THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

" One in 10 chance perhaps, but save Chile! ... not concerned with risks involved ... $10,000,000 available, more if necessary ... make the economy scream."-- CIA Director Richard Helms, discussing plan to destabilize government of Chile under democractically-elected President Salvador Allende

US: Russia must return any US equipment

The White House on Tuesday demanded that Moscow return any US equipment its forces seized in Georgia, amid reports Russian troops grabbed some US military vehicles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, so let me get this straight. The US arms Georgia, which attacks Russia, loses the equipment, and the US expects Russia to hand it all back?

I understand the captured equipment is in almost-new condition ("never fired and only dropped once") but asking the Russians to return it is the height of Chutzpah!

The Bush administration feels

The Bush administration feels humiliated, embarrassed and let down by the stumblebum performance of its carefully nurtured cat's paw, Georgia.

Years of cultivation ending in a ignominious rout.

They are so non plussed about it they are left with the verbal equivalent of footstamping when they demand the return of what is clearly legitimate spoils of war.

One further consequence will be the subtle disenchantment with Israel whose own agenda and not America's was being served, viz; determining Russia's military effectiveness in the event of a USrael attack on Iran. Now no one is in any doubt.

This is reminiscent to when China captured one of our spy planes and spent their time dissecting it before giving it back to the US.
