Latest US Drone Strike in North Waziristan Kills at Least 14

Pakistan’s military has confirmed that at about 5:30 AM this morning a US drone struck a home and a former government school near the North Waziristan town of Miramshah. The strike killed at least 14 people and injured 12 others.

Residents said the shuttered school had been occupied by militants but the home reportedly belonged to local tribesman named Yousaf Khan Wazir, who had no apparent ties to the militants. Among those killed in the strike were Wazir and at least six women and children.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US military understands full well that these kinds of strikes guarantee two things: the killing of more innocent civilians, and the radicalizing those left standing even further from the current Pakistani government.

So one has to wonder: what, precisely, is the outcome the US and NATO hope to accomplish with these strikes? The drones cannot discriminate between the Pakistani Taliban, and babies sleeping in their cribs before they get blown to bits.

Can it be possible that the US and NATO are looking for yet another country to invade and occupy militarily to distract from the abysmal failures in Iraq and Afghanistan?

They certainly do need a distraction right now.

Unfortunately, the increase of US/NATO activity against Pakistan may well be it.
