Truth needs no law to support it. Truth is self-evident to all. Truth withstands re-examination. Truth survives questions. Throughout history, from Galileo to Zundel, only lies and liars have resorted to the courts to enforce adherence to dogma." -- Michael Rivero
Muqtada al-Sadr is NOT ASKING for ANYTHING unreasonable.
I'm American, secular christian and I TOO believe that Iraq and all it's resources, must be returned BACK TO ALL IRAQIS.
And all Iraqis must show that they will reconstruct Iraq TOGETHER regardless of whether they are Sunni,Shia,Christian,Kurdish etc etc.
Nobody can take their faith away, whatever it may be,they have to show that NO-ONE,including our American Government can take away their NATIONAL UNIFIED IDENTITY.
ALL American TROOPS/CONTRACTORS out of Iraq, and let's just go back as civilians, invited as friends,to help rebuild and repair as a way of apology for allowing Bush and his crooks, and our weak-arsed,lily-livered CONGRESS, to use the USA as a launching pad for their ILLEGAL occupation of Iraq!
Muqtada al-Sadr is only ECHOING what MILLIONS of ordinary Americans have already wanted for five years ALREADY.....OUT!
Although I agree with the unity part of your comment, the American people own the Iraqi people more than just a troop withdrawal.
The American people had more than enough chances to withdraw troops and they did not. Yes, they elected the 111th Congress on a promise to do so. And it was made very clear to the people that the promise, like the original excuses for the war, was nothing but a lie.
The American people could have prevented much of the damage that was done if they had behaved like responsible human beings rather than as lifeless slugs.
The American people should do what any responsible person would do. They should support the rebuilding effort in EVERY way. After all, the American people are to blame for what they allowed their terrorist government to do.
Yes Mike, spot on as ever. But it's not an American crowd. After the SHIT that has gone down in front of nearly 300 million average Joe Americans ... why?
Americans will never be able to bring themselves to this sort of patriotism. Just look at the most recent failure to produce a protest on Wall Street.
Americans would rather just "elect" someone else to represent them so they can busy themselves reading about Michael Jackson's latest {fill in the blank}, Lindsay Lohan's new drug and alcohol escapade, Paris Hilton's new cry-baby antics or even wager on important things like Survivor third time reruns. After all, why should Americans bother about what might affect their lives. They have "freedom".
Americans are such a sorry lot of people compared to their forefathers and, yes, foremothers.
Americans (with a very few VERY notable exceptions) are now getting exactly what they deserve for sitting back and doing absolutely nothing.
True American patriotism is all but dead.
Americans could learn a lot from this one picture. These are people with NOTHING to lose. They give a damn.
