AMSTERDAM, (PIC)-- The Netherlands has cancelled a tour of its country by an Israeli delegation including representatives of Israeli settlements in the West Bank set to take place next month.
The tour was designed to educate Israelis on local governance in the Netherlands and exchange intelligence.
The Dutch foreign ministry decided to cancel the visit after learning that council heads of some Israeli settlements in the West Bank would participate.
The Netherlands, like the European Union, has publicly rejected Israeli settlement activity in the "Palestinian territories".
Israeli authorities were outraged by the Netherlands’ decision, claiming that the move is a step into domestic affairs.
Israeli MP Aryeh Eldad said Netherlands authorities in their decision surrendered to the increasing Muslim minority.
