US, British Officials Caution Afghan Vote Delay ‘Could Help al-Qaeda’

Top officials from both the US and British government cautioned against what is shaping up to be a long term dispute over last month’s Afghan presidential election, with US envoy Richard Holbrooke saying that al-Qaeda would be a beneficiary of any delays in issuing the results.

You don't know whether to laugh or cry at such statements.

This "election" (read: "installation of the thug they know", courtesy of the US and NATO), was an absolute sham, a fraud writ large, and a colossal disservice to the people of Afghanistan.

But of course, a truly free and fair election probably would not have returned Karzai to power, and the US and NATO weren't about to see that happen.
