SPIEGEL: The displeasure among the populations of the NATO countries involved in the war is growing even more quickly than your commitment. About 70 percent of Germans favor a rapid withdrawal of their troops. How long can democratically governed nations wage a war opposed by a majority of their populations?
Rasmussen: I believe that people understand very well why we are in Afghanistan…"
Memo NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen: thinking people around the world understand why the US and NATO are in Afghanistan, and these reasons have absolutely nothing to do with terrorism.
They are, bluntly put:
1. To install the pipelines with which to control Eurasian oil.
2. To protect the drug trad, from which which so many profit so handsomely.
These two reasons, taken together, make it very clear that this war is about private profit, and not for public safety, not even that of innocent Afghan nationals.
