THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"Imperialism today is taking place in the context of...the 'universalization' of capitalism. It is not now primarily a matter of territorial conquest or direct military or colonial control. It is not now a matter of capitalist powers invading non-capitalist powers in order to bleed them dry directly and by brute force. Now it is more a matter of ensuring that the forces of the capitalist market prevail in every corner of the world (even if this means marginalizing and impoverishing parts of it), and of manipulating those market forces to the advantage of the most powerful capitalist economies and the United States in particular." ... "Military force is still central to the imperialist project, in some ways more than ever."-- Political scientist Ellen Meiksins-Wood, Z magazine Nov 1999, p26

HAPPY 'KICK OUT THE GOVERNMENT' DAY!!!

The Iraq war could cost US its financial system

The US has shot its financial bolt in Iraq, which may cost the country its financial system. It quite simply no longer has the money to stop a run on banks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If Bush wants to talk candidly about his "legacy" to this country and the world, this is a big part of that legacy.

Somehow, the words "colossal, consistent disasters on Bush's watch" seem very mild compared to the actual carnage - at every level - in which this administration has indulged.

It may cost WE THE PEOPLE their financial system. But you can be damn sure that there are wizards working behind the curtain making a huge bundle off of this.

It's sad to realize that most Americans don't even care about this. They're more interested in what's happening with the OJ Simpson trial.

"... and you don't know what you got until it's gone ..."

Financial system is dead

Wars have always been good political solutions for crisis because the allow a ton of inflation and can be used as a reason for the crisis. They also allow people to focus an a specific enemy (instead of the enemy becoming the polititians themselves).

As far as I am concerned, a war with iran seems ineviatable due to the crisis.

The dollar is dead one way ot the other.
