‘Google must not be left to censor history’ – Wikipedia founder

The power to “censor history” should not be left in Google’s hands, Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales warned, after the search engine giant revealed it had approved over 90,000 so-called ‘right to be forgotten’ requests.

Wales said a European Court ruling allowing people to have links scrubbed from the search engine's index was "open-ended." He further slammed the law for being unclear.

“The law as it stands right now is quite confusing. We have this one ruling of the ECJ (European Court of Justice) which is very open-ended and very hard to interpret,” he told BBC Radio 4's Today program.

In May, the ECJ said links to irrelevant and outdated data should be erased from searches on request, sparking fears that news stories and other public information could be concealed from public view.

NY DHS Will Pay You $500 To Rat Out Fellow Citizens Buying Legal Goods

New York’s Division of Homeland Security is posting signs on businesses to encourage people to snitch on fellow citizens who buy such things as MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat), ammunition, flash lights, match containers, gas masks and other items deemed to be ‘prepper’ in nature.

This is obviously nothing more than the beginning of the cultivation of ‘average citizen snitches’ who will rat out on their fellow citizens.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And before anyone rushes out to make a fast $500 because their neighbor has a garage full of MREs, remember what the French people did to the collaborators after the Nazis left France.

Little side story here. After the Nazis left, young women who had been "friendly" with the Nazis had their hair all shaved off. Humiliating at first with the bald head, as their hair stared to grow back these women found they were much sought after by young men, who viewed the short hair as a sign of easy sexual availability. The women with short hair became so popular that even women who had not been "friendly" with the Nazis started wearing shorter hair styles to attract men!

Oh, and let me save the DHS $500. I do have MREs. I do have a gas mask, but it was my grandfather's from WW1, and in typical government quality it did not work and he lost a lung to mustard gas, so I would not worry about it. I do have flashlights (rather a lot of them, really) and a supply of batteries, plus a short wave. Also canned food, first aid supplies, that sort of thing. I guess that puts me on the terror watch list, but I would like to remind the government that while I may be annoying, obnoxious, and irritating, I am NOT a terrorist! I did try to blow up a bus one time, but I was drunk and burned my lips on the exhaust pipe.

New IRS Form Proves Obama Lied About Individual Mandate Tax

On Thursday the IRS released a slew of draft 2014 tax forms. The new draft Form 1040 shows a new surtax line has been created for the payment of the individual mandate surtax – see line 61 of the 1040.

President Obama has repeatedly denied that the surtax is in fact actually a tax.

Obama Calls For Collectivized New World Order

In a geopolitical context, Obama’s call for a “new order” really doesn’t sound any different from the old unipolar world order that the United States has represented since the end of the Cold War, which is now being challenged by the rise of the BRICS countries.

Orwell Would Be Proud: US Media Admits Divine Right To Decide What Public Needs To Know

The government really needs to get its message out to the American people, and it knows that the best way to do that is by using the American news media, said Shanker. The relationship between the government and the media is like a marriage; it is a dysfunctional marriage to be sure, but we stay together for the kids.

Washington Is Escalating the Orchestrated Ukrainian “Crisis” to War

Despite the conclusion by US intelligence that there is no evidence of Russian involvement in the destruction of the Malaysian airliner and all lives onboard, Washington is escalating the crisis and shepherding it toward war.

Twenty-two US senators have introduced into the 113th Congress, Second Session, a bill, S.2277, “To prevent further Russian aggression toward Ukraine and other sovereign states in Europe and Eurasia, and for other purposes.” https://beta.congress.gov/113/bills/s2277/BILLS-113s2277is.pdf The bill is before the Committee on Foreign Relations.

Note that prior to any evidence of any Russian aggression, there are already 22 senators lined up in behalf of preventing further Russian aggression.

Another botched execution? Arizona inmate took 2 hours to die

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer ordered a full review of the execution of Joseph Wood. The death row inmate remained alive, gasping for breath, for nearly two hours after the state began the execution.

The process began at 1:52 p.m. local time. After five minutes, officials reported Wood was sedated. At 2:02 p.m. he began breathing. A minute later, his mouth moved. The convicted killer was pronounced dead at 3:59 p.m. PT, one hour and 57 minutes after the execution started.

Wood’s lawyers filed an emergency court appeal Wednesday after the lethal injection did not immediately take effect, leaving him "gasping and snorting for more than an hour."

The Line Between FBI Stings and Entrapment Has Not Blurred, It’s Gone

This plot was devised with the direct guidance of a federal agent who infiltrated Ferdaus‘ mosque and even provided the fake explosives. An FBI agent said of Ferdaus to the convict’s father that he “obviously” is mentally ill.Ferdaus, who also suffered from severe depression, seizures, and had to wear adult diapers for bladder control problems, was the victim of the sort of FBI sting that crosses the fine line into entrapment. And these operations are no rarity.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS! ORIGINAL TEXT ARTICLE

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this world would be a happier and better world to live in. But if you wish to remain slaves of the Bankers and pay for the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." -- Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England in the 1920s, the second richest man in Britain

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is the original article for "All Wars Are Bankers' Wars" from which the broadcast and later the video were created. I am reposting it here for the new visitors from my GCN radio show and also for readers coming over the Daily Telegraph, where my comments on the article "The dollar's 70-year dominance is coming to an end"(link now repaired) have drawn some obvious shills insisting that wars have nothing to do with the banks, the US economy is just hunky dorey, and the US dollar has nothing to fear from the Ruble and Yuan.

Clearly the private central banmks are getting very nervous that the world is not only waking up to their financial scam, but recognizes that they, as masters of the medium of exchange, have made themselves masters of the world, and willingly send millions of young people to horrible death and disfigurement to increase their wealth and control.

US intel officials: Russia created 'conditions' that led to plane downing

Senior intelligence officials said Tuesday Russia created the “conditions" that led to the downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet over eastern Ukraine but stopped short of directly linking Moscow to the fatal missile strike.

The officials said-that anti Ukraine government forces, which are backed by Russia, likely fired the missile that took down Flight MH-17 last Thursday, killing all 298 aboard.

However, they made no direct link to Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If at first you don't succeed, lie lie again! -- Motto of the US Government.

Russia did not create the conditions that led too the plane's downing. That little coup last January that forced the elected government from Ukraine (with US and EU support) and replaced it with a Junta willing to make war on their own people created the conditions that led to the shoot down, and we are not ready to dismiss the likelihood that the shoot down of Flight 17 was the false-flag attack mentioned in leaked emails from the Kiev Junta last March as being needed to allow the United States to directly intervene in Eastern Ukraine.

This is probably why FOX News is not allowing comments on this article!

Apple engineered surveillance back door into 600 million iPhones

A highly skilled hacker who presented at the recent Hackers On Planet Earth (HOPE/X) conference in New York has dropped a massive bomb on the state of smartphone privacy. Jonathan Zdziarski, an active member in the iPhone development community who helped work on many early iOS "jailbreak" iterations, says Apple has deliberately engineered back door surveillance systems into the iPhone, allowing both the company and the government easy access to users' personal data.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ooooh, big shockeroonie that one!

NSA has back-doored EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT OUT THERE!

Once they start adding back doors, there is no way they would ever allow any one platform to remain private out of concern that this would be the platform of choice for people wishing to remain private.

Yes, it is a fine accomplishment that NerveGas found and identified the back-door and con firmed once again what we already knew abut a government violating the Bill of Rights and large corporations going along with this crime. And maybe this will shake up those few remaining Americans still desperately clinging to an image of benevolent and respectful government, but for those of us who have been watching the invasion of our privacy since the days of ECHELON, this comes as no surprise.

As we proved with our year-long series of NSA code challenges, real criminals and terrorists (not to mention foreign governments) can create encryption systems the NSA cannot break. So this massive spy system is all about keeping watch on YOU, the law-abiding American citizen, to make sure you are not thinking those double-plus ungood thoughts, to steal your business secrets, and to watch your wives and daughters walk around naked in front of their webcams!

That the smart phones are all compromised has been known all along and led to privacy products such as Privacy Case.

PrivacyCase - The Original Privacy Case For Your Cell Phone.

Stories of cell phone spying, tracking, stalking, and eavesdropping fill the airwaves and the internet, leaving users of these devices increasingly concerned about the security of their confidential data, geo-location (GPS), and voice communications. Criminals can compromise your phone even when you think your phone is turned off by utilizing back doors originally built into your wireless devices for law enforcement use.

Until now, there was no reliable method to defend against these intrusions. The "PrivacyCase” stops them immediately by allowing you to control when and where your device is accessed. Our electronically shielded protective case was designed to provide users of wireless devices with a method to counteract the attempted hijacking of communications data & geo-location transmissions while preventing the device from being used to eavesdrop on the activities of the user.

The Privatizing of Prisons

I'm seeing a disturbing trend in how our prisons are run in America these days. Our nation has more people in prisons than anywhere else in the world. More than Russia or China. Think about that. Land of the free? Not for some time. 96% of cases include pleas. Translated, that means that rather than take a chance of going to trial before a jury, most offenders will plead guilty to a lesser charge. A win/win situation unless you aren’t guilty. But their underpaid and overworked public defenders will convince them this is in their best interest. The police get to consider that a closed case. The judges add another feather to their hat and now, private prisons are the bottom feeders in this equation.

US Empire Reaches Breaking Point. “Greatest Threat to Humanity”. Time To End It

The people of the United States must work to end the interventionist violence of the U.S. Empire.

This is Part I of a two part series on American Empire. Part II will focus on the Empire Economy and [how] it is failing to work for most Americans as well as most people of the world.

The historian who chronicles US Empire, William Blum, issued his 130th Anti-Empire Report this week. In it he notes that the US, by far, is seen by the people of the world as “the greatest threat to peace in the world today” with 24% taking that view. Only 2% see Russia as such a threat, and 6% see China.

This should not come as a surprise since, as this map shows, much of the world has been bombed, had their democratically chosen government overthrown and has been occupied by the United States.

Obamacare hit by ruling, but subsidies to continue

President Barack Obama's health care law is enmeshed in another big legal battle after two federal appeals courts issued contradictory rulings on a key financing issue within hours of each other Tuesday.

A divided court panel in Washington called into question the subsidies that help millions of low- and middle-income people pay their premiums, saying financial aid can be paid only in states that have set up their own insurance markets, or exchanges.

About 100 miles to the south in Richmond, Virginia, another appeals court panel unanimously came to the opposite conclusion, ruling that the Internal Revenue Service correctly interpreted the will of Congress when it issued regulations allowing consumers in all 50 states to purchase subsidized coverage.

The White House immediately declared that policyholders will keep getting financial aid as the administration sorts out the legal implications.

Dirty Dealing Harry Reid

Rather than write an article on this, I thought I would just post an email I received this morning. Harry Reid is up to his usual tricks. You remember him. He's the one who owns land close to the public land that Cliven Bundy was running his cattle on. Reid, with his son working with the Chinese, was hoping to make a fortune over selling land to them. Our land, by the way. Federal property does not belong to these crooks in D.C. but to all Americans.

Now he's trying to ram through legislation that would allow for taxing activity on the Internet. This is only the camels nose in the tent. Once it starts, where does it stop? Let's fight to keep our Internet free. It seems that these politicians are desperate for more money. More taxation without representation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It isn't just the money. They can write the internet taxes in a way where large corporations survive by passing the tax along to their users while small independent media websites (like this one) are forced out of business.

BREAKING: Obamacare dealt massive setback by federal appeals court

Millions of Americans are not entitled to government health insurance subsidies under Obamacare because of the way the law is written, a divided three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday.

In a decision that could blow a massive hold in President Obama’s signature domestic achievement, the court held that people living in states that relied on the federal government to set up their insurance market exchanges cannot offer the subsidies considered critical to making coverage affordable.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the administration used an IRS rule to stretch the meaning of the Affordable Care Act, which said financial aid to to low- and middle-income people should only flow to exchanges “established by the State.” If that means only state-run exchanges, it would cut off subsidies to two-thirds of the nation.

The Overthrow of Humanity

As far back as recorded history and, no doubt, much further than that, some groups of people have been trying to take over the known world. Sometimes it is one person, with an enormous ego or self appointed right of entitlement. But just as often it’s a group. The rest of us are viewed by them as cattle, useless eaters, cannon fodder, these days, organ donors but certainly, in their way.

Many people I talk to have trouble believing or understanding the long range goals of these so-called elite because the things they do are so fantastic and evil. The very first thing you need to do is stop relating what they are accused of doing with what you would do. There is no comparison. These people would eat their own children (and no doubt have) if they thought it would further their evil agenda.

When the Government talks of Sanctions

Sanctions only serve the Government, not the People.

When a foreign country, such as Russia, Iran or Cuba, is at the receiving end of sanctions, only the people suffer. Americans suffer because they can’t export as much so they loose money. And the people in those foreign countries also suffer because they cannot receive the benefits of American-made products to make their lives better. In either case both governments benefit. How?

The US government enlarges its reach of power much like a two-bit mafia don: “Do what I say or else. Capisce?” It does not suffer because it produces nothing and its long arm is in every American pocket via the IRS and other tax authorities.

The foreign government is also happy because it too is a two-bit mafia don with its hands on every lever of the economy. When its people cannot progress they’re at its mercy: “Do what I say or no bread. Capisce?”

Michigan Food Seizure by Stealth, Welcome to Amerika

Jenny Samuelson was all set to do the deal dictated by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development: Dispose of nearly $5,000 worth of raw milk, cream, butter, eggs, and cheese. Under MDARD supervision, she was to bring the 250 gallons of milk to a neighboring farm, where the farmer would use it for fertilizer. The 10 gallons of cream and 20 pounds of butter would go in a dumpster. And the 100 dozen beautiful unwashed and unrefrigerated pastured eggs (raised without soy feed) would be smashed and turned into compost.

She would also discontinue all deliveries of cream and butter to herdshare members, despite their serious unhappiness about losing access to these foods.

But then the MDARD agents canceled out on the Saturday morning arrangements whereby they would observe the disposal of the food. They have now agreed to show up first thing Monday morning to watch the dirty deed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The government wants us all dependent on the large food corporations, even if what those corporations provide is inferior to naturally produced farm food. US Government Orders Farmers To Destroy 30 Million Pounds Of Their Own Crop

NY grandma jailed for violating protection order used to ‘quell dissent’ outside drone base

A New York grandmother was sentenced to a year in jail for violating a protection order filed by an Air National Guard commander against anti-war protesters.

Mary Anne Grady-Flores violated the protection order filed by Col. Earl Evans, prosecutors said, when she stepped on the grounds of Hancock Air Base to photograph a peaceful protest against the use of drones.

The judge imposed the maximum sentence July 10 for criminal contempt of court because the 58-year-old Grady-Flores had failed to pay fines and surcharges imposed by the court in a prior case.

Grady-Flores – the daughter of “Camden 28? Vietnam War protester John Grady — knew she was under court order to stay off base property, so she stood on a nearby roadway to photograph about 20 activists at the Ash Wednesday protest.

Her sister admits Grady-Flores briefly stepped onto a driveway on base property so another protester could show her how to take photos with an iPhone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"...Disorderly conduct for blocking the the roadway."?!?!? ARE YOU FLIPPING KIDDING ME?!?!?

I so hope this gets appealed and thrown out of court.

Apparently, grandmothers who are completely peaceful scare the excrement out of Col. Earl Evans, and the peaceful expression of opinions contrary to war, more war, and extrajudicial assassinations is not to be tolerated on his watch.

It also is a very informative window on Obama's mindset that one of his most favorite ways to wage war is with drone attacks, which not only take out the alleged "bad guy" with no due process, but also takes out scores of innocent people, either killing them outright, or maiming them for life.

Hawks Hint at Expanding Use of Never-Ending War 'Slush Fund'

A proposal for supplemental war funding was under scrutiny Wednesday at a Congressional hearing, where Defense Department officials hinted that there is no end in sight to the need for this counterterrorism "war chest."

At issue is nearly $60 billion proposed last month by the White House for Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) funds for the 2015 budget. The pot for OCO, which until 2009 was called Global War on Terrorism, is on top of the base budget for the Defense Department, which for the 2015 proposal is nearly $500 billion.

Mattea Kramer of the National Priorities Project has pointed out that the OCO budget "isn’t subject to caps or cuts or any restrictions at all." This has led some, like Stephen Miles, coalition coordinator for Win Without War, to refer to it as "a massive slush fund to avoid fiscal discipline."

Support Builds for Friday March to End Water Shutoff

Support is growing from labor, community, clergy, and environmental activists, along with those attending the national Netroots Nation convention in Detroit this week for a march and rally Friday July 18 to call for an immediate moratorium on the water shutoffs.
National Nurses United, the lead sponsor of the event, and the dozens of groups and activists organizations supporting the action, call the shutoff a public health emergency and a major violation of human rights. NNU is the largest U.S. organization of nurses.
Among the broad and growing list of local, national, and international endorsers are the International Union United Automobile, Aerospace & Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW AFL-CIO), Michigan Sierra Club, People’s Water Board, Food and Water Watch, Netroots Nation, Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO, Michigan Nurses Association, Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, We the People of Detroit, Moratorium Now!,and Michigan Welfare Rights Organization.

Detroit residents continue protest to remain in homes

Standing on West Grand Boulevard last week, Detroit resident Sheree Bass held up a sign that said, “Stop the racket. Pay the taxes.” Underneath the phrase, she had taped a copy of the Wayne County tax statement for the home she’s lived in for years. Total amount due: $7,939.11

The problem, Bass says, is she doesn’t own the home located near Eastern Market. It’s actually owned by Oakland County developer Peter Barclae.

Bass is currently locked in a legal battle in Wayne County Circuit Court, along with a dozen other Detroiters who say Barclae is trying to sling homes they should’ve owned by now. Barclae, of West Bloomfield Township, contends otherwise.

FLASHBACK - Rivero challenges the NSA

Nobody got this. The coffee mug is still in the box. I am batting 1000 against the NSA's cryptographers! My first NSA challenge came out over a year ago. Had I been a real terrorist, I would have had ample time to carry out my nefarious plans.

This proves that the NSA cannot and does not track real criminals and terrorists, but exists to spy on law-abiding Americans citizens on behalf of a government grown paranoid over public awareness of their crimes and corruption.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I decided to reprise this post, which is the history of the 6 challenges I hurled at the NSA over this last year to break a code created by an average human being.

Obviously the NSA would be well-motivated to break one of my codes to discourage other people from deciding to create their own encryption, but they never did. Even the claimed "Quantum Computer" which the NSA claimed could break any code failed.

The point is that the NSA's massive spying apparatus is incapable of finding and tracking real criminals or terrorists who have the resources needed to create and code their own encryption methods. I am not an expert cryptographer. I am only (after years of being away from it) a moderate C programmer. Yet I batted 1000 against the NSA fort an entire year.

Thus we are left with the conclusion that the NSA's massive spying operation is not about fighting terror, or even locating criminals, but about keeping watch on law-abiding Americans to deter us from thinking those double-plus ungood thoughts. That has not worked very well, in hindsight. No better than the NSA's ability to find the cyber-criminals planting ransomeware on your computers. Given that the NSA is desperate for some good publicity, you would think they would love to be able to put the head of a cyber-crook on a spike over the gates to their data center, but they haven't been able to manage that, which only reinforces my point.

Overwhelmed FCC Extends Deadline For Commenting On Net Neutrality

Today was supposed to be the deadline for filing comments with the FCC about its pending net neutrality proposal. But the Commission has just announced that, due to a surge in responses that is once again overwhelming its commenting system, the deadline has been extended to Friday.

“[W]e have seen an overwhelming surge in traffic on our website that is making it difficult for many people to file comments through our Electronic Comment
Filing System,” writes the FCC press secretary, who explains that the Commission “is committed to making sure that everyone trying to submit comments will have their views entered into the record.”

Thus, the deadline has been extended until midnight (presumably ET) Friday, July 18.

Florida inmate still on death row despite DNA proof of innocence discovered years ago

Years of legal wrangling over conclusive DNA evidence proving his innocence led the Florida Supreme Court to overturn Paul Hildwin’s murder conviction and death sentence two weeks ago. Yet Hildwin remains on death row.

Twenty-eight years after his conviction for a 1985 murder, Hildwin, 54, must wait - possibly for several months - for state prosecutors to decide whether to retry the case or drop the charges.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Common sense says let the guy go, but I am sure the Prosecutors don;t want an "overturn" on their score card or face the resulting civil suit for wrongful imprisonment. And, jokes about rabid wombats aside, this is why I cannot support the death penalty. The system makes mistakes. It punishes the wrong people either through mistake or political corruption (the current Tsarnaev trial being a good example.) And until we can restore life to those it is wrongfully taken from, we should not take it in the first place.

State police now fingerprinting every Texan

The Texas Department of Public Safety has quietly embarked on a project to take the fingerprints of every Texan old enough to drive over the next 12 years, and add them to a statewide criminal history database.

Not only has the department made that momentous decision on its own, it doesn’t even have clear legal authority to do so.

The credit for breaking the news on those two items goes to consumer affairs columnist Dave Lieber of the Dallas Morning News, whose long-running “Watchdog” column often shows up in my Google Alerts, for obvious reasons.

As an old-school columnist, Lieber tends to keep his opinions subdued, and he doesn’t generally call people dishonest. But I have no problem with doing that, so I’d like to point out that the DPS spokesman he quotes at length is less than straightforward about his department’s legal authority.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is Code Napoleon Law writ large, which assumes every person is guilty until proven innocent; this is the absolute antithesis of American law, which presumes that every person is innocent until proven guilty.

And to put this info into a criminal data base?!?!? Heck, I don't even have an overdue library book!!

A summit of major emerging “BRICS” economies in Brazil is the latest sign of the decline of the US dollar as the standard global currency for reserves and trading, James Rickards, author of Currency Wars told RIA Novosti.

"Balancing the SIGINT exchange equally between U.S. and Israeli needs has been a constant challenge in the last decade; it arguably tilted heavily in favor of Israeli security concerns. 9/11 came, and went, with NSA's only true Third Party CT relationship being driven almost totally by the needs of the partner," one slide reads.

Another slide states, "The Israelis are extraordinarily good SIGINT partners for us, but … they target us to learn our positions on Middle East problems. A NIE [National Intelligence Estimate] ranked them as the third most aggressive intelligence service against the U.S."

Surprise! FEC employee who admitted violating the Hatch Act suffers mysterious hard drive crash

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) on Monday made yet another request to the federal government for details about a crashed hard drive that may have contained information allowing criminal charges to be brought against a federal official.

Issa’s newest letter concerns the hard drive of April Sands, a former employee at the Federal Election Commission who resigned in the spring after admitting to violations of the Hatch Act. That law puts restrictions on the ability of government officials to conduct political activities while on the job, or from government offices.

Issa noted that while Sands admitted to violating the law, the FEC just recently told Congress that it could not recover her hard drive, which made it impossible to seek criminal charges against her.

The first story comes from South Carolina, where a mother was jailed and charged with “unlawful conduct toward a child” for . . . leaving her 9-year-old daughter alone to play in a park.

TSA Lets Illegals Fly Without ID, Harasses Mom Over Breast Milk

While the TSA is perfectly content to let illegal aliens (and by extension potential terrorists) fly without any proper form of ID, American moms like Nicole Moberg are being harassed over their breast milk.

On Friday it emerged that the TSA was allowing illegal aliens to fly on commercial airliners inside the U.S. without verifiable identification. As long as the individual was able to produce a Notice to Appear form, they were allowed to board the plane.

A TSA spokesperson immediately took to social media to deny the report, claiming media outlet Breitbart had lied about the story. However, the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) obtained a statement from the Border Patrol union which revealed that the TSA had reversed the policy in the aftermath of the Breitbart story.

Proof that NSA Is Still Lying About Spying on AmericansJuly 13th, 2014

The NSA has been caught in lie after lie about its surveillance on Americans. This is nothing new. An NSA whistleblower told Washington’s Blog:

They were asked 40 years ago whether NSA had bugged Congress. And, of course, they lied. They lied through their teeth.”

Two of NSA’s current lies are:

(1) NSA only accidentally and incidentally collects information about Americans, and it is really only focused on foreigners;

and

(2) NSA only spies on Americans’ metadata … not content

But high-level NSA whistleblowers Bill Binney, Thomas Drake and Russell Tice have all told Washington’s Blog that the NSA is spying on the content of Americans’ phone calls and emails.

And it is clear that the NSA – and other government agencies – have been spying on – and retaininginformation on – all Americans.

Beware the Dangers of Congress’ Latest Cybersecurity Bill

A new cybersecurity bill poses serious threats to our privacy, gives the government extraordinary powers to silence potential whistleblowers, and exempts these dangerous new powers from transparency laws.

The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2014 ("CISA") was scheduled to be marked up by the Senate Intelligence Committee yesterday but has been delayed until after next week's congressional recess. The response to the proposed legislation from the privacy, civil liberties, tech, and open government communities was quick and unequivocal – this bill must not go through.

The bill would create a massive loophole in our existing privacy laws by allowing the government to ask companies for "voluntary" cooperation in sharing information, including the content of our communications, for cybersecurity purposes. But the definition they are using for the so-called "cybersecurity information" is so broad it could sweep up huge amounts of innocent Americans' personal data.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What we absolutely do NOT have in this country is "cybersecurity"; what we do have is industrial-strength cyberinsecurity. This means nothng gets typed into your computer that you do not want the entire world, or universe, to read, and you do not say anythng on your phone that you do now want broadcast for the world to hear.

Of course, the really bad guys are already encrypted against this; it is just normal, innocent, ordinary working Americans who have to be concerned about this pernicious breach of privacy, should this bill get passed.

Man Sues Feds After They Target Him for Photographing Rainbow Art

When 86-year-old photographer James Prigoff paused to photograph a natural gas storage tank in Boston 10 years ago, he was simply doing what countless of tourists have done before. Justice declines to pursue allegations that CIA monitored Senate Intel staff

The Justice Department has decided not to pursue accusations that the CIA spied on the Senate Intelligence Committee and allegations that committee staff slipped classified documents from a secure agency facility, McClatchy has confirmed.

"The department carefully reviewed the matters referred to us and did not find sufficient evidence to warrant a criminal investigation," said Justice Department spokesman Peter Carr.

The news marks an apparent end to an extraordinary feud that spilled into the public forum in early March over the committee’s report on the agency’s post-9/11 enhanced interrogation program. The dispute included competing Justice Department referrals, with both the CIA and the Senate Intelligence Committee accusing the other side of criminal conduct throughout the course of the interrogation study.

Exclusive: More Military Bases Asked to Provide Facilities for Illegal Aliens

As the border crisis continues, the Department of Defense is requesting that additional military bases make housing facilities and land available to accommodate a continued influx of illegal alien children.

According to information provided exclusively to Breitbart through a source requesting anonymity, Major General John T. Winters has specifically requested installation support for the Department of Homeland Security to provide temporary housing to unaccompanied alien children. The request requires bases to report any facilities across the U.S. that meet the following minimum specifications: a 24,000 square foot building, 15 acres of land "level and clear," and access to utilities. The information is due to be reported by Wednesday afternoon, July 9. As the border crisis continues, the Department of Defense is requesting that additional military bases make housing facilities and land available to accommodate a continued influx of illegal alien children.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reason for housing these illegal immigrants on military encampments is simple; should reporters, or, God forbid, members of congress actually want to inspect these facilities to find out what is really going on, they can be rebuffed in the name of "national security"

Unfortunately, however, the United States of American HAS no "national security", courtesy of a deliberate Obama administration decision to completely leave our Southern borders undefended.

They are now undefended against disease; against possible "terrorists" sneaking in; and this economy will crash, because the US government doesn't have the money to pay for all of the services these illegal aliens will require.

But perhaps a "controlled economic crash" is precisely what the White House wants to have happen. As reported in zerohedge.com two days ago:

So just maybe the Fed fully intends on heeding the advice of the BIS, and is strategically positioning itself as a stalwart dove to shield itself from the public fallout of it’s orchestrated financial calamity. A particularly sound play from a political perspective in the event that things don’t go as smoothly as planned. One thing is certain at this point: An intentionally orchestrated crash is the direct recommendation of the BIS, per it’s annual report. That this action exists as a potential policy measure is now confirmed. The remaining question is: Would the Federal Reserve pursue such a policy measure openly, or behind the same curtains from which most of their historic policies were enacted. As we re-think Mrs. Yellen’s speech to the IMF, we are less certain that the Fed is as unwilling to intervene as Mrs Yellen would have us believe. Bringing forward the next leg of the cycle, may well be on the Fed’s agenda.

Germany Blesses “Bail-In” Deposit Confiscation Plan For Failing EU Banks

One year earlier than required, the German government approved plans to force creditors into propping up struggling banks across Europe. As WSJ reports, Germany “leads the way” in Europe by implementing European rules quickly and “creates instruments that allow the winding-down of big systemically relevant institutions without putting the financial stability at risk.” What this means is that taxpayers (theoretically) will not be on the hook (though in reality we are sure the mutually assured destruction defense will be played – especially if Deutsche runs into problems) but as German authorities explain, “This ensures that in times of crisis mainly owners and creditors will contribute to solving the crisis, and not taxpayers.” As a gentle reminder – creditors includes depositors… remember Cyprus?

U.S. officials played a role in Chilean killings following 1973 coup, says Chilean judge

It happened 41 years ago, but the aftershocks of an event known in Chile as “el once” continue to reverberate still.

Pronounced “el own-say,” the phrase means “the eleventh,” and it refers to the military coup on September 11, 1973, that overthrew the democratically elected government of Marxist president Salvador Allende, replacing it with 17 years of harsh dictatorial rule under Gen. Augusto Pinochet.

You may have seen the 1982 movie about the coup and its aftermath, entitled Missing, directed by Constantin Costa-Gavras, and starring Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek.

The film depicts events surrounding the capture and execution of two Americans – Charles Horman, 31, and Frank Teruggi, 24 – a crime carried out by Chilean security forces in the wake of the U.S-backed coup.

Think Tank Proposes $3.3 Trillion Tax Hike

America is undertaxed, and the result is underfunding of public investments that would improve our economy and the overall welfare of Americans. Fortunately, Congress has several straightforward policy options to raise revenue, mostly by closing or limiting loopholes and special subsidies imbedded in the tax code that benefit wealthy individuals and profitable businesses.

Webmaster's Commentary:

BULL BISCUITS! America is taxed to the point of paralysis! This think tank is operating from the mindset that all problems are solved by taking more away from the people, apparently clueless that We The People cannot pay these higher taxes in an age where wages and salaries are being hammered into the ground and 90 million Americans cannot find a job at all!

NSA Experts: 'National Security Has Become a State Religion'

For more than a year now, the world has closely followed revelations disclosed by former American intelligence worker Edward Snowden. The documents from the whistleblower's archive have fueled an at times fierce debate over the sense and legality of the National Security Agency's (NSA) sheer greed for data.

In its current issue, SPIEGEL conducted two interviews it hopes will contribute to the debate. The first is with two major critics of the NSA's work -- human rights activist and lawyer Jesselyn Radack, who represents Snowden, and former spy Thomas Drake. The second interview is with John Podesta, a special advisor to United States President Barack Obama.

Escalating Domestic Warfare

Last month, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) released a report titled “War Comes Home: The Excessive Militarization of American Policing,” shedding much needed light on the emergence of a militarist ethos in policing across the nation.

In a review of public records, such as incident reports, requested from more than 260 law enforcement agencies in 25 states and the District of Columbia, the ACLU found that, from the responses received, 818 SWAT operations from 20 local law enforcement agencies located in 11 states fully met their research criteria, which took geographic diversity into account, among other factors. The SWAT incidents that were analyzed fell in the time period between July 2010 and last October.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And a war against American citizens, courtesy of the Federal government, is precisely what we have going on right now. The ever-escalating police violence against Americans is only one symptom of the systemic problems with which we are dealing.

Good jobs continue to get offshored/outsourced with a vengeance; the US government is broke from these illegal and immoral wars; our education system is completely dysfunctional, save for a handful of private schools; between the Patriot Act, the Homeland Security Act, and the NDAA, the Constitution and Bill of Rights have been eviscerated; and homeless Veterans sleep in our streets, many times with zero ability to get the medical care they desperately need when they need it. Many of the people in Detroit have had their water turned off, but the US government has billions to fork out to Israel, even though this is illegal under the Symington amendment, because Israel is a nuclear armed nation which refuses to join the NNPT or have its nuclear sites inspected.

And Congress?!? Completely zero credibility these days, consisting mostly millionaires at this point, who don't give a damn about the citizens they allegedly represent, but spend all their time courting the large corporations which fund their election cycles.

This just...bites, and I frankly do not see any way out of it, short of either a complete economic collapse in the US, or a world war. Not a pleasant alternative either way.

Big Banks Want Power to Declare Cyber War

Wall Street’s biggest trade group has proposed a government-industry cyber war council to stave off terrorist attacks that could trigger financial panic by temporarily wiping out account balances, according to an internal document.

The proposal by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, known as Sifma, calls for a committee of executives and deputy-level representatives from at least eight U.S. agencies including the Treasury Department, the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security, all led by a senior White House official.

The trade association also reveals in the document that Sifma has retained former NSA director Keith Alexander to “facilitate” the joint effort with the government. Alexander, in turn, has brought in Michael Chertoff, the former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, and his firm, Chertoff Group.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is not only a lousy idea, but also, the charges depositors will ultimately face will be epically nasty. IF these services will cost one million dollars per month, you can bet your sweet bippy that it will not be the banks absorbing those costs at all.

Halbig v. Burwell: The next big Obamacare case

In brief, these cases claim the IRS has exceeded its statutory authority in authorizing tax credits and cost-sharing subsidies on federal exchanges because the PPACA only authorizes tax credits for the purchase of insurance on an exchange “established by the State under Section 1311.” Section 1311 instructs states to create exchanges. Federal exchanges are established under Section 1321 of the Act.

At one level these cases present a straightforward statutory interpretation question. The text is clear and does not contradict any other provisions in the Act. That would seem to settle the matter.

Why Is Obama Encouraging Illegal Immigration When We Can’t Take Care Of Millions Of Our Own Citizens?

It isn't an accident that our southern border is literally being flooded with illegal immigrants right now. Newspapers in El Salvador and Honduras have been publicizing how easy illegal immigration has become, and even the President of Honduras has said that people are coming to the United States for "Obama's amnesty".

When they arrive, thousands upon thousands of these illegal immigrants are using rehearsed answers that border patrol agents are hearing over and over again. Word has spread that if illegal immigrants claim that they are "fleeing gang violence" that it is more likely that they will be allowed to stay.

What we are witnessing down on the southern border is really unprecedented. It has been estimated that twelve times as many kids are crossing our borders illegally now compared to just a few years ago.

And they just keep on coming.

This is utter madness.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And what is Obama's true "intention" here?

My cynical guess is that this policy has three purposes.

First, to flood the marketplace with ultra-cheap labor, which large corporations, to whom Obama is beholden, love.

Secondly, to create generations of Democratic voters (if elections last much longer in this country)to give a party which has completely deserted and abandoned its alleged core principals, the edge in national elections.

Thirdly, to create a wellspring of revolt among Americans who are legally here, and/or born here, and desperate for some job, any job at all.

Nation-wide riots against illegal immigration would give Obama the excuse for suspending the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and instituting martial law, an action which he would just love to do.

His intention is crystal clear here.

The Looming Foreclosure Crisis: As the Fed Runs Out of Bullets, Local Governments Are Stepping In

Former Assistant Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts wrote on June 25th that real US GDP growth for the first quarter of 2014 was a negative 2.9%, off by 5.5% from the positive 2.6% predicted by economists. If the second quarter also shows a decline, the US will officially be in recession. That means not only fiscal policy (government deficit spending) but monetary policy (unprecedented quantitative easing) will have failed. The Federal Reserve is out of bullets.

Or is it? Perhaps it is just aiming at the wrong target.

US News: Hillary Clinton has raised over $1 billion from Wall Street

US News thinks that Hillary Clinton’s formidable fundraising ability is a giant advantage, and there is no doubt that it is. But it is also a liability. Ms. Clinton has raised over $1 billion from the #BailoutBanks over the last 2 decades. A key benefactor right now (also Obama’s in 2008) is Goldman Sachs, king of the #BailoutBanks.

But the money equation may be starting to change a bit. If voters percieve that a candidate is bought – and this is much easier to see with the Internet – they may actually make a candidate pay. Such was the case in Virginia last month. One of the things that knocked off Eric Cantor a month ago was a feeling that the powerful legislator was a representative of Wall Street. The Majority Leader lost even though he out raised his challenger in the primary 10 to 1. That’s not supposed to happen. The cronies count it not happening.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem with the way the political system functions in the US at this point in time, is that by the time candidates are vetted for national office by the major corporations, they are owned by those same corporations.

This is why legislation is generally great for corporations, but lousy for We the People.

Obamacare faces another court threat — and this one could be fatal

The threats to Obamacare just keep on coming……

A case before the U.S. Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia may determine the Affordable Care Act was written in such a way that it prevents the federal government’s HealthCare.gov web site from offering subsidies.

Now such a ruling would have a long way to go before it actually would become enacted — and a lot of legal hoops would have to be jumped through — but such a finding could be a show-stopper for Obamacare. More than 5 million of the 8 million who signed up for Obamacare through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ web site would thus not be eligible for tax credits. Most, presumably, would fall off the rolls of the insured.

SOURCE: Feds to Bring in Riot Squad Against Illegal Immigration Protesters

As illegal immigrants continue to spill across the U.S.-Mexico border, federal authorities are attempting to relocate the migrants from South Texas to housing facilities in states across the nation. One such facility is located in Murrieta, California, where a large group of protesters recently blocked a bus full of migrants from arriving. The protesters remain there, adamant that illegal immigrants don't get dumped in their town. But soon the concerned citizens may be forced to step down--Breitbart Texas has learned that federal agents plan to arrive in Murrieta on Monday with riot gear to ensure that another busload makes it to the housing facility.

Jeremy Oliver, a resident of Temecula, California--a town that neighbors Murrieta--told Breitbart Texas that local police officers warned the protesters that "it's going to get ugly."

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this report is, in fact, true, we may well see the maiming and killing of legal Americans protesting illegal immigrants being relocated into this country; many of these people are bringing with them disease (infectious TB and scabies,to name a few); drug connections, and/or a criminal past.

Is the Federal Government actually hoping to provoke a riot here, by taking these actions?!? I really have to shake my head and wonder.

The Department of Defense has threatened me with imprisonment in response to our report on the illegal alien shelter at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

In a certified letter sent to Infowars, the Defense Department claims that I engaged in “unauthorized photography and broadcast” which were somehow “detrimental” to the “safety and security of the installation” even though the photos of Lackland’s illegal alien shelter, which is housing nearly 2,000 illegals at a cost to taxpayers of around $250 per immigrant per day, were taken outside the shelter and are clearly in the public’s best interest.

“You are hereby put on notice that should you make unauthorized entry into any of the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) installations in the future, a debarment order will be issued,” stated the letter, which added that further action could lead to imprisonment.

If you are reading this, it means that you have ascended to the highest levels of government, so it's really, really important that you don't do or say anything stupid, and screw things up for the rest of us. The first thing to remember is that you are a figurehead, about as relevant to the direction of the state as a hood ornament is to the direction of a car -- but you are a very important distraction, the "smiling face" of the fist of power. So hold your nose, kiss the babies, and just think how good you would look on a stamp. Now, before we go into your media responsibilities, you must understand the true history of political power, so you don't accidentally act on the naive idealism you are required to project to the general public.

The absurd reason why the government stole my parents’ savings…

In the Land of the Free alone, there are hundreds of federal, state, and local agencies that have all the firearms and legal authority they need to kick in doors, freeze accounts, and seize assets.

You don’t even have to be doing anything wrong. Hell you don’t even need to be anywhere in the vicinity. If your ‘stuff’ just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, it can be confiscated.

Almost every week, some government agency is holding an auction of other people’s confiscated property.

And at nearly every one of them is some poor guy’s collection of gold eagles and Canadian Maple Leaf coins.

This is reason enough to consider holding at least a portion of your physical assets abroad.

Police Departments Ignore Rampant Sexual Assault by Officers

When the police caught up with Smith's attacker a couple weeks later, they discovered he was already standing trial for the rape and sexual assault of another woman. That case was dropped, and Smith's case was picked up soon after, resulting in a plea bargain of life sentence, with Smith's attacker eligible for parole after an initial five years and then again every three years. Smith said she has been writing letters to a prison psychosocial review board to revoke his parole eligibility every three years and has always been successful. Now, she said, he has more of a chance of getting out than ever because of recent rule changes to how the state's parole board operates.

Free speech banned: Student group sues 4 US universities that ‘stifle dissent’

Arguing that free speech is suffering at colleges across the US, an advocacy group filed lawsuits against four universities, seeking to strengthen the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) has filed lawsuits against four schools – Iowa State University, Ohio University, Chicago University and Citrus College in Glendora, California – that it says disrupt the flow of free speech in a number of ways, including the banning of particular T-shirts, for example, or by refusing to permit certain speakers address the student body on controversial issues.

According to the group’s estimate, about 60 percent of public universities and colleges have restrictions on rights guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Obese South Carolina Storm Trooper on Power Trip is Suspended

A suspended South Carolina state trooper threatened to use a Taser on Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Sam Montgomery during a traffic stop last week for speeding. South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. R.S. Salter shouted directions at Montgomery during the stop early Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 262-pound lineman attempts to comply when Salter tells him if he can't follow the commands 'the next thing you're going to get is the Taser.'

'Whoa,' Montgomery responds, 'I'm not trying to cause problems.'

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think the next generation taser ought to send the charge BOTH directions, so the police don;t use it unless they really need to!

Blackphone lands: World’s most spy-resistant phone sold out

Blackphone, the much-ballyhooed collaboration between anti-NSA encryption powerhouse Silent Circle, and Geeksphone, a company owned by a former tech prodigy, has begun shipping around the world. The initial inventory has already sold out.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given the long history of NSA back doors of commercial products, their desire to trick us all into thinking our privacy has returned, and the already growing suspicions regarding ProtonMail, I would not trust any secures communications system I did not create myself or at least get to inspect the source code for. I think Blackphone and ProtonMail are hoaxes to get people to stop taking steps to protect their data from the NSA.

Patent office didn’t receive a single public complaint before stripping Redskins trademark

The recent decision by an obscure administrative law board to cancel the Washington Redskins‘ trademark registrations came despite the fact the agency hadn’t received a single letter from a member of the public complaining about the team’s name, records show.

The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, which is part of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, ruled last month that the name was disparaging to American Indians. The team is appealing that decision.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, nobody had ever actually complained, not even the American Indians, and this government goofball desperate to keep his job just took it upon himself to create this whole mess out of thin air?!?

IRS scandal: Lawmakers fiercely demand Holder appoint special prosecutor

After many months of stonewalled investigations, "missing" subpoenaed emails, partisan bickering and uncooperative witnesses, House of Representatives chairmen from two congressional committees officially demanded on Monday that Attorney General Eric Holder appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) targeting of conservative organizations and the subsequent cover-up perpetrated by IRS staff members.

All but four nations are subject to NSA surveillance – new Snowden leak

Previously undisclosed files leaked to the media by former intelligence contractor Edward Snowden now show that the United States National Security Agency has been authorized to spy on persons in all but four countries.

One former senior defense official who spoke to the journalists on condition of anonymity said that the broad authority is allowed so that the US government is able to assess any developing situations around the world at the drop of a hat.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And on that last statement, OH, REALLY?!?

Then HOW, please could have the NSA's surveillance been that lousy, that it missed the rise of ISIS and ISIL in Iraq and Syria?!?!?

Huge demand for NSA-proof email: ProtonMail uses a month's server capacity in 3 days

ProtonMail promised to ignore law enforcement requests, according to FreedomHacker, "unless they are accompanied by an enforceable Swiss court order. These court orders are extremely difficult to obtain as the case must first work its way through the Swiss legal system which has strong privacy protections. And even then, we do not have access to user encryption keys so any data we do turn over would be encrypted."

Webmaster's Commentary:

I still recommend that people with large amounts of data to protect invest in the time to learn programming and develop their own code systems. Use the code snippets at my NSA Challenge as a guide. The 6th challenge expires Friday and nobody has broken the code (again). I am batting 1000 against the NSA at this point.

Government Stops Glenn Greenwald from Publishing His Big Snowden Revelation … But Others Will Release ALL of the Snowden Documents to Prevent a War

A month ago, Glenn Greenwald announced that he was going to publish his biggest story yet: the names of those the NSA has been spying on.

Earlier today, Greenwald tweeted that he would finally publish the story tonight at midnight.

8 hours later, he tweeted:

After 3 months working on our story, USG [the United States government] today suddenly began making new last-minute claims which we intend to investigate before publishing

Many responded that it’s a trap, and that the government is dishonestly and illegally censoring Greewald.

At the same time, Cryptome announced that all of the Snowden documents will be released in July … supposedly in order to avert a war.

“July is when war begins unless headed off by Snowden full release of crippling intel. After war begins not a chance of release,” Cryptome tweeted on its official feed. “Warmongerers are on a rampage. So, yes, citizens holding Snowden docs will do the right thing,” it said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The wait on the release of these documents is making me very nervous.

Cornered animals - and governments - are both very dangerous.

And if in fact the US government has a good sense of precisely what is in these documents, what will prevent them from going to war sooner than the July 18th-21st window?!?!?

The short answer, unfortunately, is...not much.

Conviction in "Cannibal Cop" Case Overturned

A federal judge overturned the 2013 conviction of a former NYPD police officer who was accused in a gruesome plot to kidnap women, cook them and dine on their “girl meat,” and he was set to be released Tuesday.

The kidnapping conspiracy conviction against Gilberto Valle was rejected by Manhattan Federal District Court judge Paul G. Gardephe, who said there was not enough evidence to support it, according to the New York Times. Valle faced a sentence of up to life in prison for that conviction.

PayPal freezes out NSA-proof, encrypted ProtonMail

PayPal has restricted payments to and from ProtonMail, a Swiss-based email service offering full end-to-end encryption, “pending further review.” When pressed, PayPal questioned the legality of the anti-snooping service.

ProtonMail announced the payment freeze in a statement Tuesday, saying PayPal had made no attempt to contact them before shutting them out.

“When we pressed the PayPal representative on the phone for further details, he questioned whether ProtonMail is legal and if we have government approval to encrypt emails, the statement read.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We don't need government permission to encrypt our emails or data. The Fourth Amendment gives us that right.

The European Union prepares the ‘solidarity clause’ framework for military use against citizens

The use of the “European Gendarmerie Force” (EUROGENDFOR) is made ??possible by the “solidarity clause” as Heise reported. At the unit, headquartered in Vicenza, Italy, all EU Member States are involved, the Gendarmerien, so police forces with military status are used. One of the founding countries of the EUROGENDFOR include Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands. We provide our services to the police unit of the EU, NATO or the UN.

“The ‘solidarity clause’ is redundant, since the EU already has mechanisms for mutual assistance in case of disasters. Secondly, the clause amplifies the course to a militarization of domestic politics, since upon request military can be used in another Member State.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If I were a citizen of any EU country where these laws apply, I would be contemplating a very quick migration elsewhere, particularly if I had children and skills.

Dictatorship arrives softly, generally in small, stealthy increments, before you even know it is there. And by the time you realize what has happened, it is too late to change things, or to run.

U.S. Relies On Law from Governments Which Don’t Even HAVE a Constitution to Justify Assassination of U.S. Citizens By Drone

The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says:

No person shall … be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law ….

So how did the legal memorandum “justifying” assassination of U.S. citizens by drone try to sidestep the Fifth Amendment?

It relied on reasoning from two countries that don’t have any constitution.

The New York Times reports:

One might have expected a thoughtful memo that carefully weighed the pros and cons and discussed how such a strike accords with international and Constitutional law.

Instead, the memo turns out to be a slapdash pastiche of legal theories — some based on obscure interpretations of British and Israeli law — that was clearly tailored to the desired result. Perhaps the administration held out so long to avoid exposing the thin foundation on which it based such a momentous decision.

Neither England nor Israel have a constitution.

11 Shocking Facts About America's Militarized Police Forces

In June, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) brought more attention to police militarization when it issued a comprehensive, nearly 100-page (appendix and endnotes included) report titled, “War Comes Home: The Excessive Militarization of American Policing.” Based on public records requests to more than 260 law enforcement agencies in 26 states, the ACLU concluded that “American policing has become excessively militarized through the use of weapons and tactics designed for the battlefield” and that this militarization “unfairly impacts people of color and undermines individual liberties, and it has been allowed to happen in the absence of any meaningful public discussion.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are very lucky here in Hawaii that we do not have a lot of this kind of behaviour on the part of the police; not that it absolutely doesn't happen, but it is far rarer than for people on the mainland.

But the other aspect of the militarization of the police this article doesn't address is the training of the US police by Israel's IDF, which makes US police view American citizens very much the way the IDF views - and treats - Palestinians.

Watch Out for that Banana Peel

Recently, the EU announced that it is looking into legislation to allow the savings of EU citizens to "be used to fund long-term investments to boost the economy and help plug the gap left by banks since the financial crisis."

Sounds reasonable enough. But why would legislation be needed? It's perfectly legal for people to invest their savings in such ventures now, should they choose to do so.

Let's see what else the EU have to say: They are considering a law "to mobilize more personal pension savings for long-term financing." Mobilise? An odd term to use when discussing privately held savings. It could mean "encourage investment," or it could just as easily mean "confiscate." The former might be okay, but the latter would clearly not.

Why do we hate the poor?

Today, families in Detroit, living under an emergency manager imposed by a governor committed to privatizing every inch of the state, are having their water shut off. A few days ago, the United Nations, at the behest of local activists, issued a statement on the shutoffs.

This is what it’s come to – appealing to an international body to uphold the basic human right to water.

This man claims Microsoft stole his greatest idea — & Android users are still paying for it 18 years later

“It was like the Wild West,” Morris told me. Amidst all the competition and innovation in the 1990s, lines of ethics and justice were blurred. “I didn’t think they’d actually get a patent on it, because for a patent you need something novel,” Morris said, “and we’d been selling it already for well over a year.”

U.S. Patent 6,101,510 makes absolutely no mention of V_Graph or its browser extension. According to Section 101 of the U.S. Patent Act, an invention is patentable if it is new, useful, and non-obvious. According to Morris, Microsoft’s patent meets only one of those requirements. Since V_Graph had sold the technology a year prior, it’s nothing new. Since the technology itself is simply the combination of a browser and a software component, it’s nothing non-obvious. Yet, since millions of Android users are forking over licensing fees to Microsoft, it’s clearly useful.

The Death of Independence

July 4th has been the national birth date since the inception of the country. Americans want to celebrate past glories because there are few reasons to believe that the current government or society is worthy of rejoicing. Deifying the Founding Fathers and their wisdom usually is rooted upon the construction of a constitution based on separations of powers and shared authorities with individual states. Lost in this commemoration is the concept of true and lasting independence.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS! UPDATED!

I am helping Zane collect material for an updated version of the video for "All Wars are Bankers' Wars" and decided to add them to the original article as illustrations.

At present, this article and video are being chased around the net by an obvious team of paid propagandists attacking everything in it, denouncing it all as "fake" and "conspiracy", that I am a "commie kook", and how Private Central Bankers are a beacon unto the world, the salvation of us all, yadda yadda yadda from which I deduce that the schemers behind Private Central Banking are getting very worried indeed that the people of planet Earth are onto their little centuries old scam!

Big Brother is Coming to Healthcare – How Hospitals are Entering Your Credit Card Info Into Algorithms

The article below is a great example of the unforeseen dangers of creating gigantic bureaucratic systems into which hundreds of millions of people are forced into involuntarily, i.e., Obamacare.

Naturally, now that we have Obamacare all sorts of invasive things are going to be justified for the “greater good.” As Bloomberg notes in the important article below, you may soon be getting calls from your doctor about your personal habits thanks to credit card data mining. If people want to opt-in to such a system fine, but if this is imposed upon the population involuntarily, there is only one word to describe it: Tyranny.

Here are some excerpt from the extremely creepy Bloomberg article:

You may soon get a call from your doctor if you’ve let your gym membership lapse, made a habit of picking up candy bars at the check-out counter or begin shopping at plus-sized stores.

Martin Armstrong Warns Civil Unrest Is Rising Everywhere: "This Won't End Pretty"

The greatest problem we have is misinformation. People simply do not comprehend why and how the economic policies of the post-war era are imploding. This whole agenda of socialism has sold a Utopian idea that the State is there for the people yet it is run by lawyers following their own self-interest. The pensions created for those in government drive the cost of government up exponentially with time. The political forces blame the rich and this merely creates a class warfare with no resolution for the future. Even confiscating all the wealth of the so-called rich will not sustain the system. Consequently, we just have to crash and burn and start all over again.

The US put pressure on Danish authorities to close the Kurdish Roj TV channel in order to appease Turkey. This was done so Anders Fogh Rasmussen's position as NATO secretary general would be secure, the station's lawyer told RT amid WikiLeaks revelations.

Obama ignores Boehner’s lawsuit threat: ‘I’ll keep taking actions on my own’

Seemingly unfazed by the threat of a lawsuit, President Obama on Saturday vowed to press on and use executive actions wherever and whenever possible.

In his weekly address, the president didn’t directly address House Speaker John A. Boehner’s announcement earlier this week that he’ll sue Mr. Obama for supposed abuses of executive authority.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For a guy who claims to have been a professor of Constitutional law, Obama has it flat out wrong. Under the Constitution, the President's job is to carry out the will of the Congress. The Executive Order is merely the formal device by which the President executes the will of the Congress, and Presidential Executive Orders are binding only on the federal Government itself, not the people of the United States. Executive orders created out of the President's own mind are invalid, null, and void.

‘Sneak & peek’ warrants allow police to secretly enter homes without notice

A little-known police tactic allows cops to covertly enter private residences, perform searches, seize property, and then leave quietly without notifying the homeowner. These searches, affectionately known as “sneak and peek” warrants, have been performed at a rapidly rising rate since 9/11.
Covert Tactics

Sneak and Peek warrants in actuality a more extreme version of the over-used “no-knock” raids that we cover so often. After seeking out a judge’s authorization, police are allowed to secretly break into private property without first announcing themselves or presenting the subject of the search with a signed warrant. Using this variety of warrant, officers intentionally wait until the subject is not present. The operations are performed covertly, and with the intention of masking the fact that any police activity took place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ever noticed that since 9/11, police departments across the country have backslid to an unofficial Code Napoleon view of American law, in which the suspect is considered guilty until they are proven innocent?!?

This is absolutely the polar opposite of what the Constitution and Bill of Rights are allegedly supposed to afford American citizens!

U.S. Says It Spied on 89,000 Targets Last Year, But the Number Is Deceptive

About 89,000 foreigners or organizations were targeted for spying under a U.S. surveillance order last year, according to a new transparency report. The report was released for the first time Friday by the Office of the Director of Intelligence, upon order of the president, in the wake of surveillance leaks by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

But the report, which covers only surveillance orders issued in 2013, doesn’t tell the whole story about how many individuals the spying targeted or how many Americans were caught in the surveillance that targeted foreigners. Civil liberties groups say the real number is likely “orders of magnitude” larger than this.

“Even if it was an honest definition of ‘target’—that is, an individual instead of a group—that also is not encompassing those who are ancillary to a target and are caught up in the dragnet,” says Kurt Opsahl, deputy general counsel of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now, let me see: who is the US government going to consider "foreign nationals" with whom we are in regular contact?!?

Oh, I know: many of the sisters and one priest at the Catholic church which coordinates with my Methodist church to create a food distribution program, both for state-declared food insecure kids and insecure adults and family, are from India!!

And even though these beautiful souls work tirelessly to create a little better quality of life for those less fortunate, and do their best to do the work followers of Christ believe that they should do, I would not bet against these people surveilled, simply because they ARE from a foreign country.

And here is where the surveillance program, in and of itself, becomes... like a metastasizing cancer, completely out of control.

These people are pacifists, who would never, EVER advocate harm to ANYONE. To be surveilling them would be an amazingly stupid waste of taxpayer money, and personnel.

But again, given the paranoia of the current government, I wouldn't put odds against them being surveilled.

Predictive Policing Is Not Like 'Minority Report' — It's Worse

The defenders and promulgators of data-driven, predictive policing — which is meant to anticipate crimes before they happen — face a PR problem: reassuring the public against fears that such methods are ushering in a totalitarian future reminiscent of the science-fiction film Minority Report.

Concerns about preemptive crime fighting through data hoarding and analysis are hard to assuage, however, because they are perfectly valid.

All Hands On Deck program to begin in DC

Police kick off a weekend initiative to fight summer crime called "All Hands On Deck."

That means more officers will be stationed on city streets requiring all of them to work eight hour shifts.

I have to wonder if this is more about some "expected unrest" than about crime per se.

Portions of the District of Columbia are desperately poor, and if any welfare, or food is cut, that might be the match that ignites a powder keg.
