THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"I am strongly in favor of using poisoned gas against uncivilized tribes. The moral effect should be good...and it would spread a lively terror.... "-- Winston Churchill commenting on the British use of poison gas against the Iraqis after World War I

Why Obama-McCain race deserves 'historic' label

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama often tells voters that the 2008 election is "a defining moment in history." Candidates usually think their particular race is historic, but in this case, it actually is.

Voters themselves feel they are standing at a watershed moment, whether Democrat, Republican or the dwindling conflicted few still undecided two days before the end of a two-year campaign. Half say they are scared of what might happen should the wrong man win.

Historic because

chillyphantom

Historic because neither one is the right choice for Americans. You are being presented with the choice of the devil behind door number 1 or the devil behind door number 2.

You get a pretty good glimpse of the devil behind door number one becasue he wears it all on his shirt sleeves.

You can't really tell how bad the devil behind door number two is because he is so slick and polished. He just looks like the obvious choice.

This event is historic because no matter what America does, it won't benefit them in the way they expect it. If the 11th Congress looks like a turncoat party, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Your options aren't as good as they appear.

This event is historic because what follows, eventually, will be an all out American civil war.
