In a statement of claim filed in court on Sept. 29, Holly McDermott says she suffered multiple injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder in the alleged Jan. 16, 2009, incident at a McDonald's restaurant at 10305 80 Ave.
McDermott claims that after going to the fast food outlet for coffee at about 10:45 a.m., she went to use the ladies' washroom. Then, as she entered one of the toilet cubicles, "the door came off its hinges and fell on top of her."
As a result of allegedly being hit by the toilet stall door, McDermott claims she suffered injuries to her head, neck, upper back, left shoulder, arm and forearm, left leg, chest, left hand, index finger and right foot.
As well, she claims four of her ribs were fractured and she developed post-traumatic stress disorder.
Only the government could pull off a claim like this and win.
