THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"I am strongly in favor of using poisoned gas against uncivilized tribes. The moral effect should be good...and it would spread a lively terror.... "-- Winston Churchill commenting on the British use of poison gas against the Iraqis after World War I

Bush intends to punish Moscow for invading Georgia

President Bush is poised to punish Moscow for its invasion of Georgia by canceling a once-celebrated deal for civilian nuclear cooperation between the U.S. and Russia.

Withdrawing the agreement from Capitol Hill would have little actual impact, as the deal very likely would not gain approval during Bush's presidency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This can - in no way - hurt Russia.

From a global geopolitical perspective, however, it does make US foreign policy makers look like very spoiled kids, indulging in a collective tantrum.

They miscalculated horrendously regarding Georgia, and so now they're trying to blame Russia for its reaction to Georgian aggression.

It appears we are starting to see some evidence of Georgian war crimes in South Ossetia.

The US is now a champion of countries which commit war crimes and practice ethnic cleansing. Is that how this white house defines "freedom and democracy these days??
