Synchronicities, Sayonara to the Salad Days, and Sweet Crude Pasteurization for Mass Consumption

An extremely long journal entry detailing my thoughts about the Gulf Oil Disaster, with lots of rambling about my conflicting emotions as a consumer, dredged up while I helped my mom and sister pack up their stuff to leave their home on Florida's Gulf Coast.

The 15 page plus entry (with photos!) can be found here:

Is the CNN video of the BP oil cap real?

The sudden decision of BP to cap the well after telling us that nothing could be done until the relief wells were completed in August came as a surprise to me. Supposedly, there was no technology to cap a leak at this psi.

BP shares rose 9 percent with the news of the cap and their possible sale of assets in Alaska.

Look where the oil is headed. Look at the size of the cloud over the blowout. Tell me that crap is not going to contaminate a large potion of the South East.

Poets, Priests and Politicians

We now face the worst environmental crisis in human history. Our lives will be irrevocably changed from the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico. What we need here is honesty and integrity. Instead we get a canned speech with plugs for those who want to tax carbon dioxide. 579 words in a 2,679 word speech were devoted to selling the idea of a carbon tax disguised as clean energy.

Thoughts on the Oilocolypse

Lengthy ramblings on the Gulf, but some readers might be interested in two things. First, photos taken May 26th of possible oil sheen on the Florida Keys, a week plus before the Coast guard admitted to the sheen, and second, this exchange:

I asked if there was any news about the top kill attempt to plug the hole and he replied, “They’re never going to cap that well. They can’t. If they do, they lose the lease.”

“What?”

“The reason for the slant drilling is so that they have two more access points before they ‘try’ to cap the blowout. Without new access points, they lose the lease, no more oil.”

I have not seen this issue addressed anywhere, but it helps to make sense of BP's refusal to cap the well on the largest oil field in the Caribbean.

2 + 2 = 4

The government says 2 + 2 = 5 and only a freedom-hating, Muslim terrorist believes otherwise. The Federal Reserve, which is not part of the federal government, says 2 + 2 = 5, but when grilled by Rep. Ron Paul and Rep. Alan Grayson, Bernanke mumbles something incomprehensible about off-balance sheets and buying calculators from China procured via Halliburton for a mere $39,769 per calculator, C.O.D The corporate media sells 2 + 2 = 5 in between informercials and sports scores while the dying print media writes 2 + 2 = 5 and then buries a retraction a few days later in between classified ads for Magic Mandy’s All Night Massage and the meth addiction hotline that’s been disconnected for lack of funding.

The collapse of the US economy - a letter to my bank

In December, the Bank of International Settlements released a comprehensive study of the global economy, the conclusion of which was that the unwinding of the global economy is past the point of no return. Let me rephrase that. The BIS - the bank of the world?s central bankers - concludes that the global economy can never recover.

Home Invasion Blues

This is a blog post I wrote about a home invasion a few days ago. It's not exactly something you would expect to see on WRH, which is why I am putting it under a blog post. (I don't have a good category for it, either, hence the current affairs header.)

I live in Nicaragua, so a lot of people will think this is to be expected. However, it is a result of not only sadism and envy, but of deteriorating economic conditions. A few weeks ago, I told my husband we needed to leave the country because as business owners, we would be a target of the have-nots. I am posting this here because many WRH readers have taken the time to prepare for the events that are about to unfold and those who chose not to prepare out of ignorance or laziness will steal from those who have prepared.
