THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

" One in 10 chance perhaps, but save Chile! ... not concerned with risks involved ... $10,000,000 available, more if necessary ... make the economy scream."-- CIA Director Richard Helms, discussing plan to destabilize government of Chile under democractically-elected President Salvador Allende

Mervyns plans liquidation

The Hayward retailer said Friday that it would close its remaining 149 locations. The stores will remain open through the holiday season with liquidation sales. Mervyns previously planned to close 26 underperforming locations.

The 59-year old chain, with a California-heavy store base, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of July, but proved unable to gain any traction on its turnaround efforts.

This has nothing to do with

This has nothing to do with the current economic crisis. Target bought Mervyn's in 2004 and "let" them go down as part of their crappy business model. Target did the same thing to a California company name "Gemco' that was a great store and serious competition for Target. This is old style cut-throat competition that needs to die along with the dow & wall street. Have you noticed you can go to any mall in the country and shop at only the same goddamn stores! Target sucks worse than Walmart.

If you feel that way about Target

Then take your best shot at the target they provided to you the customer.

Tell just two friends that you are boycotting Target. Get them to do likewise. Support their competitors even if they are a bit more expensive - especially if they are locally based, family owned and long term community service. That's how we deal with the Home De(s)pot here. And it is working!

Shut Target down. Run them out of town.

Customers have power. They only need to choose to use it. The customers decide who stays in business and who leaves town.
