Burma junta blocks Ban Ki Moon’s meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi

Ban Ki Moon was refused a meeting with the detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi yesterday — an unpromising start to an important two-day visit to Burma by the UN Secretary-General.

“I was assured that the Myanmar authorities will make sure that this election will be held in a fair and free and transparent manner,” Mr Ban said

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is eminently possible that the man who visited Aung San Suu Kyi was planted as a reason for bringing her back to trial to prevent her from at all having a chance in the next round of elections.

And for that statement about "... the Myanmar authorities will make sure that this election will be held in a fair and free and transparent manner,”, I honestly don't know whether to laugh of cry.

Dr. Ban Ki Moon has got to know better than to believe this.

And he also had to know that he would be prevented from meeting Aung San Suu Kyi, even briefly.
