5 Lost Photos That Could Have Changed History

So 20 years passed, and Enyart marched himself back to LAPD to get his pictures. He was told they were lost. It wasn't until a year later (when the now-middle-aged former photographer got ready to sue the city of Los Angeles) that the hunt for the negatives really began. And guess what? It took six years, but they found them! Yay!

Finally, in 1996 a courier was assigned to deliver the prints and the negatives to Jamie Scott Enyart. Unfortunately, the courier had a flat tire on the way to make his delivery. So he stopped off at a gas station for a few seconds, and BAM.

The car was broken into and the pictures and negatives were stolen.

I-495 bridge closed because of tilting columns

Delaware officials on Monday ordered the emergency closure of the Interstate 495 bridge over the Christina River in Wilmington after discovering that four support columns are tilting.

The 4,800-foot bridge normally carries about 90,000 vehicles a day on I-495, which diverts traffic around the city of Wilmington and toward the Port of Wilmington. The route parallels Interstate 95, which runs through downtown Wilmington.

"We understand that there will be a significant impact to the traveling public," said state Transportation Secretary Shailen Bhatt.

Holder announces task force on 'homegrown' terrorists ...

Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder, Jr. on Monday announced the creation of a task force within the Justice Department to combat an “escalating danger” from “homegrown” terrorists within the United States.

The Justice Department, in a news release accompanying Holder’s weekly video address, cited a Congressional Research Service report last year that said domestic terrorists were responsible for more than two dozen incidents in the U.S. since 9/11.

Honor student charged with 2 felonies for making a volcano as science experiment

A 16-year-old girl was arrested and expelled from school after she demonstrating the traditional ‘erupting volcano’ in class as a science experiment. Even a year later, she is still being haunted by the multiple felonies she was charged with.

Kiera Wilmot’s volcano was designed to demonstrate a chemical reaction simulating a volcanic eruption. Inside her volcano prop, was an 8-ounce water bottle with some toilet bowl cleaner in it. When the cleaner is exposed to aluminum, it creates an exothermic chemical reaction.

Her experiment got her in serious trouble on April 29th, 2013.

“When I put the aluminum foil into the bottle, the lid popped off an a little bit of smoke climbed out of the bottle,” Kiera described.

No one was hurt. No damage was caused. No harm was done.

“The principal asked what was going on, and I told him it was just a little science experiment,” Kiera continued. She was pulled out of class and led to the office by a school resource officer.

Were I the dean of a prestigious science focused university in Florida, I would immediately grant this kid a full,completely paid-for, 4 year scholarship.

And the policies of this school, and the way they treated this kid in the aftermath of this science experiment, prove Ron White correct yet again: you can't fix stupid!!

SWAT locks down California school for 4 hours during class-by-class weapons search

Students at a California high school were forced to hunker down as SWAT teams with weapons drawn searched their entire campus for weapons. The effort included a warrantless search of students’ vehicles, lockers, backpacks, and classrooms. The long 4-hour detention reportedly forced some students to urinate in darkened classrooms.

Panicky school administrators summoned the Orange County Sheriff’s Department around 11:45 a.m. — just before lunch. Students were immediately locked down and forced to stay detained in their classrooms.

Dozens of officers arrived and brought their $250,000 armored Lenco Bearcat vehicle. Deputies could be seen suiting up for battle before entering the school.

Were I a parent with a kid in that school, the very next morning after this episode, I would have pulled the kid OUT of school, and immediately started home-schooling that teenager.

The teenage years are traumatic enough without being locked down like this, with 4th Amendment rights being violated BY THE POLICE, thank you very much.

Israeli authorities deny UK visit for nuclear whistleblower

A decade after his release from prison for leaking information on Israel’s nuclear weapon program, Mordechai Vanunu has been denied permission to attend a human rights conference in London.

Vanunu, who was released in 2004 after spending 18 years in prison for leaking details of Israel’s nuclear program to British media, had planned to visit the UK capital for three days to attend a conference sponsored by Amnesty International and address the British parliament, Haaretz, the Israeli daily reported on Monday.

Israeli Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein, however, refused to approve the trip. Vanunu petitioned the High Court of Justice to reverse the decision, but judging by previous appeals that does not seem likely.

Since leaving prison in June 2004, the nuclear technician has been forbidden to leave the country or speak with foreigners without permission from the Shin Bet security service.

He's Venezuela's democratically elected president. It doesn't matter. Washington's dirty war continues.

It's done so since Chavez's December 1998 election. He became president in February 1999. He served until his March 5, 2013 death.

He survived Washington's April 2002 coup attempt. A 64-day 2002 - 03 general strike and oil management lockout.

A failed August 2004 national recall referendum. He was Washington's main hemispheric enemy. It wanted him ousted.

It wanted him dead. Obama killed him. Most likely by poison or cancer causing substances. Four major surgeries in 18 months couldn't save him.

He knew he was marked for death. He said so numerous times. So did Maduro, saying he "was poisoned by dark forces in order to hit at the Venezuelan people and Latin America."

Washington targets all independent nations for regime change. It wants subservient pro-Western governance replacing them.

Infrastructure Sticker Shock: Financing Costs More than Construction

The tunnels were billed to voters as a $25 billion project. That estimate, however, omitted interest and fees. Construction itself is estimated at a relatively modest $18 billion. But financing through bonds issued at 5% for 30 years adds $24-40 billion to the tab. Another $9 billion will go to wetlands restoration, monitoring and other costs, bringing the grand total to $51-67 billion – three or four times the cost of construction.

Spanish court makes first conviction of bankers since start of crisis

For the first time since the economic crisis began, a group of bankers has been found guilty of financial crimes in Spain.

But the former leaders of Caixa Penedès, a Catalan savings bank that received €915 million in state aid before being bought out by another bank, may be able to avoid going to jail despite their joint five-year conviction.

Instead, former director general Ricard Pagès Font and his three aides have promised to return the €28.6 million in retirement plans that they granted themselves before leaving the lender. Caixa Penedès was ultimately bought out by Banco Sabadell in October 2013 after receiving the bailout money.

SWAT team threatened after grenade injures toddler in drug raid

Members of a northeast Georgia SWAT team are "devastated" after a drug raid in which a flash-bang grenade landed in a 1-year-old's playpen, seriously injuring the child, the Habersham County sheriff said Friday.

The police officers involved have been called baby killers and received threats following the incident, Sheriff Joey Terrell said.

The police are being turned into a force to brutalize the American people, trained and equipped as an occupying army. Thailand's Army Deploys Thousands Of Troops Against Protesters

Thailand's ruling junta deployed thousands of security forces on the streets of Bangkok on Sunday to thwart another round of small-scale protests denouncing last month's military coup. Hundreds of demonstrators came out and several were detained, but there was no violence.

Fears over possible unrest, however, prompted a major downtown shopping mall to close and authorities temporarily shut down several subway and elevated train stations near where protests could have materialized.

Thailand has been calm since the army overthrew the nation's elected government on May 22, saying it had to restore order after seven months of demonstrations that had triggered sporadic violence and left the country's political rivals in a stalemate.

LAPD Adds Drones to Arsenal, Says They’ll Be Used Sparingly

The Los Angeles Police Department has acquired some eyes in the sky.

On Friday, the department announced that it had acquired two “unmanned aerial vehicles” as gifts from the Seattle Police Department.

The Draganflyer X6 aircraft, which resemble small helicopters, are each about 3 feet wide and equipped with a camera, video camera and infrared night-vision capabilities.

Charge Blair with contempt of Parliament - only then will we know if he lied over Iraq: An explosive proposal from former foreign secretary DAVID OWEN as crucial evidence from Chilcot Inquiry is censored

The embers of one war can spark the flames of another.

There can be no doubt that the 2003 Iraq War and the insurgency that followed has been an important contributor to the civil war devastating Syria - a reason, if another was needed, to forensically examine Tony Blair’s actions of more than a decade ago.

Democratic politics make great demands on a Prime Minister in time of war.

However, there is nothing more corrosive to their reputation than the accusation that they have lied to the House of Commons – as Anthony Eden did over the Suez Crisis in 1956.

Blair is increasingly believed to have done the same over Iraq. The former Prime Minister denies it, of course, and remains unashamedly active on the political stage.

There are three aspects of Iraq we need to remember. The first is the fact that no nuclear weapons were ever found in Iraq. The second is Tony Blair's "Dodgy Dossier" and the forged Niger Uranium documents, intended to prove Iraq was importing "yellow cake" processed uranium to build weapons with. The "Dodgy Dossier" was a fake, copied from an outdated student thesis paper that describes Iraq not at the time of the 2003 invasion, but as it was before Desert Storm in 1990. The Niger Uranium documents were exposed as a hoax by former ambassador Joseph Wilson in 2002, with the resulting White House backlash leading to the firing of Wilson's wife Valeria Plame and the inadvertent exposure of Plame's employer, Brewster Jennings & Associates as a CIA front.

Now, common sense will tell you that if you have real evidence of something, such as Saddam having nuclear weapon, the very last thing you do is use fake evidence, because discovery of the fake would undermine confidence in your entire case. Thus, if any part of the evidence turns out to be a fraud, then it is ALL a fraud, which again, given that no nuclear weapons were ever found in Iraq, has proven to be the case. (There is a persistent story making the rounds that the US tried to sneak in an Israeli nuclear weapon to plant on Saddam during the start of the 2003 invasion, but that it was destroyed in a friendly fire attack, heavily contaminating the Baghdad Airport.)

Obama Seeks to More Heavily Censor Drone Killing Memo

During last week’s confirmation votes on David Barron, the Justice Department was promising to comply with a court order to release a partially redacted version of the Barron Memo, which offers the administration’s legal justification for killing Americans overseas with drone strikes.

Now that the Senate has confirmed Barron, the administration has changed its mind, and is pushing the court to give them permission to even more heavily censor the document.

The Barron Memo is the morally slippery slope to enable the government to ultimately use armed drones right here in the homeland against American citizens.

I mean, what is the leap of logic from being able to extrajudicially assassinate any American overseas, with utterly no due process, to extrajudicially assassinating Americans right here in the United States of America?!?

New federal database will track Americans' credit ratings, other financial information

As many as 227 million Americans may be compelled to disclose intimate details of their families and financial lives -- including their Social Security numbers -- in a new national database being assembled by two federal agencies.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau posted an April 16 Federal Register notice of an expansion of their joint National Mortgage Database Program to include personally identifiable information that reveals actual users, a reversal of previously stated policy.

FHFA will manage the database and share it with CFPB. A CFPB internal planning document for 2013-17 describes the bureau as monitoring 95 percent of all mortgage transactions.

FHFA officials claim the database is essential to conducting a monthly mortgage survey required by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 and to help it prepare an annual report for Congress.

How incredibly not thought through: to avoid being part of this database, people are not going to buy homes anymore, knowing what the surveillance costs will be.

Wow, the thinking in DC must be, let's trash this economy even more than it is already trashed, and really destroy the housing market in this country. Just.....brilliant!!

People are always skeptical when the talk of martial law or military action against citizens pops up in the blogosphere. The discussion is elevated to a whole new level, though, when a major media outlet like the Washington Times publishes a terrifying report on a new directive that essentially empowers the President to use military force against citizens in times of unrest.

Student In Wheelchair Beaten By School Security Guard In Oakland, Police Say

A special needs student in a wheelchair was allegedly beaten by a school security guard in California -- and much of the incident was caught on video.

"He slapped me. He hit me so hard, it threw me out of my chair. I hit the floor with my chin first. I had a scar right here," Oakland High School student Francisco Martinez told KTVU, pointing to his chin.

The security guard was identified as 23-year-old Marchell Mitchell.

The school said Mitchell, who was a substitute school resource officer, was urging students to get to class on time on May 19. Martinez, 17, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, "either refused to comply or was slow to do so," Principal Matin Abdel-Qawi wrote in a letter to parents cited by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Mitchell then began to push Martinez's wheelchair. When Martinez objected and tried to slap the guard's hands away, Mitchell allegedly handcuffed the teen to the chair.

NYPD Raid On Homeless Shelter Draws Ire Of Advocates

Homeless advocates expressed anger this week at the prospect of more police raids on Manhattan homeless shelters, after NYPD officers last Friday arrested 22 people at the Freedom House on the Upper West Side.

DNAinfo reported last week that police performed background checks on all of the occupants of the Freedom House homeless shelter on the Upper West Side, and that five officers conducted a pre-dawn raid in which 22 people were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, questioned the legality of the raids. "There's no justification for this," she told The Huffington Post in a statement. "Being homeless is not grounds for suspicion that someone has a bench warrant."

Webmaster's Commentary: 

I have to wonder what precisely these bench warrants were for, and if NYPD was "below quota" on their targeted number for bringing in alleged criminals for outstanding warrants.

But this is a true new low for them, and another demonstration of how homelessness per se is getting more and more criminalized every day in this country.

Was Mos Def Banned From the U.S. for Exposing GITMO Torture?

It appears that outspoken rapper Mos Def’s very public activism – which includes making a video in which he is force fed in the same manner by which hunger striking detainees at the U.S. facility in Guantanamo Bay – is costing his fans the chance to see him perform live. Mos Def – whose real name is Yaslin Bey – is currently unable to enter the U.S. due to legal issues, and the site Supajam.com has made the connection with his video on the Guantanamo force-feeding, which any reasonable person would recognize as torture if they would watch.

It’s not a slam dunk case, but it’s certainly worth noting, as typically tyrannical governments do not like when one of their court jesters points out its crimes. And the torture via force-feeding at Guantanamo Bay – performed upon men who have been neither convicted nor even accused of a crime – is itself a crime by any reasonable measure.

Watching this is horrific, but a valuable, lesson in how the US government tortures men, who have not been convicted of any wrongdoing, on a hunger strike at Gitmo.

And please, never think, for one second, that this government wouldn't do it to you, if it felt it was necessary as an object lesson.

Obama Administration Desperate to Censor Assassination Memo

After announcing it would comply with a federal court order, the Obama administration has decided that it wants to conceal more portions of a controversial memo authorizing the assassination of Americans overseas.

Last week, officials with the U.S. Department of Justice said they would make public parts of the internal document written in July 2010 by then-federal lawyer David Barron that justified the use of drones or other means to kill U.S. citizens accused of terrorist involvement.

The declaration came as the U.S. Senate was considering Barron’s confirmation as a judicial appointee to the First Circuit Court of Appeals—a move that helped convince at least one Democratic senator, Mark Udall of Colorado, to support the nomination.

Now, with Barron’s place on the federal bench secure, the Justice Department says it needs to censor some sections of the memo dealing with national secrets, not legal reasoning for the assassinations.

The reasoning for this is that this "logic" paves the way for extrajudicial assassinations of Americans right here at home for alleged "terrorism".

Any BTW, that may well include Christian pacifists (like myself) who would never, ever advocate violence, but have the capability of logically doubling down on any administration which is not doing right by We the People.

In baffling move, TrueCrypt open-source crypto project shuts down

In a move that appears designed to provoke widespread questions, the anonymous managers of the TrueCrypt open-source encryption project abruptly pulled the plug on the effort without explanation.

A mysterious message posted on the project's website on Wednesday warned users of unfixed security errors in TrueCrypt and cautioned them about the software not being secure.

THE FATAL FLAWS IN WALL STREET'S ECONOMIC THEORY

Not actually a part of the government (the Federal Reserve is no more "Federal" than Federal Express), the Federal Reserve is a privately owned central bank which has been given the authority by the US Congress to create money, something which under any other circumstances would be called counterfeiting. Created by act of Congress in 1913 and signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson, the Federal Reserve now exercises the power to create money originally granted to the government itself under the Constitution. It might be argued that such a dramatic reassignment of constitutional powers should have required a Constitutional Amendment, but that is a discussion for another article. What is germane is that the Federal Reserve system is unstable because by design it creates more debt than it creates money with which to pay that debt.

When the Chilcot inquiry was established in 2009, the public was promised it would finally reveal the unvarnished truth about how Tony Blair, in the face of overwhelming opposition, dragged Britain into the shameful Iraq War.

Breaking: James Boyd shot three times in back- official autopsy

The homeless man shot and killed in the Sandia Foothills in mid-March was shot three times, including in the lower-left back, and had no illegal drugs in his system, according to an autopsy and toxicology report released by the Office of the Medical Investigator on Thursday.

James Boyd was seen on helmet-cam video as officers tried to coax him out of the foothills for camping illegally. He brandished two small knives at officers but appeared to surrender and begin walking down the hill when officers shot at him.

I’ve known little Mikey Shermer since 1993. I tell many interesting stories about this “skeptic” fraud in my book, Republican Party Animal (available from Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes & Noble in the US, Waterstones and Foyles in the UK, Indigo/Chapters in Canada…but enough self-promotion).

Speaking today at the West Point commencement speech, President Obama put forward his foreign policy vision, which he described as “might doing right,” declaring that “I believe in American exceptionalism with every fiber of my being.”

Inside the Ring: Memo outlines Obama’s plan to use the military against citizens

The troubling aspect of the directive outlines presidential authority for the use of military arms and forces, including unarmed drones, in operations against domestic unrest.

“This appears to be the latest step in the administration’s decision to use force within the United States against its citizens,” said a defense official opposed to the directive.

Directive No. 3025.18, “Defense Support of Civil Authorities,” was issued Dec. 29, 2010, and states that U.S. commanders “are provided emergency authority under this directive.”

“Federal military forces shall not be used to quell civil disturbances unless specifically authorized by the president in accordance with applicable law or permitted under emergency authority,” the directive states.

The Pentagon directive authorizes the secretary of defense to approve the use of unarmed drones in domestic unrest. But it bans the use of missile-firing unmanned aircraft.

The Pentagon moves to keep Nigeria locked down

The government of Nigeria has long been a tool of European and US corporations. In 2013, the Nigerian regime received $652 million in US foreign aid. Protests were launched all over the world, when Ken Saro Wiwa, an environmental activist, was executed by a military tribunal in 1995. The execution was blatantly done on behalf of Shell Oil, so much so that in 2009 $15.5 million was paid to the families of Wiwa and Shell's other victims in order to prevent a trial in a United States District Court.

When Nigerians held a general strike, demanding better economic conditions on January 9th, 2012, the result was brutal repression. Roads were blocked, curfews imposed, with at least 16 Nigerians killed. By the time the strike ended on January 15th, the military was patrolling the country, enforcing a ban on all protests of any kind.

Obama Snaps At Reporter For Asking About Syria At A Science Fair

President Obama brushed off a reporter on Tuesday after she asked him a question about Syria during the White House science fair.

While the President was meeting with several students at the fair, Real Clear Politics reporter Alexis Simendinger asked him about new reports that the US is close to allowing its military to train moderate Syrian rebels.

"I’m sorry," Obama said curtly. "We’re doing a science fair. Come on."

Memo to Alexis Simendinger: the US government has already allowed its military to train Syrian rebels.

And my dear, if I know this, just as an average, ordinary netizen, why you do not is...puzzling in the extreme.

I would strongly suggest that you take a look at the following article, and count how many verbs are in the past tense.

The interviews are the latest evidence that after more than three years of warfare, the United States has stepped up the provision of lethal aid to the rebels. So you see, Ms. Simendinger, the cat is already out of the proverbial bag, and this training has been ongoing for some time; the decision has already been made, and the Globe and Mail article yesterday on this issue, and those like it, are just about "grooming" the American for more of the same.

But that having been said, the President's conduct toward you was heubristically unprofessional.

He has incredibly secretive, dismissive, and downright nasty elements in his character, which do not augur well for the future of the alleged "free world."

And as a reflection of those elements, consider the way he likes to conduct wars, and that is through drone strikes, which not only kill the alleged bad guy (with absolutely no due process), but take out scores of innocent civilians around them.

Also, his unwavering support for the NDAA, which allows any American citizen to be arrested and held indefinitely, without due process, on any trumped up charge, is of great concern to me.

And the ultimate irony here is, Obama used to be a lecturer on Constitutional law; it is painfully apparent, evaluating what he says and does, that he absolutely despises the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

New footage of Imperial Cops Murdering a Veteran Over Traffic Stop

Tommy Yancy, 32, father of two, was savagely beaten to death by five law enforcement officers during a routine traffic stop near the city of Imperial last Sunday, on Mother's Day. Yancy, a veteran who suffered from PTSD, served in Afghanistan and Iraq in the 259th Field Service Unit following the 9/11 attacks.

Yancy was stopped on his way to the store after a highway patrol officer spotted a missing front license plate on his vehicle. He was subsequently pulled from his car and attacked by a police K-9 unit, hit by a taser, and attacked by five officers until he succumbed to the beating and died. A witnessed, who filmed the incident, can be heard screaming on the recording: "How long before you guys call an ambulance? Call an ambulance!" According to the source of the video, who asked not to be named, his family has not been permitted to see his body, nor have they been given a cause of death.

Iran court summons Mark Zuckerberg over privacy concerns

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has been summoned to appear in an Iranian court as part of a case against social network privacy breaches in the South of the country. He must appear to “defend himself and pay for possible losses.”

The 30 year old stands accused of mass privacy breaches. Iran’s censors previously banned WhatsApp – an application which was cited as the primary reason for the summons. The Committee for Determining Criminal Web Content said that its acquisition by Zuckerberg was a factor in its summons, according to the ISNA news agency.

“According to the court's ruling, the Zionist director of the company of Facebook, or his official attorney must appear in court to defend himself and pay for possible losses,” said Ruhollah Momen-Nasab, an Iranian internet official.

The judge also ordered the two apps blocked.

Cops caused fatal stroke by beating CA veteran tired of waiting at VA hospital, suit claims

A California veteran suffered a stroke that eventually killed him nearly three years ago after police beat him up when he tried to leave a Veterans Hospital with a shunt in his arm, according to a lawsuit filed by the man’s family.

Jonathan Montano grew impatient May 25, 2011, after waiting four hours for dialysis at the VA hospital in Loma Linda, and he told a nurse he intended to leave with the needle apparatus in his arm so staffers at a VA hospital in Long Beach would not have to insert a new one.

But the nursing staff called the VA Police Department, the suit claims, and officers stopped the 65-year-old Montano by tackling him to the floor, slamming his head on the ground, and kneeing and stomping on his neck.

“This kneeing and stomping on his neck by the VA Police Department police officers caused the dissection of his carotid artery, that resulted in immediate (or very soon thereafter) blood clotting, which resulted in [his] suffering a stroke,” the suit claims.

This is a transcript from a court case, Sullivan Versus United States, in which Judge James C. Fox openly admits in the court record (page 23 of this PDF) that the 16th Amendment on which the personal income tax is based was never actually ratified.

He then goes on to admit that the government and courts will treat it as if it were ratified, simply because they have gotten away with it for so long!

So the time has come to take the discussion to the next level. Is the IRS, clearly acting illegally, itself legal? and the answer is "no", it is not. The Constitution forbids direct non-apportioned taxation of the people. An earlier version of the Income Tax was struck down by the United States Supreme Court on those grounds.

The Federal Reserve (itself a clearly unconstitutional usurpation of the money-creation authority vested in Congress by the Constitution) and the IRS claim that the passage of the 16th Amendment allows an income tax, but there are several problems with that claim. First and foremost, the 16th Amendment failed ratification! The necessary 3/4 of the states did not ratify the Amendment. Requests for proof that this Amendment was actually ratified are ignored. The IRS considers their enforcement actions the only legal reply they are required to make. And judges in tax courts (who are funded from tax revenues) inevitably refuse to examine the issue and simply declare from the bench that the Amendment was ratified, a power and authority not granted to judges under the Constitution.

There is one notable exception to this judicial legerdemain, and that is judge James C. Fox, who stated quite clearly in the court record for Sullivan Vs United States that the 16th Amendment, on examination, failed ratification. BATF abuses in history - Ruby Ridge

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms first became aware of Weaver in July 1986 when he was introduced to an ATF informant at a meeting of the Aryan Nations. Weaver had been invited by Frank Kumnick, who was the original target of the ATF investigation. Over the next three years, Weaver and the informant met several times.[4] In October 1989, the ATF claims that Weaver sold the informant two sawed-off shotguns, with the barrels shortened beyond the legal limit set by federal law. Weaver denied this, claiming agents purchased legal shotguns from Weaver and later shortened the barrels themselves. In November 1989 Weaver accused the informant of being police; the informant's ATF handler ordered him to have no further contact with Weaver. In June 1990, ATF agents attempted to have Weaver act as an informant for their investigation into the Aryan Nations organization.

Georgia : GYLA Says Decision on Ivanishvili Citizenship 'Illegal'

Tbilisi-based legal advocacy group, Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) said in a statement on April 5, that the Civil Registry Agency’s decision to refuse Bidzina Ivanishvili in citizenship through naturalization “is not in line with provisions of the Georgian legislation.”

Saakashvili still has until the end of today to overturn the Civil Registry's recommendation that Ivanishvili's application be refused. If he doesn't then he is guilty of making the law up as he goes along...

“If at the time of undergoing naturalization process, an applicant has a foreign citizenship, there should be this applicant’s declared will that in case of entering into the Georgian citizenship, he/she will renounce citizenship of any other country,” GYLA said.

Before applying for citizenship through naturalization, Ivanishvili on December 29, 2011 submitted to the French embassy in Tbilisi a request for launching procedures for his withdrawal from the French citizenship. One of his lawyers, Shalva Tadumadze, said at the time that the move did not mean that Ivanishvili would now become a stateless person; Ivanishvili’s French citizenship would only be revoked in case of gaining the Georgian citizenship, the lawyer said.

“The Civil Registry Agency was aware about [Ivanishvili’s] will that he would have renounced his French citizenship in case of gaining Georgian citizenship. Accordingly, in this particular case, the goal of the law that a person should be only a Georgian citizen after receiving Georgian citizenship through naturalization would have been achieved,” GYLA said.

GYLA also cited the January 30, 2009 presidential order number 39 and a citizenship application form to back its claim that the Civil Registry Agency’s decision was not in accordance to the law. The group said that a citizenship application form contains one line in which an applicant is required to state that in case of granting Georgian citizenship he/she agrees to renounce citizenship of a foreign country and has to indicate that country.

GYLA says this formulation in the application form “unambiguously” shows that an applicant has the right to renounce foreign citizenship only after entering into the Georgian citizenship.

“The goal of the Georgian legislation is that after gaining Georgian citizenship through naturalization, a person should not remain a citizen of any other country. In this particular case, this goal was easily achievable – the Georgian President could have issued a decree on granting Georgian citizenship to a person, which would have been enforced not immediately (to avoid that a person would become a citizen of two countries simultaneously), but only after receiving an official document from the relevant French authorities on satisfying [Ivanishvili’s] application on renouncing French citizenship,” GYLA said.

Georgia : Ivanishvili Still Confident in Regaining Citizenship

A day after being refused in citizenship through naturalization by the Civil Registry Agency, Bidzina Ivanishvili, leader of an opposition Georgian Dream coalition, said he was still confident that he would regain his Georgian passport.

He said the Civil Registry Agency’s decision was so “feeble” and “senseless” that it was not even worth of commenting.

“We will boost the Georgian people’s spirit; I have a concrete plan,” he said. “We will gradually force the authorities to back-off from violence… I promise that we will bring on a situation by this fall wherein the Georgians won’t have any fear and they will freely turn out [at polling stations] and make right choice and we will say no to oppressor Saakashvili,” Ivanishvili said.

Ivanishvili also said on April 5, that decision of the Civil Registry Agency showed President Saakashvili’s “fear” towards a strong political opponent.

“Saakashvili is so afraid, he is in such agony, that he is not even capable to look several days ahead, otherwise he could have seen very well an outrage of the Georgian and international community towards his illegal actions,” Ivanishvili said.

In his comments Ivanishvili hinted that after coming into politics he was trying to provoke President Saakashvili on such actions that would have demonstrated, as Ivanishvili put it, “his real face.”

“I’ve been trying in recent six months to act in a way, to address him in a way that would have maximally promptly and well demonstrated his real face… I think we have managed it very well and I think no one in Georgia has an illusion about who this man [Saakashvili] is and about the fact that the country is ruled by a single man and everything depends on his mood,” Ivanishvili said.

It was reported on BBC News tonight that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others will be charged with orchestrating the September 11 attacks.

Free, Fair and Competitive Elections in the Republic of Georgia?

What does the Georgian government think it can get away with, and what is it willing to risk? Too many people in Misha's circle have blood on their hands and will not give up the power which is their main or only source of livelihood; even it is the family business with some, without more blood being spilt. Many of them have demonstrated their willingness to kill before (for example, Culture Minister Nika Rurua was once exiled from the country for his long involvement with murderous gangsters only to be rehabilitated by Saakashvili without any renunciation of his crimes), and "Bacho" Akhalaia, the current Minister of Defense that once worked in the prison system and tortured prisoners for the fun of it, causing riots which resulted in prisoners being gunned down.

Such people have no place a democratic society, as confirmed by reports from the US Embassy and Human Rights organizations; they, including closely knit clans will likely not hesitate to kill and torture again. Bidzina Ivanishvili will have to maneuver carefully to prevent his supporters and the masses he seeks to win over from being threatened or killed, while also looking out for his own life (example of the late Badri Patarkatsishvili, another man branded as “oligarch” in the same way, can be recalled here).

Some may consider that Georgia is in a pretty sorry state when its people have to resort to placing their hopes in the hands of a person [Ivanishvili] worth 6.4 billion USD, but with no experience of elective office or any discernible program. This just goes to show the extent to which real democracy and rule of law is absent in Georgia. On the other hand, if someone with so much money can’t change the situation, who on Earth possibly could?

Ivanishvili’s wealth, and the fact that he is not Saakashvili, is his so-called competitive advantage, and among the cards that he can really play. However, Georgians do have the democratic right to elect someone for these reasons alone, if they so choose, but if the international community had accepted the democratic will of the Georgian people during the days of President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, the first democratically elected president, who alienated everyone except the voters by doing what he told the voters he would do, we would not be facing the present problem.

OK for Government Witnesses to Lie to Grand Jury: Supreme Court

In addition to ruling 5-4 this week to allow prison strip searches for minor offenses, they now have ruled that government witnesses -- informants -- can lie to Grand Juries and, in so doing, will be immune from civil lawsuits by the wrongfully accused.

A teenager has been arrested for allegedly making comments on Facebook about the deaths of six British soldiers in Afghanistan last week.

As I type these words, the question on everyone's mind is whether this international revolution that started in Iceland and has already spread to Egypt and the Middle East will continue to spread across America. At the gas pumps and the supermarket checkout lines, the people speak of rebellion openly, if less furtively with each passing day.

There really is no way to avoid it. The money-addicts have created a world where firing the government is not only the best option; for most of us it is the only option. To not revolt is to condemn our children to lives of starvation and hopeless debt slavery to the Private Central Bankers, Goldman-Sachs, Morgan Stanley, etc. et. al. under a government with a demonstrated history of looting the people to feed the bankers, a government that views our lives as cheap and easily sacrificed for wars of conquest, or to be discarded without complaint to keep Israel happy when it attacks Americans in international waters.

Even now, the US Government prepares to solve its present debt crisis by embezzling the American taxpayer of their retirements by defaulting on the loans made to the US Government by Social Security. They will praise your silent consent as 'patriotism, but is such silence really patriotic? The men who created this nation did not think so!

The tragic reality is that the US Government has already declared war on the people of the United States. Bit by bit our rights are trampled on. Our wealth is confiscated for the benefit of a foreign power. Our homes are confiscated to pay the gambling debts of the bankers. Our emails are read, our phone calls listened to, our computers ransacked, all without warrant or due process. Torture and extrajudicial executions are the new reality of life under this tyranny. Our freedoms are confiscated to so that the government does not have to look with fear upon the people.

Even as our taxes increase, the maintenance of the nation is abandoned by a government intent on enriching a foreign power and fighting that foreign power's wars, along with saving the Wall Street money-junkies from the consequences of their swindles. Worse, to serve their foreign masters, the present government seeks to reduce the people of the united states to mere chattel from whom wealth may be extracted at leisure. Look around at our deteriorated condition and you see the growing effects of a war of conquest against the American people by the present government and financial institutions. The starvation and privations of the American people not only equals that of the nations in revolt; they are in actuality far worse! Americans have far greater reason to fire their government than the Icelanders, Tunisians, or Egyptians!

What Patrick Henry really meant in those final words went beyond mere drama. Patrick Henry declared that he would no longer be a slave, either to King George or to the Bank of England. He would be free, or he would be dead, but either way King George III would no longer own him as a slave, nor the Bank of England enjoy automatic title to the proceeds of his labor, so better for England to quit and save the lives of their soldiers then to waste lives seeking a slave who refused to be a slave.

Tragically, money-addicts never care about the lives of their own soldiers.

So, King George III, in the throes of his money-addiction, and as owned by the Bank of England as the present government is by the Federal Reserve, tried to prove Patrick Henry wrong, which led to the humiliation at Yorktown.

Addicts to other peoples' money know no limits, no morality, no sense of fair play. They are hopelessly trapped by the allure of glittering gold. Like a Magpie, they simply must possess all that sparkles!

Bernie Madoff is the classic example. Co-founder of NASDAQ, with more money than any one man could spend in a lifetime, and he still felt compelled compelled to defraud his investors for another $65 billion. This is mental illness; the money-addiction that grips Wall Street and Washington DC, which symptoms manifest as (in one example) a psychotic compulsion to wear the entire productivity of a worker's life as a decoration on one's wrist. Not content with that, next year it will be the need to wear the the entire productivity of 100 workers' lives as a decoration on one's wrist that will drive the money addicts to greater crimes against the people.

Money addicts do not see their behavior as wrong or evil. Secure in their religious delusions that wealth is the sign of God's favor, they see themselves as heroes and heroines. Lloyd Blankfein, the head of Goldman Sachs, declared he was doing "God's work" at the time we now know Goldman Sachs was looting taxpayer money directly from the US Treasury to their own pockets. In their own minds the money addicts are the good guys; the stars of the world, the rightful inheritors of all of life's blessings. Sadly, history has shown that it is often easier to kill money-junkies than to cure their addiction, let alone get them to change their minds about themselves and to acknowledge their problem and its high social costs.

So, yes, a revolution in the streets of America is now an inevitability, albeit a revolution to be fought not with guns and bombs, but with keyboards and the truth. The money-addicts in Wall Street and DC have created a situation in which revolution is unavoidable, and already we see the hired things of the bankers cracking the heads of those people who dare to proclaim their refusal to pay debts not of their own making.

And as has been the case in Egypt, the US military, openly abused on their mortgages by J. P. Morgan, stand with the people. So do many police officers whose pension funds were destroyed by the mortgage-backed securities fraud.

The message to those who would rebuild their failed financial palaces on the backs of the people is thus a simple one. We shall not bail you out ever again. Yes, you may murder those who refuse to live on less so that you may have more, but it shall not change the final outcome. Living or dead, we are your slaves no longer.

That was Patrick Henry's message all those years ago, and it is still true today.
