The ‘hasbara’ tweeps who brought down Jim Clancy, and their ties to Israel and the Israel lobby

As the hardly left-leaning Thomas Friedman has explained, even espousing the U.S. State Department’s official policy that settlements are illegal and East Jerusalem is an occupied city can stop a career before it starts.

Veteran CNN journalist Jim Clancy’s resignation this week is one of the odder media fallouts from the Charlie Hebdo Paris attack. On January 7, Clancy got into a late night Twitter spat regarding the French satirical magazine with online adversaries. When he told them they were ganging up on him and practicing “hasbara,” the Hebrew word for “explaining” that describes pro-Israel advocacy often at the behest of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they lashed back as if the term were libelous.

The East Ukraine Bus Disaster. The Propaganda War Goes Ballistic. Testimony of Bus Driver points to Kiev Regime

On January 13th in Volnovaha, Donetsk 11 people were killed in what looked like a spectacular rocket attack. Video footage from the scene showed how deadly a Grad rocket (Hail) attack can be. The spread of the rocket attack left small craters on both sides of a highway running through Vonovaha. The camera then turned and showed a medium sized yellow bus that looked like it was hit in the attack.

Distortions, lies and omissions: The New York Times won’t tell you the real story behind Ukraine, Russian economic collapse

In Ukraine, NATO has ceased to be an instrument of US foreign policy

A recent article on the crisis in Ukraine by Josh Rogin, a prominent member of the US foreign-policy establishment, proceeds from the premise of US exceptionalism which is at its heart. Rogin does not once mention the European Union, whose member states are neighbours and key trading partners of Russia—though the sanctions they have imposed are hindering their own sluggish economies, whereas US trade with Russia is relatively limited. It is almost as though, where American interests are at stake, the interests and views of other key players are of little or no consequence.

Ukraine Announces Mass Conscription for ‘Continental War’ With Russia

Russian officials, with support from the European Union, are continuing to try to get the ceasefire in Ukraine back in place, after it collapsed over the weekend with a full-scale Ukrainian military offensive in the east.

Ukraine’s government doesn’t seem interested with this, however, and is rather unveiling plans to dramatically increase military conscription with an eye toward a bigger war.

The ceasefire began faltering last week when the eastern rebels pressed into the Donetsk Airport, and the Ukrainian military blamed Russia, then followed up with an offensive against Donetsk and other rebel cities.

The Ukrainian parliament is now talking up a “full-scale continental war” against Russia as the reason for their increased conscription, and is back to lobbying the West for military aid for a massive war they assume will begin at any moment.

Importance of being Syria’s Assad

President Bashar al-Assad whom the US regarded all through to be “ a huge part of the problem, may also now be part of the solution”

On the other hand, the latest reports from Saudi Arabia show Crown Prince huddled with a delegation of American senators led by John McCain to discuss the Pentagon plan to arm and train the Syrian rebels. It seems for a moment that the ‘regime change’ agenda in Syria is back on the front burner of the Obama administration’s Middle East policies.

However, that will be overlooking the remarks by US secretary of state John Kerry on Wednesday voicing support for the Russian efforts to kick start negotiations between the Syrian government and the opposition figures in Moscow as well as de Mistura’s efforts for an Aleppo ceasefire.

FLASHBACK - KIEV PURCHASED HUNGARIAN T-72 TANKS TO FRAME RUSSIA!

Egy szemfüles olvasónk küldte be az alábbi fotókat, melyek a nyíregyházi vasútállomáson készültek augusztus 2-án. A közölt információk szerint a vasúti szerelvény Záhony felé tartott, ahol átlépte Ukrajna felé az államhatárt. A képek érdekessége, hogy ezeken valaha a Magyar Honvédség állományába tartozó T-72-es közepes harckocsik láthatóak.

Webmaster's Commentary:

BUMP TO THE TOP

This is a call to Rivero's Rangers to get this story out to the public before Poroshenko and Obama gets us into a potentially nuclear war with Russia!

I will save you the time of going to Google Translate. Back in August, following numerous failed attempts to claim Russia had crossed the border into Ukraine, Ukraine bought some old used-up T-72's from Hungary for 8,500 dollars each, their value as scrap metal. Now Ukraine does not use the T-72, it uses the later t-80 and t-84. But Russia still uses the T-72.

The obvious conclusion for Ukraine to buy these tanks and have them delivered secretly through other countries is to repaint the tanks in Russian colors, and plant near the border to frame Russia for an invasion.

These photos were made in Nyíregyháza railway station on August 2. Train headed to Záhony and crossed the state border to the Ukraine.

Such a deception has already been tried once! The BBC (Buggering British Children), the news network that reported the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 twenty six minutes BEFORE it actually happened, published photos of T-72s painted with Russian markings in Eastern Ukraine and claimed this was proof of a Russian invasion.

Poroshenko is desperate for NATO to intervene ... and he still has those T-72 tanks somewhere!

UPDATE: Poroshenko is claiming there are 9000 Russian troops and 500 Russian tanks inside Ukraine, again being reported by BBC (Buggering British Children), the news network that reported the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 twenty six minutes BEFORE it actually happened.

The Danger of an MH-17 ‘Cold Case’

The Obama administration continues to drag its feet on releasing U.S. intelligence evidence on who shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 six months ago, a failure that has given the guilty parties time to scatter and has created a new breeding ground for conspiracy theories.

Now more than six months after the shoot-down of a Malaysia Airlines plane over Ukraine, the refusal of the Obama administration to make public what intelligence evidence it has about who was responsible has created fertile ground for conspiracy theories to take root while reducing hopes for holding the guilty parties accountable.

Given the U.S. government’s surveillance capabilities – from satellite and aerial photographs to telephonic and electronic intercepts to human sources – American intelligence surely has a good idea what happened on July 17, 2014, when Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crashed in eastern Ukraine killing all 298 people onboard.

America Is Open for Business in Iraq (Psst… Wanna Buy an M1 Tank?)

Are Tanks Good for Anything Other Than Profits?

Washington’s rallying cry now seems to be: “Wait for the spring offensive!” In translation that means: wait for the Iraqi army to get enough newly American-trained and -armed troops into action to make a move on Mosul. That city is, of course, the country’s second largest and still ruled by the new “caliphate” proclaimed by Islamic State head Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. All in all, not exactly inspiring stuff.

You can’t have victory if you have no idea where the finish line is. But there is one bright side to the situation. If you can’t create Victory in Iraq for future VI Day parades, you can at least make a profit from the disintegrating situation there.

Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday signed a military cooperation deal with Iran that his Iranian counterpart touted as a joint response to US "interference".

The deal provides for joint exercises and military training, as well as "cooperation in peacekeeping, maintaining regional and international security and stability, and fighting against separatism and extremism," the Iranian defence ministry website said.

Russia’s support for Ukraine will not be endless, that fact has to be considered, Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday.

"We have to understand that it is the good will of our country. And that kind of support cannot go on forever. Sooner or later, it will run out, everyone has to be aware of that," Medvedev said at the cabinet meeting. The cabinet meeting was dedicated solely to the gas relations between Ukraine and Russia.

"We really believe that there are people who are close to us, who live on the territory of Ukraine. Russia's President has a position on this matter and we use it as a guideline," reminded Medvedev. "We will continue to work on this matter in the future," he added.

Dmitry Medvedev said Russia will honour its commitments on gas cooperation with Ukraine only in case Kiev settles its debt for gas supplies.

Moreover, while most military historians specializing in the history of the Eastern Front (including this writer) know that the Red Army played by far the greatest role in saving Europe from prolonged Nazi rule, only an ignoramus or liar like Mr. Yatsenyuk would say, “We all very well remember the Soviet invasion of Ukraine and Germany, and we have to avoid it.”

Graves Waiting For Bodies: Major War Escalation in Ukraine; In 5 Weeks Ukraine Out of Money

We regret having to interrupt feel-good weekend articles with more sobering news. In Ukraine, major battles have broken out over the past couple weeks.

Mainstream media has widely ignored the story because of Greece, then Charlie, and then the Swiss Franc. And of course Western media has no interest in reporting news the rebels are winning.

However, ignoring the story does not make it go away.

Major Rebel Advance

Donetsk Airport Battle is Over

Dreizin also informs me that "The battle for the Donetsk airport is over. The rebels expelled Ukraine's most elite units from their last redoubts in the new terminal building."

From a "grave" perspective, the war marches on, and will do so until the IMF steps in with another bailout or every penny is gone, whichever comes first.

Philosophically speaking, the war is actually over. Ukraine is already split in two even if international recognition of that event comes years later.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There were reports of a major attack yesterday, ordered by Poroschenko; all the images available were of housing complexes being bombed, which, I would like to mention, is a war crime.

Charlie Hebdo, Zionism & Media Deception

On the program I asked Mustapha if Zionism and the octopus of lobby groups that work on its behalf is as big a driving force behind US and broader Western foreign policy as some contend. “France, the US [and other Western countries] are under the domination of Israel,” Mustapha told me. Mustapha contends that Israel’s agents have supplanted all independent leaders in the West, replacing them with grovelling lapdogs who do the bidding of Israel at all costs, even to the detriment to their own people and nations.

We touched on the recent events in Paris, wherein “Islamist” gun-men are said to have carried out a massacre at the headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper and a kosher market. Mustapha pondered whether the attack was stage-managed by the intelligence services, considering the two deceased suspects were being closely surveyed and watched by French intelligence and police for years, their names even showing up on ‘terror watch’ and ‘no fly’ lists.

Ukraine's Poroshenko Rejects Putin's "Peace Plan"; Massive Shelling Ensues

Further to the dramatic footage yesterday, Ukrainian troops have launched a massive assault on militia-held areas, according to RT. This comes on the heels of Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko rejecting a peace plan proposed to him last week by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. As Reuters reports, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday evening, according to Russian media, that the plan, contained in a letter sent by Putin on Thursday evening, proposed a ceasefire by both government forces and separatist militiamen in southeastern Ukraine, as well as the withdrawal of heavy artillery by both sides. Given the images below, it will be hard to see how Ukraine (and The West) will spin this...

"De-Dollarization" Deepens: Russia Buys Most Gold In Six Months, Continues Selling US Treasuries

The rumors of Russia selling its gold reserves, it is now clear, were greatly exaggerated as not only did Putin not sell, Russian gold reserves rose by their largest amount in six months in December to just over $46 billion (near the highest since April 2013). It appears all the "Russia is selling" chatter did was lower prices enabling them to gather non-fiat physical assets at a lower cost. On the other hand, there is another trend that continues for the Russians - that of reducing their exposure to US Treasury debt. For the 20th month in a row, Russia's holdings of US Treasury debt fell year-over-year - selling into the strength.

Western politics of high-octane emotion

Western governments and their pliable news media are audaciously playing politics with public emotions.

The trouble with this “high-octane emotional politics” is that it stupefies the public from asking some very necessary hard questions of the authorities. By buying into weeping and self-indulgence, the public are at risk of being manipulated like never before.

Just as John Kerry was offering a big hug “to all of France”, the US government this week announced a significant step-up in its military involvement in Syria. The Pentagon unveiled plans to send 500 military personnel to train “moderate rebels” to fight against the elected government forces of President Bashar al Assad.

False flag – converted immediately into public shock, the perfect condition for ramming any police, military and surveillance legislation down the people’s throat.

On 12 January the French Parliament approved with almost unanimity – with one abstention only – the budget for France’s continuous and enlarged involvement in the new war on Iraq, a new war engagement led by Washington and supported by its vassals, UK, Canada, Australia and France. Aircraft carriers and troops were immediately mobilized, not even losing a day.

Ukraine army targeted Gorlovka with 500kg air bombs – Donetsk militia leader

Ukrainian warplanes used 500kg aviation bombs in their attack on the town of Gorlovka on Sunday, said Aleksandr Zakharchenko, head of the People’s Republic of Donetsk, adding that it was not a targeted bombardment.

"Towards the evening, the Ukrainian bombers performed an airstrike on Gorlovka with 500-kilogram aviation bombs. Notably, the bombardment was not targeted; it came from over the clouds and the aim was simply to hit the town,” Zakharchenko said.

Ukraine forces reclaim Donetsk airport in new offensive

Ukrainian troops recaptured almost all the territory of Donetsk airport in eastern Ukraine they had lost to separatists in recent weeks, even as thousands gathered in Kiev for a state-sponsored peace march on Sunday.

The offensive brought fighting close to the industrial city of Donetsk itself, centre of a pro-Russian rebellion, while shelling intensified in other parts of the region, known as the "Donbass".

Donetsk shelled as Kiev 'orders massive fire' on militia-held E. Ukraine

Ukrainian troops have launched a massive assault on militia-held areas Sunday morning after an order from Kiev, a presidential aide said. The self-proclaimed Donetsk republic’s leader accused Kiev of trying to restart the war.

The order to launch the offensive was issued early approximately at 6:00 am, according to Yury Biryukov, an aide to President Petro Poroshenko.

Can Obama Untangle from Syria’s Civil War?

Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar would all reject a policy that would allow a regime they regard as an Iranian ally to persist in Syria.

Contradictions between the Obama administration’s policy in Syria and realities on the ground have become so acute that U.S. officials began last November discussing a proposal calling for support of local ceasefires between opposition forces and the Assad regime in dozens of locations across Syria.

The proposal surfaced in two articles in Foreign Policy magazine and in a column by the Washington Post’s David Ignatius. Those indicated that it was under serious consideration by administration officials. In fact, the proposal may even have played a role in a series of four White House meetings during the week of Nov. 6-13, to discuss Syria policy, one of which Obama himself presided over.

Neocons: The ‘Anti-Realists’

This neocon madness – this “anti-realism” – has been playing out in the real world on a grand scale, destroying real lives and endangering the real future of the planet.

The primary distinction between the neocons and the liberal interventionists has been the centrality of Israel in the neocons’ thinking while their liberal sidekicks put “humanitarianism” at the core of their world view. But these differences are insignificant, in practice, since the liberal hawks are politically savvy enough not to hold Israel accountable for its human rights crimes and clever enough to join with the neocons in easy-to-sell “regime change” strategies toward targeted countries with weak lobbies in Washington.

U.S. Military Trainers for Syrian Rebels to Arrive Within Weeks

The first of as many as 1,000 U.S. military trainers and support personnel will be sent to the Mideast within the next week or so to lay the groundwork for training more moderate Syrian rebels, the Pentagon’s top spokesman said.

The trainers, a mix of U.S. special operations forces and conventional forces, will deploy over the next four to six weeks to training sites outside Syria, Rear Admiral John Kirby told reporters at the Pentagon on Friday. Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar have been identified as locations for training.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh, REALLY?!? the US military is going to train those alleged "moderate Syrian Rebels", who for the last several years, have been pathologically unable to uproot Al-Assad, and appears, collectively, to be the gang that can't shoot straight?!?

I, for one, am not swallowing that particular koolaid, thank you very much.

What I believe here is that the so called "moderate rebels" are simply a cover for putting covert US troops on the ground in Syria.

There are just two, teeny, tiny problems here: Syria has a mutual defense pact with both Russia and Iran.

Any US boots on the ground in Syria is justification for Al-Assad to invoke those mutual defense treaties with Russia and Iran.

Also, if "training moderate Syrian troops" actually worked, al-Assad would be cooling his heels in a US-controlled hell-hole prison by now, and a US-centric government would have already been installed.

Doing the same thing, in the same way, over and over, yet expecting a different outcome, is one of the classic definitions of insanity.

Ukrainian Crisis and International Security

2015 will be no less memorable than the previous year. No doubt it will leave a trace in the contemporary history. The crisis in Ukraine testifies to the fact that the world lacks instruments for crisis management while international organizations have so far failed to counter the destabilizing activities of individual states – first of all the United States and its NATO allies. Ahead of Serbia assuming the chair of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on January 1, 2015 Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in December that the Ukrainian crisis would be an OSCE priority during Serbia's chairmanship, and more efforts would be applied to stop further violence and make both sides respect an agreed ceasefire. Serbia will be directly responsible for the management of crisis which has many similarities with the events in the Balkans that took place in the 1990s.

Billion-dollar deal: Russia to sell space rocket engines to US company

Russia’s design bureau NPO Energomash is to deliver 60 RD 181 engines for the Antares rocket first stage to American space technology manufacturer Orbital Sciences Corporation. The total cost of the deal is about $1 billion.

“We are committed to deliver 60 engines. Three options have been signed, each for 20 engines,” Vladimir Solntsev, executive director of Energomash, told the Izvestia newspaper. “There is a firm contract for 20 engines, which we have started fulfilling, as we are due to supply the first two engines next June.”

According to Solntsev, Russia’s government has already issued all the permits required for the deal. The contract envisages restrictions for the use of RD-181 engines in military programs as those rockets cannot be used for military goals.

Following an engine failure and subsequent explosion during the Antares launch in October, the company halted all launches, struggling to find a replacement.

Back in November, before most grasped just how serious the collapse in crude was (and would become, as well as its massive implications), we wrote "How The Petrodollar Quietly Died, And Nobody Noticed", because for the first time in almost two decades, energy-exporting countries would pull their "petrodollars" out of world markets in 2015.

Propaganda, or more precisely, manipulation of minds is one of the most important elements in modern warfare. One aspect of it is creating enemies, where there are no real enemies. Good example of it was 9/11, a moment that changed our world permanently. After what happened in New York, we saw how new kind of a warfare rapidly took place, the war against terrorism. Very flexible, even though a bit vague, military concept. That concept justifies casualties, slaughtering of innocent civilians, and enormous military budgets. And so, Pandora's box was opened, and this endless war against terrorism continues and escalates all the time, covering true purposes and targets.

Dying ‘good career move’ for French hate-mag

As ever, the Muslim world is responding with restraint and dignity to the latest vile conduct by Western so-called free-speech secularism.

The French so-called satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo – more accurately a hate-inciting, racist rag – has published its first post-massacre edition this week, with print sales going through the roof.

The magazine has abused the principle of free speech as a cynical cover to promote hate speech and in particular to foment prejudice against the Muslim population of France and Europe more generally.

Muslims have become the most vulnerable community in Europe and around the world for persecution by Western state and non-state bigots. Over the past week, Muslim communities and places of worship have been attacked by mobs in Germany and France amid the climate of hatred that the likes of Charlie Hebdo and its state benefactors have been responsible for.

Russia Cuts Off Ukraine Gas Supply To 6 European Countries

Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian state energy giant Gazprom to cut supplies to and through Ukraine amid accusations, according to The Daily Mail, that its neighbor has been siphoning off and stealing Russian gas. Due to these "transit risks for European consumers in the territory of Ukraine," Gazprom cut gas exports to Europe by 60%, plunging the continent into an energy crisis "within hours." Perhaps explaining the explosion higher in NatGas prices (and oil) today, gas companies in Ukraine confirmed that Russia had cut off supply; and six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas. The EU raged that the sudden cut-off to some of its member countries was "completely unacceptable," but Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller later added that Russia plans to shift all its natural gas flows crossing Ukraine to a route via Turkey; and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak stated unequivocally, "the decision has been made."

Russia: ISIS execution video a provocation

Russia said a video released Monday by ISIS, showing a child shooting to death two men alleged to be Russian agents, resembled a “provocation.”

The video, posted on Al-Hayat, the group’s media arm, was “doubtful,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said. “Our security services will be analyzing it closely. It looks like someone wanted to stage yet another provocation against Russia.” Russia’s Federal Security Service has declined to comment. The Russian Embassy in Syria said it couldn’t confirm whether any FSB agents have been killed, according to state news RIA Novosti.

The video, in Russian with English and Arabic subtitles, showed the interrogation of the two men who confessed to working for the FSB. One of them, who said his name was Sergei Ashimov, said he’d been sent to assassinate an ISIS commander. The second man, Jambulat Mamayev, said he was from Kazakhstan and was on a mission to collect intelligence about Russian fighters and an ISIS commander.

Two decades after the Cold War ended, the United States and Russia each agreed to dispose of 34 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium -- enough for about 20,000 warheads -- by combining most of it with uranium to create mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel for commercial nuclear reactors. Proponents boasted it was a modern-day fulfillment of the biblical call for nations to "beat their swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks."

Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be that simple.

Gazprom warns EU to link to Turkey pipeline or lose Russian gas

Russia's Gazprom giant on Wednesday urged the European Union to link up to its planned energy pipeline to Turkey or lose the gas that now transits Ukraine.

Europe plunged into energy crisis as Russia cuts off gas supply via Ukraine

Russia cut gas exports to Europe by 60 per cent today, plunging the continent into an energy crisis 'within hours' as a dispute with Ukraine escalated.

This morning, gas companies in Ukraine said that Russia had completely cut off their supply.

Six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas shipped via Ukraine today, in a sharp escalation of a struggle over energy that threatens Europe as winter sets in.

Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Croatia and Turkey all reported a halt in gas shipments from Russia through Ukraine.

Croatia said it was temporarily reducing supplies to industrial customers while Bulgaria said it had enough gas for only 'for a few days' and was in a 'crisis situation'.

Watch your language! (even when speaking the undeniable truth)

Willcox: “Many critics, though, of Israel’s policy would suggest that the Palestinians suffer hugely at Jewish hands as well.”

Poor Tim Willcox, now terrorized for doing a professional job at the Paris anti-terror march.

In a live TV report the BBC’s Willcox was interviewing people in the crowd and talking to a Jewish woman about her fears of persecution.

She said: “The situation is going back to the days of the 1930s in Europe.”

Willcox replied: “Many critics, though, of Israel’s policy would suggest that the Palestinians suffer hugely at Jewish hands as well.”

She countered: “We can’t do an amalgam.”

Willcox said: “You understand everything is seen from different perspectives.”

The reporter’s remarks were widely criticized by viewers, with some calling for his resignation.

Some member states pulling out observers from Ukraine: OSCE

As violence continues in Ukraine, Europe’s top security watchdog has said some of its observers are being pulled out of eastern Ukraine.

“Some member states have temporarily withdrawn their monitors from the Lugansk and Donetsk regions,” Michael Bociurkiw, the spokesman for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), said on Wednesday.

Russia President Not Welcome at Auschwitz Liberation Anniversary

The standard practice for an event such as this would be for the host country to send out formal invitations.

However, specifically to avoid having to send a formal invitation to Russia president Poland did not send out invitations to anyone.

Instead she sent out mere notifications that event is going to take place.

After asking for a clarification whether it is invited or not Russia correctly concluded it is not welcome by the host country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I rather suspect that Putin is perfectly happy not to have to sit through this nonsense one more time.

Russia Just Pulled Itself Out Of The Petrodollar

When the price of crude started its self-reinforcing plunge, such a death would happen whether the petrodollar participants wanted it, or, as the case may be, were dragged into the abattoir kicking and screaming. It is the latter that seems to have taken place with the one country that many though initially would do everything in its power to have an amicable departure from the Petrodollar and yet whose divorce from the USD has quickly become a very messy affair, with lots of screaming and the occasional artillery shell. As Bloomberg reports Russia "may unseal its $88 billion Reserve Fund and convert some of its foreign-currency holdings into rubles, the latest government effort to prop up an economy veering into its worst slump since 2009." "Together with the central bank, we are selling a part of our foreign-currency reserves,” Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in Moscow today. “We’ll get rubles and place them in deposits for banks, giving liquidity to the economy."

With Ukraine Default Risk At 6 Year Highs, US Taxpayers "Volunteer" To Guarantee Its Debt

Just two days ago we detailed the possibility that Russia could accelerate debt repayment on a $3 billion loan it granted to Ukraine that has broken its covenants. While there is no word yet from Russia on a decision whether to demand the payment, it appears, as Reuters reports, the US taxpayer - just as we warned - is quite willing to step up (thanks to their leaders in Washington) and guarantee $2 billion in loans to the world's 2nd most credit risky nation (after Venezuela).

Gazprom announces final nail in the South Stream coffin

Europe will have to get gas via Turkey or Ukraine, there will be no direct transcontinental pipeline to Europe, Gazprom has confirmed. It is disappointing news for Bulgaria, which was hoping to get gas directly from Russia, and not via Ukraine.

Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller made it clear that Turkey, and not Bulgaria, will become the main gas valve between Russia and Europe.

“South Stream is dead. For Europe there will be no other gas transit options to risky Ukraine other than the new ‘Turkish Stream’ pipeline,” Miller said Wednesday, as reported by RIA Novosti.

Netanyahu gatecrashes Paris rally

Gatecrashing Netanyahu's latest offense. Showing up where not wanted.

French President Francois Hollande’s national security advisor, Jacques Audibert, asked him not to come, through his Israeli counterpart, Yossi Cohen. Saying Sunday’s event wanted to demonstrate solidarity with France. Avoid divisive issues. Like Israeli/Palestinian relations.

“(S)everal hours after (he said) he would not be traveling to Paris, his office issued a statement stating that he would in fact be at the march.”

“Hollande’s anger at Netanyahu was evident during (Sunday evening’s) ceremony,” said Haaretz. Held at Paris’ Grand Synagogue. “(A)ttended by hundreds of members of the local Jewish community. Hollande sat through most of the ceremony, but when Netanyahu’s turn at the podium arrived,” he walked out. A snub easily noticed.

NATO plans to increase military exercises in Baltic region

The top military commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) says the military alliance is planning to increase its military exercises in the Baltic Sea region.

On Tuesday, General Philip Breedlove made the announcement during a visit in northwestern Poland.

He added that the decision was made in response to a rise in Russian military maneuvers in the region late last year.

"There will be several adaptations of our exercise program. The first series of changes will not be an increase in number but they will be to group them together ... to better prepare our forces and to allow nations to work together as a NATO force, but we are looking at increasing some exercises."

The NATO commander further accused Moscow of hurting prospects of talks with Kiev, saying it was continuing to support pro-Russia forces in eastern Ukraine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to General Breedlove, who appears to be suffering from SMD (Selective Memory Disorder). And sir, I am very sorry to have ti say this, but your narrative regarding Ukraine is just, pain, flat, inconsistent with the facts on the ground.

Fact: The previous President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was unceremoniously thrown under a bus, and made to leave the country, courtesy of a US/EU/ECB sponsored. putsch. Yes, the guy was so crooked that he had to screw on his socks; but he was the duly elected president of the country.

He was then replaced by Pietro Poroshenko who was allowed to take over as President in an election that definitely did NOT have the patina of having been placed in office through a free and fair election.

Fact: People in Eastern Ukraine, realizing that the Poroschenko regime was completely illegitimate, began to get upset about dealing with another tin-pot dictator, and decided that they needed to withdraw from Ukraine.

So now, we have a situation where Donetsk and its rebels are getting shelled, with impunity, as you well know.

So General; how long will the US allow this to continue, when men, innocent women and children are getting killed and wounded with impunity?!? I know in "milispeak" (military jargon) that for you and your colleagues, this is just "collateral damage". But to friends and families of these people, (particularly children) the targeting of these people is a war crime.

Oh, and yes: what about Ukraine's use of poison gas last summer against the rebels?!?!?

It appears that there has been a philosophy on Poroshenko's part to leave no person attacked alive. Even the kids.

General, as a Christian Pacifist, who could never advocate violence, I am very concerned about where the US support for the current Ukrainian government will lead.

But at the end of the day, sir, I, and many other thinking people, see Ukraine as a prelude for war against Russia.

And sir, you, of all people, have to understand; at present, the US military does not have the troop strength; the manufacturing, or the money to insure a positive outcome to such a war; and that is what makes the potential military scenario so scarily dangerous.

Centcom Accounts Hacked: Just Another Inconvenience for Pentagon or Harbinger of Big War?

On January 12, the Twitter and YouTube accounts of the US military command were suspended for a few hours after being hacked by a group claiming to back Islamic State. The United States Central Command (US Centcom or Centcom) is a theatre – level Unified Combatant Command of the US Department of Defense with the area of responsibility to include the countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. The Centcom forces are striking the positions of Islamic State in Syria and Iraq.

On the one hand, it’s just another battle of the cyberwar waged by the United States to become a factor of the contemporary international situation. On the other hand, the episode has specific features to make it stand out among other events of this kind.

Peculiarities of the Russian National Character

Recent events, such as the overthrow of the government in Ukraine, the secession of Crimea and its decision to join the Russian Federation, the subsequent military campaign against civilians in Eastern Ukraine, western sanctions against Russia, and, most recently, the attack on the ruble, have caused a certain phase transition to occur within Russian society, which, I believe, is very poorly, if at all, understood in the west. This lack of understanding puts Europe at a significant disadvantage in being able to negotiate an end to this crisis.

Press Release: The World Bank and the IMF Open up Ukraine to Western Interests

A new report from the Oakland Institute, Walking on the West Side: the World Bank and the IMF in the Ukraine Conflict, exposes how the international financial institutions swooped in on the heels of the political upheaval and are vying to deregulate and throw open Ukraine’s vast agricultural sector to foreign investors. Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s rejection of an EU Association agreement in favor of a Russian deal was a major factor in the crisis that led to his ouster in February 2014. Immediately following the change to a pro-EU government, the country’s pivot to the West was solidified with a $17 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and an additional $3.5 billion aid package from the World Bank, both of which require significant economic reforms and austerity measures that are set to have disastrous effects within the nation.

Ukraine Agreed to a Monsanto “Land Grab” to Get a $17 Billion Loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)

The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) is helping biotech run the latest war in Ukraine. Make no mistake that what is happening in the Ukraine now is deeply tied to the interests of Monsanto, Dow, Bayer, and other big players in the poison food game.

Monsanto has an office in Ukraine. While this does not shout ‘culpability’ from every corner, it is no different than the US military’s habit to place bases in places that they want to gain political control. The opening of this office coincided with land grabs with loans from the IMF and World Bank to one of the world’s most hated corporations – all in support of their biotech takeover.

First pictures emerge of Ukrainian pilot pro-Russian rebels claim downed MH17 killing all 298 victims on board

A picture has emerged of the Ukrainian pilot alleged to have been the 'executioner' of MH17
The Russian Investigative Committee is calling for Captain Vladislav Voloshin to take a lie detector test
A'secret witness' say he took off in a combat jet, armed with missiles
When he returned he was 'scared' saying MH17 was in the wrong place

Webmaster's Commentary:

MH17 in the "wrong place?" What was Captain Vladislav Voloshin supposed to be shooting at that looks like a passenger jet painted white with blue and red trim?!?

As it happens, Russian President Vladimir Putin was flying through the same area on that very day, returning home from a six day visit to Cuba and South America. Putin's Presidential jet is based on the Ilyushin 96. The IL-96 is a passenger jet, and is painted with a similar color scheme to the Malaysian 777. At a distance, they could easily have been confused for one another!

So Kiev wanted to murder Putin, to throw the Russian government into turmoil while Kiev reconquered the east (and possibly Crimea), but botched the operation, shooting down MH17 instead, then tried to drop the blame on Russia.

Charlie Hebdo Massacre: Another Staged Event to Incite War and Destroy Freedom?

Many analysts are questioning the dubious timing and nature of all of these incidents, which come at just the right moment to lend credence to the US-led coalition against ISIS.It is nothing short of miraculous that just as various Western countries gear up for military strikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, ‘terror incidents’ hit their respective homelands right on cue to give the politicians their belated ‘casus belli’ for joining the campaign to be rid of ISIS.

French politicians and other Western leaders have been pontificating about Western ‘values’ and have selectively invoked ‘freedom of speech.’ “We live in a free and open democracy which has freedom of speech,” the West’s dishonest leaders say.

“Radical Muslims don’t believe in ‘our values,’ hence the necessity to fight them overseas” is the standard establishment talking point, trotted out time and again by the professional script readers fronting as presidents and prime ministers.

Israel Big Winners at ICC: Palestinians and US Taxpayers Too!

Turn on Your Smart Phone! Justice Calling! See You in Court!

This past week the International Criminal Court at the Hague accepted the application of Palestine to join the court. This so-called risky move by Palestinian President Abbas was both applauded by the world and sadly panned by the USA and Israel as being provocative and an obstacle to the “peace process”.Strange the USA and Israeli governments attempt to argue against a day in civil court right? Talk about being on the wrong side of humanity! Ouch!

I mean there is NO better way to behave in a civil society with our fellow man than going to court.

Going to court is the most excellent non-violent way to seek justice when injustice exists unchecked. It exposes our bad behavior to objective peers for a judgment that help us all better live together under commonly held values. Yet here we are watching the lost USA and Israel stand-alone against justice! Sad really!

The farce of Western free speech

Western free speech is nothing but a cynical charade by those in power to maintain their unlawful positions of power.

Speaking outside Elysée Palace in the aftermath of this week’s terror killings in France, former President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned the violence as “an attack on civilization.” Coiffured, sun-tanned and nattily dressed, Sarkozy’s solemn words made him appear like the embodiment of civility.

That’s a quaint turn in etiquette by a politician who is mired in allegations of sleaze and corruption, as well as war crimes.

Sarkozy wasn’t too concerned about “civilization” when he and his British allies launched the NATO bombing campaign of Libya in March 2011 in stark violation of a UN mandate. That seven-month onslaught led to the murder of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi – from whom Sarkozy had gladly received hush-hush political donations in the past, before stabbing him in the back.
