URBAN SHIELD 2009 Terrorizing Oakland & Bay Area This Weekend at Invite of Alameda Sheriff | WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

URBAN SHIELD 2009 Terrorizing Oakland & Bay Area This Weekend at Invite of Alameda Sheriff

On October 24th and 25th, 2009, the Alameda County Sheriff is again spearheading their so-called Urban Shield by inviting SWAT teams from across the country and world to come and terrorize Oakland and surrounding cities. The cops look at it as this big, fun event where they get to bust out all of their latest militarized policing hardware, realistically most of which is used to keep lower income people in their place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This year, for the first time in this event's 3 year history, foreign forces are participating in these drills, and these the French RAID team, one of France's most elite military police squadrons.

These "urban war games" are sponsored not only by Homeland Security Grant funds, but also these corporate private sponsors, as reported in:

The private firms represented here are positioned to profit brilliantly from any kind police/military purchases of equipment and/ or services intended to crush any kind urban unrest in the US.

And it appears that this kind of scenario is just what Homeland Security expects to happen here in the not too distant future. They're very much planning for it, as evidenced in DHS's latest budget request, as reported on 7 May 2009 at:

http://www.dhs.gov/ynews/releases/pr_1241715252729.shtm

"U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano unveiled the Department’s $55.1 billion FY 2010 budget request today, focused around five major priorities—counterterrorism; border security; enforcement of immigration laws; disaster preparedness, response and recovery; and Department unification—designed to create a leaner, smarter, more effective agency."
