More than 400 would-be university students remain trapped in the Gaza Strip, unable to leave for studies abroad – including one accepted at Ryerson University – and now the Israel Broadcasting Authority is refusing to accept paid advertisements calling attention to their plight.
It's collective punishment as usual here, but it's more than that.
Israel understands what a complete public relations disaster the siege of Gaza has become, and doesn't want anyone who has experienced it to speak about it outside the confines of Gaza, where their voices can actually get heard.
The Israeli government is desperately trying to keep a lid on the horrendous conditions Israel has created in Gaza, but it's too late, and these persecutions around the world are starting to get noticed very intensely.
I would like to hope that our Canadian read readers who might be interested in letting the Israeli government know precisely how they feel about this situation contact both the Canadian Consulate in Israel, and the Israeli Consulate in Canada. Be polite and concise, but please let them know that they can't get away with this kind of behavior any longer without the world knowing about it.
