Aging boomers face stark economics

Declining finances, rising health care costs threaten a generation

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Baby Boomers are in trouble because back during the 1980s, it was realized that a surge of retirees would enter the Social Security System starting about now and that cash flow would go negative (originally expected near to 2020, the reversal has already occurred).

So, in the mid 1980s, Social Security taxes were increased in order to build up a cash surplus in the Social Security trust fund. But this was an intended surplus to cover the expected Baby Boomer shortfalls.

Then the Clintons came to power. And in 1998 Congressional Testimony revealed that Clinton's illusion of a Federal Budget Surplus had been manufactured by looting the cash from Social Security and spending it as general revenues!

In other words, Bill Clinton spent the retirement funds of Americans to balance his Federal Budget!

Don't take my word for it; read it yourself!

The government "borrowed" your retirement funds during what was claimed to be an economic boom, meaning that there could never really be a time when the loans could be paid back. So now, either the government has to tax the people a second time for the benefits already paid for (difficult to do when there is nothing to tax) or stiff Americans for the benefits they already paid for.

It is pretty obvious which way the Federal Government plans to handle this mess!

About 70 percent of his work involves research and, for a number of years, he has been studying the effects of fructose on the metabolic system in animals and cell culture, as well as in clinical studies.

Most of this research is focused on how fructose might cause obesity, high blood pressure, kidney disease, fatty liver, and other health-related problems.

Here, Dr. Johnson discusses how uric acid in your blood can wreak havoc on your blood pressure, insulin production and even kidney function.

Collapse of the American Empire: swift, silent, certain

'The Consummation of Empire' focuses us on Ferguson's core message: At the very peak of their power, affluence and glory, leaders arise, run amok with imperial visions and sabotage themselves, their people and their nation. They have it all.

But more-is-not enough as greed, arrogance and a thirst for power consume them. Back in the early days of the Iraq war, Kevin Phillips, political historian and former Nixon strategist, also captured this inevitable tendency in Wealth and Democracy:

German tells of childhood abuse by Catholic priest

"When I was 10 years old, the local Catholic priest selected me to be an altar boy," he says.

"I was very excited. After the service he took me up to his apartment. I felt so proud. Then he locked the door, sat down and undid my trousers. He performed a sexual act on me. At that very moment he murdered my soul."

Webmaster's Commentary:

"I am certain that every parent of every child molested by the clergy prayed to the god of their church every night that their child would be safe from evil. That such abuse of children is epidemic suggests one of only two possible conclusions.

1. The omnipotent and omniscient all-powerful God they pray to is a sick psychotic bastard who thinks dirty old men molesting young children inside his local branches is kinda cool.

2. There is no God.

Take your pick."

Now, I realize this upsets those who refuse to face up to the fact they have been the victims of history's most enduring swindle, and I have the hate-mail to prove it. They cannot bring themselves to face up to the fact that they have lived their whole life believing that if they just keep putting money in the collection plate and repeat the magical incantations, that somehow they will escape death. Confronted with the choice of having to admit they got suckered, or continuing to turn a blind eye to continuing harm inflicted on yet more children, the vast majority of the religious deranged seem to have decided that pretending these assaults on children are somehow acceptable to their God is preferable to ever admitting that maybe they were fools and suckers.

We rightly criticize those parents who allowed their children to stay with Michael Jackson simply because they wanted to bask in Jackson's fame. But are those parents who ignored their own childrens' accusations against priests in order to secure their personal path to the afterlife any less vile?

Pope John Paul II Pope is 'shocked' to hear of abuse case in Munich while he was archbishop

Pope Benedict XVI has for the first time been drawn into the Catholic sex abuse scandal in his home country of Germany.

His former archdiocese of Munich has acknowledged that, while he was in charge, it dealt with a suspected paedophile priest by transferring him to a different parish where he went on to commit sex offences against children. The revelation has drawn attention to Benedict's handling of abuse claims, both when archbishop and later as a prefect of the Vatican office dealing with such crimes, a position he held until becoming pope in 2005.

He was terrified, held for 10 hours, traumatized by the incident, and unable to sleep, "worried sick about his brother in jail and extremely afraid that the soldiers would come back" and do it again, which they did, and do repeatedly to hundreds of Palestinian youths, their siblings, parents and friends, guilty of being Palestinian on land Israel wants to make historic Palestine an ethnically pure Jewish state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, according to the IDF, ethnic cleansing of Palestinians is absolutely acceptable, be it by slaughtering an innocent pregnant woman, denying care to medically fragile Palestinians, or torturing prisoners some time to death.

One has to shake one's head at the reality that many of those in the Israeli military and Israeli government are the grand-children of Holocaust survivors.

One might imagine somehow that the understanding that all ethnic cleansing is morally appalling would have wound up being a primary value for a society whose ancestors had survived it; unfortunately, that is not the case with Israel.

Israeli army to seal off West Bank as tensions rise

The action was taken "for security reasons" including a risk of attacks, the spokesman said. The area was sealed off at midnight on Thursday.

Israeli police have also said they would bar Muslim men under the age of 50 from prayers on Friday at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque compound, one of Islam's holiest sites, fearing unrest.

The moves come after violent clashes at the site, which is also holy to Jews, during last week's Muslim prayers, and fresh tensions over Israeli plans to build 1,600 homes for Jewish settlers in mostly Arab east Jerusalem.

Rather than eliminating unrest, these actions by the IDF are almost guaranteed to provoke violence, which is precisely why the IDF is doing this.

Climate change 'makes birds shrink' in North America

A study of almost half a million birds, belonging to over 100 species, shows that many are gradually becoming lighter and growing shorter wings.

This shrinkage has occurred within just half a century, with the birds thought to be evolving into a smaller size in response to warmer temperatures.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And of course the encroachment of humans into their natural habitat and decline in available food supplies would have nothing to do with that, correct?

Think back to a time when the Earth really was a lot warmer, with much more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It was called the Cretaceous Period, where the world world was a tropical rain forest, temperatures were much higher, food was abundant, and as a result, animals grew LARGER!

On the islands off of the coast of Los Angeles, paleontologists have discovered the bones of a species of woolly mammoth, identical to their mainland counterparts except in size. These so-called pygmy mammoths lived at the same time as their larger cousins, with the same global temperatures and same atmospheric composition. But, being isolated from the shore as the islands slowly drifted further away from shore by tectonic creep, they had limited food and limited space, and so natural selection favored the smaller among them, and over time, evolution shrank that species, even as their on-shore cousins remained the same size.

U.S. gave Israel green light for East Jerusalem construction

Based on Biden's reaction, it seems that he (and, presumably, his boss) has decided that it is better to leave with a few sour grapes than to quarrel with the vineyard guard. In his speech at Tel Aviv University, he said he appreciated Netanyahu's pledge that there would be no recurrence. But what exactly does that mean? That next time he comes, the Planning and Building Committee will be asked to defer discussion of similar plans until the honored guest has left? With the media storm dying down, Netanyahu can breathe a sigh of relief.

In a sense, the uproar actually helped him: To wipe the spit off his face, Biden had to say it was only rain. Therefore, he lauded Netanyahu's assertion that actual construction in Ramat Shlomo would begin only in another several years.

The point of Zeitgeist is to show some of the similarities between Jewish-Greco-Roman Christianity and other ancient religions. Zeitgeist isn’t meant to be an all-inclusive detailed study of ancient religious mythology.

As much as I would enjoy this "free" service (at the expense of other taxpayers) the fact is that social-insurance and welfare programs do not benefit the economy — or the recipient — over the long run. Russia criticizes U.S., NATO over Afghan drug trafficking fight

Russia's envoy to NATO has sharply criticized the alliance's shift away from fighting drug trafficking in Afghanistan, saying the resulting surge in heroin smuggling is endangering Russia's national security.

In an interview late Thursday, Dmitry Rogozin also highlighted the lack of cohesion within NATO, saying Moscow is worried about declining public support in Europe for the war.

"(Russia) is losing 30,000 lives a year to the Afghan drug trade, and a million people are addicts," Rogozin said. "This is an undeclared war against our country."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Where there is control of the drug trade, there is also the control of where the drugs wind up.

That is one way to destabilize a country without firing a shot.

PROPAGANDA ALERT - Carbon emissions creating acidic oceans not seen since dinosaurs

Webmaster's Commentary:

The cult is back.

So CO2 is turning the oceans into acid. The same acid found in sparkling mineral water, I might add.

And it's all humans' fault according to the cult. Never mind that the ocean is full of life that produces CO2 in abundance, and never mind that the ocean floor is covered with we-still-don't-know-how-many volcanoes pouring out more heat and CO2 per day than all of Earth's humans do in an entire year; if it's bad blame it on the taxpayers and suck more money out of them.

The video "Goldman Sucks" lays it right out for you. Carbon is the new speculative bubble to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Israel Moves To Change Law After Biden 'Mishap'

Israel is moving to amend the country's planning procedures on sensitive political decisions following an embarrassing diplomatic flap during a visit this week by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, a Cabinet minister said Friday.

Both Biden and the Palestinians sharply condemned the Israeli settlement decision.

Netanyahu apologized for the timing, though not the substance, of the announcement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Israel will just go on doing what it has been doing, taking US money and there will utterly no consequences for anything they do from the US (Including potentially starting a war against Iran).

Israel, as a nuclear-armed nation, should not be getting one penny of US financial or military aid, under the provisions of the Symington Amendment.

Yet that never seems to bother any of our Congress members of a succession of Presidents in the least.

Industries hoarding greenhouse gas emission permits

Companies across Europe are hoarding permits to produce greenhouse gas emissions worth hundreds of millions of pounds, the Guardian can reveal.

The surplus credits have been amassed from over-allocation of permits to pollute from the European emissions trading scheme, and by buying cheap credits from carbon-cutting projects in developing countries and holding on to their more expensive official EU allowances.

The next Intifada could see the Palestinian people in struggle not only against Israel but also against the Palestinian Authority, writes Khalid Amayreh in Ramallah

Mar 12 09:31

It has been reported in Ha’aretz that President Obama submitted a letter of commitment to the Palestinian side to get these indirect “proximity talks” off the ground. The letter notes, “Our core remains a viable, independent and sovereign Palestinian State with contiguous territory that ends the occupation that began in 1967.” This is not the first time a US administration has used its creativity in creating new terminology to deal with the conflict instead of relying on the time-tested body of international law that provides the keys to real progress. In the past, in place of “independent state” the US has attached such adjectives to the word “state” as “contiguous,” “viable,” “economically viable,” “territorial continuity,” and the like.

Lehman Fraudulently Cooked Its Books, Accounting Giant Ernst & Young Helped, Geithner and Bernanke Winked and Slapped Them on the Back

As William K. Black said a year ago, the government's entire strategy now - as in the S&L crisis - is to cover up how bad things are ("the entire strategy is to keep people from getting the facts").

As I've pointed out numerous times, the stress tests were a total sham, with a pre-ordained passing grade for the banks.

As I've noted repeatedly over the last couple of years, the government has allowed the giant banks to hide their liabilities and maintain dizzying amounts of leverage by using off-balance-sheet gimmicks:

FBI enters case of a school's alleged spying using laptop Web cams

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Blake Robbins, claimed that he was reprimanded by an assistant principal for "improper behavior in his home" that was captured by the laptop camera.

Robbins told reporters, the Inquirer says, that the school official mistook Mike & Ike candies he was holding for illegal pills, and accused him of selling drugs.

Michael Mello, author of the recently published book, "The United States of America vs. Theodore John Kaczynski," notes that at some point in his Harvard years--1958 to 1962--Kaczynski agreed to be the subject of "a psychological experiment." Mello identifies the chief researcher for these only as a lieutenant colonel in World War II, working for the CIA's predecessor organization, the Office of Strategic Services. In fact, the man experimenting on the young Kaczynski was Dr. Henry Murray, who died in 1988.

Holocaust Games in Britain

A group of primary schoolchildren were left traumatised after their teacher told them they were to be taken away from their families during a bizarre Holocaust classroom 'game'.

Pupils became hysterical after a number of them were separated and told they were being sent away or might end up in an orphanage.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Do we need to make slaves of our children to teach them slavery is wrong? No, we do not. Not only do we all know slavery is wrong, but slavery no longer exists in the US (not counting the 1040 form).

Likewise, the Nazis are all gone. Hitler is gone. And Nazi style war crimes are gone (not counting Gaza).

This "game" was little more than a blatant attempt to brainwash children, to emotionally scar them in a manner which benefits the present-day government of Israel.

Ecstasy trials for combat stress

American soldiers traumatised by fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan are to be offered the drug ecstasy to help free them of flashbacks and recurring nightmares.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This might be a good idea. Prior to being declared illegal because of recreational abuses, MDMA was showing tremendous potential in the therapy context, allowing people to look at themselves objectively. Therapy that might take years could be accomplished in weeks. But our government, trying to maintain the illusion of objection to drugs even as they profit from them, banned MDMA for any and all uses, a knee-jerk political move that threw out the good with the bad.

This is definitely worth more research. These kids in Iraq know they are the invaders and that is a tough thing to live with. Anything that can help them get past that guilt non-destructively has to be looked at closely if for no other reason than it might lower the suicide rate.

That financing very often comes in the form of repurchase agreements (repo financing), in which the institution borrows funds while pledging assets. These short term loans, often overnight loans, are unwound at a preset date and preset prices. The rates borrowers have to pay for funds borrowed depend on the credit quality of the borrower itself and the quality of the assets pledged.

Profile: 'Jihad Jane' from Main Street

The blonde middle-aged woman apparently raised no concerns with her boyfriend or her neighbours on Main Street, Pennsburg, near Philadelphia.

But online she had allegedly agreed to kill in the name of holy war, believing her European looks would allow her to blend in among Swedes as she homed in on her target.

Colleen LaRose, according to a US court indictment, posted messages online under the name Jihad Jane, expressing her desire to participate in jihad, or holy war.

Arrested in October 2009, Ms LaRose had exchanged emails over 15 months to recruit fighters for "violent jihad".

Her activities apparently came as a surprise to her boyfriend Kurt Gorman, whom she met in 2005.
