FAIL: State Dept's Marie Harf Blames $50 Billion Iran "Bonus" in Nuclear Deal on Treasury Dept Calculation Error

Someone has obviously been studying their common core math.

After Jay Solomon over at the Wall Street Journal pointed out that there was a whopping $50 billion difference in the funds Iran was supposed to get after the sanctions release in the administration’s nuclear deal and what Iran is claiming to have, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf took to Twitter to "clarify" to him publicly that it was the Treasury Department's fault... as if that somehow makes the government look less ridiculously inept.

South American health ministers held an emergency meeting on slowing the spread of the Zika virus, dubbed a “nightmare” by hard-hit Brazil, where it is blamed for brain damage in babies. With health authorities warning the disease could infect up to four million people in the Americas, ministers from 14 countries held talks in Uruguay to plot their response to the growing crisis, with fears the virus could spread worldwide.

What voters know about Hillary Clinton: She's a crook

This has not been a good week for Hillary Clinton.

She prevailed over Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Iowa Democratic presidential caucuses by less than four tenths of one percent of all votes cast, after having led him in polls in Iowa at one time by 40 percentage points.

In her statement to supporters, standing in front of her gaunt and listless looking husband, she was not able to mouth the word “victory” or any of its standard variants. She could barely hide her contempt for the Iowa Democrats who disserted her.

Sanders isn’t even a Democrat. According to official Senate records, he is an “Independent Socialist” who votes to organize the Senate with the Democrats, and sits on the Senate floor with them.

Clinton, of course, is the heiress to the mightiest Democratic political apparatus in the land. Hence the question: What do the Iowa Democrats know that caused thousands of them to flee from her?

They know she is a crook.

‘Something smells in Democratic Party’…

“Too many accounts have arisen of inconsistent counts, untrained and overwhelmed volunteers, confused voters, cramped precinct locations, a lack of voter registration forms and other problems,” the editorial reads. “Too many of us, including members of the Register editorial board who were observing caucuses, saw opportunities for error amid Monday night’s chaos.”

The Establishment’s Last Stand — The War Party holds on, but for how much longer?

The neocons have their candidate in Rubio, but they could live with Cruz, however uneasily. The Donald, however, is a different matter entirely. Trump’s unabashedly realist foreign policy is diametrically opposed to the neocons’ effusive globalism. If he should beat the odds and get the GOP nomination, the neocons’ will flee the party, with some of them glomming on to Hillary and the rest glumly sitting out the election while throwing spitballs from the sidelines.

The Continuing Demonization of Cash

The insidious nature of the war on cash derives not just from the hurdles governments place in the way of those who use cash, but also from the aura of suspicion that has begun to pervade private cash transactions. In a normal market economy, businesses would welcome taking cash. After all, what business would willingly turn down customers? But in the war on cash that has developed in the thirty years since money laundering was declared a federal crime, businesses have had to walk a fine line between serving customers and serving the government. And since only one of those two parties has the power to shut down a business and throw business owners and employees into prison, guess whose wishes the business owner is going to follow more often?

The Election Moves On

Before the Iowa caucuses were mercifully laid to rest, I predicted that the surging Donald Trump — he of what George H.W. Bush called “the Big Mo” — would win the Republican contest handily. Jeb Awkwardly Asks Crowd to “Please Clap,” Gives Everyone Secondhand Embarrassment

It's sad enough that Jeb's team is over there paying people $25 to fill seats at his appearances, otherwise hardly anyone would show up. Now he's asking the crowd to clap at the moments of his speeches were it says "crowd applause" on the script.

Clinton defends speaking fees, says she can't be bought

Hillary Clinton insisted on Wednesday that she hasn't been influenced by the hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees she received from major financial institutions, her latest effort to blunt attacks from Sen. Bernie Sanders that she can't be a progressive given the way she raises money from Wall Street.

In a town hall hosted by CNN, Clinton said she collected money for years in part because she wasn't thinking about running for president, and that it's normal for high-level cabinet officials to give speeches and accept fees. When asked why she accepted $675,000 in fees from a Wall Street bank, she explained, "that's what they offered me," and said that money won't affect policy.

In the court, King attempted to make his case but was constantly interrupted by the judge who repeatedly told him to be quiet. When King continued... The Des Moines Register demands audit of Iowa's Democrat caucuses: It 'reeks of autocracy'

In an editorial published late Wednesday evening, The Des Moines Register skewered the Democratic caucuses in Iowa as being a "debacle." "We can take ribbing over our quirky process. But what we can't stomach is even the whiff of impropriety or error," the paper, which has endorsed Hillary Clinton, wrote. "What happened Monday night at the Democratic caucuses was a debacle, period. Democracy, particularly at the local party level, can be slow, messy and obscure. But the refusal to undergo scrutiny or allow for an appeal reeks of autocracy."

There have been questions raised about the Democratic Party's bias toward Clinton from the start; after all, Sanders has only recently identified himself as a Democrat. Nevertheless, the Sanders campaign hasn't formally demanded a recount of the caucuses, although they are reviewing the results on their own, precinct by precinct. A spokeswoman for the campaign said they have already found inconsistencies.

What Really Poisoned the Water in Flint, Michigan

The mantra of every Koch-headed, right-wing politico is that government should be run like a business, always focused on cutting costs.

Welcome to Flint, Michigan. This impoverished, mostly African-American city has indeed been run like a private corporation since Republican Gov. Rick Snyder appointed his “emergency manager” to seize control of Flint’s heavily indebted local government. Snyder’s coup d’etat usurped the people’s democratic voice and effectively imposed a corporate-style autocracy over them, run by his unelected CEO-like manager who answers only to Snyder.

Let’s Talk About Bernie Sanders and the Middle East

Foreign policy has taken a backseat to domestic issues in the Democratic primary thus far.

There are two explanations for this. One is that the Democratic base simply doesn’t see foreign policy — apart from “terrorism,” which at least has a foreign policy component to it — as a key issue. The other is that neither of the party’s two remaining contenders has much to gain from any kind of detailed scrutiny of their own policies and records.

Zika: Biggest News Service In America Absolutely Clueless

Okay, here we go.

Of course, I’m talking about the Associated Press (AP)—and its recent coverage of the Zika story: January 27, “270 of 4,180 suspected microcephaly cases confirmed.”

Bernie has Goldman Sachs CEO running scared: Sanders’ candidacy is a ‘dangerous moment’

The head of a major banking firm is “feeling the Bern” but not in the way many of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ voters are.

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein said Sanders is tapping into class-based anger against growing inequality and called his candidacy a “dangerous moment.” Blankfein was speaking Wednesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” according to Politico.

“It has the potential to personalize it, it has the potential to be a dangerous moment. Not just for Wall Street not just for the people who are particularly targeted but for anybody who is a little bit out of line,” Blankfein said. “It’s a liability to say I’m going to compromise I’m going to get one millimeter off the extreme position I have and if you do you have to back track and swear to people that you’ll never compromise. It’s just incredible. It’s a moment in history.”

In January, Sanders was asked to list examples of corporate greed, and he listed Blankfein, according to Politico.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to Lloyd Blankfein: sir, what the too big to fail banks did to so many when the mortgage and economic crises hit, coupled with relentless offshoring/outsourcing of jobs, has many Americans furious, underemployed, and economically on the skids.

They have an absolute right to their anger; the question is, how will that anger be expressed?!? As a Christian pacifist, who never advocates violence (because violence is something the Federal government is ready to suppress, with extreme prejudice), I am hopeful that the anger people feel will not be expressed through violence.

Unfortunately you, and those like you, are incapable of having a profoundly necessary "Buddha on the Road moment", because you have become deaf, dumb, and blind to the misery so many of the policies you champion have caused.

But there is a question that you and your colleagues need to address: if candidates for both parties are simply "pre-manufactured" and both completely beholden to the major corporations and banks, what does that say about the American political process?!?

Such choices, by the Democrats and Republicans, would ultimately and logically mean that the American people have absolutely, utterly no say whatsoever in the political process, and it is so crooked that the corporately "chosen" politicians have to screw their socks on in the morning.

The Fed needs to be abolished; money should become a public utility, and not a loan at interest; the allegedly "too big to fail" banks need to be broken up, and the needs of the people, not the needs of the corporations, must again become the first, and foremost priorities for this government.

The so-called "financial establishment" has had more than enough time to fix those fundamental, integral problems which have been destroying the American economy, and with it, its people, and has failed, utterly, miserably, and horrifically.

This, sir, ultimately, cannot continue, and I hope the change coming in this country will be peaceful

Another Runaway General: Army Deploys Psy-Ops on U.S. Senators

The U.S. Army illegally ordered a team of soldiers specializing in "psychological operations" to manipulate visiting American senators into providing more troops and funding for the war, Rolling Stone has learned – and when an officer tried to stop the operation, he was railroaded by military investigators.

The orders came from the command of Lt. Gen. William Caldwell, a three-star general in charge of training Afghan troops – the linchpin of U.S. strategy in the war. Over a four-month period last year, a military cell devoted to what is known as "information operations" at Camp Eggers in Kabul was repeatedly pressured to target visiting senators and other VIPs who met with Caldwell. When the unit resisted the order, arguing that it violated U.S. laws prohibiting the use of propaganda against American citizens, it was subjected to a campaign of retaliation.

Bills Seek Transparency of Shell Companies

Bills requiring greater transparency of shell companies were introduced in Congress on Wednesday, continuing a yearlong legislative effort to shine light into one of the darkest recesses of business dealings in the United States.

Shell companies, often limited liability companies, are registered at the state level and, in numerous states, the government is not given the name of the person who actually owns the company. This opacity is a significant barrier for law enforcement authorities when they are investigating money laundering and other crimes involving shell companies.

Seattle theater to stage play about Tylenol murders

The play centers on the "moral conundrums" faced by police and Johnson & Johnson. But it also focuses on the tireless pursuit of what happened by Michelle Rosen, daughter of victim Mary "Lynn" Reiner, of Winfield.

Rosen was only 8 years old when she saw her mother drop to the kitchen floor and die of cyanide poisoning. Years later, that memory drove her to spend years doing her own in-depth investigation. Despite obstacles, Rosen uncovered information about the case (much of it is on tylenolmurders.com) and came to believe the Tylenol tampering occurred in the distribution channel, not the widely believed theory that a lone madman planted cyanide in Tylenol bottles across the suburbs.

Rosen's research was used in "The Tylenol Mafia." However, her findings have been largely ignored by investigators.

Rosen, who now lives in Texas, said she doesn't know Bryce and hasn't seen his script. But she is hopeful the play will help bring the spotlight back onto the cold case.

Michelle Rosen has been a guest on the radio show many times, and we will have her back to talk about this new play.

Feds fight disclosure of Hillary Clinton Whitewater indictment drafts

The National Archives is fighting a lawsuit trying to force disclosure of several draft indictments of Hillary Clinton prepared by a Whitewater prosecutor in the 1990s.

In a brief filed late Tuesday, Justice Department lawyers and the Archives argue that disclosure of the draft indictments would lead to an unwarranted invasion of Clinton’s privacy and violate a court rule protecting grand jury secrecy.

“Despite the role that Mrs. Clinton occupied as the First Lady during President Clinton’s administration, Mrs. Clinton maintains a strong privacy interest in not having information about her from the files of the Independent Counsel disclosed,” wrote Martha Wagner Murphy, chief of the Archives “special access” branch that stores records of former independent counsels. “As an uncharged person, Hillary Rodham Clinton retains a significant interest in her personal privacy despite any status as a public figure.”

Instead of arresting Cornejo, the officers let him go. But after receiving an anonymous tip, the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau and the FBI planted a bug in his car and wiretapped his phone while using an undercover officer posing as a john.

Mistaken ID case: Man was jailed despite being 9 inches taller than the wanted man

Still recruiting officers from the intellectually challenged I see!

Mario A. Garcia was booked into a Los Angeles County jail after law enforcement mistook him for a man with an identical birth date and the same first and last names. Garcia protested that deputies had the wrong man: The other Garcia, wanted on a warrant, was 9 inches shorter, 40 pounds lighter and had a different middle name.

But it wasn't until three days after the arrest that a judge rectified the mistake and released Garcia.

Excellent Interview with Director of New Film About Neocons (Video)

No matter who occupies the US presidency, it seems the neoconservatives always occupy positions of foreign policy power. A neocon like Robert Kagan, for example, is perfectly comfortable going from a senior position in the GW Bush administration to another senior post in Barack Obama's State Department. When their failed policies wear out the name of one of their institutes, like Project for a New American Century, they simply change the name without losing a beat, in this case turning into the "Foreign Policy Initiative."
Filmmaker Robbie Martin has done a terrific job looking into the neocon domination of Washington in his three-part documentary film, A Very Heavy Agenda.

Democrat Congresswoman Is Taking on Washington's Syria Delusions (Tulsi Gabbard)

From my own experience, analysts at CIA very often were scrupulous in their judgements on developments overseas but a funny thing would happen at Agency headquarters as information made its way from the ground floor up to the seventh floor where the political appointee mandarins would preside. It would become politicized and any viewpoints diametrically opposed to what prevailed at the consumer level in Congress and in the White House would be mitigated or even excised. Such is the nature of bureaucracy, which exists to support the status quo and inter alia requires a satisfied audience to prosper. And the press fails to do its part to correct the listing ship.

C-SPAN Video of Voter Fraud in Iowa Proves Your Votes Mean Absolutely Nothing

Just after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton declared herself the winner of the Democratic Party in the much-anticipated Iowa caucuses. Immediately after the ‘victory,’ Clinton went on CNN to bask in her counterfeit fame.

However, as a C-SPAN video shows, Clinton’s ‘victory’ would have nothing to do with ‘luck,’ and her premature declaration of the “razor thin” tie, was no mistake.

The Democratic Party has already chosen its candidate and who the people actually want is irrelevant.

FLASHBACK: Army Report Details How Military Can Be Used Against Tea Party, Right Wingers & American Citizens

The study begins by laying out how the U.S. Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 will include military operations throughout the United States. The outrageous report goes on to describe a theoretical situation where the U.S. Army is sent in to a city that has been taken over by Tea Party “insurrectionists”.After demonizing what they call “right-wing demagogues” and “mobs of angry whites” the report goes on to say:

“In May 2016 an extremist militia motivated by the goals of the “tea party” movement takes over the government of Darlington, South Carolina…. The Department of Homeland Security responds to the governor’s request by asking for defense support to civil law enforcement. After the Department of Justice states that the conditions in Darlington and surrounding areas meet the conditions necessary to invoke the Insurrection Act, the President invokes it.”

Hillary Clinton’s Hawkish Record

Under the pretense of protecting our national interest, the United States maintains some 800 military bases in other countries, costing taxpayers tens of billions of dollars annually. Often referred to as “enduring bases,” they enable us to mount attacks whenever and wherever our leaders see fit, whether with drones or manned aircraft... During the 2008 presidential campaign, Clinton promised to “totally obliterate” Iran if it attacked Israel. Clinton was, in effect, pledging to commit genocide against the Iranian people. In an August 2014 Atlantic interview with Jeffrey Goldberg, Clinton maintained, “There is no such thing as a right to enrich.” Apparently, she has not read the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which gives countries like Iran the right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes... Clinton has consistently and uncritically supported the policies of the Israeli government.

Oregon standoff leader Ammon Bundy, others indicted

By STEVEN DUBOIS Updated 30 min ago (0)

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted Ammon Bundy and some of the men and women who joined him at the armed occupation of an Oregon wildlife refuge, authorities said Wednesday.
However, the indictment remained sealed and further details on the charges were unavailable.
Defense attorneys demanded the immediate unsealing of the indictment — a request denied Wednesday by U.S. Magistrate Judge Janice Stewart. In a criminal complaint, defendants have a right to a preliminary hearing in which they can question the arresting officer under oath about probable cause for the charges.

After an indictment, they are no longer entitled to such a proceeding.
The cancellation of preliminary hearings that had been scheduled for Wednesday dismayed attorneys for the accused.

A Golden Age for Pentagon Waste

As we have often noted one of the giant logs stuck in the eye of many conservatives, people who typically argue for smaller government, is that they often defend military spending with little reservation. Defense, we are told is enumerated in the Constitution and as such is a legitimate expenditure. And yes, defense, is enumerated in the Constitution. Massive unchecked spending, undeclared wars, and bases around the world are not however enumerated in the Constitution.

Toxic Pool of Bad Loans Threatens World Economy

Beneath the surface of the global financial system lurks a multitrillion-dollar problem that could sap the strength of large economies for years to come. The problem is the giant, stagnant pool of loans that companies and people around the world are struggling to pay back. Bad debts have been a drag on economic activity ever since the financial crisis of 2008, but in recent months, the threat posed by an overhang of bad loans appears to be rising. China is the biggest source of worry. Some analysts estimate that China’s troubled credit could exceed $5 trillion, a staggering number that is equivalent to half the size of the country’s annual economic output.

Hillary Answers Question, Shockingly Hears Reporters Laughing In Disbelief

Clinton: “Well, look, anybody who knows me knows I’m not in the pocket of anyone, and anyone who thinks they can influence me certainly doesn’t know me…”

Immediately after Clinton responds with that nonsense, you hear the CBS anchors laughing out loud in the background, and when I say out loud, I mean lout LOUD. What is SO over-the-top sickening about this, is one of those anchors was Charlie Rose, a left-wing wacko who has supported Clinton through all her Benghazi lies. William Blackstone, Commentaries - William Blackstone, Commentaries

The first and most obvious division of the people is into aliens and natural-born subjects. Natural-born subjects are such as are born within the dominions of the crown of England, that is, within the ligeance, or as it is generally called, the allegiance of the king; and aliens, such as are born out of it. Allegiance is the tie, or ligamen, which binds the subject to the king, in return for that protection which the king affords the subject. The thing itself, or substantial part of it, is founded in reason and the nature of government; the name and the form are derived to us from our Gothic ancestors.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is the legal definition for "Natural Born" used by the framers of the Constitution, who even after the Revolution based the laws of the United States on British laws they were already familiar with.

Ted Cruz is not eligible to be President of the United States; The meaning of "Natural Born."

"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." -- Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, clause 5

Ted Cruz is ineligible to run for President of the United States. He was born in Canada, of parents who were Canadian citizens at the time of his birth. Cruz's mother claims to have been born in Delaware. The State of Delaware claims not to have any records of her. (The authenticity of the Birth Certificate provided by the Cruz campaign is now in dispute.) But even if genuine, it makes Cruz a US citizen, but not "Natural Born."

Ted Cruz's supporters try to get around "Natural Born" by claiming it simply means any US citizen, an opinion even echoed at Wikipedia!
