THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"I am strongly in favor of using poisoned gas against uncivilized tribes. The moral effect should be good...and it would spread a lively terror.... "-- Winston Churchill commenting on the British use of poison gas against the Iraqis after World War I

New U.S. intelligence report warns 'victory' not certain in Iraq

A nearly completed high-level U.S. intelligence analysis warns that unresolved ethnic and sectarian tensions in Iraq could unleash a new wave of violence, potentially reversing the major security and political gains achieved over the last year.

The findings seem to cast doubts on McCain's frequent assertions that the United States is "on a path to victory" in Iraq by underscoring the deep uncertainties of the situation despite the 30,000-strong U.S. troop surge for which he was the leading congressional advocate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So for all the blood spilled and money spent on this mother of all military misadventures, things could still go south in a heartbeat?

Coupled with Al Maliki's newly aggressive posture on getting Americans out of Iraq as soon as possible and the reality that it doesn't look like US companies are going to get much of Iraq's oil, one has to ask: was this war war worth the terrible cost?

These wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have nearly bankrupted this country. This administration is trillions of dollars in debt, and has no way to make it back to any degree of solvency.
