HSBC attacked for political blackmail

SCANDAL-HIT HSBC was accused of pre-election blackmail yesterday after threatening to relocate its headquarters abroad if Britain considers pulling out of the European Union.

The banking giant is considering escaping regulation after being hit by levies that cost the group a combined £860million in the past two years after crackdowns of money laundering and foreign exchange rigging.

Parents anger after children as young as THREE told to sign contract promising not to use 'transphobic language' at nursery

Children as young as three are being asked to sign a contract pledging not to use transphobic language at school.

The pledge is contained in a ‘home-school agreement’ which all children must sign before they start at Turnham Primary School in September.

The infants must also promise to refrain from using homophobic and racist phrases and to be tolerant of people with different sexual orientations and lifestyles. Each child must print their name and provide a signature to confirm that they understand their ‘responsibilities’ while attending the school.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I personally do not have a problem with anyone's orientation, but this idea of a contract is rooted in the theory that the state should decide a person's personal beliefs, and THAT I have a real problem with.

For one thing, the entire liberal theory that human thought can be reshaped by reshaping the environment derives entirely from Marget Mead's "Coming of Age in Samoa", which supported the theory that human minds were born totally blank, a "Tabla Rasa" and all human emotion and behavior was shaped by the environment. Of course, anyone that knows Polynesian and Samoan culture knows Mead's book is junk. Mead did not go to Samoa to find out the reality but to confirm a pre-designated conclusion and simply found those people who would tell her what she wanted to hear (not unlike the behavior of the supporters of human-caused global warming). Although discredited, Mead's book still forms the foundation of the liberal philosophy and Mead herself continues to be lionized by liberals, much as Al Gore continues to be deified by the Carbonazis.

How I communicate humanity’s challenge to colleagues

*hyperlinks live at source*

I felt it might be helpful to share how I state humanity’s challenge to leaders working for important reforms; particularly the big picture that reformers are asking literal .01% psychopathic criminals for their help. Of course, reform will be impossible until we recognize this important fact.

Among perhaps 100 crucial areas, this particular reform topic is in economics. The e-mail I sent regarding reform responses with nations’ international debt crises (with additional hyperlinks for your education, and deletions to keep this example generic):

Friends and colleagues,
I respectfully and gently suggest that our current work with mechanics of the existing system, and mechanics of (this reform) with intent to optimize public benefits, embrace this Emperor's New Clothes perspective:

Policing the Police - Your Right to Record Law Enforcement

In light of the shortcomings of the legal system and growing police violence against people, there are many ways that communities can help each other to defend their rights to be free from unlawful searches, seizures, and cruel and inhumane treatment by law enforcement officers.

One way to assist with police accountability is to audio and/or video record police whenever you see a disconcerting police interaction. In the event a citizen complaint, public inquiry, or federal lawsuit is necessary, or if someone ends up charged with a crime, the best evidence to document police misconduct, excessive force, unconstitutional actions, or unprofessionalism is by audio and video recording the incident.

Mexicans Are Now Happier Than Americans

How can this be possible?

It might have something to do with the fact that social mobility is much lower in the U.S. than in many other developed countries, and that modern Americans have no more social mobility than in medieval England.

Or that inequality in America today is twice as bad as in ancient Rome, worse than it was in apartheid South Africa, Tsarist Russia, Gilded Age America, modern Egypt, Tunisia or Yemen, many banana republics in Latin America, and worse than experienced by slaves in 1774 colonial America. Indeed, economist and inequality expert Thomas Piketty notes that – for those who work for a living, the level of inequality in the U.S. is “probably higher than in any other society at any time in the past, anywhere in the world ….”

Or that Americans have less access to justice than Botswanans … and are more abused by police than Kazakhstanis.

It's possible innocent people were executed because the FBI messed up evidence

Analysts gave testimony in 268 cases and made "erroneous statements" in 257 of those cases, according to the review. Defendants in at least 35 of these cases got the death penalty, and 33 of those cases contained errors. Five of them, however, died of natural causes while on death row, and nine of them have already been executed.

"It’s possible that some of these people who were executed were wrongly executed," Paul Cates, communications director of the Innocence Project, told Business Insider.

The 33 inmates on death row now could have been wrongfully convicted as well, Cates noted.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS!

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The Bankers own the Earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of a pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the fortunes like mine will disappear, and they ought to disappear, for this world would be a happier and better world to live in. But if you wish to remain slaves of the Bankers and pay for the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create deposits." -- Sir Josiah Stamp, President of the Bank of England in the 1920s, the second richest man in Britain

I know many people have a great deal of difficulty comprehending just how many wars are started for no other purpose than to force private central banks onto nations, so let me share a few examples, so that you understand why the US Government is mired in so many wars against so many foreign nations. There is ample precedent for this.

VT Senate votes to end a vaccine exemption

The state Senate voted Wednesday to end the philosophical exemption for childhood vaccinations and to make the full range of shots a condition for enrolling in school.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In 1976 the US Government mandated vaccination against the swine ful, then had to call it off when the vaccine started killing fifty times as many people as the flu did. Today the push is the MMR vaccine, sold using fear tactics of the current measles outbreak. But the vast majority of the people catching measles have had the vaccine (as was the case with the last mumps outbreak) suggesting at the very least the vaccine does not work, or worse, the vaccine is causing the illness, which happens a lot more often than you might imagine.

The CDC reports that not a single American has died of measles in the last ten years, yet the Vaccine Court, the body set up to arbitrate settlements from vaccine damage, acknowledges more than 100 Americans have died from the measles vaccine.

Now, the giant pharmaceutical corporations make vast profits selling medicine to people who do not really need it (not unlike the traveling medicine show salesmen of as bygone era) and no doubt share these profits generously with politicians during campaign season.

But I hold it to be the most inalienable of human rights to decide what does or does not go into our own bodies. We are, after all, human beings and not livestock owned by the government!

Obama's Orwellian Language on Drones

Apr 24 11:16

OBAMA KILLS TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE

Obama has been quoted saying he “takes full responsibility” for the two hostages, one American and one Italian, killed recently in a drone attack. At the same time, Obama praised the United States for its transparency in such matters.

What in God’s name does he mean? How can you have responsibility with no consequences? Isn’t that a bit like patting yourself on the back for high principles, having just committed murder? And transparency? That also is a word without meaning when applied to a country which runs a string of secret wars and coups, a country which spies on virtually the entire planet, and a country whose warehouses bulge with so many classified documents it would take a thousand years to review them.

Obama’s use of words has no meaning, much like the lack of meaning inherent in the kind of world into which he is eagerly helping to pitch us.

Miami's ''HunchLab" is Latest Police Move Toward Pre-Crime Detection

Is it time to put a woman’s face on the $20 bill?

It is no coincidence that the target of this effort is Andrew Jackson. Really, the last President to fight the private central bankers centered in the City of London, UK, and win. It is also no coincidence that Jackson was the target of a unsuccessful assassination attempt in the wake of his battles with the private central banks. The two are connected.

In fact, it is my opinion, the assassinations of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and even Kennedy are linked, in part, to their attitudes towards the private central bank that really has been running the world since the Battle of Waterloo: their opinion that the money ownership of the United States should be vested in the people and the states per the US Constitution.

Police Murder by Van Ride

Philadelphians don’t have any problem figuring out what happened to Freddie Gray, the 25-year old black man who died as a result of a severed spine at the neck while being transported in a police van by Baltimore Police.

Here in Philadelphia, Police have long enjoyed giving arrested men who mouth off to them during arrests what is known fondly in the department as a “nickel ride.” That’s where they put the prisoner in the back of the van, hands bound behind their backs so they cannot hold on to anything or protect themselves, and otherwise unrestrained. Then the driver of the vehicle accelerates repeatedly, whips around corners and periodically slams on the breaks, causing the helpless captive in the back to slam against various parts of the vehicle, often with his head.

The School Of The Americas Is Still Exporting Death Squads

In 2009, just a year before Sebastián Piñera became president of Chile, Michelle Bachelet approved the training of 211 Chilean recruits at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC), formerly known as the School of the Americas (SOA).

Between 1999 and 2010, Chilean governments sent a total of 1,205 recruits to the school, with Bachelet remaining at the helm of cooperation with the U.S.-based institute that has graduated scores of alumni involved in human rights violations under Chile’s dictatorship era from 1973 to 1990.

Despite the macabre reality inflicted upon Chileans during Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship, the Concertación governments of the center-left, allegedly embarking upon a democratic future for Chile, retained ties with the school that produced torturers such as Miguel Krassnoff Martchenko, who, according to torture survivors, never concealed his identity while subjecting his victims to brutality.

Chinese school likened to 'cell block' after pupils jump to their deaths

A middle school in northern China has been likened to prison block after bars were installed on windows and balconies to deter pupils from jumping to their deaths, according to a newspaper report.

The security measures have been taken at Hengshui No. 2 Middle School in Hebei province and were prompted after two pupils killed themselves jumping, apparently due to the pressure they felt to succeed academically, the Beijing Times reported.

One died in October last year and the other last month, the report said.

The school is well known for the high percentage of pupils who are admitted to China’s top universities and has a reputation for academic excellence, according to the newspaper.

House Passes Cybersecurity Bill Despite Privacy Protests

Congress is hellbent on passing a cybersecurity bill that can stop the wave of hacker breaches hitting American corporations. And they’re not letting the protests of a few dozen privacy and civil liberties organizations get in their way. On Wednesday the House of Representatives voted 307-116 to pass the Protecting Cyber Networks Act, a bill designed to allow more fluid sharing of cybersecurity threat data between corporations and government agencies. That new system for sharing information is designed to act as a real-time immune system against hacker attacks, allowing companies to warn one another via government intermediaries about the tools and techniques of advanced hackers. But privacy critics say it also threatens to open up a new backchannel for surveillance of American citizens, in some cases granting the same companies legal immunity to share their users’ private data with government agencies that include the NSA.

Report: Small L.A. County cities seize large amounts in civil forfeitures

The seizures by police in South Gate, Beverly Hills, Baldwin Park and other relatively small cities dwarf those made by much larger police departments in California from 2006 through 2013, according to the Drug Policy Alliance. Perhaps there’s a national threat brewing; perhaps they’re anticipating a war. Is the economy collapsing? Is the Martial law involved? Or is it just practical training?
There’s always a reason for things to be kept secret, what are our leaders up to this time, and why are “we the people” kept in the dark?

5 Corporations Sucking California Dry During the Drought

As most people in the country know by now, California is currently suffering from a severe, record-breaking drought. In fact, it’s the worst drought in 1,200 years. While Governor Jerry Brown recently issued a mandate for people to start conserving water, large corporations use up and waste vastly more water than individuals and small businesses, often in ways that are detrimental to the environment.

Let’s take a look at five of the most massive corporations in California that are the worst culprits when it comes to wasting water:

Detroit Just Had the Single Largest Tax Foreclosure in American History

Unlike so many industrial innovations, the revolving door was not developed in Detroit. It took its first spin in Philadelphia in 1888, the brainchild of Theophilus Van Kannel, the soon-to-be founder of the Van Kannel Revolving Door Company. Its purpose was twofold: to better insulate buildings from the cold and to allow greater numbers of people easier entry at any given time.

On March 31st at the Wayne Country Treasurer's Office, that Victorian-era invention was accomplishing neither objective. Then again, no door in the history of architecture—rotating or otherwise—could have accommodated the latest perversity Detroit officials were inflicting on city residents: the potential eviction of tens of thousands, possibly as many as 100,000 people, all at precisely the same time.

Fast Tracking Democracy to Hell: Why the Trans-Pacific Partnership Is a Rotten Deal

Free traders in Congress formally proposed last week that lawmakers relax, put their feet up and neglect the rigor of legislative review for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade scheme.

The TPP is a secret deal among 12 Pacific Rim nations that was covertly negotiated by unelected officials and corporate bosses. It’s so clandestine that lawmakers elected to represent the American people were refused access to the deliberations. It would expand secret trade tribunals that corporations use to sue governments over democratically established laws and win compensation from taxpayers.

After Lord Janner I now believe the Establishment DOES shamelessly twist justice to protect its own

There was a time when I regarded the idea of an ‘Establishment cover-up’ with a pinch of salt. Was it really plausible that the powers-that-be should act in concert over a prolonged period of time to suppress the truth?

Even if they attempted to do so, surely some decent person would sooner or later speak out, or inform the Press. It seemed unlikely that evil on a vast scale could be concealed more or less indefinitely in what is supposed to be a free and open society.

I’m afraid a succession of sex abuse cases have blown apart my preconceptions. It’s plain beyond any dispute that politicians, senior policemen and members of the security services have conspired to protect abusers because they were considered important, and to deny their victims justice.

Police Imposing Death Sentence Without Trial

In the last minutes of the video, Harris lies on the pavement with police on top of him. An officer calls for a Taser, but in place of an electric clicking sound, a gunshot rings out.

A voice can be heard saying, "Oh! I shot him! I'm sorry!" Another officer screams out, "He shot him! He shot him!"

Harris, who is bleeding, calls out, too. He's losing his breath, he says. An officer yells back at him.

"You f**king ran! Shut the f**k up!" he yells. "F**k your breath," he said.

Clark defended the officer's language, saying the deputy experienced auditory exclusion, never heard the gunshot and thought the suspect was out of breath from running. The language has no bearing on whether the shooting was justified, Clark said.

Australia vaccine war update: the people, slaves to the State

The other day, I wrote about radical changes in Australian vaccination policy. Principally, the national government has unilaterally decided that parents who receive government money will have that money taken away, if they don’t vaccinate their children. (See: Australia: refuse vaccination, lose $15,000)

Now I have learned that all families in Australia receive some form of government money. So the policy change affects everyone.

Which, of course, is what happens when citizens become beholden to big government. Government taketh, giveth back, taketh again, on their own timetable, according to their own dictates.

Anger at acquittal of Chicago policeman in shooting of woman

A judge's surprise acquittal of an off-duty Chicago police officer in the shooting death of an unarmed woman called into question prosecutors' decision not to charge the man with murder, and set off protests for a second day Tuesday.

That the officer shot Rekia Boyd, 22, was never in dispute. But the judge said he was bound to find detective Dante Servin not guilty of involuntary manslaughter — because manslaughter requires evidence of "recklessness," while the judge described the act of shooting as "intentional."

Twilight Zone Economics

The US government has annual income of approximately $3 Trillion and official debt in excess of $18 Trillion. This does not count other liabilities such as Fannie and Freddie, and massive unfunded liabilities. But assuming “only” $18 Trillion in debt (optimistic) the US has the same ratio as a family with $60K income and $360K in credit card debt.

But this is not recognized as a problem because the Treasury sells bonds and the Fed “prints” the currency to buy the bonds. Debt increases and the US government spends. Life is good for politicians and bankers.

Ex-Stasi "expert" consult with U.S. on homeland security

It was reported last December that former East German Secret Police (Staats Sicherheitsdienst, or Stasi) Director Markus Wolf was being considered for the top post at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The rumor caused such a stir that the Bush administration chose Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Michael Chertoff to replace outgoing Tom Ridge as Director of Homeland Security.

Wolf was, at one time, considered by the U.S. State Department to be a terrorist.

Wolf, who had been consulting with the department, is expected to continue in his capacity as a consultant for the federal agency charged with keeping Americans safe.

Under the directorship of Wolf, the Stasi was one of the most ruthless police forces ever assembled.

Right to privacy 'could be meaningless in 10 years under Tory and Labour plans'

The private lives of Britons will be an open book to the state within 10 years, campaigners have warned, highlighting manifesto pledges from Labour and the Conservatives that promise more powers for spies.

Both parties have pledged to extend the powers of the security agencies, nearly two years after revelations by former US National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden shone a light on the extent of state surveillance in Britain and the US.

Last month a committee of MPs called for an overhaul of laws governing the intelligence agencies’ use of mass surveillance to make them more transparent, comprehensible and up to date. Labour and the Tories both promise better oversight, but they also promise to strengthen the powers of the agencies.

According to the waitress, Mr. Key returned shortly thereafter with two bottles of wine and said: “This is for you, sorry. I didn’t realize.” She wrote that his assertion that he had not been aware his behavior was unwelcome “was almost more offensive than the harassment itself.”

How the Federal Reserve Is Destroying Your Economic Future

When it comes to what goes on in the marble corridors of the Federal Reserve, Americans tend to be suspicious. For different reasons, both the right and the left have challenged Fed policies aimed at bolstering the economy in the wake of the Great Recession.

In two papers for the Institute of New Economic Thinking’s Working Group on the Political Economy of Distribution, “Have Large Scale Asset Purchases Increased Bank Profits?” and the forthcoming “The Impact of ‘Quantitative Easing’ on Expected Profits: Explaining the Rise and Fall of the Fed’s QE Policy,” economist Gerald Epstein and his colleague Juan Antonio Montecino sought to find out who in the economy tends to benefit from the Fed’s actions. They conclude that Wall Street and wealthy Americans are the big winners from policies like quantitative easing, while the rest see little improvement in their economic lives. End result? Inequality is getting worse.

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS!

Liberate the Bank of Canada, Intrepid Think Tank Urges

You know the old aphorism -- "If a tree falls in the forest...?" Well, how about this one: If citizens win a significant victory in court against an autocratic government involving the fleecing of Canadians of billions of their hard-earned tax dollars and no one in the media actually covers it, did it really happen?

That might well be the question being asked over at the Committee for Monetary and Economic Reform (COMER) a very small and low-budget Toronto think tank. With their lawyer Rocco Galati (of Supreme Court fame in the Marc Nadon case), they have been steadily winning court battles initiated in 2011 that would oblige the Bank of Canada to return to its pre-1974 practice of lending the government money virtually interest free. But the mainstream media has boycotted the story. Galati believes the Harper government has done some serious arm-twisting to keep the story buried.

District Attorney Says Encrypted Phones May Make You a Terrorist Because They “Cannot Be Accessed by Law Enforcement”

As we reported last week, even the Third Amendment can now be violated so that law enforcement officials can forcibly occupy your home to gain a tactical advantage against criminal or terror suspects.

This is America in 2015 so it’s no surprise that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. wants total access to your personal effects. If it were up to Vance, you as an individual would have no right to secure your personal phone or computer data. As far as the DA is concerned, if you are encrypting your passwords, private messages, and personal notes you are denying nosy big government operatives the intrusive access they so desperately need to control you.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This country's elites have said "good bye and good rubbish" to the protections which used to be extended to ordinary working people under the Bill of Rights and Constitution, and they are trying desperately to make this lack of on-line liberty stick.

But it cannot, and it won't, because people not only want, but also deserve, their privacy on line. Wanting to keep private communication private should not be construed as alleged "terroristic behaviour".

The Federal Government cannot decrypt everything, and those 6 NSA challenges Mike has done have gone completely unanswered, although we know that several people (most likely from one of the "Alphabet Soup" agencies) have tried, and failed miserably.

DOJ Admits FBI Forensic Examiners Gave False Testimony for Decades

In response to a Washington Post investigation, the Department of Justice and FBI have formally admitted that the majority of FBI forensic hair analysts provided flawed testimony and false evidence against criminal defendants for nearly three decades. Exclusive: Wary of natural disaster, NY Fed bulks up in Chicago

The New York branch of the U.S. Federal Reserve, wary that a natural disaster or other eventuality could shut down its market operations as it approaches an interest rate hike, has added staff and bulked up its satellite office in Chicago.

Some market technicians have transferred from New York and others were hired at the office housed in the Chicago Fed, according to several people familiar with the build-out that began about two years ago, after Hurricane Sandy struck Manhattan.

Officials believe the Chicago staffers can now handle all of the market operations that are done daily out of the New York Fed, which is the U.S. central bank's main conduit to Wall Street.

Pennsylvania police officer charged with murdering suspect

A Pennsylvania police officer waived a preliminary hearing Monday on charges that she murdered a man who had run away from a traffic stop by shooting him twice in the back as he lay face-down in the snow.

Officer Lisa Mearkle, 36, appeared before a district judge on Monday and waived her right to a hearing to determine whether there was enough evidence to justify a trial. She is free on $250,000 bail with electronic monitoring.

The victim, David Kassick, 59, of Hummelstown, died shortly after being shot on Feb. 2. Kassick, who like Mearkle was white, was unarmed and had run away from a traffic stop.

The case is the latest in a string of controversial police shootings captured on video. Earlier this month, a South Carolina policeman was charged with murder for fatally shooting an unarmed man in the back as he ran away.

Courtroom erupts after judge finds Chicago cop not guilty in Rekia Boyd fatal shooting trial

A judge on Monday found Chicago police officer Dante Servin not guilty of involuntary manslaughter, saying there was no evidence he acted recklessly when he killed Rekia Boyd, 22, in an off-duty shooting in 2012.

After a four-day bench trial, which is heard before a judge without a jury, Cook County Associate Judge Dennis Porter said in a written finding that Servin’s actions were intentional and so did not fit the charges brought by the state’s attorney.

Boyd’s family erupted in shouts and tears after the ruling.

“They said a lot of charges didn’t fit,” said Boyd’s brother, Martinez Sutton, outside the courthouse, in tears. “I was promised that they were going to take this officer down.”

A few protesters held a large sign reading “STOP murder by police” and photographs of some 20 black people who have been killed by police across the country, including Boyd.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The killings of MANY unarmed people in the Police State of Amerika has grown exponentially, and partially because police across the country are getting their training from former, or current, members of Israel's IDF, which means that now, US citizens are treated with the same deadly contempt as are the Palestinians.

And the only thing the police officer has to say at the trial, to get him or her legally off the hook, is that they "believed their lives to be in danger."

That's it,folks.

Heads Up: Gov’t plans to Tax our Savings Accounts

A new political scheme to tax bank accounts, according to the Australian Financial Review, might be locked in place in Australian banks as soon as January 1, 2016. [1-4] This could quickly be copied by other tax-hungry welfare states, including ours.

This bank deposit tax will likely begin at a low percentage, to create a legal precedent; but it is expected to grow rapidly, as the income tax did in the United States.

Like many modern taxes, this planned tax on bank accounts is being framed as a tax on the banks, not on individual customers. Its cost, however, will be passed on to depositors in the form of higher fees or lower interest paid on their accounts.

This tax on bank deposits is projected from its start to raise around $500 million each year, purportedly for a “Financial Stabilization Fund” to help protect banks from collapse in future financial crises.

BILL BEFORE CONGRESS WOULD AUTHORIZE SECRECY AND SURVEILLANCE, NOT "CYBER SECURITY"

A provision in the falsely-named "cyber security" bill currently being debated in congress would—in addition to enabling more warrantless government spying—create a gaping hole in the Freedom of Information Act, potentially allowing federal agencies to keep secret any information they don't want made public. The new exemption to FOIA would cover all "information shared with or provided to the Federal Government" through the so-called "cyber security" information sharing program, Politico reports.

Senators Chuck Grassley and Pat Leahy have raised concerns about the provision. Politico quotes Grassley from a 2012 hearing on a similar proposal:

STUNNED GREEKS REACT TO INITIAL CAPITAL CONTROLS AND THE “DECREE TO CONFISCATE RESERVES”, AND THEY ARE NOT HAPPY

Earlier today, following weeks of speculation, Greece finally launched the first shot across the bow of capital controls, when it decreed that due to an “extremely urgent and unforeseen need” (ironically the need was quite foreseen since about 2010, but that is a different story), it would be “obliged” to transfer – as in confiscate - “idle cash reserves”located across the country’s local governments (i.e., various cities and municipalities) to the Greek central bank.

Bloomberg reports, that “as Greece struggles to find cash to stay afloat, local authorities say they oppose a government decision to use their reserves for short-term financing.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

THE BANKSTER WAR ON CASH; JP MORGAN CHASE BEGINS TO PROHIBIT THE STORAGE OF CASH IN ITS SAFETY DEPOSIT BOXES

Letters are apparently going out to some JPMoragnChase customers announcing that cash will be prohibited from being stored in the bank's safety deposit boxes.

At the Collectors Universe message board, a commenter reports:
My mother has a SDB at a Chase branch with one of my siblings as co-signers. Last week they got a letter outlining a number of changes to the lease agreement, including this:

"Contents of the box: You agree not to store any cash or coins other than those found to have a collectible value."

Another change is that signatures will no longer be accepted to access the box. The next time they go in they have to bring two forms of ID and they will be issued a four-digit pin number that will be used to access the box then and in the future.

If you believe that a Cypress-style account "haircut" cannot happen here, you need to think again.

Please have no more money in your checking account than you absolutely need to pay your bills.

POLICE WORKING WITH DHS & MOTOROLA ARE USING PRIVATE SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS TO CREATE A MASSIVE SPY NETWORK

When a 911 call comes in, St. Louis police now may be able to see the scene before responding officers have time to arrive.

It’s part of the Real Time Crime Center, opened Thursday to bring together an array of electronic resources — including a network of public and private surveillance cameras!

DHS puppet, St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said:

“Today is a great day for law enforcement and a bad day for criminals in the city of St. Louis.” That says it all right there, law enforcement considers it a great day, when private corporations work with law enforcement to spy on you. Dotson adds, “Cameras in public space are a part of everyday life. The case study is there, the examples are there, we’re just getting caught up.”

Access to private cameras also means not having to wait for a business to open to examine its recorded images, Lt. Brent Feig said. “We’re really leveraging the public space,” he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a resident of St. Louis, I do not believe that I would be "more safe", with this equipment in place; rather, I would understand that the 4th Amendment, which used to protect US citizens against unreasonable search and seizure, no longer exists in practice, nationally.

I understand that I continue to sound like a chipped CD on this issue, but people with skills and kids, GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS COUNTRY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!

Ethics Professor Says It’s “Quite Reasonable” to Kill Disabled Babies via Obamacare

A professor at the highly esteemed Princeton University doesn’t want his Obamacare premiums to increase because of caring for severely disabled babies. Dr. Pete Singer, who teaches ethics (but perhaps needs a little refresher on what the word “ethics” means) argued during a radio interview on Sunday that America should be more accepting of “intentionally ending the lives of severely disabled infants.”

Almost everyone involved in developing Tor was (or is) funded by the US government

“The United States government can’t simply run an anonymity system for everybody and then use it themselves only. Because then every time a connection came from it people would say, “Oh, it’s another CIA agent.” If those are the only people using the network.” — Roger Dingledine, co-founder of the Tor Network, 2004

“This is the conversation. I want to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager in the back,” Morrison said.

When a Cop Killed an Innocent White Youth, the Press Was Silent

When a Black Cop Killed an Innocent White Youth in Utah, the Press Was Silent
It has been reported that cops kill about 500 innocent Americans per year. More whites than blacks are victims of deadly police shootings. Yet most of those stories stay buried or at best, see limited life in local media or the blogosphere. Only the select, as in selected by the media, stories become as big as the Michael Brown story. Certain stories simply transcend the perceived boredom of news headlines and become a part of pop culture.

Does the media intentionally stir up racial hatred? Is it part of their agenda?

Newly Leaked TTIP Draft Reveals Far-Reaching Assault on US/EU Democracy

A freshly-leaked chapter from the highly secretive Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) agreement, currently under negotiation between the United States and European Union, reveals that the so-called "free trade" deal poses an even greater threat to environmental and human rights protections—and democracy itself—than previously known, civil society organizations warn.

The revelation comes on the heels of global protests against the mammoth deal over the weekend and coincides with the reconvening of negotiations between the parties on Monday in New York.

The European Commission's latest proposed chapter (pdf) on "regulatory cooperation" was first leaked to Friends of the Earth and dates to the month of March. It follows previous leaks of the chapter, and experts say the most recent iteration is even worse.

‘Release cards’ turn inmates and their families into profit stream

In 2013 Gregg Cavaluzzi walked out of federal prison with nothing more than the clothes he wore going in five years earlier and a Chase-branded debit card holding what remained of money sent by family members and the meager pay he’d earned working in the prison library.

“They simply gave me the debit card and said ‘Your money’s on it,’” he recalled.

But when he used the card to pay for a celebratory meal at Wendy’s, Cavaluzzi noticed that his balance was lower than he expected. “I called Chase and they said there’s an administrative fee and a fee every time you use it at an ATM,” he said. As Cavaluzzi would soon discover, those were just two of several fees attached to his card. “There were fees for transferring the money to a bank and closing the account. There was even an inactivity fee if you didn't use the card for 90 days. I left prison with $120. Because of the fees I was only able to use about $70 of it.”

Prosecutors drop robbery case to preserve stingray secrecy in St. Louis

Prosecutors in St. Louis, Missouri, have seemingly allowed four robbery suspects to go free instead of explaining law enforcement’s use of a stingray in court proceedings.

The St. Louis case provides yet another real-world example where prosecutors have preferred to drop charges instead of fully disclose how the devices, also known as cell-site simulators, work in the real world. Last year, prosecutors in Baltimore did the same thing during a robbery trial.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If use of the Stingray means you cannot prosecute the criminals you find with it, then why use it at all in the first place? What is Stingray really doing that the government would rather allow criminals go free to continue their criminality than inform the public what the system does?

Court sentences ousted Egypt president to 20 years in prison

An Egyptian criminal court on Tuesday sentenced ousted Islamist President Mohammad Morsi to 20 years in prison over the killing of protesters in 2012, the first verdict to be issued against the country's first freely elected leader.

The Cairo Criminal Court issued the verdict as Morsi and other defendants in the case - mostly Muslim Brotherhood leaders - stood in a soundproof glass cage inside a makeshift courtroom at Egypt's national police academy.

The case stems from violence outside the presidential palace in December 2012. Morsi's supporters attacked opposition protesters, sparking clashes that killed at least 10 people.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The 20 year sentence isn't for the killing of protesters, but for daring to oust the US puppet Mubarak! Still, compared to other leaders who defied the empire, like Saddam and Gaddafi, Morsi got off lucky, still being alive and all.

Trans-Pacific Partnership: Not About Free Trade

The TPP covers a bewildering range of topics. In addition to conventional trade issues like tariff rates, it includes language on labor rights, environmental laws, copyright and patent protections, e-commerce, state-owned enterprises, corruption, and government procurement.

Trade deals like the TPP have grown so complex because the global trade community has figured out how to solve a problem that has bedeviled philosophers and political leaders for centuries: how to craft international agreements with teeth. The WTO's dispute-settlement process, which serves as a model for the TPP, puts pressure on countries to actually keep the promises they make in trade deals. That's why everyone with an agenda — wealthy investors, drug companies, labor unions, environmental groups, and so on — is scrambling to get on the bandwagon.

The forgotten coup - how America and Britain crushed the government of their 'ally', Australia

Australia briefly became an independent state during the Whitlam years, 1972-75. An American commentator wrote that no country had "reversed its posture in international affairs so totally without going through a domestic revolution". Whitlam ended his nation's colonial servility. He abolished Royal patronage, moved Australia towards the Non-Aligned Movement, supported "zones of peace" and opposed nuclear weapons testing.

Although not regarded as on the left of the Labor Party, Whitlam was a maverick social democrat of principle, pride and propriety. He believed that a foreign power should not control his country's resources and dictate its economic and foreign policies. He proposed to "buy back the farm". In drafting the first Aboriginal lands rights legislation, his government raised the ghost of the greatest land grab in human history, Britain's colonisation of Australia, and the question of who owned the island-continent's vast natural wealth.

Why the rise of fascism is again the issue

The recent 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz was a reminder of the great crime of fascism, whose Nazi iconography is embedded in our consciousness. Fascism is preserved as history, as flickering footage of goose-stepping blackshirts, their criminality terrible and clear. Yet in the same liberal societies, whose war-making elites urge us never to forget, the accelerating danger of a modern kind of fascism is suppressed; for it is their fascism.

"To initiate a war of aggression...," said the Nuremberg Tribunal judges in 1946, "is not only an international crime, it is the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole."
