The Afghan ambassador to the United States has told Al Jazeera that civilian casualties during US military operations are "a price that we have to pay" if the Taliban and al-Qaeda are to be defeated.
One has to wonder just what Ambassador Jawad gets paid under the table by the US and NATO to make such statements about his country's murdered citizens, including women and children.
Every one of these innocents' deaths will further radicalize the Afghan people away from the Karzai government, and more toward the Taliban.
And we have never had - nor does it appear that we will ever have - enough boots on the ground for a military victory.
So who is winning here?!?
