Avengers: Age of Ultron – Gods of the Rising Technocratic Aeon

Joss Whedon’s follow-up to The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, is setting new box office records for Marvel, and has roughly the same degree of critical response as the first. A few days ago, I analyzed the first in anticipation for the follow-up that premiered in the U.S. this weekend, noting the A.I. takeover plot, and the sequel was even more esoterically themed and blatant in its presentation. Hollywood is making it difficult for me not to write the same A.I. analysis over and over, but some new ground is tread here to investigate in the midst of the same pattern we’ve been witnessing of late, the extinction of man through mass depopulation and his subjugation and/or replacement with an A.I. control grid.

Iowa bird flu outbreak prompts governor to declare state of emergency

Iowa governor Terry Branstad declared a state of emergency on Friday due to a rapidly expanding avian flu outbreak, soon after state agriculture officials announced four new poultry farms had initially tested positive for the virus. Iowa, the top egg-producing state in the United States, is the third state to declare a state of emergency because of the viral outbreak, which either has led or will lead to the extermination of up to 21m chickens and turkeys nationwide.

Algorithmic guilt: using secret algorithms to kick people off welfare

A wrenching and beautifully argued essay by Virginia Eubanks describes the inevitable consequences of letting secret, unaccountable algorithms decide who is eligible for welfare. The essay is part of New America's What Drives Innovation Around the Country conference, and it describes the drive to outsource management of critical state services to private firms that control costs by using proprietary, secret algorithms to ascribe suspicion and guilt to members of the public.

Silver Turns Bacteria Into Deadly Zombies

The zombie apocalypse may be more than just a horror story for some bacteria. New research shows that when exposed to a microbe-slaying silver solution, the germs can “go zombie,” wiping out their living compatriots even after death. The results may explain silver's long-lasting antibacterial power and could improve the performance of medical products that keep us safe from harmful pathogens.

Boeing 787 software bug can shut down planes' generators IN FLIGHT

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a new airworthiness directive (PDF) for Boeing's 787 because a software bug shuts down the plane's electricity generators every 248 days.

“We have been advised by Boeing of an issue identified during laboratory testing,” the directive says. That issue sees “The software counter internal to the generator control units (GCUs) will overflow after 248 days of continuous power, causing that GCU to go into failsafe mode.”

When the GCU is in failsafe mode it isn't making any power. That'll be bad news if all four of the GCUs aboard a 787 were powered up at the same time, because all will then shut down, “resulting in a loss of all AC electrical power regardless of flight phase.”

Oil Prices Up, Gasoline Prices Up

“A rebound in crude oil prices has fueled up gasoline prices in the last week across the United States, with even bigger spikes in the West Coast, where refinery problems have returned. The national average stands at a four month high, though for this date prices remain at their lowest since 2009. Late last week, West Texas Intermediate crude oil stood near $58 a barrel, the highest since December 15, 2014. That price stands some $10 a barrel higher than a month ago, and has been a key contributor to the rise in gasoline prices that many states are witnessing. Refinery issues along the West Coast have added insult to injury for Californians, where prices are up by 25 cents per gallon just in the last week in some areas.”

British Doctors Now Asking Elderly If They’re Ready to Die

Ever since the Affordable Care Act was passed, Americans have been asking themselves if our healthcare will ever resemble the UK’s socialized medical system. Some have greeted it with praise, while others have been concerned that our healthcare could turn to death panels to cut costs. Now the UK’s National Health Service has given us another unfortunate condition to look forward to. They recently told all doctors to ask every patient over 75 if they would like to establish a “do not resuscitate” order for future emergencies. In some cases, the doctors are ordering their nurses to cold-call every elderly patient, and everyone with a long-term condition, to see if they have “thought about resuscitation.”

Public School “Child Nutrition Supervisor” Served Students Reeking, Six-Year-Old Pork

(Nutritional Anarchy) Stories continually coming out of public schools illustrate time and again that our school lunches are “bad,” but this story makes Michelle Obama’s school lunch program look like a fancy dinner at a four-star restaurant.

After a determination made by someone given the title “Child Nutrition Supervisor” and the school’s cafeteria managers who performed “tests,” a decision was made to serve school children six-year-old pork in Hawkins County, Tennessee.

First of all… if you have to perform tests before you serve something obviously questionable enough to warrant tests to hundreds of trusting, innocent children…

Here’s an actual quote about the meat from local news outlet WBIR:

“The actual woman making a stink about it said it smelled so bad they made gravy to put over the meat to give it a smell and give it a better taste,” said [Hawkins County Commissioner Michael] Herrell.

Utility-issued 'smart' meters explode on 5,000 homes after truck rams utility pole

Thousands of California residents were left without power recently after their so-called "smart" meters exploded due to an unexpected power surge. According to CBS Sacramento, more than 5,000 homes in the Stockton area were left with blackened, charred, and completely destroyed smart meters after a dump truck crashed into a nearby utility pole, pulling the static line down onto the distribution line.

When the two lines intersect, stated PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers to the media, the resultant surge causes a major overload to the system. And when smart meters are involved, this overload can cause the meters themselves to pop and literally blow up, potentially causing a fire or other property damage not typically caused by traditional analog meters.

F-35 Engines From United Technologies Called Unreliable

F-35 engines from United Technologies Corp. are proving so unreliable that U.S. plans to increase production of the fighter jet may be slowed, according to congressional auditors.

Data from flight tests evaluated by the Government Accountability Office show the reliability of engines from the company’s Pratt & Whitney unit is “very poor (less than half of what it should be) and has limited” progress for the F-35, the costliest U.S. weapons system, the watchdog agency said in a report sent to lawmakers this month.

The GAO cited the need to make design changes to the engines and then retrofit planes already built, along with continuing flaws in the plane’s software, in a report that warned the Defense Department’s “procurement plan may not be affordable.” The military plans to spend $391.1 billion for a fleet of 2,443 planes from prime contractor Lockheed Martin Corp.

Figures Don’t Lie, But Liars Figure — Medically Speaking

By Catherine J. Frompovich

From very early on in life, everyone learns how important math is, especially that one and one equal two, not three or even two-and-a-half! However, when it comes to statistics and other mathematical markers for business, industry, and even science, numbers sometimes belie the reality of the facts, depending upon who wants to prove what, and to whom.

Recently, I’ve been thinking about the cost of healthcare—or is it sickness care—in the United States, and how it’s been escalating despite the purported advances in medical science and even the outlandish contention that vaccines can help to reduce sickness and its costs by improving, what’s euphemistically called, ‘herd immunity’. Let’s get one thing accurate: I don’t consider myself—or any person—to be a member of any animal herd. I’m a human being...

Toyota's killer firmware: Bad design and its consequences

Embedded software used to be low-level code we'd bang together using C or assembler. These days, even a relatively straightforward, albeit critical, task like throttle control is likely to use a sophisticated RTOS and tens of thousands of lines of code.

With all this sophistication, standards and practices for design, coding, and testing become paramount – especially when the function involved is safety-critical. Failure is not an option. It is something to be contained and benign.

So what happens when an automaker decides to wing it and play by their own rules? To disregard the rigorous standards, best practices, and checks and balances required of such software (and hardware) design? People are killed, reputations ruined, and billions of dollars are paid out. That's what happens. Here's the story of some software that arguably never should have been.

Company breaks open Apple Watch to discover what it says is 'planned obsolescence'

“The S1 SiP [internal system in package] is encased in resin, and is further held in place by a mess of glue and soldered ribbon connectors. In short, basic component replacements look nearly impossible.”

The s1SiP is custom-designed Apple technology that integrates a number of subsystems like the chip into one package. It is encased in resin to increase its durability.

Therefore, according to iFixit, the Apple Watch has intentional obsolescence built into it as it will become technologically redundant as processors become faster and apps are supported only by the newest models.

This tactic is known as 'planned obsolescence' and has been an accusation levelled at Apple for a number of years.

Hello Mr. King,

Is it time to put a woman’s face on the $20 bill?

It is no coincidence that the target of this effort is Andrew Jackson. Really, the last President to fight the private central bankers centered in the City of London, UK, and win. It is also no coincidence that Jackson was the target of a unsuccessful assassination attempt in the wake of his battles with the private central banks. The two are connected.

In fact, it is my opinion, the assassinations of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and even Kennedy are linked, in part, to their attitudes towards the private central bank that really has been running the world since the Battle of Waterloo: their opinion that the money ownership of the United States should be vested in the people and the states per the US Constitution.

False economy - 98% of cars can't match their mpg claims

If you bought a car advertised as offering fuel economy of 148 miles-per-gallon, but it then failed to deliver more than 67mpg – less than half – you’d be pretty disappointed. You’d also be spending a whopping £459 more a year on fuel than you expected.

Astonishingly, that’s exactly the situation you could be in if you bought a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – a plug-in hybrid that is marketed on the strength of its efficiency.

But Mitsubishi’s SUV is far from the only car that fails to reach its official fuel economy figure – in fact, Which? testing has found that 98% of the 200 cars we assessed over the past two years couldn’t match or beat their mpg claims, with all but three missing their official figures.

US Journalist Dispel Myths About The "Dangerous For Foreigners" Russia

I can't number how often I've heard that notice in the 14 months since I chose to move to Moscow from Berlin. It's as though I were entering a combat area.

In reasonableness, those 14 months have seen a series of disastrous occasions that have left a lot of Russia changed: the addition of Crimea; war in eastern Ukraine; the weakening of relations with the West; authorizes; President Vladimir V. Putin's clampdown on political resistance, media and expressions of the human experience; and the breakdown of the ruble and log jam of the Russian economy.

We Can’t Let John Deere Destroy the Very Idea of Ownership

IT’S OFFICIAL: JOHN Deere and General Motors want to eviscerate the notion of ownership. Sure, we pay for their vehicles. But we don’t own them. Not according to their corporate lawyers, anyway.

In a particularly spectacular display of corporate delusion, John Deere—the world’s largest agricultural machinery maker —told the Copyright Office that farmers don’t own their tractors. Because computer code snakes through the DNA of modern tractors, farmers receive “an implied license for the life of the vehicle to operate the vehicle.”

It’s John Deere’s tractor, folks. You’re just driving it.

Why You Shouldn’t Be a Part of the 90% Of Americans Who Still Use Microwaves

They’re fast, convenient, and easy to use. Manufacturers even produce packaged foods specifically for their use. What I’m referring to are of course, microwave ovens, the household appliance that is still regularly used as a part of meal preparation and re-heating in approximately 90% of American homes.

I say “still” in the previous statement because the dangers associated with microwave use have been documented for quite some time, dangers that I will once again outline in this article. Ultimately, arguments can always be made for the use of anything harmful if done in moderation, but given the hectic nature of most of our lives, the convenience the device offers makes little to moderate use seem very unlikely to be practiced.

Thieves using a $17 power amplifier to break into cars with remote keyless systems

Cars with keyless entry systems are capable of searching for a wireless key fob that is within a couple feet of the vehicle, but car thieves can use a $17 "power amplifier" to boost the key searching capabilities, sometimes up to around 100 meters, and pull off a high-tech car break-in.

There had been a rash of mysterious car break-ins near his Los Angeles address, including three break-ins to his own car; all cars involved had remote keyless systems that come with a wireless key fob which is used to unlock the doors and start the engine instead of using a physical key.

US Farmers Going Out of Business Due to GM Crop Contamination

If you’re a farmer who wants to grow any crops that aren’t owned by the biotech industry, you had better be ready to burn some money. At least this is what organic farmers are saying, who are trying to grow organic crops but can’t due to pollen drift and cross-pollination. That’s right: GMO crops are contaminating the organic crops we’re fighting so hard to keep.

The news is out that demand for organic food is one the rise – it’s expected to be a $35 million dollar industry soon, and keep exploding from there. The challenge that organic farmers face; however, and one that the US FDA refuses to address, is that even in the highly subsidized markets of corn and soy growing, Big Biotech has the upper hand.

Paetec aka Windstream Communications Paetec knowingly provides VioP Services to scammers allowing them to harrass and rip off people - they don't respond to complaints, Internet

Paetec Communications owned now by Windstream Communications provides VoiP phone services. They sell these services to scammers who use their VoiP lines to call consumers in violation of the national do not call list. These scammers attempt to BS consumers out of credit card, bank account, and SSN info. The scammers use a variety of ruses such as a "free alarm sign in your yard and free alarm system", etc.

While I've not been taken in by any of these scammers - my complaint is that Paetec is aware these companies are committing fraud and violations of Federal law and they do not respond to any complaints made to them about the fact their customers are doing this. They are providing the means for theft and they are aware of it and yet they choose to do nothing. Case in point a phone # 718-732-1022 which is owned by Paetec but being used by a bunch of scammers overseas. Paetec has been informed of this and has chosen to take no action.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We have been getting calls from a Paetec number this morning. Nothing but beeping on the other end. We are on the National Do Not Call List but the scammers ignore that. And as usual the US Government cannot be bothered finding actual criminals.

Ukraine a Vector for GMO Poison’s Spread Through EU

Ulson Gunnar
Activist Post

When the Washington Post chooses to pen an insulting, condescending editorial targeting entire nations speaking up against Western impropriety, one can just as well assume the precise opposite of whatever narrative the Post is trying to push forward is true.

Regarding American biotech companies and their attempts to infest the planet with genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and in particular their attempts to corrupt the whole of Europe with their unwanted poison through a backdoor (Ukraine), has prompted Russia to speak up for their Eastern European neighbor. Up until the armed coup in 2013-2014, also known as the “Euromaidan,” Ukraine had adamantly rejected GMOs.

With an obedient client regime now installed in Kiev, a series of political, economic and military decisions have been made that have more or less extinguished Ukraine as a sovereign nation state...

Our Nation Depends on Restoring Product Liability

At the height of its power, ancient Rome created many new technologies which allowed it to become the supreme power over their portion of the world. These accomplishments included the invention of concrete, improved metallurgy, medicine, hygiene, plumbing, and sewage. As each of these were developed, Rome came to be dependent on them. As Rome went into decline, their ability to maintain their technologies started to fade. Aqueducts stopped delivering water. Public health failed. Metal rusted. Concrete cracked. Eventually the failure of those systems on which Rome was dependent hastened its eventual fall.

Britain Will Still Be In Deficit In 2020

In blow to George Osborne, International Monetary Fund says Britain will still be in deficit in 2020

Who ever is elected on 7 May, his or her goverment will fail to balance the books before the end of the decade, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)

The organisation said "uncertainties" surrounding next month's general election implied that austerity would be less severe than currently forecast.

In a blow to Tory plans to achieve an overall budget surplus by 2018-19, IMF forecasts showed the UK would still be running a deficit of around 0.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2020 - or around £7bn under implied spending plans - instead of a surplus of the same amount.

Obama Administration Plotting Adult Vaccination Mandates

In collaboration with Big Business and special interests, the Obama administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is plotting a new program to track Americans’ vaccination records, wage a massive propaganda campaign to “encourage” more inoculations, and foist more controversial vaccines on adults against their will. Federal bureaucrats and crony capitalists set to profit from the proposal claim the goal is to improve “public health,” and establishment media outlets have largely parroted that line so far. However, critics of the unconstitutional scheme, formally dubbed the “National Adult Immunization Plan” (NAIP), say the ultimate goal is to forcibly vaccinate all Americans and move toward a radical new healthcare paradigm in which medical “treatment” is delivered at gunpoint.

Fracking Pollutes California Water While Individuals Suffer

Billions of gallons contaminated

As California lawmakers decide if resident ‘water wasters’ should face jail time as a drought strikes the state, water agencies are busy working on higher rates and fees to penalize individual residents. This is happening while the act of hydraulic fracturing is polluting massive amounts of water in the state. As the main facilitator in the pollution of California’s two biggest fresh water aquifers, the real question is: “who will report California Governor Jerry Brown?”

Directly, because of Governor Brown, fracking wastewater has been allowed to pollute key aquifers that contain high-quality water protected under the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act. This is a federal act that appears to be vestigial showing little repercussions to some of Governor Brown’s biggest campaign donors; big oil and natural gas interests.

How Robots & Algorithms Are Taking Over

In September 2013, about a year before Nicholas Carr published The Glass Cage: Automation and Us, his chastening meditation on the human future, a pair of Oxford researchers issued a report predicting that nearly half of all jobs in the United States could be lost to machines within the next twenty years. The researchers, Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael Osborne, looked at seven hundred kinds of work and found that of those occupations, among the most susceptible to automation were loan officers, receptionists, paralegals, store clerks, taxi drivers, and security guards. Even computer programmers, the people writing the algorithms that are taking on these tasks, will not be immune. By Frey and Osborne’s calculations, there is about a 50 percent chance that programming, too, will be outsourced to machines within the next two decades.

The U.S. Congress Is “Out to Lunch” About Vaccine Science—Here’s Proof

Catherine J. Frompovich
Activist Post

If ever there were a body of numbskulls taking in the “cool aid” of corporate largess, lobbyists and consensus science, the U.S. Congress, apparently, fits that bill when it comes to the hard-core facts regarding toxic ingredients in vaccines along with the so-called ‘science of vaccines’ and the vested-interest roles they have played in modern life.

Nothing expresses that more than the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 (42 U.S.C. §§ 300aa-1 to 300aa-34), which has become more of a nightmare, especially for anyone who’s been damaged by vaccines. Congress apparently went ‘off the rails’ on that one; never has bothered to investigate all the damage vaccines are causing—see the VAERS reporting system—and now, the current members of the U.S. House of Representatives issued a House Resolution—H.Res.117—that readers need to know about...

Utility Companies Sending Possible Carcinogens into People’s Homes

by Catherine J. Frompovich

Pennsylvania Smart Meter Awareness (PASMA) just issued a second Press Release, in as many days, regarding astounding information from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency on Research for Cancer (IARC) regarding the radiofrequency radiation that AMI Smart Meters (SMs) emit. Guess what? Those Radioelectromagnetic Fields (RFs) coming off SMs are classified as “possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B).” Holy cow! Who knew? Did you?

Anyone who’s recently received a new electric or water meter better check to see if it’s an AMI digital SM because, if it is, you are getting RF Group/class 2B possible carcinogens being transmitted into your homes minute-by-minute!...

4 Ways Big Pharma Continues to Lose Credibility

When you visit the websites for leading pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and Novartis, you’ll find mission statements that will feed you with inspiring goals such as “improve health and well-being,” “provide access to safe, effective and affordable medicines,” and “to prevent and cure diseases, to ease suffering and to enhance the quality of life.”

Who still believes this? Let’s keep it straight: major pharmaceutical companies are in the business of dealing drugs and making money. Here’s some food for thought that might make you question the credibility of pharmaceutical companies.

California Water Authorities Using Smart Meter Data as Evidence to Impose Fines

Essentially, consumption of utilities in your home is being big brother tracked and traced at all times on the smart grid.

Sure, it was sold to everyone as a “smart” solution for keeping consumption in check, that it would decrease utility bills because people could use it to check out how much they use and find smart ways to cut down. (How many people are really even doing that, by the way?)

Not only is this going to be used to serve up “peak pricing” models against the population — to price electricity and water higher during times of higher consumption by the population — it’s also going to be used to allow the people to tattle on themselves via their data, a set up that will come with heavy financial consequences.

As we can see happening now in California during its historic drought, smart meters are also being used by authorities to seek people out and impose fines.

Authentic Journalism that Challenges Empire and Its Centers of Power

Exposing Lies of the Empire is a monumental work.

Some years back, I was approached to come up with a story that I’d really like to cover. There were many, but right away I was drawn to a story whose angle was completely marginalized in any media I had checked. I was interested to go to Zimbabwe and get a genuine impression from Zimbabweans of how they view the direction of their country under the government of Robert Mugabe. How they viewed the redistribution of land within the country.

In the case of theft, when the stolen property is recovered, the usually accepted, and rightful, custom is that the property be returned to its rightful owner(s).

In 2008 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Legislative body passed, and then-Governor Ed Rendell signed into Pennsylvania Law – PA HB2200, which became Act 129 of 2008.
