Was hurricane Gustav's scaled up to a catergory 3 hurricane in an attempt to create a big story?
Did the US Government know that it was not reall going to be a category 3 hurricane, but scaled it
up to scare the public?
Was it a political move to wipe talk of the Democratic Convention from the airwaves and media?
Was it designed to show how empathetic the Republicans are to the needs of the people?

kcimosthere was a story on Yahoo yesterday (i only read the headline and a few words) talking about how all the billions spent recently improving new orleans was proven to be justified / affective by the fact that limited damage occured due to Gustuv. As in "WAY TO GO BUSH ADMIN!!!, just like everything else you do, its all OK"

MadnsassyIt's obvious that much is going on behind the scenes. Central Bankers scheming and conniving while burning the midnight oil. Hedge fund Managers on Prozac and sleeping pills, also scheming and conniving. Russia/US standoff in the Georgia Region. Pakistan melting down. US aircraft carriers in and around the Persian Gulf. Israeli proclaiming that Iran cannot have nukes under any circumstances. The Taliban gaining control in Afghanistan. US and Iraq not able to reach terms on oil production and troupe withdrawal, while Iraq makes oil deals with China. And, yes, all those hurricanes out there.
Other than the hurricanes and Palin, the silence concerning a myriad of global crises is deafening.

Maybe the Ron Paul inspired protesters at the convention are out of control and they didn't know how to shut it down in time so they had to make up an excuse to cancel.
I think all of the McCain/Palin Gustav stories are a distraction from their plans to attack Iran soon.

Having gone through
dragline190dHaving gone through Hurricanes before I have to disagree with this assessment and just consider them lucky that the storm came in from the East and worked its way West!
If the storm would have approached from the south and headed directly North through the Mississippi River it would have backed all the swell straight up and the results would have been far different.

I think so. Before I saw
earlybirdI think so. Before I saw this article, I mentioned that to my husband. I had the internet open while watching CNN. One was saying it was downsized to Category 2 while the other (CNN) continued saying Category 3. I am also wondering if there was some nefarious reason why the RNC was canceled or scaled back. Are they trying to distract from something other that is going on? Is the Palin story another distraction from something else going on?
