State Department to hike renunciation fees to US$2,350; says “no public benefit” in respecting human right to change nationality

Confirming reports passed on by commenters at the Isaac Brock Society, DiploPundit points to a State Department interim rule just placed on public inspection for printing in tomorrow’s Federal Register, which raises the fee for renunciation of U.S. citizenship (but apparently not relinquishment) to US$2,350, more than twenty times the average level in other high-income countries. As they state:

[D]emand for the service has increased dramatically, consuming far more consular officer time and resources, as reflected in the 2012 Overseas Time Survey and increased workload data. Because the Department believes there is no public benefit or other reason for setting this fee below cost, the Department is increasing this fee to reflect the full cost of providing the service. Therefore the increased fee reflects both the increased cost of the provision of service as well as the determination to now charge the full cost.

Landmark civil rights legal records deleted from Pacer

Records of landmark US civil rights cases presided over by one of the country's most senior judges have been removed from the internet.

The state-run Public Access to Court Electronic Records (Pacer) service deleted numerous court documents deemed incompatible with a software upgrade.

These included appeals heard by Justice Sonia Sotomayor prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court.

A famous racial discrimination case was among the expunged files.

Do not use Safety Deposit Boxes

According to in-house memos now circulating, the DHS has issued orders to banks across America which announce to them that “under the Patriot Act” the DHS has the absolute right to seize, without any warrant whatsoever, any and all customer bank accounts, to make “periodic and unannounced” visits to any bank to open and inspect the contents of “selected safe deposit boxes.”

Further, the DHS “shall, at the discretion of the agent supervising the search, remove, photograph or seize as evidence” any of the following items “bar gold, gold coins, firearms of any kind unless manufactured prior to 1878, documents such as passports or foreign bank account records, pornography or any material that, in the opinion of the agent, shall be deemed of to be of a contraband nature.”

Victor White's Family Disputes Claim That Handcuffed Man Killed Himself

The attorney representing the family of Victor White III -- a 22-year-old man who authorities claim shot and killed himself while locked in a patrol car with his hands cuffed behind him -- says police are not only responsible for his death but launched a cover-up immediately afterwards.

"He didn't kill himself," Louisiana attorney Carol Powell Lexing told The Huffington Post. "They killed him and they have been covering it up instead of dealing with the rogue cop within their department. The bigger question is why did they kill this boy?"

Florida Police Chief Defends Cops’ Aggressive, Violent and Life-Threatening Reaction Against Men Video Recording them

Boynton Beach Police Chief Jeffrey Katz defended the aggressive reaction of his officers in a Youtube video Tuesday, claiming the men in the car were “escalating” the situation by “recording the interaction,” causing one of the officers to fear for his life when a man “reached out of his window with a black object in his hand,” which was nothing more than a camera phone trying to record the cop’s name tag after he refused to provide it.

That cop slapped the phone out of his hand, then yanked the man out of the car, throwing him facedown on the grass while another cop with his gun drawn comes charging towards the other men, threatening to shoot one of them for who knows what.

“I’ll put a round in your ass so quick,” the cop said, even though none of the men in the car were doing anything more than being assertive about their rights, even if they were doing it in a profane manner, which is protected by the First Amendment.

‘The Chinafication of America’: Reaction to Obama Bypassing the Senate with UN Climate Treaty: ‘Obama is taking a page from China’s government’

New York Times: ‘U.S. seeking climate deal that would skirt Senate’: 'Under the Constitution, a president may enter into a legally binding treaty only if it is approved by a two-thirds majority of the Senate. To sidestep that requirement, President Obama’s climate negotiators are devising what they call a “politically binding” deal that would “name and shame” countries into cutting their emissions...American negotiators are instead homing in on a hybrid agreement — a proposal to blend legally binding conditions from an existing 1992 treaty with new voluntary pledges. The mix would create a deal that would update the treaty, and thus, negotiators say, not require a new vote of ratification.’

Cambridge Mace's Lane Middle School Teacher on Administrative Leave

He's a man with many names, and the books he has written have raised the concerns of the Dorchester County Board of Education and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

Early last week the school board was alerted that one of its eighth grade language arts teachers at Mace's Lane Middle School had several aliases. Police said that under those names, he wrote two fictional books about the largest school shooting in the country's history set in the future.

Video shows police shot Ohio man ‘on sight’ as he leaned on toy gun in Walmart, attorney says

John Crawford III died Aug. 5 after police were called to Walmart in Beavercreek, near Dayton, by another shopper who reported a man carrying what appeared to be an AR-15 rifle.

The 22-year-old Crawford was instead carrying an unpackaged MK-177 (.177 caliber) BB/pellet rifle he picked up in the store’s toy department.

Police claim Crawford ignored their commands to drop the weapon, and the former Marine who called in the report and witnessed the shooting said Crawford “looked like he was going to go violently.” But attorney Michael Wright said surveillance video from the incident, which Ohio’s attorney general allowed him to watch with Crawford’s family, contradicted those accounts.
“John was doing nothing wrong in Walmart, nothing more, nothing less than shopping,” Wright said.

Tanks on the Streets? Police Required to Use Military Equipment within a Year or Return It

The militarization of America’s police forces has been the result of federal policy that not only provides the means to give men-in-blue the same tools as combat soldiers, but in fact requires law enforcement to “use it or lose it” when it comes to military equipment.

Specifically, the Department of Defense’s 1033 program—which funnels all kinds of military surplus goods to police—has a provision that clearly says that any participating law enforcement agency must use its equipment within one year of receiving it. If they don’t, they have to give it up.

There is legislation before Congress to do something about corporations renouncing their US "citizenship." The odds are that Republicans will block it -- and not just because they have obstructed everything else.

There is a wave of news about corporations using a technicality called an "inversion" to renounce their US "citizenship." An inversion is when a US company buys or merges with a non-US company, and then pretends it is no longer a US company. Today it's Burger King. Not long ago it was Walgreens.

Bill Passes Allowing Police To Shut Off ALL Cell Phones … Remotely

Police and others would have the ability to shut off cell phones anytime they wanted under a bill passed by California’s state legislature, privacy experts say.

Senate Bill (SB) 962 would require manufacturers to add a “kill switch” to cell phones that would let authorities turn the device off remotely. The stated goal of the bill is to allow owners of smartphones to “kill” their phone if it’s stolen, but privacy experts say the bill’s language could be twisted. Additional language was needed, they add.

“If you give law enforcement a tool that can be abused, you’ll have an instance of asking for forgiveness rather than permission,” Jack Laperruque, an expert on privacy at the Center for Democracy and Technology, told The Hill. Laperruque believes authorities could use the kill switch to shut down communications during protests or incidents of civil unrest such as the riots in Ferguson, Missouri.

Federal Judge: Kauai's GMO Law Is Invalid

A Kauai County law requiring companies to disclose their use of pesticides and genetically modified crops is invalid, a federal judge ruled Monday.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry Kurren ruled in favor of four seed companies seeking to stop Kauai's new law from going into effect in October.

Syngenta Seeds, DuPont Pioneer, Agrigenetics Inc., doing business as Dow AgroSciences, and BASF Plant Sciences sued for a permanent injunction, arguing the ordinance unfairly targets their industry.

Kurren's ruling agrees that the ordinance is pre-empted by state law. The judge's ruling stops the county from enforcing the ordinance.

Top general: Islamic State extremists will ‘soon’ pose a threat to the United States

The US military’s top general believes Islamic State extremists will “soon” pose a threat to America and Europe and that an international coalition will be needed to confront it, his spokesman said Monday.

US commanders are preparing possible “options” to counter IS jihadists both in Iraq as well as Syria, according to General Martin Dempsey’s spokesman, Colonel Ed Thomas.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel adopted a more strident tone last week at a Pentagon news conference, suggesting the IS militants presented a dire threat that surpassed the danger posed by the Al-Qaeda network.

But Pentagon officials insisted Hagel and Dempsey shared the same views on the IS.

Dempsey “believes that ISIS (Islamic State) is a regional threat that will soon become a threat to the United States and Europe,” Thomas said in a statement.

“He (Dempsey) believes that ISIS must be pressured both in Iraq and in Syria,” he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Defense Secretary Hagel and General Dempsey: could you possibly telegraph anymore loudly that some elements in this country are gearing up for another false flag, upon which to justify yet more war against....whoever the next target is supposed to be, to prevent the collapse of the US dollar?

Gentlemen, I would strongly suggest to you that IF there is another false flag in this country, skeptical, war-weary Americans will have no stomach for it whatsoever.

Iraq has cratered; Afghanistan is cratering, and Libya has cratered, not to mention other military interventions we're not supposed to know about (like the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.)

And if such an even happens, it will demonstrate, incontrovertibly, that everything this country's military and security agencies have done to prevent it have been absolutely, thoroughly, useless and irrelevant!!

And that, gentlemen,is when the American people will wake up, and get angry.

Oklahoma City bombing: Claims of second accomplice and FBI intimidation

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, US District Judge Clark Waddoups scheduled a November 13th hearing on the matter, in which Utah attorney Jesse Trentadue accused the FBI of threatening to eliminate a former undercover agent’s health benefits if he took the stand. The former agent reportedly knew convicted bomber Timothy McVeigh.

The core of the issue is that Trentadue claims the FBI has surveillance video revealing McVeigh carrying out the Oklahoma City bombing with an accomplice. The FBI adamantly denies that such video exists, and the government has insisted repeatedly that McVeigh acted alone in the event that killed 168 people.

The witness involved in this whole situation, John Matthews, was scheduled to testify regarding this alleged video in July, but withdrew at the last minute. Trentadue – as well as a freelance journalist named Roger Charles – stated that when he spoke with Matthews about his absence, the former agent told them the FBI threatened him.

Like its other associated agencies, the FBI no longer has any credibility whatsoever.

VIRTUAL 9-11: Will the US & Israel Hack The US Banking System Computers and Falsely Blame It On Iran (or Syria or Russia or China)?

So what it looks like is being planned, and pre-sold to the American people with all these stories about celebrities' personal information being hacked and made public (an activity that produces no profit for the hackers other than news headlines), and the "Syrian" (nudge nudge wink wink) hack of the AP Twitter feed that shocked the US stock market, is that the US Government will itself take down the US financial computers, and blame it on Iran /Russia/ China/Al Qaeda/Syria/Arabs and others to be named as convenient. This gets Wall Street and Washington DC off the hook, because now the financial melt-down is an act of war, rather than the result of decades of Wall Street crime and corruption and the predations of Private Central Banks. The Old World Order

The immediate and obvious point to make here is that readers should/must immediately become deeply suspicious any time we are bombarded with a label which contains the word “new”. Implicit in every such label (by definition) is the concept that “this time it’s different”, because if it wasn’t different it wouldn’t be “new”.

“This time it’s different” is a cliché in Western societies. But it’s not revered as an aphorism of wisdom. Rather, it is scorned as the mantra of idiots. This same point was made in a previous commentary which debunked and rejected the ludicrous propaganda euphemism: “The New Normal”. The same analysis applies to both propaganda lies.

WHAT IF THERE IS A 'BANG' INSIDE THE UNITED STATES?

Most people, myself included, are of the opinion that such an event will be another fake terror attack, like 9-11, to be blamed on the target of the pending invasion but actually carried out by the US and Israel. According to a recent poll, a majority of Americans hold that view of 9-11 itself. After the lie about stolen incubators that tricked us into the first invasion of Iraq and the lie Saddam's nuclear weapons that tricked us into the second invasion of Iraq, prudence demands we expect more of the same from our "leaders."

But for the hard core true believers, the men and women so scared of the US Government that they will not even allow the merest hint of doubt or question to enter their minds, lest their souls be eternally damned, the ones so wrapped in the flag that all the blood to their brains has been cut off, I will tell you what another big "bang" inside the US is likely to mean to them.

A big "bang" means the Department of Homeland Security is a total failure.

Abolish the TSA

Recently, there has been a public backlash against new airport screening procedures. Passengers rightfully object to scanners that reveal their naked bodies, and to enhanced pat-downs that would be considered sexual assault anywhere else.

John Tyner summed up this backlash perfectly: "Don't touch my junk!"

We object to these new procedures. They are just the latest symptoms of a series indignities imposed upon us since 9/11, such as . . .

Being forced to remove belts and shoes when screened
Seeing toothpaste and nail clippers confiscated

The underlying, absurd logic is that if you intend to board an airplane, you sacrifice your Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures. The right to travel—as fundamental a right as there is in a free society—has been turned on its head.

---

Even when the TSA tries to be helpful, it humiliates us. For instance, the TSA's PreCheck program is designed to speed people through security checkpoints.

Ruby Ridge REVEALED - "Victim" Vicki Weaver - The UN-DEAD Anniversary Special

Webmaster's Commentary:

For those who don't remember, the FBI sent an informant over to Randy Weaver to ask him to saw off part of the barrel of a shutgun. The FBI informant just pointed to a part of the barrel and said "here" and Randy sawed it off, not realizing that "here" was 1/4 inch inside the legal definition of a sawed-off shotgun. The FBI hoped that by setting him up for a weapons charge, Randy would be forced to spoy on his neighbors for them, a common trick used by the Soviets. But Randy refused to go along and the FBI charged him, then changed the court date for Randy's while "losing" the notification of the change that was supposed to be sent to Randy. So the FBI was able to issue an arrest warrant for Randy Weaver which led to the standoff at Ruby Ridge. Following the same pattern of "leave nobody alive to contradict the official story", the FBI shot and killed Randy Weaver's wife, Vicky, their son, and wounded Randy and others. Congress held hearings exonerating the FBI for shooting and killing a woman holding a bay while the corporate media demonized Randy ans his family as kooks not worthy of sympathy (as they did following Waco).

Ferguson: No justice in American police state

There are reports that American police kill 500 or more Americans every year. Few of these murdered Americans posed a threat to police. Police murder Americans for totally implausible reasons. For example, a few days before Michael Brown was gunned down in Ferguson, John Crawford picked up a toy gun from a WalMart shelf in the toy department and was shot and killed on the spot by police goons.

It appears that the murder of Michael Brown did not satisfy the blood lust of the goon thug cop murderers. Less than four miles from Ferguson, goon thugs murdered another black man on August 19. The police claims of “threat” are disproved by the video of the murder. You can see the entire scene much better here. This is a clear case of outright murder of a man by our Nazi Gestapo police. The police then handcuff their dead victim.

Turning America Into a War Zone, Where ‘We the People’ Are the Enemy

Life in the American police state is an endless series of don’ts delivered at the end of a loaded gun: don’t talk back to police officers, don’t even think about defending yourself against a SWAT team raid (of which there are 80,000 every year), don’t run when a cop is nearby lest you be mistaken for a fleeing criminal, don’t carry a cane lest it be mistaken for a gun, don’t expect privacy in public, don’t let your kids walk to the playground alone, don’t engage in nonviolent protest near where a government official might pass, don’t try to grow vegetables in your front yard, don’t play music for tips in a metro station, don’t feed whales, and on and on.

For those who resist, who dare to act independently, think for themselves, march to the beat of a different drummer, the consequences are invariably a one-way trip to the local jail or death.

Why would a Jew post vile anti-Semitic comments? Because normal people are offended by – and don’t want to be associated with – pure, naked anti-Semitism, and so they will avoid such discussions. If the discussion was originally criticizing a specific aspect of Israel policy, the discussion will break down, and the actual point regarding policy will be lost.

Similarly, anti-Semitic posts weaken websites by making them seem less reputable. Indeed, Common Dreams says that the troll’s anti-Semitic comments drove away many of that site’s largest donors … dealing a severe blow to its continued viability. That’s exactly what trolls spewing anti-Semitic bile are trying to do: shut down logical discussion and discredit and weaken sites which allow rational criticism of policy.

Got weapons? Nude body scanners easily defeated

Researchers are delivering a paper at a security conference Thursday highlighting how easy it is to get weapons through the nude body scanners that have been removed from US airports but have been placed at other government installations across the globe.

The report, given at the Usenix Security Symposium in San Diego, highlights the insecurity of the Rapiscan Secure 1000 Single Pose "backscatter" scanner that once was used throughout the nation's airports but are now deployed at US prisons and courthouses, as well as airports in Africa. The paper, "Security Analysis of a Full-Body Scanner," from researchers at the University of California-San Diego, University of Michigan, and Johns Hopkins University, confirms what even laymen researchers had already discovered: hiding weapons on the side of one's body defeats the machine (PDF).

Money And Power: The Real Reason For The NSA Spying On Everyone

We noted that Booz Allen Hamilton (yes, the last employer of one Ed Snowden) had hired former NSA director and also Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell as its Vice Chairman. He was the leading voice out there screaming about the threat of "cyberwar" getting on TV and having lots of opinion pieces in big name publications -- all of which mentioned his former government jobs, but almost none of which mentioned that his current employer, Booz Allen Hamilton, stood to make billions selling "solutions" to the government. And, indeed, Booz Allen has been raking in the cash on "cybersecurity."

Weapons fired in Ferguson come from companies supplying Israel, Bahrain and Egypt

When tear-gas was first fired into the streets of Ferguson, Missouri at people angry at the police killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown, Palestinian activists sent out messages on Twitter giving people tips for how to deal with tear gas’ effects.

And there was another direct connection between events in Missouri and the West Bank, as Palestinian activist Mariam Barghouti noted: the company that supplies the Israeli army with tear gas is the same company supplying the police in Ferguson.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The American people are being treated by the US police the way the Palestinians are treated by the IDF.

Government's Response To Snowden? Strip 100,000 Potential Whistleblowers Of Their Security Clearances

The government swears it protects whistleblowers but the efforts it makes undermines its assertions. Telling people the government is targeting them for reasons it doesn't seem to be able to put into words is called a "criminal act." But here's the most surprising fact from Evanina's profile.

One crisp action taken following agency auditing after Snowden’s exposure: 100,000 fewer people have security clearances than did a year ago, Evanina said. “That’s a lot.”

This looks like the proper response to someone like Snowden. Handing out too many security clearances undermines security. But it's more than that: it's a consolidation of power. By stripping 100,000 people of their clearances, the government eliminates 100,000 potential whistleblowers. With fewer eyes watching surveillance programs, odds of abuse multiply. Someone has to watch the watchers and sometimes that someone is nothing more than a government contractor.

CNN Anchor Suggests Police Use Water Cannons On Ferguson Protesters

In discussing seemingly less-violent options for crowd control, Rosemary Church wonders why the largely white authorities in Ferguson haven't considered using water cannons on the the largely black crowds. Once her co-anchor Errol Barnett processed what she just said, he looks at her like she's gone insane.

Webmaster's Commentary:

All I can think of is the song line, "Don't know much about history..."

And it is very obvious that Ms. Church is blissfully unaware of the the civil rights movement and struggle in this country in the 60s, when peaceful African-Americans protestors got routinely hit with water cannon attacks so hard, they literally fell to the ground.

As reported at wikipedia.com:

As the jails and holding areas filled with arrested students, the Birmingham Police Department, led by Eugene "Bull" Connor, used high-pressure water jets and police attack dogs on the children and bystanders.

But when you look at this corporate presstitute, whose job it is not to report the news, or do any due-dilligence fact-checking, but to skew the news in any direction the Federal government wants it to be skewed, what she said was both completely logical, and throughly, outrageously stupid and insensitive at the same time.

The Corporatocracy has spoken: either stop protesting, or such protest will be brutally repressed.

But I think the real reason Furgeson has been so over-run with reporters, etc., after this horrifically tragic incident of the shooting of Michael Brown, is to look at creating a national wave of protest which would give Obama the excuse for suspending the Constitution and Bill of Rights nationally, and invoking martial law. Or at the very least, creating a racial issue for the Democrats to ride into the November elections.

Who know, perhaps, even postponing the mid-terms in November indefinitely?!?

As an observer of the geopolitical scene for some time now, I do not have the luxury...of believing in "coincidences".

City of Des Moines Begins Homeless Camp Evictions

The City of Des Moines said it gave about 50 homeless people living in camps along the river fair warning. On Monday, city crews went from site to site making sure the campers had packed up and moved.

“Today they’re going to come down and take everybody’s stuff and throw it in the dump,” said Don Welch.

Welch was kicked out of a camp site under the George Washington Carver Bridge.

The city brought in a garbage truck and end loader to remove the trash and belongings left behind. Crews are targeting about a dozen remote campsites along the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers. Officials said most of the campers had already left on their own. Police were on hand to deal with any problems with the few who remained.

“If you don’t leave, they’re going to put you in jail,” warned Welch.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Phil Delafield, I call grade-A, bovine excrement on that last statement of yours.

and what about Don Welch's warning that if these people don't move, they will be jailed?!?

If this is not the criminalization of homelessness, I don't know what the hell is.

That these people only have the choice between moving out of sight, or jail, says a lot about the current moral, and fiscal, state of Des Moines; and I can tell you, neither perspective is very pretty right now.

Congress Members Who Approve Militarization of U.S. Police Receive 73% More Money from Defense Industry

Congress Is For Sale to the Highest Bidder

Americans of all stripes oppose the militarization of U.S. police forces.

For example:

A December 2013 Reason-Rupe poll found that 58% of Americans thought that police militarization has gone too far

A new Pew research poll shows that a plurality of people think that the police have gone too far in Ferguson, Missouri

So why does Congress continue to approve militarization? For the same reason that Congress members vote for NSA spying on Americans and go easy on Wall Street criminals: money.

Maplight reports that congress critters opposing Congressman Grayson’s bill to demilitarize police receive 73% more money than those voting for it:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US Federal Government, through its collective actions, both domestically and internationally, has lost all credibility and all morality.

Its policies have left this country morally and fiscally bankrupt, and warrants absolutely no faith whatsoever from the American people.

We the people, have become expendable and useless to the American political process, because by the time candidates are vetted at the state and national level, the corporations funding their campaigns have told them, very clearly, what the quid pro quo is for their funding.

Does THIS Explain the “Snipers” Shadowing the Occupy Protests?

Was the Government Prepared to Deploy Snipers If the Occupy Protests Gained Momentum?

TruthDig reported last year:

“Did the FBI ignore, or even abet, a plot to assassinate Occupy Houston leaders?” asks investigative reporter Dave Lindorff at WhoWhatWhy. “What did the Feds know? Whom did they warn? And what did the Houston Police know?”

A Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Washington, D.C.-based Partnership for Civil Justice Fund yielded an FBI document containing knowledge of a plot by an unnamed group or individual to kill “leaders” of the Houston chapter of the nonviolent Occupy Wall Street movement.

Here’s what the document said, according to WhoWhatWhy:

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, the policy of extrajudicial assassinations has been very much alive and well in this country for quite some time.

Is Portugal Next in Line for Wealth Confiscation?

The pattern should be seared in your memory by now. If you fail to recognize it, you could be struck with a huge financial blow.

It’s a pattern that has played out over and over throughout history: a government gets into financial trouble, then denies there’s a problem, which is followed by a surprise wealth grab.

That’s exactly what happened when bank deposits in Spain and Cyprus were raided. We’ve also seen retirement savings confiscated in some form in Poland, Portugal, and Hungary. Capital controls have been imposed in Cyprus and Iceland.

Of course these aren’t the only examples of blatant government thievery. These examples are just within Europe and just within recent years. They can and will happen anywhere.

Why cops have a bad reputation

Even though it might sound harsh and impolitic, here is the bottom line: if you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you. Don’t argue with me, don’t call me names, don’t tell me that I can’t stop you, don’t say I’m a racist pig, don’t threaten that you’ll sue me and take away my badge. Don’t scream at me that you pay my salary, and don’t even think of aggressively walking towards me. Most field stops are complete in minutes. How difficult is it to cooperate for that long?

Webmaster's Commentary:

Civil Rights are a matter of principle, and I would like to remind this officer that the United States Supreme Court ruled in John Bad Elk vs United States that when the police are acting outside the law the citizen has a legal right to resist, up to and including the use of lethal force.

The US War Culture Has Come Home to Roost

Police violence in the United States should not surprise anyone. In Ferguson, Missouri, we have witnessed the use against US citizens of Iraq-tested war technologies. On August 17, 2014, a police force using armored vehicles and military tactics fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters at peaceful protesters who had been demanding justice against Darren Wilson, a killer cop who took the life of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager. According to an autopsy, Michael Brown was shot six times, including twice in the head; one of the bullets that penetrated his head came from above him, which could indicate an “execution style” for the killing attributed to Wilson. A return to violent tactics rather than the community policing promised by the authorities to the people of Ferguson, and a decision by Governor Jay Nixon to call up the National Guard were very much part of an escalation.

Sonic Weapon Used to Push Back Reporters, Protestors

Webmaster's Commentary:

The model for a civil police force is that the guilty are caught and punished while the innocent are left unmolested. Will the recent rioting in Ferguson, Missouri, be a tipping point in the struggle against racial injustice, or will it be a minor footnote in some future grad student’s thesis on Civil Unrest in the Early Twenty-First Century?

Webmaster's Commentary:

The new Army manual, known as ATP 3-39.33, provides discussion and techniques about civil disturbances and crowd control operations that occur in the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS).

This document, just published this past Friday, August 15, 2014, promises to change the way the “authorities” deal with protesters, even peaceful ones. Gaza, Ukraine: The War Drums are Sounding the Alarm

As a writer of articles reporting news events of the world, I often seek to expose the concealed truth beneath the layers of a monolithic state sponsored propaganda machine called mainstream media that simply spreads the lies our leaders tell. And as perilously out of control the earth appears to be spinning this year, no events or developments cut to the core of what it means to be human than responding to what has been taking place this summer in Gaza.

2014 may go down in history as the year that the West initiated the Second Cold War on its way to initiating the Third World War. Spearheaded by arrogant American Empire power lusting desperately for global hegemonic control, this year the US rush to war is backed by its usual suspects, Europe-NATO-British Commonwealth, and its usual Middle East partners-in-crime Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What we have in Gaza, and Eastern Ukraine, are war crimes against helpless citizens, women and children, who are killed by both the IDF and Poroschenko's troops with impunity.

But the war against the world's citizens doesn't end there.

We are witnessing some shocking repression right here in the United States, as the police become more militarized, courtesy of their Israeli trainers, and feel that throwing tear gas cannisters at peaceful protestors; spraying them with pepper spray; and shooting them with rubber bullets, are all standard practices against peaceful protest.

There is a law in physics that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction; so too with poliical and physical repression.

Ask the people whooverthrew the reign of Batista in Cuba; the people overthrew the Shah of Iran; and the Romanian people overthrew Ceausescu.

And please remember: all wars are banker's wars, because banks profit from all sides, at usurious interest rates, and countries may need decades to pay back all the capital, plus the interest on the loans they take in order to wage wars.

But the biggest war crime of them all is starting a war that has no basis whatsoever in terms of national defense, which is what the US government is getting ready to do.

It is about saving the currency, when ultimately all the blood and money spent is to fatten the coffers of private corporations. It is not about freedom; it is not about protecting our rights; war is a method to insure the supremacy of the US dollar in international trade, period, end of discussion.

The Real Issue Behind the Ferguson, Missouri Police Response: Protest Is Treated As Terrorism In America Today

Washington Post writer Radley Balko is the leading expert on militarization of police in America. Balko has testified to Congress and written books on the subject.

Balko said today that the real issue behind the Ferguson, Missouri police response wasn’t the militarized police response – or the minor incidences of looting, rock-throwing and possibly Molotov cocktails by a handful of protesters – but a crackdown by government on all protest:

What we’re seeing in Ferguson, this is not a local issue, really. I mean, this is something that’s been driven by national policies, by policies that Congress has approved of and has oversight of, and could end tomorrow, if they wanted to.

7 Pages to Drone Kill an American Citizen

That’s all that current 1st Circuit Court Judge and then acting OLC head David Barron needed — in February 2010 — to dispense with niceties like the Constitution and Rule of Law before he okayed the drone killing of Anwar al-Awlaki.

Lucky for Barron — and President Obama — International Law scholar Kevin Jon Heller, never having seen that 7 page memo, raised some things Barron hadn’t considered. Which led Barron to write a still totally laughable but nevertheless less ridiculous 41-page memo 5 months later, which Barron’s friends insist is not-so-bad if you want to rationalize drone killing an American with no due process.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Due process lies at the heart and soul of the American judicial process.

But if Obama can rationalize this extrajudicial assassination, what is to keep Obama from performing extrajudicial assassinations against Americans right here at home?

And terrifyingly, the short answer is, not much.

I am a Christian pacifist who never advocates violence, but am reasonably adept at throwing a great deal of logic at various administrations with which I have been morally at odds (and that includes MOST of them, recently).

In a country where the military/industrial complex and security/industrial complex constantly screams for war as the only solution to America's problems, will I be branded as someone who speaks a litany of "inconvenient truths" to the point where, under the language of the NDAA, I can be involuntarily confined INDEFINITELY, with no due process?!?

Unfortunately, right now in this country, the short answer to this is, absolutely.

People with skills and kids, please get the hell out of this country before it is absolutely too late, and no one is allowed to leave, and the silicon curtain falls.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS! THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE

"If the Nation can issue a dollar bond it can issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good also. The difference between the bond and the bill is that the bond lets the money broker collect twice the amount of the bond and an additional 20%. Whereas the currency, the honest sort provided by the Constitution pays nobody but those who contribute in some useful way. It is absurd to say our Country can issue bonds and cannot issue currency. New Video of SWAT Team Attack on Al-Jazeera in Ferguson You Haven’t Seen

Infowars reporter Jakari Jackson was standing behind Al-Jazeera America and recorded this footage of the SWAT team purposely shooting at an obvious news crew who announced their presence.

“This is press over here! Why are you shooting at us with bullets?” One of Al-Jazeera’s reporters yelled to the SWAT team. “This is media over here trying to cover the story!”

The SWAT team responded by shooting tear gas at the reporters, who were by themselves blocks away from the nearest protestor.

After previous footage of the attack went viral across the globe, the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department responded by stating that “SWAT team officers were assisting the media in moving their camera equipment and media personnel to a safer area with their consent so that they could continue to cover the event.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do so LOVE how American cops, all over this nation, are interpreting the phrase "to protect and serve" in this country.

At the moment, in any state in this country, police are behaving in terrorizing ways against the people they are allegedly there to help.

At this point, never, EVER call the police if you see something suspicious; you are much more likely to get your own head blown off in such a circumstance, even if you have absolutely nothing to do with what is happening.

Take a fire arms safety course, get a gun, if you can, and be able to protect yourself, calmly and cautiously, should something happen from which you need to protect you and yours.

But what I am seeing in this case, outside of the police attempting to collectively lie their heads off, is a very clear pattern of trying to flame up controversy, and riots, across the country.

So to all our brothers and sisters of all backgrounds and creeds, please understand something: this Administration would love NOTHING less than to suspend the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and invoke martial law on this country. And perhaps, even suspend this year's Congressional election.

So, peaceful protests? Absolutely.

But be aware; there may well be agents-provocateurs among you, inserted by the government in order to inflame crowds to get them to do really dumb things.

The smelly person advocating the use of Molotov cocktails against any law enforcement agency is most likely an undercover CIA/FBI/DHS plant, tasked with making you look really bad and evil.

Order Out Of Chaos: The Doctrine That Runs The World

From the days of Spartacus-Weishaupt to those of Karl Marx, and down to Trotsky (Russia), Bela Kun (Hungary), Rosa Luxembourg (Germany), and Emma Goldman (United States), this world-wide conspiracy for the overthrow of civilization and for the reconstitution of society on the basis of arrested development, of envious malevolence, and impossible equality, has been steadily growing. It played, as a modern writer, Mrs. Webster, has so ably shown, a definitely recognizable part in the tragedy of the French Revolution. It has been the mainspring of every subversive movement during the Nineteenth Century; and now at last this band of extraordinary personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America have gripped the Russian people by the hair of their heads and have become practically the undisputed masters of that enormous empire. - Winston Churchill, February 1920, in an article that appeared in the Illustrated Sunday Herald

Useful Idiots and the Something For Nothing Society - Part III of IV

The greatest man made societal and economic collapse in history is unfolding before our eyes. This Journey to the collapse of the developed world's civilization and empire began over 100 years ago during the Presidency of Woodrow Wilson with his subversion/betrayal of the constitution of the United States and creation of a privately owned banking and currency monopoly called the Federal Reserve and the creation of the income tax to fund the beginning of the Confiscationism of the progressive socialism we see today. In exchange for a monopoly on money to multi century banking cartels which allowed the country to be run for the benefit of the banking systems. In exchange for unlimited funding for government. Private property rights began its road to demise at that time.

DOCUMENT: Homeland Security Predicts Rise of 'Anti-Government' Violence

A leaked document from the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis predicts increased “anti-government violence over the next year.” The document says the inspiration for violence is Cliven Bundy’s Bunkerville standoff with the Bureau of Land Management from earlier in the year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, the inspiration for the violence is a government that has delegitimized itself by failing to keep to the rules in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and sees as its divine right the authority to loot the people for the banks, trick us into wars of conquest, and spy on our every move.

One Nation Under SWAT

Think of it as a different kind of blowback. Even when you fight wars in countries thousands of miles distant, they still have an eerie way of making the long trip home.

Take the latest news from Bergen County, New Jersey, one of the richest counties in the country. Its sheriff’s department is getting two mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, or MRAPs – 15 tons of protective equipment – for a song from the Pentagon. And there’s nothing special in that. The Pentagon has handed out 600 of them for nothing since 2013, with plenty more to come. They’re surplus equipment, mostly from our recent wars, and perhaps they will indeed prove handy for a sheriff fretting about insurgent IEDs (roadside bombs) in New Jersey or elsewhere in the country. When it comes to the up-armoring and militarization of America’s police forces, this is completely run-of-the-mill stuff.

Tax dodgers' land for sale; may be booby-trapped

The New Hampshire compound of a tax-evading couple convicted of amassing an arsenal of weapons and holding federal law enforcement officials at bay for months is being sold at auction — even as prospective buyers have been kept off the land because it could still be booby-trapped.

The auction of Ed and Elaine Brown's fortress-like home on 100 acres in Plainfield is scheduled for Friday afternoon at U.S. District Court in Concord. The minimum required bid is $250,000. Elaine Brown's dental office in Lebanon also is being auctioned.

Prospective bidders have not been allowed to tour the property, and last year, the U.S. Marshals Service cited the possibility of land mines and other explosives buried on the property as a complication.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh yeah, I can see people lining up to bid a quarter million for that!

Pentagon Hands Lucrative Guantanamo Bay Deal to Notorious Private Security Company g4s

A British private security company that has been accused of numerous human rights violations has been handed a $118 million deal by the Pentagon to provide "operating support services" for the Guantanamo Bay naval base that houses the U.S. military's notorious prison.

The Department of Defense announced earlier this week that G4S has been granted the contract to provide services that include "family housing, facility management, facility investment, other (swimming pools), custodial, pest control, integrated solid waste management, grounds maintenance and landscaping, base support vehicles and equipment, electrical, wastewater, water, and limited facilities support functions." The statement did not mention any duties relating to the Guantanamo Bay prison, which currently holds 149 men without charge or trial.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Hey, we HAD to contract these services out to a firm which embraces human rights violations; otherwise, the contract just wouldn't have worked out!! (Official DOD Souse)

But seriously, this company's penchant for violently handling prisoners is well-documented. As reported at huffingtonpost.com on 29 April, 2014:

More than 100 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons launched a mass hunger strike last week against Israel's policy of administrative detention, a draconian practice whereby Palestinians are detained on "secret evidence" and without being charged. According to Randa Kamel, an advocacy officer for Addameer, a group that monitors Israel's arrests and imprisonment of Palestinians, many of these hunger strikers are being held in prisons using surveillance and security equipment provided by the controversial British security firm G4S. Earlier this month, Palestinian human rights organizations launched a campaign calling on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to divest from G4S, which they say is "at the heart of [Israel's prison] system, installing and running security systems at Israeli jails." Across the Israeli-occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, G4S also provides security services at many Israeli military checkpoints that control Palestinian movement. The petition is being spearheaded by Addameer and the Palestine Boycott Divestment and Sanctions National Committee. It was also endorsed by an additional 121 Palestinian and international organizations. The Gates Foundation is a global development organization that works in the areas of global health, global development, and betterment in the United States. Despite its public record as a force for global betterment, the Gates Foundation solicited widespread criticism when it purchased $172 million in G4S shares.

Ferguson police: Michael Brown was robbery suspect

Michael Brown, the black teenager shot by police on Saturday in Ferguson, Missouri, was a suspect in a robbery just moments earlier, police have said.

Police say Mr Brown, 18, was one of two men suspected of robbing a nearby convenience store.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Assuming these photos are not after-the-fact stagings, at best they show an altercation between two people, not a robbery.

Missouri is a "shall issue" state for carry permits. Why didn't the store owner have a weapon and use it to defend his store with, if he was actually being robbed?

According to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's office, Michael Brown had no criminal record at all, and he was a week away from starting college. That does not fit the profile of a convenience store holdup man.

But ...

Even if Michael Brown was a suspect, THE POLICE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EMPTY THEIR GUNS INTO SOMEONE JUST FOR BEING A SUSPECT!

Why didn't the officer use his taser?

More to the point, why didn't the officer call in the shooting on his police car radio? The recording of the St. Louis dispatch radio calls confirm that they only learned of the shooting from the news media. St. Louis dispatch called the Ferguson police station and they had not heard anything at all. The fact that the officer failed to immediately report the shooting is not consistent with the officer thinking his shooting of a suspect was justified.

The corporate media is still trying to spin this as a white versus black issue, to divide us against each other. But this is an issue of We The People, OF ALL COLORS, fed up with a domestic police force armed with military weapons and trained by the Israelis to treat Americans the way the IDF treats the Palestinians.

Since 9-11, the domestic police in the US have murdered 8 times as many innocent Americans as terrorists have, and we are supposed to quietly accept that?

I don't think so!

Michael Brown had no criminal background

An 18-year-old shot and killed near a Ferguson apartment complex Saturday afternoon had no criminal record, according to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

According to police, Brown pushed an officer into his car. Then, both struggled and at some point, Brown reached for the officer's weapon before a shot inside of the car followed by a number of other shots. Brown was not armed.

Massacre Announced: Brazil PM to evict 20K people in $6.5B land grab

20,000 people in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, are to be attacked by 10,000 military police and evicted from their homes in a land grab mega-operation intent on creating a 6.5 billion dollar profit. 8,000 families will have their houses be demolished, and be thrown into total poverty and homelessness. The military police’s operation is illegal, there is not even a court decision yet for the mass eviction, and the state has not and does not intend to provide alternate housing. Police are simply interested in clearing the land from the 20,000 inhabitants so that real estate can turn it into profit.

Responding to news that the Justice Department has dispatched its Community Relations Service to the scene of racially charged unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, the head of the Washington watchdog group Judicial Watch says it’s time for a civil rights investigation of Attorney General Eric Holder’s agency.

“Eric Holder’s Justice Department is unfortunately not to be trusted on racial matters,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton in an interview with WND.

Under Holder’s leadership, he said, the department “has a record of racially inflammatory rhetoric that is extreme in ideology and cynical in its politics.”

“The idea that this Justice Department could be trusted to mediate is highly suspect,” he said.

13 Photos From The Protests In Ferguson, Missouri, You Won't Believe Happened In The United States Of America

Protests entered their fifth and most tense day in Ferguson, Missouri, in response to a police officer on Saturday fatally shooting 18-year-old Michael Brown, an unarmed black man, and it's hard to look at the photos and believe the scene is in the United States.

From heavily armed SWAT officers aiming rifles at unarmed civilians to the use of intimidating armored vehicles — it looks less small-town U.S.A. and more like Egypt's Tahrir Square during the Arab Spring. The behavior of police is similar — albeit less deadly — in the use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and a deafening loudspeaker meant to break up the demonstration officers had declared "no longer peaceful."

Analyst: All NSA intel goes directly to Israel

The US National Security Agency (NSA) directly sends all of the intelligence that it gathers to the Israeli regime, a political analyst tells Press TV.

“We now know that all of the NSA’s spying is going directly to Israel,” James H. Fetzer, a professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, said in a Saturday interview.

“I believe that all of our allies should discontinue sharing their intelligence with the Unites States unless they are willing that it should go directly to Tel Aviv,” the analyst said.

“It would be advisable for the Unites Nations to undertake an exploration of this because it appears to be a violation of national sovereignty for one nation to be spying on the communications of its highest executive officials,” Fetzer added.

State Senator To Ferguson Police: 'Will I Get Tear-Gassed Again?'

Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal confronted Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson during a press conference Wednesday, asking why she was tear-gassed during a nonviolent protest.

Chappelle-Nadal, a Democrat, said she had been tear-gassed while peacefully protesting the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed African-American teenager shot to death by a police officer on Saturday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The corporate media is trying to frame this confrontation as a racial issue, and even try to use it to call for more gun control. But it isn't. This is about people OF ALL COLORS tired of oppressive police brutality at the hands of a government that sees such brutality and control as preferential to working with the people as the Constitution demands.

The police drew first blood. They have been drawing first blood for years now with an epidemic of wrongful shootings of innocent people, SWAT team invasions aty wrong addresses, brutalization of women and children, shooting of pets, and so forth. The claim that this is all about race is a false-dichotomy to conceal the fact that the real issue is We The People OF ALL COLORS demanding our Constitutional rights back, first and foremost that we not be gunned down in cold blood by some uniformed thug driven psychotic by anti-depressants and then protected from prosecution by the system!

Activists Protest Bombing of Gaza and innocent passerby harassed by pro Israel opposition and arrested

Demonstrators protest the violence in Gaza during a pro Palestine rally in Seattle. As protestors lined the sidewalks in Westlake Park, a pro Israel supporter walks by, harassing the demonstrators, yelling in peoples faces, screaming obscenities, and racial slurs. After crossing the street and harassing another group of demonstrators, the man tore off his shirt and began walking towards the group with fists clenched. As someone who wasn’t a part of the demonstration walked by, the pro Israel supporter turned and said something as he passed. The man then turned around as if he was going to swing, but thought better of it. The pro Israel supporter squared off with him, but a Westlake security guard who was watching the interaction pulled out his pepper spray, and sprayed the innocent passerby, grabbed him by the arm and tried to wrestle him to the ground. He was eventually led off into Westlake Center as SPD arrived on the scene.

Pentagon fueled Ferguson confrontation

The Pentagon might not have boots on the ground in Ferguson, Mo., where 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot by police on Saturday, but it does have wheels on the street.

Michelle McCaskill, media relations chief at the Defense Logistics Agency, confirms that the Ferguson Police Department is part of a federal program called 1033 that distributes hundreds of millions of dollars of surplus military equipment to civilian police forces across the United States. The materials range from small items, such as pistols and automatic rifles, to heavy armored vehicles such as the MRAPs used in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"In 2013 alone, $449,309,003.71 worth of property was transferred to law enforcement," the agency's website states.

Why Do They Hate Us?

For ages have been trying to destroy us, but we stood firm and we fought back, proudly. They invaded, ruined, burned our lands, and they murdered the people of Russia, of China and of the entire part of the world, now called Latin America. They, of course, also murdered and destroyed tens or hundreds of millions of people in the Middle East, in Africa, Asia and Oceania.

When I say ‘they’, I mean the West, and once again I refuse to make any distinction between the old colonial devils, Europe, and the new ones that come from the same roots, the same ‘culture’, but kill under the shade of their relatively new flags.

They hate us because we bled and cried over our dead, but we never gave up the struggle.

A rally has been organized for Sunday in front of the Los Angeles police headquarters to protest the shooting of an unarmed African-American man, whose family said that he was lying face down in the street when an officer pulled the trigger.

A statement released by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on Tuesday said that the incident occurred while an officer was conducting an “investigative stop” on Monday evening at around 8:12 p.m. The statement said that a “struggle ensued,” and the officer opened fire.

The gunshot victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Lt. Ellis Imaizumi had initially said on Monday that the officer sustained minor injuries, but the official statement indicated that no officers were hurt during the shooting.

The Ghost of Mike Brown

Brown’s prosecutors in the court of public opinion will nonetheless demand he defend himself against these charges because he was a black teenager. His killer will remain presumed innocent. But for Mike Brown, there was a collective presumption of his guilt by the Ferguson police ... and that of the Ferguson citizens who gathered to air their grievances about the shooting long before any rioting started – and the timing of this is important. As a St Louis community activist who talked to me on Monday put it, he knew something was amiss when the police stationed K-9 units at the protest at 9am protest on Sunday.

The De-industrialization of America

Paul Craig Roberts and US Senator Charles Schumer published a jointly written article on the op-ed page of the New York Times titled “Second Thoughts on Free Trade.” The article pointed out that the US had entered a new economic era in which American workers face “direct global competition at almost every job level–from the machinist to the software engineer to the Wall Street analyst. Any worker whose job does not require daily face-to-face interaction is now in jeopardy of being replaced by a lower-paid equally skilled worker thousands of miles away. American jobs are being lost not to competition from foreign companies, but to multinational corporations that are cutting costs by shifting operations to low-wage countries.” Roberts and Schumer challenged the correctness of economists’ views that jobs off-shoring was merely the operation of mutually beneficial free trade, about which no concerns were warranted.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The continuous offshoring/outsourcing of American jobs is no accident.

And that is because the government no longer represents We the People, but only the corporations which fund their election cycles.

Americans have become irrelevant and and expendable to the ruling class, save for paying taxes, and obeying whatever dictates they decree with sheep-like, slavish precision.

No matter who we vote for or how frequently we participate in the process, the fix is already in; corporations get the governments they want which will be exclusively supportive of their interests, no matter if those interests are in direct contradiction to the needs and desires of working Americans.

The New McCarthyism

Once again vast sums of money are being spent on a war, this time a hot one and getting hotter. Once again parties with a vested interest are out to smear and destroy anyone who dares ask if the wars are worth the sacrifice of our young people (not to mention the money), indeed if there really is any point at all to the wars aside from justifying the flow of money to defense contractors.

But the Soviet Union has gone out of business. The word "communist" doesn't carry the same psychological impact it used to, so the war hawk smear squad has come up with a new one, "Anti-Semite." Like "Communist", "Anti-Semite" is used to ruin the lives of people who have not actually done anything wrong other than to challenge the war profiteers. It is a new word for an old trick, and I am amazed that they are still playing the same old game, but I guess the FBI can always find some dumb-assed idiot to fall for it and do their dirty work of wrecking a career for them.

Is the firing of Steven Salaita the beginning of a new Blacklist?

Here’s why the University and mainstream media don’t want to say he was fired.

Because firing a tenured professor purely for his political opinions, especially one with multiple academic publications to his record, means the University has violated the following:

1) His First amendment rights.

2) His academic freedom.

3) His rights as an employee at a public university, as well his rights to due process.

Here’s the single reason why we claim he was fired: more than one month ago, Steven Salaita signed a contract to work at the University of Illinois.

Approximately three weeks later, he was told he no longer had that job.

That’s a firing, not a rescission.

This incident signals the following:

—For those of us who have tenure in the academy, it tells us that our private expressions on social media may now outweigh our academic work.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is no new blacklist. It's the same one that has been going on all along, the same one fully on display in the case of Penelope Cruz, and the same one whose wrath I felt 20 years ago.

Fired professor voiced "legitimate outrage" over Gaza attack, say University of Illinois colleagues

Professors from within the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have called on the college to rescind its firing of Steven Salaita over the academic’s Palestine solidarity activities.

As reported previously on The Electronic Intifada, revelations from various sources have strongly suggested that the University of Illinois was lobbied by Zionist groups opposed to Salaita’s hiring as an associate professor in the Department of American Indian Studies. The sacking was condemned in an open letter by senior professors from around North America, and by the American Association of University Professors.

Now, in a statement sent to members and posted as a PDF file on its website, the executive committee for the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (CSAMES) at the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign has spelled out its opposition to its own management’s actions.

Hidden in Plain View

In 1999, the quarter’s design did change (image #3). The word “LIBERTY” was removed from above the head of Washington and in its place were the words, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” It might have been argued at the time that those words needed to be on the quarter to remind holders of the coin what nation had issued it. However, those words had always appeared on the reverse of the Washington quarter, and I recently saw a 1999 quarter that had those words on both sides—a very odd redundancy for a coin, which, by its very size, has little space to spare, even for essential information.

The word “LIBERTY” was still in evidence on the new coin, but it had been moved lower down, beneath Washington’s chin, and was now much smaller.

It would seem one reason for the change in design had been to diminish the importance of Liberty as an American concept.

'Brilliant and ethical' English professor 'loses his job' at top U.S. university after posting a series of anti-Israel Tweets

A ‘brilliant and ethical’ professor has lost his job at a major U.S. university over his anti-Israel remarks on Twitter, it has been claimed.

Steven Salaita had been offered a role at the University of Illinois on the American Indian Studies course – and the appointment was expected to be confirmed.

But according to the Huffington Post, there have been reports that his outspoken criticism of Israel’s part in the Gaza conflict may have cost him his job.

In one Tweet he told his followers: 'It's simple: either condemn #Israel's actions or embrace your identity as someone who's okay with the wholesale slaughter of children.’

Another read: 'Only #Israel can murder around 300 children in the span of a few weeks and insist that it is the victim.'

On the same day he wrote: 'It's quite simple, really: don't support any ideology whose practice results in dead children.'

According to the Huffington Post, the university has yet to comment on why the appointment was blocked.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The story is that a local Jewish group contacted the University and threatened "action" if Salaita was hired. Now they are saying that even though they did send such a message, they are not responsible for the university's decision.

What is important to keep in mind is that Salaita did not make these remarks in the classroom, but in his private life. This underhanded campaign to ruin his career is a violation of his right to Freedom of Speech under the First Amendment and everyone who took part in this fiasco is an enemy of America and what it stands for.

The Occupation is Forever

The ‘two-state solution’ is perennially misunderstood. The solution envisaged has nothing to do with a possible spatio-political division of Israel-Palestine and the ending of the Occupation. Rather it is a public relations device to quell the qualms of those bleeding hearts who find the current impasse unsavory, to deny the necessity (indeed the inevitability) of a ‘one-state solution’, and ultimately to ensure the continuation of the Occupation.

Ditto the ‘peace process’.

National Security Study 200

SUBJECT: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests

The President has directed a study of the impact of world population growth on U.S. security and overseas interests. The study should look forward at least until the year 2000, and use several alternative reasonable projections of population growth.

In terms of each projection, the study should assess:

- the corresponding pace of development, especially in poorer-countries;
- the demand for US exports, especially of food, and the trade-problems the US may face arising from competition for resources; and
- the likelihood that population growth or imbalances will produce disruptive foreign policies and international instability.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As Ebola races across Africa, it appears that the United States Government's attitude towards the crisis is rather lackadaisical at this point. Certainly it is being treated as a lower priority than sheltering the illegal immigrants flooding across the Mexican border (who given enough time, will bring Ebola with them), providing weapons and money to Israel, and trying to provoke a potentially nuclear war with Russia.

The US Government's inaction could be attributed to the fact that the politicians can;t really do anything about it, cannot get votes out of it, and so, like with Fukushima and the Gulf Oil Disaster, their plan is to ignore Ebola and pretend it just is not important.

But there may be another agenda at work; one that dates back to the Nixon Administration. In 1974, Henry Kissenger prepared a study for the President which suggested US Government policy should work for depopulation of the third world, in particular the resource-rich regions, to make those resources available to the US and to prevent the rise of a sufficiently large population able to resist US incursions.

Nixon adopted this policy, but his successor, Gerald Ford, alarmed by scandals involving covert sterilization under the guise of global vaccination programs, ended the policy. Whether it has been revived in secret is not known.

But there is no question that an Ebola epidemic, raging through the very nations the US AFRICOM is seeking ton control, plays right into that agenda of depopulation to reduce nations' ability to resist US control, and that may be the reason the US Government has done little more about the emerging Ebola crisis than flap their gums for the corporate media cameras!

Alfred Webre: Expose massive Ebola/Martial Law false flag and prevent mega depopulation

"Some dots for you to connect:
"*George Soros’s foundation funds the Kenema bioweapons lab at the focus of the Ebola outbreak, and which is about to be closed, apparently amid an investigation.
"* WHO media coordinator Glenn Thomas was highly likely involved in fielding media and other inquries about how WHO view and what it planned to do about the controversial Kenema lab.
"Was Glenn Thomas aware of hard evidence showing that the lab was faking positive diagnoses for Ebola — Tulane University? — in order to justify forcing people to undergo treatment which would give them Ebola? Did he refuse to go along with the cover up?"
" *The mainstream media is silent about the Kenema bioweapons lab closure as well as about the order to Tulane University to stop Ebola testing. So, what other channels are there left for this information to enter the public domain or be spread through social media networks if WHO does not release the information or take action?

FLASHBACK - The Tytler Cycle Revisited

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage

'Outrage' Follows USDA's Advancement of New Genetically Engineered Crops

Environmental groups warn that advancing Dow's new genetically engineered crops means a continuation of a toxic chemical treadmill that threatens human health. (Photo: Holley St. Germain)

Watchdog groups are denouncing the U.S. Department of Agriculture's recommendation on Wednesday to approve new varieties of genetically engineered corn and soybeans as a path towards more toxic pesticides that threaten the environment and public health.

"We are outraged," stated Marcia Ishii-Eiteman, PhD, senior scientist with Pesticide Action Network, adding that the "USDA has turned its back on America’s farmers and rural communities."

The new crops are Dow AgroScience’s 2,4-D- and glyphosate-tolerant corn and soybeans. They are made to be used with Dow's Enlist Duo herbicide, which contains 2,4-D and glyphosate and is also under review by the USDA.

Schools use new software to monitor students’ social media posts

Officials in western Maryland’s Washington County schools will be tracking students’ social media activity while at school using new software that scans for keywords like “kill” or “bomb.”

The district is using software called Social Sentinel that employs “geofencing” protocol to determine when students are on school grounds and scans their Twitter, Facebook and other social media posts for evidence of violent threats, harassment, drug or alcohol use, or similarly dangerous language, WJLA television station reports.

District officials are assuring the public that student privacy won’t be violated because the “geofencing” protocol limits tracking to when students are at school, a public place.

Official Public Discourse in America: Censorship and Orwellian “Double Think”, “Publicity of the Unspeakable”

An infirmity once characterizing the past century’s most severe totalitarian regimes has now taken root in Western public discourse and practice, a process akin to Orwellian “double think” acting as a form of de facto censorship preempting consideration of major issues and events. This mindset is obliquely shared by a majority of professional journalists, academics, and public office holders—in short, those who represent and lead public opinion. Their collective publicity of the unsaid preserves and perpetuates existing belief systems and power relations. To be sure, there are self-evident injunctions for those straying from such unspoken protocols, including expulsion from this professional class.

BBC agrees to air Gaza charity appeal after getting Israel’s permission

The BBC announced Thursday morning that it would broadcast an emergency charity appeal for Gaza Friday — but only after it was reassured that it won’t face censure from the Israeli government for doing so.

This is in stark contrast to 2009, when another Israeli massacre in Gaza was drawing to an end. Then, the BBC, along with Sky, refused to air an appeal from the same body – the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) — even though other major television networks, including Channel 4, did so.

The BBC’s then director general, Mark Thompson, said at the time that broadcasting the DEC appeal would breach impartiality guidelines, as funds were being raised for Gaza but not Israel.

Dear David, Sorry, but Your Money Is Trapped in the USA

Recently, my colleague David Galland had a revealing experience. David attempted to invest abroad but was stymied by the US government’s de facto capital controls.

While there are no official capital controls, the uniquely burdensome regulations associated with doing business with a “US Person” creates a similar effect—that being that the vast majority of foreign banks, brokerages, and other financial institutions shun American clients, effectively making it much more difficult to move capital outside of the US.

IM contributor Jeff Thomas eloquently points out that “If the sheep are to be sheared, they must first be penned in so that they cannot escape.” This is exactly the point of capital controls: to lock in the wealth of a country so it cannot escape the shearing that is soon to come.

HHS on the hunt for HealthCare.gov emails Issa wants

A senior health department official under Republican scrutiny for the flawed rollout of HealthCare.gov likely deleted some emails now sought by congressional investigators, msnbc has learned.

The Department of Health and Human Services planned on Thursday to alert Congress and the National Archives and Records Administration, which is charged with enforcing federal record keeping laws, about the problem, according to a copy of a letter being sent to Archives.

There is no evidence that Marilyn Tavenner, an Obama appointee who leads the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, intentionally hid information or deleted records; rather, the gaps appear to be the result of sloppy record keeping. But Republicans have attempted to turn missing emails into a political scandal before, as they did with Lois Lerner, a former IRS official at the center of a separate controversy over alleged targeting of conservative nonprofit groups.

ADL Trains Nation's Top Law Enforcement Leaders on Counterterrorism
Forty of the nation's top law enforcement leaders were trained in the twenty-second session of the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Advanced Training School (ATS) course on Extremist and Terrorist Threats, held from December 2-4, 2012 in Washington, DC. Participants in the class included executives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Service, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Coast Guard Investigative Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Central Intelligence Agency Threat Management Unit, and dozens of the nation's largest state and local agencies. The curriculum included presentations on white supremacy, anti-government extremism, homegrown Islamic extremism, the Mumbai attacks, Hezbollah, and more.

American Police Now “Israeli-DHS Trained,” Precursor To Dictatorship
Slowly, every police department in the United States, at the behest of the Department of Homeland Security, is being trained by Israeli groups. They are becoming “Israeli.”

FLASHBACK - Judea Declares War on Germany

Click for larger image

Webmaster's Commentary:

Posted at reader request: Today Israel is screaming about how "unfair" the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions movement is to "poor suffering Israel" (reg Trademark Tel Aviv). but history shows that the same people have never hesitated to use boycotts against others, as this newspaper from 1933 shows.

Following their defeat in WW1, Germany had been forced to accept a privately-owned central bank under the Treaty of Versailles. This privately-owned bank looted the German people and eventually led to the runaway inflation of the Wiemar Republic. When Hitler came to power he kicked out the private central bankers and returned control of the currency to the government. This triggered an economic boom in Germany which would later be described as the "German Miracle" and lead to TIME Magazine making Hitler their Man of the Year for the amazing economic changes he had brought to Germany.

Those changes, of course, were a direct threat to the private central banks, both because citizens in other countries wondered why they could not have the same system of government-issued currency that was working so well for Germany (especially here in the United States, which had been started a with government-issued currency), and because nations enslaved to private central banks cannot economically compete with nations not so encumbered and plundered.

So, the cartel of private central bankers organized a global boycott against the new German monetary system almost the moment it was born, to ruin Germany and drive it back into the clutches of the private central bankers. It was this economic war that set the stage for the emergence of WW2, while the financial predations of the Rothschilds bankers became the foundation of the German peoples' animosity towards Jews.

As a side note, the article gives the total Jewish population of Germany as just over half a million, quite a far cry from the claimed six million supposedly exterminated by the Nazis.

Man Framed by Detective Will Get $6.4 Million From New York City After Serving 23 Years for Murder

A man who was framed by a rogue detective and served 23 years in prison for a murder he did not commit will receive $6.4 million from the City of New York in a settlement that came before a civil rights lawsuit was even filed, lawyers involved in the case said on Thursday.

A $150 million claim filed last year by the man, David Ranta, was settled by the city comptroller’s office without ever involving the city’s legal department — which the lawyers involved in the negotiations described as a “groundbreaking” decision that acknowledged the overwhelming evidence the city faced.

The comptroller’s quick acceptance of liability in the high-profile conviction is also significant because the case is the first of what is expected to be a series of wrongful conviction claims by men who were sent to prison based on the flawed investigative work of the detective, Louis Scarcella, who has been accused of inventing confessions, coercing witnesses and recycling informers.

And as Darrel Vandeveld – former prosecutor in the Guantanamo military commissions, and current Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve – wrote:

Stars Face Hollywood Backlash in War of Words Over Israel

When the latest battle in Gaza finally is over, as someday it will be, hard feelings could linger in the corner offices of Hollywood toward the stars who have voiced anti-Israel sentiments. But will the artists who criticize Israel military strikes -- particularly married Spaniards Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, who accused the country of "genocide" in a widely circulated July 25 letter -- suffer career backlash in a town whose power brokers tend to be strong supporters of Israel?

We’re All Criminals and Outlaws in the Eyes of the American Police State

As with most things, if you want to know the real motives behind any government program, follow the money trail. When you dig down far enough, you quickly find that those who profit from Americans being arrested are none other than the police who arrest them, the courts which try them, the prisons which incarcerate them, and the corporations, which manufacture the weapons and equipment used by police, build and run the prisons, and profit from the cheap prison labor.

Talk about a financial incentive.

First, there’s the whole make-work scheme. In the absence of crime, in order to keep the police and their related agencies employed, occupied, and utilizing the many militarized “toys” passed along by the Department of Homeland Security, one must invent new crimes—overcriminalization—and new criminals to be spied on, targeted, tracked, raided, arrested, prosecuted and jailed. Enter the police state.

THE POINT OF NO RETURN

The people of the United States stand at that point right now. That the US Government is using torture on POWs (just as Hitler did) is beyond argument. One can either stand up and denounce that torture and demand the firing of all who took part in it (and the end of the war), or one is by default complicit, an accessory after the fact, seen by all to condone such barbarism.

Anyone who steps across that line is trapped. Unable to look at what they themselves have become they will refuse to look at what the government has become, indeed will create or accept any justification, no matter how thin and transparent, rather than question that government. And indeed this web site gets email from people who have already crossed that point, and are trying to explain why torture is really necessary "this time".
