We now face the worst environmental crisis in human history. Our lives will be irrevocably changed from the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico. What we need here is honesty and integrity. Instead we get a canned speech with plugs for those who want to tax carbon dioxide. 579 words in a 2,679 word speech were devoted to selling the idea of a carbon tax disguised as clean energy.
It did not take long for the text to appear. His speech was a mere 18 minutes, covering four points that had already been outlined, analyzed and answered by the thousands of journalists, bloggers, and TelePrompTer readers earlier in the day. Two months later and all Americans get is 18 minutes of face time. I suppose we should be grateful that he could pry his ass away from his Israeli, Goldman Sachs and BP masters for a few minutes. It’s more face time than the memory of Furkan Dogan received. In case you don’t know his name, he was the American killed aboard the humanitarian flotilla bound for Gaza before Israeli forces intervened. Killed is an understatement. He died from four bullet wounds to the chest and one to the head. Bullets bought and paid for with the blood, sweat and tears of the US taxpayer.
