palestinians to surrender. But, the Palestinians will not surrender. And Hamas will not go away.

Hamas is an resistance organization. It was established as a result of a brutal Oppression and Occupation.

Will the US succeed in breaking Russia to maintain dollar hegemony?...

In this article we are going to look at what is arguably an even bigger reason, that was largely omitted in the earlier article, which is that Russia, in alliance with China, is threatening to bring an end to the dollar as the global reserve currency, which would mean the end of the American empire.

We are witness to the greatest struggle of our age – the battle to maintain global dollar hegemony, and with it US economic, military and political dominance of the entire planet – and this struggle is now coming to a head.

Enter Russia (and China), the biggest threat yet to dollar dominance. These large powerful neighbors have entered into various major currency and trade agreements in the recent past that do not involve the dollar, and therefore pose a serious threat to the dollar’s reserve currency status that left unchallenged would bring it to an end.

The congressman noted that various international organizations, such as the United Nations, have already described the Israeli attacks as “crimes against humanity”.

Mainstream media steps up anti-Russia propaganda on Ukraine

With regard to the goings-on in Ukraine, I have heard quite a few European and American voices piping in, saying that, yes, Washington and Kiev are fabricating an entirely fictional version of events for propaganda purposes, but then so are the Russians. They appear to assume that if their corporate media is infested with mendacious, incompetent buffoons who are only too happy to repeat the party line, then the Russians must be same or worse.

The reality is quite different. While there is a virtual news blackout with regard to Ukraine in the West, with little being shown beyond pictures of talking heads in Washington and Kiev, the media coverage in Russia is relentless, with daily bulletins describing troop movements, up-to-date maps of the conflict zones, and lots of eye-witness testimony, commentary and analysis.

Washington Sabotages Russian/Ukrainian Summit

On Monday, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko met in Minsk. It was their first official bilateral meeting. They discussed relevant geopolitical issues. Key is resolving Southeastern Ukraine’s ongoing conflict.
Putin urges doing it peacefully. Poroshenko’s continues war without mercy. He deplores democracy. He wants freedom fighting self-defense forces crushed. He wants unchallenged hardline rule.
He lied saying his visit was “to stop the bloodshed and to start the process of finding a political compromise. The interests of the people of Donbass should and will be taken into account.”
His actions speak louder than words. Peace is an executive decision away. He can make it by calling off his dogs. He can choose diplomacy over confrontation. He can order a ceasefire. He can do so straightaway. He can meet face-to-face with Southeastern Ukrainian leaders. He can respect their democratic credentials. He can listen to their demands.

The demand conveyed in the above box is plastered on top of the most non-Christian web site on the internet: CUFI, Christians United for Israel. Would that it would read: Christians United for Isolation of Israel, then it would offer a Christian message of a peaceful means to stop genocide in Palestine. The very thought that an organization could call itself Christian and demand that Christians support the wanton slaughter of children and mothers and fathers caught like animals in a cage and mercilessly shot to death borders on the actions of human madness. What ministers of god would dare such mendacity in Christ’s name? How abhorrent.

Russia’s Gazprom Neft to Sell Oil for Rubles, Yuan

The Russian oil company Gazprom Neft has agreed to export 80,000 tons of oil from Novoportovskoye field in the Arctic; it will accept payment in rubles, and will also deliver oil via the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline (ESPO), accepting payment in Chinese yuan for the transfers, the Russian business daily Kommersant reported Wednesday.

The Russian government and several of the country’s largest exporters have widely discussed the possibility of accepting payments in rubles for oil exports.

Last week, Russia began to ship oil from the Novoportovskoye field to Europe by sea. Two oil tankers are expected to arrive in Europe in September. According to Kommersant, the payment for these shipments will be received in rubles.

Gazprom Neft will not only accept payments in rubles; subsequent transfers via the ESPO may be paid for in yuan, the newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, the change in currency was made because of the Western sanctions against Russia.

Western sanctions push Russia, China closer; hurt dollar

y forcing Russia to conduct more business in the yuan and other Asian currencies, the U.S. may be speeding up the end of the petrodollar and giving China more prominence on the world stage.

As the West tightens financial sanctions against Russia over the conflict in Ukraine, Russian businesses are reducing their exposure to the dollar to minimize the damage from still tougher punishments. Many of these businesses have turned to the Hong Kong dollar as an alternative to the greenback.

Russian mobile phone carrier MegaFon said it will convert 40% of its dollar- and euro-denominated cash reserves into Hong Kong dollars.

The End of Liberal Zionism

The New York Times, Sunday Review, AUG. 22, 2014
Israel’s Move to the Right Challenges Diaspora Jews

Pushed to the political margins in Israel and increasingly irrelevant in the Diaspora, liberal Zionism not only lacks agency; worse, it provides cover for the supremacist Zionism dominant in Israel today. Liberal Zionists have become an obstacle to the emergence of a Diaspora Jewish movement that could actually be an agent of change.

Liberal Zionists are at a crossroads. The original tradition of combining Zionism and liberalism — which meant ending the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, supporting a Palestinian state as well as a Jewish state with a permanent Jewish majority, and standing behind Israel when it was threatened — was well intentioned. But everything liberal Zionists stand for is now in doubt.

VIRTUAL 9-11: Will the US & Israel Hack The US Banking System Computers and Falsely Blame It On Iran (or Syria or Russia or China)?

This gets Wall Street and Washington DC off the hook, because now the financial melt-down is an act of war, rather than the result of decades of Wall Street crime and corruption and the predations of Private Central Banks. Rights before weapons for Vietnam

Earlier this month, Senator John McCain indicated that it was time for the United States to consider selling lethal weapons to Vietnam after a 30-year embargo. The recent maritime standoff between Beijing and Hanoi over Chinese oil exploration off the central coast of Vietnam exposed Hanoi’s many strategic weaknesses.

Providing Vietnam with coast guard and maritime systems as a first step - and eventually radar, fighter aircraft and spare parts for leftover American military equipment - would bolster Hanoi’s strategic capabilities vis-a-vis China and give substance to the "comprehensive partnership" announced last year between Hanoi and Washington.

Sanctions rebound to hit Europeans

The West’s malevolent sanctions on Russia were not imposed because Russia had in any way affected the well-being, economic circumstances, territorial integrity or social structure of the United States or of any nation that jumped on the US sanctions’ bandwagon.

There was no question of enforcing sanctions because Russia’s actions anywhere in the world had impacted adversely on one single citizen of any Western nation. But they were imposed, anyway, just to try to make things difficult for Moscow and to try to ratchet up tension between Russia and the West.

Russia decided to hit back against US and EU sanctions by barring some US and EU imports. And why shouldn’t it, after such gross provocation? But there’s a definite downside for innocent people.

That is not true. Schools and hospitals are not struck by mistake. These are large buildings and Israel’s ability to pinpoint targets are demonstrable.

Why such hype about the Michael Brown killing?

I dislike ultra-racism, hyper-ethnic chauvinism and plastic patriotism as much as the next person.

Introspection is a noble value; criticizing one’s own people when they do wrong is a righteous thing in the same way that parents who admonish their children when they misbehave are trying to help, not hurt, their children.

Defending one’s own simply by virtue of their race, culture, nationality or religion is a negative attribute, and leads to extreme narcissism, nepotism and other nasty expressions.

But I also believe in honest and fair treatment, and that is scarcely to be found on the issues of race, racism and ethnocentrism.

Warren Buffett And The Chinese Are Loading Up On Hard Assets

In the last several years, Warren Buffett went out and bought the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad. He didn’t just buy some stock, he bought the whole thing, took it private...A railroad is nothing but hard assets. It’s right of way, mining rights adjacent to the right of way, rail, rolling stock, yards, switches, signals, buildings, it’s all hard assets. How does the railroad make money? It makes money by moving hard assets so coal, wheat, corn, steel, other kinds of freight, etc. So, railroad is the ultimate, its hard assets moving hard assets. It’s the ultimate hard asset play. Warren Buffett’s next deal was to go out and buy massive natural resources in oil and natural gas. And by the way, he can move his oil on his railroad. He doesn’t need the Keystone Pipeline. ISIS, Israel and US duplicity

Mainstream media wants us to believe ISIS sprung up out of a hole in the ground and became powerful enough to take over large cities without any assistance from the big powers. The ineptitude of that narrative is an insult to everyone’s intelligence.

The US government claims it has launched several air strikes against ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) militants in Iraq. These are the same ISIS militants that the US and its client states are supporting in Syria; the same breed and stock of militants they let loose like wild dogs to lynch Gaddafi and wreak havoc in Libya.

It is traditional US diplomacy to play a double game — on the one hand training, arming and financing terrorists to overthrow or destabilize non-compliant governments, while at the same time condemning those same malcontents when it is convenient to do so.

If this very reasonable and diplomatic approach to Europe fails, then Russia and China know that they must prepare for war.

Chinese Power Consumption Crashes: Lowest Growth In 16 Months, Tumbles 10% In Shanghai, As Much As 22% Elsewhere

When it comes to Chinese (or any other in these centrally-planned, fabricated days) economic data, there is GDP and then there is reality. And as the current premier of China himself has admitted, there is no more accurate indicator of real, not bullshit "growth", than China's monthly power consumption. It is here that another rather massive divergence from China's official data (which has the world believe China GDP rose 7.5% in Q2) has appeared. According to Economic Information Daily, power consumption in Shanghai and Jiangsu fell by more than 10% y/y in July, compared with double-digit growth a year ago, sources said. And it gets worse: other provinces, including Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou, reported a power consumption declines of up to 22 percentage points. One could almost say the Ukraine ministry of YouTube clips has been put in charge of China's GDP calculation.

Thanks to China’s insatiable appetite for oil—last year it passed the U.S. as the world’s largest importer—the country has become Iraq’s top trading partner. And while authorities have mainly issued broad statements of concern, it’s no secret what worries those in charge in Beijing: the risks the crisis could pose to its Iraqi-sourced oil supply and China’s three petro-majors, all active in the country.

China Is Rejecting GMO Corn and That Isn't Good for American Farmers

The industrial agribusiness has embraced GMOs in the United States, but it's having a serious effect on farmers. Most recently, China began rejecting a variety of genetically modified US corn, and the rejection is reportedly costing American farmers upwards of $3 billion, according to the National Feed and Grain Association. A rejection of US grain in China has serious consequences here on home turf, as the country is one of the top importers of US corn, and its demand is projected to grow. But not if GMOs are involved.

Has Clinton Made Her Second Pro-War Mistake?

Cease fire talks between Israel and Hamas have been extended for an additional five days.

The extension in the talks was made possible because Hamas is standing firm in its humanitarian demand that Israel lift the siege on Gaza, while Israel is feeling the negative worldwide vibes over its massive military assault.

The vibes are negative everywhere, that is, except in the U.S., where in an Atlantic interview, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared to kick off her 2016 presidential campaign with a ringing endorsement of Israel’s massive assault on the Palestinians of Gaza.

For his part, as the man who holds the reins of responsibility, President Obama has called a halt to U.S. Hellfire missile shipments to Israel until arrangements are made to clear with the White House all future transfers of Hellfire missiles.

Mourning Rubble for Gaza

I hoped that some might find value in this.

When darkness overcomes us

And Hope lies in the past

What in our hearts sustains us?

How do we make love last?

When our weakness overwhelms us,

And we watch as children die,

How can we breathe this still foul air?

What makes us even try?

The Beginning of World Shift

Russian Strategy in the Face of Anglo-American Imperialism
by Thierry Meyssan
Voltaire Network | Damascus (Syria) | 13 August 2014

Anglo-Saxon agression against Russia is taking the form of financial and economic warfare. However, Moscow is preparing for armed hostilities by developing its agricultural self-sufficency and multiplying its alliances. For Thierry Meyssan, after the creation of the caliphate in the Levant, Washington would lay down a new card in September in St. Petersburg. The ability of Russia to maintain its internal stability will determine the course of events.......

NATO is desperate for war

All hail Ukraine as the new Somalia; a fitting Frankenstein created by the exceptionalist Empire of Chaos.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is desperate; it is itching for a war in battlefield Ukraine at any cost.

Let’s start with Pentagon supremo, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who has waxed lyrical over the Russian Bear’s “threat”: “When you see the build-up of Russian troops and the sophistication of those troops, the training of those troops, the heavy military equipment that’s being put along that border, of course it’s a reality, it’s a threat, it’s a possibility – absolutely.”

Obama: Netanyahu “Too Strong” to Make Peace

In order for peace to ever occur between Israel and the Palestinians, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to be weakened, United States President Barack Obama asserted.

In an interview with the New York Times’ Thomas L. Friedman, the president said that Netanyahu was “too strong” and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas [Abu Mazen] was “too weak.”

According to Obama, in order for Netanyhau to come to the negotiating table and make concessions, the prime minister needs to feel more pressure from his cabinet and Israelis.

The president pointed to the fact that Netanyahu’s “poll numbers are a lot higher than mine,” which “were greatly boosted by the war in Gaza.”

Obama argued that “if he [Netanyahu] doesn’t feel some internal pressure, then it’s hard to see him being able to make some very difficult compromises, including taking on the settler movement.”

The mammoth global “free trade” agreement you’ve never heard of

'It is astounding that at a time when we are still reeling from the devastating consequences of reckless financial deregulation, our governments are negotiating further deregulation of the financial sector, solely in the interests of large financial corporations.'

Here's what we know: Fifty countries, including the United States, the EU nations, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Turkey, have been in TISA talks since 2012. The resulting agreement will set the terms for almost 70 percent of global trade in “services”: everything from banking and construction to telecom and tourism.

The public got its first glimpse of the treaty on June 19, when WikiLeaks published a draft of the agreement's chapter on financial services. It wasn't pretty.

BRICS are drifting away from US and European monetary structures

The BRICS countries (Brazil (EWZ), Russia, India (EPI), China (FXI), and South Africa) are slowly but surely drifting away from the 20th Century monetary and political structures setup by the U.S. (SPY) and Europe (EZU), as characterized by Russia’s G8 membership being revoked in the wake of the events in Crimea. The G7, as it is now known, is at odds with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, but that rift applies to the entire BRICS coalition — a group that seems to be growing stronger and more focused as leader of the Emerging Markets.

Boycott Israel: Now More Than Ever

It bears repeating. Committed ordinary people can make a difference. It’s the only way constructive change is possible. Bottom up alone works. Never top down. Israel’s day of reckoning awaits.

For many decades, Israel waged genocidal war against millions of defenseless Palestinians with impunity.

Accountability is long overdue. High crimes against peace were committed. Culpable Israeli officials must be punished to the full extent of the law.

The global boycott, divestment and sanctions movement for freedom, justice and equality works. Applying them with stepped up teeth more than ever is vital.

Russia, China Agree on More Trade Currency Swaps to Bypass Dollar

The Russian and Chinese central banks have agreed on a draft currency swap agreement, which will allow them to increase trade in domestic currencies and cut the dependence on the US dollar in bilateral payments.

“The draft document between the Central Bank of Russia and the People’s Bank of China on national currency swaps has been agreed by the parties,” and is at the stage of formal approval procedures, ITAR-TASS quotes the Russian regulator’s office on Thursday.

Currently, over 75 percent of payments in Russia-China trade settlements are made in US dollars

De-Dollarization Accelerates - China/Russia Complete Currency Swap Agreement

The last 3 months have seen Russia's "de-dollarization" plans accelerate. First Gazprom clients shift to Euros and Renminbi, then the UK signs currency swap agreements with China, then NATO ally Turkey cuts ties and mulls de-dollarization, Switzerland jumps in the currency swap agreements, and BRICS create their own non-US-based funding vehicle, and then finally this week, Russia's oligarchs have shifted cash holdings to Hong Kong. But this week, as RT reports, Russian and Chinese central banks have agreed a draft currency swap agreement, which will allow them to increase trade in domestic currencies and cut the dependence on the US dollar in bilateral payments. “"The agreement will stimulate further development of direct trade in yuan and rubles on the domestic foreign exchange markets of Russia and China," the Russian regulator said.

Obama Continues Psyop Against Russia, Threatens China, in Interview with The Economist

On the eve of Obama’s meeting with African politicians, he gave an interview with obsequious editors and reporters from The Economist. He used it to attack Russia and Putin once again. The objective was clear: To dismiss Russia as weak and irrelevant and so to drive other countries away from it, including China and the EU.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that Obama is becoming more and more detached from reality as days go by, which is very worrisome. Whether he is on some kind of min-altering drugs is something we will never know.

Theoretically, this is something from which the 25th Amendment was supposed to protect American citizens; a president who has become completely emotionally or physically unglued can be removed from office.

But who in Congress, and Obama's Executive team, would have the "male attributes" to do this?!?

Unfortunately, the short answer is no one.

China, Japan and Russia zero in on Latin America

The leaders of China, Russia and Japan all descended on Latin America in recent weeks, jostling with the United States to increase their influence, invest and tap into resource-rich markets.

The latest arrival was Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who on Monday was in Trinidad and Tobago, the second stop on a five-country tour that began on Friday in Mexico.

Abe’s visit began just as Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his tour, which included stops in Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba. Xi signed more than 100 trade agreements on the trip.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was in the region for a week from July 11, stopping in Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua and Cuba.

The United States remains Latin America’s top trade partner, but gone are the days when Washington could take the region for granted as its backyard.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As this economic evolution continues, particularly with Russia and China, watch the US dollar get dumped in favor of direct trade in the yuan and ruble.

China Cements Eurasian Trade Routes With Great Silk Road Revival:

When it comes to the rise of Eurasia as the ascendent axis set to oppose US global hegemony, conventional wisdom focuses on the roles of China and Russia. However, the changing geopolitical landscape is certainly far more nuanced than merely the "west" versus the BRICS, and as the following infographic from SCMP shows, China has been quietly working to recreate one of the most legendary trade routes, "the Silk Road", linking Africa to the Middle East (Iraq and Iran) to India, to Indonesia and all culminating in Beijing, while at the same time the reverse leg of the route goes to Kazakhstan, Moscow and ultimately, Germany. The purpose: "to enhance political and economic ties with southeast Asia and beyond."

There has been a subtle shift in Narendra Modi’s attitude towards Bangladesh. Although in his pre-election rallies Modi had threatened to drive out the Bangladeshi infiltrators, his foreign minister Sushma Swaraj hardly mentioned the topic during her recently concluded visit to Bangladesh. The reason is very simple. China is now spreading its influence in Bangladesh very fast and India does not want to lose the confidence of Hasina Wazaed, the prime minister of Bangladesh, who is always looked upon in New Delhi as a traditional ally.

U.S. Showing It’s Prepared To Go To War With Russia And China

“The Obama administration announces that it’s going to spend billions of dollars, that it doesn’t have by the way for unemployment insurance and job creation or anything else, but they are going to spend billions of dollars — tens of billions of dollars — to upgrade the stealth bombers that are used really, or only intended to be used, against the very advanced countries”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, Obama, if you really feel that way...

Here's your rifle, and here's your parachute. We ran out of the camo so here is a bright day-glo orange jump suit left over from Abu Ghraib. Watch your head climbing into that transport plane, and we will call Putin and tell him you are on your way to kick his butt all by yourself. But We The People know you are lying to us about Malaysian Airlines flight 17, just as you lied about Assad gassing his own people right in front of the UN chemical weapons inspectors, just like your predecessor lied about Saddam having nuclear weapons, just like previous Presidents have lied about torpedoes in the Gulf of Tonkin, Pearl Harbor being a surprise, the Lusitania not carrying military cargo, a Spanish mine in Hava harbor, etc. etc. etc. always with the intention of tricking this nation into wars of conquest.

And We The People are sick of it.

Our children are worth more than some stack of bank notes cowering in fear at the Ruble and the Yuan. If maintaining the US dollar as the global currency is that important to the bankers then put those owners of the federal Reserve into uniform and send them out to be killed and crippled.

We The People know how the war-scam works, and we will not be fooled by you liars in the Oval Office any longer. Fight your own damned war.

Chinese leader woos Latin America with deals

China's president pressed a charm offensive with Latin America on Thursday, signing deals with Brazil, meeting regional leaders and proposing a $20 billion infrastructure fund that highlights Beijing's growing interests in the region.

President Xi Jinping was greeted with a military honor guard in Brasilia by President Dilma Rousseff before overseeing the signing of a raft of agreements during a state visit.

Xi then met behind-closed doors with a dozen Latin American and Caribbean leaders, including Cuba's communist President Raul Castro.

After the summit, Rousseff said China proposed the creation of a $20 billion fund to finance infrastructure projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.

B.C. aspires to trade Chinese currency

In a bid to lure more Chinese investment into the province, British Columbia Premier Christy Clark has billed Vancouver "the most Asian city outside of Asia."

Clark told an elite trade delegation Monday that the province is ramping up efforts to make trade deals with Asian nations, in part by charting a route to build the first international trading centre for the Chinese currency.

"Most of the world thinks of Asia still, or calls Asia the Far East. We call Asia the West," she told about 80 senior business executives with the APEC China Business Council to Canada, which represents some of the largest private and state-owned enterprises in China.

Smuggled Syrian-made rockets based on a Chinese design have boosted Hamas' 10,000-strong arsenal which is dominated by crude homemade devices, officials and experts say.

If this were true (and not for one second am I buying this USDA Choice bovine excrement) then it means that Israel's starvation blockade of Gaza is totally ineffective. Israel has justified blocking food, medicine, schools supplies, even students' musical instruments into Gaza, all under the excuse that they are preventing HAMAS from obtaining military weapons.

U.S. welcomes Japan’s move to lift of ban on military intervention

The United States Tuesday welcomed a historic shift by Japan to expand the role of its military by reinterpreting the terms of the nation’s US-imposed constitution.

“We have followed with interest the extensive discussion within Japan on the issue of exercising its right under the UN Charter to collective self-defense,” State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said.

“We welcome the government of Japan’s new policy regarding collective self-defense and related security matters.”

After months of political horse-trading and browbeating of opponents, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said his cabinet had formally endorsed a reinterpretation of rules that have banned the use of armed force except in very narrowly-defined circumstances.

Under the new definition, Japanese troops will now be able to come to the aid of allies — primarily the United States — if they come under attack from a common enemy, even if Japan is not the object of the attack.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hundreds Of Thousands March For Democracy In Hong Kong

More than 510,000 people took to the streets of Hong Kong on Tuesday to demand greater democracy, organizers said, in what would be the largest demonstration since the city was returned to Chinese rule in 1997.

Police put the turnout at 98,600, according to local media.

China to Set Yuan Clearing Banks in Luxembourg, Paris

In its continued push to make the yuan a global currency, China’s central bank said Sunday it plans to designate clearing banks for its currency in Paris and Luxembourg, as the two financial centers battle with London to become the leading European offshore yuan-trading city.

The People’s Bank of China announced the move in two separate statements Sunday. It didn’t say when it would designate the clearing banks.

The French and Luxembourg central banks said Sunday they had signed agreements with PBOC allowing for greater cooperation in the oversight of their domestic yuan market.

The weekend moves are the latest salvos in the race to win a major share of business in cross-border transactions in the Chinese currency. Singapore and Sydney are also vying for a significant share of the global yuan market, which is expected to expand rapidly along with China’s fast-growing economy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Japan set for landmark easing of constitutional limits on military

Japan is poised for a historic shift in its defense policy by ending a ban that has kept the military from fighting abroad since World War Two, a major step away from post-war pacifism and a big political victory for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The change will significantly widen Japan’s military options by ending the ban on exercising “collective self-defense”, or aiding a friendly country under attack. It will also relax limits on activities in U.N.-led peace-keeping operations and “grey zone” incidents short of full-scale war, according to a draft government proposal made available to reporters.

The change will likely rile an increasingly assertive China, whose ties with Japan have chilled due to a maritime row, mutual mistrust and the legacy of Japan’s past military aggression, but will be welcomed by Tokyo’s ally Washington, which has long urged Japan to become a more equal partner in the alliance.

China aims to break U.S. hold in Asia with rival to World Bank

Beijing diplomats on charm offensive to rally support for new institution free from U.S. control.

China wants to set up a multilateral development bank in Asia to break the U.S.’s financial hold on the continent, the Financial Times reported Tuesday, citing officials familiar with the matter.

It said that Chinese officials have been touring Asia and the Middle East drumming up support for a new institution with $100 billion in capital, with a view to financing major development projects such as infrastructure. The FT said 22 countries across the region have expressed interest so far.

Such an institution would be a direct rival to the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, which China thinks are too much influenced by the U.S. and its ally, Japan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government would rather go to war with China than to see this happen.

There is only one, MINOR problem here; the American people are war weary, and infinitely more geopolitically savvy than when the US government went to war against Afghanistan and Iraq, and do not want any ore war, period, end of discussion.

War against China, to prevent its economic ascent, isn't a hard sell to the American people; it is a no-sell.

BP to sign US$20 billion gas deal with China

P is due to sign a 20-year Liquefied natural gas supply deal Tuesday worth US$20 billion with China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC), said BP's head in Moscow on Tuesday.

"BP will be signing a deal with Chinese CNOOC. It will be a 20-year term contract for trading liquefied natural gas (LNG) worth $20 billion dollars," said BP Group Chief Executive Bob Dudley during a press conference at the 21st World Petroleum Congress in Moscow.

In recent years the growth in demand for natural gas has led China to become the third largest LNG importer and to accelerate development of its LNG. China consumed 161.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2013.

News about the deal highlights the country's strong will for greater LNG imports for its urbanization and industrialization without having the environmental impact of China's power generation through coal.

U.S. prepares for awkward military engagement with China in Hawaii

The U.S. Navy has dispatched numerous ships to Hawaii as it prepares for Rim of the Pacific 2014, the world’s largest international maritime exercise. It will involve 49 surface ships and six submarines from 23 countries this year, but the inclusion of one — China — will get an inordinate amount of attention.

The People’s Liberation Army of China will participate in the exercise for the first time, sending ships that include the missile destroyer Haikou, the missile frigate Yueyang, the oiler Qiandaohu and the hospital ship Peace Ark. The Chinese were invited to join two years ago by Adm. Samuel Locklear, the chief of U.S. Pacific Command, and will do so now as Chinese President Xi Jinping pushes an overhaul and expansion of the Chinese military.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let us hope that cool heads will prevail, and that military professionals will act as just that; professionals.

Yes, the Chinese government and military have been much more aggressive in the South China Seas, but that is not the fault of these Chinese mariners.

Let us hope that there will be insights shared, and that the highest levels of cooperation will be expected, and given.

The US government is panicking, primarily, because of all the deals world wide, where the dollar is being dropped, and transactions are being done in the yuan, or in rubles.

Again, this is absolutely not the fault of Chinese Mariners, but is the fault of a really lousy monetary policy on the part of the Federal Reserve, which has cheapened the value of the dollar to the point of near-worthlessness.

"De-Dollarization" Continues - China Starts Direct Trade With UK

Following the initial de-dollarization meeting, there has been a slew of anti-dollar moves around the world (including Gazprom's shift of 90% of its clients to non-dollar payments). However, on the heels of the "anti-dollar alliance" discussions yesterday, DW reports that China would start direct trade between the renminbi and the British pound on Thursday. China's Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) confirmed Sterling and yuan would be directly swapped without using the US dollar as an intermediary.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Right now, it would make sense to both acquire small, untraceable amounts of silver coins, and identify those skills you can barter when the dollar goes under.

And right now, it appears to me that this event will be happening sooner rather than later; leadership in Russia and China understand, very clearly, that the one way to drive the US economy, already reeling, morally and fiscally, from these horrific pre-emptive wars, into oblivion, is to do every bit of trade possible without using the US dollar.

I would almost be willing to bet that we will see this trend escalate around the world, and rapidly.

Russia can switch to payments with India, China in national currencies crushing dollar amid sanctions - experts

The European economy, experts point out, still remains in the grip of a crisis, while China, for example, is prosperous. The West, including the US, has begun to curtail the profitable relations with Russia on the background of Ukrainian problems, which has nothing to do with the East. And business always develops in the environment of stability and mutual interest. It is reasonable that at present the Russian economy – that is investments, exports, imports and technology – is speeding up its advance in the eastern direction, President of the Centre of Strategic Communications Dmitry Abzalov says. Instead of America and Europe, our target is South-East Asia now.

Putin Advisor Proposes “Anti-Dollar Alliance” To Halt US Aggression Abroad

It has been a while since both Ukraine, and the ongoing Russian response to western sanctions (which set off the great Eurasian axis in motion, pushing China and Russia close together, and accelerating the “Holy Grail” gas deal between the two countries) have made headlines. It is still not clear just why the western media dropped Ukraine coverage like a hot potato, especially since the civil war in Ukraine’s Donbas continues to rage and claim dozens of casualties on both sides. Perhaps the audience has simply gotten tired of hearing about mixed chess/checkers game between Putin vs Obama, and instead has reverted to reading the propaganda surrounding just as deadly events in the third war of Iraq in as many decades.

For third straight month, China cuts US debt holdings

China cut its holdings of United States government debt in April for the third straight month, which may reflect a continuing move from US assets, according to an analyst.

China, the largest foreign holder of US Treasuries, held $1.26 trillion in US debt as of April, down $8.9 billion from the previous month and below the $1.27 trillion mark for the first time since August 2013, the US Treasury Department said Monday in a monthly report. China's holdings hit a high of $1.317 trillion in November.

Kent Troutman, a research analyst at the Washington-based Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), said the decreases each month could be due to benign shifts in the portfolio.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"...due to benign shifts in the portfolio.", MY ASTROLABE!!

The Chinese government is many things, but foolish about the way the US economy is headed, is not one of them.

They are headed out of the US treasury note market, because these notes are only worthless pieces of paper at this time, but they are doing it gently and gradually, so as not to harm their own economy, which has horizontally invested in American businesses over the years, like last year's purchase of Smithfield Foods by Shuanghui International Holdings Ltd.

Russian companies ‘de-dollarize’ and switch to yuan, other Asian currencies

Russia will start settling more contracts in Asian currencies, especially the yuan, in order to lessen its dependence on the dollar market, and because of Western-led sanctions that could freeze funds at any moment.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Good reason for Americans to start dumping the dollar and conducting commerce with something else!

A parallel Chinese financial order

I have commented before about China's dissatisfaction with the global monetary system. China is not an obstructive power. It is, in its way, a committed member of the current economic order. It has strong support at the UN. But it is hedging too, working assiduously to create alternative financial systems to the established ones.

90% Of Gazprom Clients Have "De-Dollarized", Will Transact In Euro & Renminbi

Following Obama and Putin's "caught on tape" meeting Vine'd by the French President, we can't help but wonder if the Russian leaders comments were something akin to "this is not over yet." With "De-Dollarization" efforts already broadly under discussion, ITAR-TASS reports that Gazprom had signed additional agreements for clients to switch from dollars to euros and renminbi, "nine of ten consumer had agreed to switch."

China now Brands Windows 8 as a Spy Tool for NSA

Real bad enough for Microsoft is emerging over this entire spying of the NSA. The NSA is destroying America’s reputation and its technology.

US Corporations Dump Dollar for Chinese Renminbi to Buy Imports

The U.S. dollar is being increasingly dropped as the currency for settling international trade. But perhaps the latest trend provides the most startling evidence yet that the dollar is doomed as the world reserve currency.

The Financial Times reported today that U.S. corporations are using the Chinese renminbi to buy imports over three times more than they had the previous year:

More On China's "Missing Commodity" Scandal: Fallout Spreads As Banks Get Involved

While we have warned about the problem with near-infinitely rehypothecated physical/funding commodities/metals, be they gold or copper, many times in the past, and most recently here, it was only yesterday that China finally admitted it has a major problem involving not just the commodities participating in funding deals - in this case copper and aluminum - but specifically their infinite rehypothecation, which usually results in the actual underlying metal mysteriously "disappearing", as in it never was there to begin with.

A parallel Chinese financial order

The Financial Times ran a front page piece last Monday claiming that China has ordered a ban on state-owned companies using Western management consulting companies. It is alleged by senior Chinese sources that 'foreigners use their consulting companies to find out everything they want about our state companies'. Beijing's solution will be its usual kind of import-substitution strategy, the 'setting up (of) a team of Chinese domestic consultants who are particularly focused on information systems in order to seize back this power from the foreign companies'.

I'm forever hearing gripes about consultants leaking secrets and transferring knowledge between clients. But this is a far more serious charge, and the insinuation is clear. When China is accused of pursuing commerce backed by shadowy state espionage, it will throw the book right back.

Dhaka, Beijing to seal the deal on deep-sea port

Bangladesh wants to conclude the negotiations with China on construction of a deep-sea port at Sonadia in Cox’s Bazar during the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina there.

“We have analysed three proposals [for deep-sea port] that were submitted to the government and we found the Chinese proposal is the best. We hope to sign an instrument with China during the visit of the prime minister in Beijing,” said a senior official of the Foreign Ministry.

Sheikh Hasina is going to China on June 6 on a five-day trip and is scheduled to return home on June 11.

Bangladesh has long been negotiating the mega-project and invited all interested countries to submit their proposals and three countries – the Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and China – showed interest, said the official.

“They made presentations before the high-powered committee headed by the principal secretary where foreign and shipping secretaries are also members,” he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Chinese leadership has been making deals to obtain what they want in terms of trade and opportunity; the US government has been waging war to attempt to accomplish the same objectives.

Renminbi use surges in home of US dollar

It is the monetary equivalent of what Chairman Mao called “bombarding the headquarters”. China’s renminbi is rapidly displacing the US dollar as a trading currency not only in Asia and Europe but now also in the US home market.

The value of renminbi payments between the US and the rest of the world rose by 327 per cent in April this year from the same month a year ago (see chart) as more US corporations switched to using the Chinese currency to pay for imports from China, according to data from SWIFT, the international currency settlement firm.

Chinese General: U.S. Power Has Erectile Dysfunction

This weekend, Major General Zhu Chenghu responded harshly to the United States’ warnings about China’s presence in the South China Sea. The Major General believes American military power is a shell of its former self, and its rhetoric runs the risk of offending Beijing. Chenghu was responding to U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, who said China’s provocations will result in a destabilization of the region. Chenghu’s statements were broadcast by Singapore’s Phoenix TV:

Tiananmen 25th anniversary vigil in Hong Kong expected to draw 200,000 people

Up to 200,000 people are expected to take part in a candle-lit vigil in Hong Kong Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of the violent Tiananmen Square crackdown — as China seeks to wipe the incident from memory.

Every year tens of thousands of Hong Kong residents congregate in the city’s Victoria Park in a solemn ceremony to mark the events of June 3-4, 1989, when the military brutally crushed pro-democracy protests in central Beijing.

This year is expected to draw unprecedented numbers to the vigil, including an ever-larger cohort of mainland Chinese who travel to Hong Kong, the only place in China where the Tiananmen anniversary can be commemorated openly.

“The anger and the tears around the massacre are still very fresh,” Lee Cheuk-yan, chairman of organisers The Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China, told AFP.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This will be a powerful demonstration, and one certain not to please the current government in Beijing.

Small wars loom large on China's horizon

Broad hints have been coming out of China that the country might start small-scale military strikes over disputed waters that are believed to hold rich energy reserves. The consequences of such endeavors would be tolerable to Beijing, international experts say.

Bitter territorial disputes China has with neighbors in the East and South China Seas have long grabbed media headlines. Virtually all countries in the region are involved in spats with China, from South Korea and Japan to the Philippines and Vietnam. In March alone, Beijing had verbal clashes with Seoul over a submerged rock; with Manila over the Philippines' plan to build a ferry pier; and with Hanoi over China's biggest offshore oil explorer's moves to develop oil and gas fields.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem, given today's geopolitical tensions and advances in technology, is that "small scale military strikes" can escalate out of control, creating an entirely different, and potentially unimaginable, outcome, from what they were engineered to do.

U.S. and allies move to counter Chinese power

The pieces of a new strategic kaleidoscope in the Asia-Pacific region are starting to fall into place as allies and security partners of the United States seek to deter China from using or threatening force to achieve its expansive aims, particularly in the South China Sea, which forms the maritime heart of Southeast Asia.

A contingent of about 200 U.S. Marines will soon arrive in Darwin, northern Australia. They are the forerunners of a bigger force of up to 2,500 marines agreed in November by leaders of the two allies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All of this has much to do with natural resources in the South China Seas, and what can be done to secure them for Western interests.

China overtakes US as world's largest grocery market

By 2015, the Chinese market is forecast to be worth £918bn compared to a US value of £675bn, says IGD.

The Chinese grocery sector was worth £607bn at the end of 2011, while the US market - which includes Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer - dropped into second place at £572bn.

"This rapid expansion has been fuelled by three main factors: rapid economic growth, population and rising food inflation," said IGD chief executive Joanne Denney-Finch.

By 2015, the Chinese market is forecast to be worth £918bn compared to a US value of £675bn, according to the report by the British grocery industry group.

U.S.-China Tensions Intensify Over Korean Crisis

North Korea has been blamed for the sinking of a South Korean warship in March that killed 46 sailors. Last month, Pyongyang announced it had a uranium enrichment program. And, just before Thanksgiving, North Korea launched an artillery barrage on a South Korean island, killing four people, including two civilians.

China has been encouraging the resumption of six-party talks involving North Korea and regional powers. But U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Jim Steinberg says Washington sees that as simply a reward for bad behavior.

Steinberg will lead an American delegation to China next week to talk with officials there about North Korea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Note that this article never states that it was South Korea who started this,by their live firing exercises over disputed waters, to which North Korea responded with the shelling of this island.

But at least, next week, there will be talks between the US and China, and this may well be a hopeful sign.

Chinese Appetite For Gold Continues Unabated.

The Chinese appetite for gold continues unabated. Gold imports by China—the largest producer of the yellow metal in the world—is set to touch a record 260 tonnes for the year 2010, bullion dealers predicted on Thursday.

Already, the yellow metal import by China has increased five-fold for the last 10 months of 2010. By the end of November 30, the Chinese gold imports stood at 209 tonnes. In 2009, China had imported just 45 tonnes of gold, compared to the massive 350 tonnes of gold that rival India had imported in the same year. India is currently the largest gold importer and consumer in the world.

North Korea As Pretext: U.S. Builds Asian Military Alliance Against China And Russia

Washington is proceeding at a breakneck – an alarming – pace with plans to politically and militarily polarize East Asia, using the crisis on the Korean Peninsula to do so. Attempts by China and Russia to defuse the conflict and resume negotiations aimed at its peaceful resolution are being spurned by headstrong and reckless U.S. government and military officials.

Russia and China share borders with North Korea. The U.S. is a continent away. A new conflagration on the peninsula would directly affect the first two nations. America can exploit a renewal of hostilities to reinstall itself in the Asia-Pacific region and use proxies – Japan as much as South Korea – to accomplish that objective.
