Homeland seizures border on fascism
Business travelers and nonprofit groups have complained about having their property taken and returned months later, if ever. They are saying these searches are invasive and a violation of individual property rights.
I don't know about you, but this policy makes me fear something other than terrorists.
The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States is not just an ideal for school children. It's the law of the land. Read it. Remember it if your laptop is seized.

The whole point of these
DelFuegoStyleThe whole point of these policies is to restrict movement within and without of the US. By making travel more and more expensive; more and more complicated; and more and more time-consuming for the average citizen, we are returning to the days of when only the elite could boast of travelling cross-country or even abroad.
This reminds me of when railway travel began to become affordable in Europe. The ruling class was steadfastly opposed to it, reasoning that it would only "encourage" the working class to take vacations and become slothful...
Anyway, the old USSR didn't start off on the first day with the notion of travel visas and permits to control their population's movements.
