Officials: Sorority obsession seen in anthrax case

The top suspect in the 2001 anthrax attacks was obsessed with a sorority that sat less than 100 yards away from a New Jersey mailbox where the toxin-laced letters were sent, authorities said Monday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But if you read further in, they admit that they cannot place Ivins in Princeton on the day the anthrax letters were actually mailed.

The smear goes on, with the usual anonymous sources, the "therepist" who actually is only a substance abuse counselor (with a history of DUIs), and gag orders on all the actual witnesses.

A lesson in propaganda

Webmaster's Commentary:

Everything in this article is designed to portray Iran as the bad guy, even the carefully chosen photo of their spokesman caught in a smirk.

To read this article, you would think Iran was on the verge of nuking the rest of the world. That is, of course, the intention.

But the hard facts remain...

1. Iran, which like the US has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, has a legal right to build nuclear power stations and to construct the fuel rods for those power stations.

2. Nobody has produced any evidence that Iran is doing anything else with its nuclear research than building power stations. All 16 of the United States Intelligence Agencies are unanimous in concluding that Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program and has not had one going back to at least 2003.

3. George Bush has decided to ignore all 16 US Intelligence agencies and rely on Israel for all intelligence regarding Iran's plans. This despite ...

4. Israel made the same accusations against Iraq, then bombed the power station at Osirik claiming it concealed a clandestine weapons factory. An examination of the ruins following the US invasion of Iraq failed to produce any evidence to support Israel's claims.

5. Israel, through its spy operation inside the Pentagon provided much of the now-discredited claims that Saddam had nuclear and biological weapons in the run up to the invasion in 2003.

6. Of all the nations in the Middle East, only one nation is known to have a (formerly) clandestine weapons factory under a supposedly peaceful reactor and that is Israel itself.

What Iran has actually said is that they anticipate a US attack on Iran since Iran (like Iraq and Afghanistan) does not actually have nuclear weapons and is therefore an easy target. In response to such an unprovoked attack, Iran will strike back where it can, closing off the flow of oil to the rest of the world.

If I were Iran, watching Israel whip the US into a pit-bull frenzy to send after my people, I would probably do the same.

Washington Post Scrubs Own Story Questioning Case Against 'Anthrax Killer'

After a Friday story from Washington Post raised series questions about the ability of Bruce Ivins to have carried out the anthrax attacks -- he reportedly "had no access to dry, powdered anthrax," according to experts quoted in their report -- the paper inexplicably spiked their article, without explanation or notice, and replaced it with a wholly different story. Yet, on Sunday, the paper revived the same troubling questions. What the hell is going on here?

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is an online battle between truth and lies.

The last one to stand back up, wins.

When Extremists Attack

I have now been called antisemitic and intellectually unstable and a whole bunch of other silly things by the folks over at the Commentary blog. They want Time Magazine to fire or silence me. This is happening because I said something that is palpably true, but unspoken in polite society: There is a small group of Jewish neoconservatives who unsuccessfully tried to get Benjamin Netanyahu to attack Saddam Hussein in the 1990s, and then successfully helped provide the intellectual rationale for George Bush to do it in 2003.

'Anti-Semitic' satire divides liberal Paris

The young man, Siné wrote without a shred of evidence, was planning to convert to Judaism before marrying Jessica Sebaoun-Darty, the Jewish heiress of a huge electronics chain. 'He'll go a long way in life, this lad!' Siné commented. The piece was published without controversy - until several days later, when a radio presenter referred to it as anti-Semitic. The families of those concerned were said to be 'sickened'.

Anthrax suspect would have gotten vaccine royalties

Bruce E. Ivins, the government biodefense scientist linked to the deadly anthrax mailings of 2001, stood to gain financially from massive federal spending in the fear-filled aftermath of those killings, the Los Angeles Times has learned.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a classic propaganda smear. If you read the article all the way through, you find out that the deal fell apart. Nor are Ivin's co-inventors, the ones who would actually now be GETTING the money from the deal, named!

The press is really trying to hard sell this guy as the villain, and this article illustrates how desperate they are to do it.

Vital unresolved anthrax questions and ABC News

During the last week of October, 2001, ABC News, led by Brian Ross, continuously trumpeted the claim as their top news story that government tests conducted on the anthrax -- tests conducted at Ft. Detrick -- revealed that the anthrax sent to Daschele contained the chemical additive known as bentonite.

Webmaster's Commentary:

They lied. Pure, plain, no-kidding, LIED!

Newspapers in a Crisis: Switch to the Web or Perish, says Former NY Post Editor

More bad news for newspapers this week: The New York Times Co. reported disappointing second-quarter earnings on Wednesday, with profits down 82% and the stock at roughly half its price from a year ago. That's just the start:

* Overall newspaper circulation is down.
* Thousands of journalists have lost their jobs.
* Newspaper control of local online ads is down nearly 9% from 2006.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sure, now that we bloggers proved online news can work, and corporate media decides they'll just leap right in and take over!
Except that it isn't the method that is drawing readers here, it's the content.
Who told you Saddam had 'nookuluar' bombs? ABCNNBBCBS
Who told you it was all a war-starting hoax? The blogs!
The corporate media will fare no better here in the online world unless and until they start giving the American people the FACTS about what is going on in their government.

Newsweek Magazine Covers Up McCain’s Mob Ties

Although Newsweek said Mrs. McCain’s family “is deeply rooted in Arizona,” and that her late father, Jim Hensley, “was one of the most prominent men in the state,” who was “a World War II bombardier . . . shot down over the English channel,”—in other words, a war hero just like McCain—Newsweek did not even hint of the racketeering and corruption (and murder) associated with Hensley and his patrons in his rise to power.

Gallup's "Likely Voters" Poll: A Snapshot Or A Hypothesis?

As the Huffington Post reported Monday, the Gallup/USA Today poll's results among "likely voters" raised more questions than they answered. By showing a lead for McCain that contradicted Gallup's own independent tracking results, the poll prompted Emory University political scientist Alan Abramowitz to ask how Gallup and USA Today selected the "likely voters" who purportedly now favor the Arizona Republican.

Who Funds the Progressive Media?

The antidemocratic nature of liberal foundations is epitomized by the long history of collaboration (that formerly existed) between the largest major liberal foundations (like the Ford Foundation) and the US Central Intelligence Agency. Moreover, recent research has demonstrated the key leadership role that liberal foundations played in developing the means by which powerful elites could manufacture public (and elite) consent.

Mosley wins court case over orgy

World motorsport boss Max Mosley has won a legal action against a Sunday newspaper over claims an orgy he took part in had Nazi overtones.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Normally I would not cover this kind of crap. What two (or in this case six) people do in the privacy of their own home is not news, because it does not affect our everyday lives.

The lesson here is that Rupert Murdoch, in trying to MAKE it news (so as to avoid reporting on those things that really do affect our everyday lives) got well and truly burned.

As he should have.

New York Times to raise newsstand price to $1.50

Webmaster's Commentary:

The New York Times just does not get it! Their revenues and ad rates are in decline because nobody likes a liar, and the New York Times stood up to be counted with every other media outlet which helped the US Government lie this nation into a war of conquest.
