The Baltimore Uprising and the U.S. Government's Record on Human Rights

On Friday, Baltimore state's attorney Marilyn Mosby declared that six police officers will face criminal charges including second degree heart murder, manslaughter, assault and false imprisonment for their role in the arrest and homicide of 25-year-old African American Freddie Gray. While this is welcome and encouraging news for those seeking justice for Gray and his family, past experience demonstrates the odds the accused criminals will be convicted are miniscule. Regardless, it is not enough to treat the Freddie Gray incident as merely a violation of domestic law.

It’s Official: Police Were Ordered To Stand Down And Let The Baltimore Riots Rage Out Of Control

We now have official confirmation that the rioting in Baltimore on Monday was purposely allowed to spiral out of control. Up until now, there had been some unconfirmed reports that police in Baltimore had been ordered to “stand down” during the riots, but nobody had been willing to come forward and go on the record. Now that has all changed. Michael Lewis is the Sheriff of Wicomico County, Maryland and what he has to say is absolutely jaw dropping. When he saw what was happening in Baltimore, he gathered up some of his fellow officers and drove down to the city to help. But when he got there, he says that all of the police were being ordered not to take any action and to let the rioters destroy property. Lewis made this astounding claim during a discussion on a Baltimore radio station…

New Example of the Pentagon, DEA and Private Companies Conspiring to Beat Encryption, Track Everything You Do

Yet another report has surfaced describing how tools created by the companies selling software that can damage and hack into people’s computers are being deployed by U.S. security services. While the coverage surrounding this story focuses primarily on federal agencies it’s important to step back for a moment and view the big picture. In particular, looking at who builds, operates, and profits from mass surveillance technology offers insight into the nature of the global panopticon.

Individual power in a decaying world

“Solutions to private problems and public problems require the ability to think things through, logically, and to reject what is unworkable or biased—but above and beyond that, a person needs to be able to imagine solutions that haven’t been tried before. He can’t keep asking other people to invent solutions for him. This is the hardest lesson. The habit of demanding that others come up with answers, that others find a way out of the tunnel—this habit is based on the assumption that one’s own power of imagination is grossly limited, which is a lie. You might say it is the central lie.”

Anti-austerity group plans protest outside Bank of England

The anti-austerity group behind a protest that escalated into violent clashes with riot police outside Downing Street on Saturday is planning another demonstration outside the Bank of England next month.

The People’s Assembly has told campaigners to assemble “right on the doorstep of the very people who created the crisis in the first place” in central London on 20 June, sparking what could become a summer of anti-austerity protests across the UK.

Hundreds of people attended the group’s impromptu demonstration outside Downing Street on Saturday after David Cameron was returned to No 10 with a Conservative majority.

Today’s Victory Day celebrations in Moscow mark a turning point in Russian history

Today is truly a historical day. For the first time ever the West has boycotted the Victory Day Parade in Moscow and, also for the first time ever, Chinese forces have marched on the Beautiful Square (“Red” square is a mistranslation – the “Red Square” ought be called the “Beautiful Square”) with the Russians. I believe that this is a profoundly symbolic shift and one which makes perfectly good sense.

V-DAY: Russia’s Perpetual Fight Against Fascism

70 years since the great Victory! 70 years since Soviet people saved the world by smashing Nazism.

All accords with Russia were broken, whenever it suited invaders. The Scandinavians wiped out countless Russian lives, and so did the Germans, French, Poles, Brits, North Americans and Czechs, to name just a few. Russians never really ‘punished’ anybody, in the Protestant, Anglo-Saxon way. Punishment is mainly puritan, Protestant rubbish; the Russian way of thinking is too quixotic for that.

The West lied to Lenin, to Stalin, to Khrushchev and finally to Gorbachev. The West has been lying to Putin and about Putin.

A Brief Overview Of ABI And Human Domain Analytics

In Iraq, the Intelligence Community was tasked with finding terrorists and insurgents bent on harming US Forces and their interests. These terrorists or insurgents rarely performed activities that were dissimilar from non-terrorists (especially in the planning phases). In terms of Iraqi mysteries, the questions were “Will something happen?” and “How can we predict it and prevent it?” Analysts began to develop techniques to address these mysteries using any means at their disposal to aggregate these activities, assess transactions, and develop networks of interest.

Thinking Differently: Unlocking the Human Domain in Support of the 21st Century Intelligence Mission

People are the currency of the human domain; their visible behaviors and symbols are one of the only ways to really discern their thoughts and motivations. Add in the cultural complexity of differing worldviews, beliefs and values that play on those thoughts and motivations and the domain becomes even less certain to decode. Factor in that U.S. military and civilian personnel directly, and indirectly, influence the course of interactions and behavior in the domain and the human domain becomes incredibly layered and dense, where meaning and purpose is difficult to extract and effort and skill necessary for success within the domain difficult to master.

You know the one, the dream of controlling everything beneath the sky from horizon to horizon.

Make the Rich Panic

It does not matter to the corporate rich who wins the presidential election. It does not matter who is elected to Congress. The rich have the power. They throw money at their favorites the way a gambler puts cash on his favorite horse. Money has replaced the vote. The wealthy can crush anyone who does not play by their rules. And the political elites—slobbering over the spoils provided by their corporate masters for selling us out—understand the game. Barack and Michelle Obama, as did the Clintons, will acquire many millions of dollars once they leave the White House. And your elected representative in the House or Senate, if not a multimillionaire already, will be one as soon as he or she retires from government and is handed seats on corporate boards or positions in lobbying firms. We do not live in a democracy. We live in a political system that has legalized bribery, exclusively serves corporate power and is awash in propaganda and lies.

Chaos – not Victory – is Empire’s Name of the Game

“Once again a country “liberated” by the West is sinking deeper and deeper into chaos.”

This could be anyone of the countries in conflict, where Washington and its Western and Middle Eastern stooges sow war – eternal chaos, misery, death – and submission.

This is precisely the point: The Washington / NATO strategy is not to ‘win’ a war or conflict, but to create ongoing – endless chaos. That’s the way (i) to control people, nations and their resources; (ii) to assure the west is in continuous need for military – troops and equipment – remember more than 50% of the US GDP depends on the military industrial complex, related industries and services; and (iii) finally, a country in disarray or chaos, is broke and needs money – money with hardship conditions, ‘austerity’ money from the notorious IMF, World Bank and other associated nefarious ‘development institutions’ and money lenders; money that equals enslavement, especially with corrupt leaders that do not care for their people.

When The Elites Wage War On America, This Is How They Will Do It

By Brandon Smith

The consequences and patterns of war, whether by one nation against another or by a government against the citizenry, rarely change. However, the methods of war have evolved vastly in modern times. Wars by elites against populations are often so subtle that many people might not even recognize that they are under attack until it is too late. Whenever I examine the conceptions of “potential war” between individuals and oligarchy, invariably some hard-headed person cries out: “What do you mean ‘when?’ We are at war right now!” In this case, I am not talking about the subtle brand of war. I am not talking about the information war, the propaganda war, the economic war, the psychological war or the biological war. I am talking about outright warfare, and anyone who thinks we have already reached that point has no clue what real war looks like.

The recent exposure of the nationwide Jade Helm 15 exercise has made many people suspicious, and with good reason...

Are You Really Stunned That Ethiopian Anger Has Reached Tel Aviv?

Scenes like that, of the press talking with activists, were mixed with those that looked ripped from the West Bank, with the Israeli army confronting Palestinian demonstrators. Legions of policemen with truncheons waded into crowds of black men and women; police hurled stun grenades by the dozens; mounted officers charged down the streets lined with posh cafés. Lumbering white armored vehicles sprayed the protesters with water cannons.

Was this Tel Aviv? The high-tech metropolis where everything is relaxed and people sit on the beach for hours on end? How, some wondered, could such violence reach all the way into this bubble?

But the real question is: How could it not?

The Baltimore Riots: Where The State Is The Insurgency

Things are moving pretty fast in Baltimore. Three weeks ago Baltimore was just another American city, bustling beneath the radar of national attention. Freddie Gray died in police custody on April 12, and here we are in the first days of May and we’ve already witnessed riots, the swift arrest of six Baltimore police officers, and a triumphant victory rally.

There are still so many unanswered questions and conflicting information regarding the death of Freddie Gray that I find this topic very hard to write about. I’m not one who likes to eat crow unless I have to, so I won’t be discussing the actual incident. However, there is no shortage of people who apparently have no problem organizing, demanding, rioting, assaulting, and burning buildings without the necessary information.

Why the Latest Protest Against Police Brutality Is Happening in Israel

Scores are hurt in weekend protests in Tel Aviv as Ethiopian Israelis rally against what they say is long-running racism

FLASHBACK 2013 - Hungary Sheds Bankers’ Shackles

Hungary is making history of the first order.

Not since the 1930s in Germany has a major European country dared to escape from the clutches of the Rothschild-controlled international banking cartels. This is stupendous news that should encourage nationalist patriots worldwide to increase the fight for freedom from financial tyranny.

Already in 2011, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán promised to serve justice on his socialist predecessors, who sold the nation’s people into unending debt slavery under the lash of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the terrorist state of Israel. Those earlier administrations were riddled with Israelis in high places, to the fury of the masses, who finally elected Orbán’s Fidesz party in response.

That leaves only 4 percent of people that believe that everything will be just fine. In this day and age, it is virtually impossible to get 96 percent of Americans to agree on anything. So the fact that just about everyone agrees that we are going to see more civil unrest should really tell you something.

POLICE REPORT PART I: BADGE ABUSE

April 2015 was a tumultuous month for policing in “The Land of the Free”. From traffic stop confessions of ticket-writing “expectations” to men being beaten by uniformed officers for sadistic pleasure to a shackled city rupturing in violent riots, the past month has been a horrific case study on the state of police in the United States. This Police Report documents the most egregious cases of police brutality, wrongful deaths, extortion via court fines and surveillance tactics used by local law enforcement. We also explore the perspective from behind the body camera, speaking to a former police chief and current city manager who implemented body cameras in his city two years ago. The unprecedented national attention paid this month to the issue of police brutality will prove historic as citizens take power over the police narrative through camera lenses. This is the April 2015 Police Report.

Al Sharpton Reveals Federal Agenda: “We Need the Justice Department to Take Over Policing”

Mac Slavo
SHTFplan.com
It isn’t really about Freddie Gray. And it isn’t really about race, either.

It’s about federal power over policing in America.

That agenda, which SHTF reported on back in December, is made plain by the latest from the Rev. Al Sharpton:

“We need the Justice Department to step in and take over policing in this country. In the 20th Century, we had to fight states’ rights to get the right to vote, and we got to fight states’ rights in terms of closing down police cases. Police must be held accountable. I don’t think all police are bad; I don’t even think most are bad; but those that are need to be held accountable.”

Walmart Abruptly Lays Off 2,200; Tells Them to Avoid Caffeine and Chocolate, the Nightmares and Flashbacks Will Go Away Soon

What the hell is going on at Walmart? The company shut five stores down with no warning (one of which was a very busy location), laying everyone off and blaming it on plumbing, but a lot of people aren’t buying it.

There are several theories from martial law to payback for protests for higher pay, but either way, this advice sheet given out to the people who were abruptly laid off without warming is really very bizarre.

Aside from telling these people to avoid stimulants such as caffeine, chocolate, nicotine and depressants such as alcohol, one of the pieces of advice on the handout actually says, “Remember that difficulty sleeping, nightmares, flashbacks, and feelings of being ‘hyper-alert’ are common and will diminish in time.”

Wow. Flashbacks and nightmares about working at Walmart? Being “hyper-alert”? Was it really that bad??

The U.S. government has angered many countries because of their long history of highly aggressive military actions, but there seems to be no plan of stopping. It would be smart to listen to the other countries and simmer down in the military department before it is too late. It’s no secret that the U.S. is most certainly not the most loved country in the world because of its government’s long history of highly aggressive military actions, as well as its interference in the internal affairs of countless nations. But what we are seeing today is that an increasing number of nations are turning against the U.S. and taking various actions to rid themselves of its presence and influence.

6 Baltimore Cops Released on Bail

6 Baltimore Cops Released on Bail Set Lower Than $500,000 for Jailed Protester

Six police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray were released from Baltimore’s Central Booking and Intake Center Friday night after posting bail, court records show, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The four officers facing felony charges posted $350,000 bails; the two facing misdemeanors posted $250,000 bails, the Sun writes.

The news comes after Allen Bullock, 18, who was captured in photos smashing police car windows with a traffic cone, surrendered to police earlier this week at the urging of his parents. And as of two days ago, he was being held on $500,000 bail, an amount his parents could not afford.

The Day After Damascus Falls

The Saudi-Israeli alliance has gone on the offensive, ramping up a “regime change” war in Syria and, in effect, promoting a military victory for Al-Qaeda or its spinoff, the Islamic State. But the consequences of that victory could toll the final bell for the American Republic, writes Robert Parry.

If Syrian President Bashar al-Assad meets the same fate as Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi or Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, much of Official Washington would rush out to some chic watering hole to celebrate – one more “bad guy” down, one more “regime change” notch on the belt. But the day after Damascus falls could mark the beginning of the end for the American Republic.

Is Merkel a CIA Asset ?

Is Merkel an asset for American intelligence, serving the geopolitical interests of Washington rather than the good of her own nation, or the wider good of Europe?

The claims that Merkel’s government knew about German state intelligence spying on behalf of the Americans against the country’s own industrial interests raise disturbing questions about the integrity of German government leaders.

The apparent betrayal of German national interests by Chancellor Angela Merkel is not only evident over the recent industrial spying scandal on behalf of America, the slavish pursuit by Merkel of Washington’s anti-Russian policy over Ukraine — in contradistinction to her country’s national interests — also cogently suggests that the chancellor is serving a foreign master.

Feds Seize $62,000 From Innocent Organic Farmer Because The Bank Teller Gave Him Bad Advice

Randy and Karen Sowers innocently watched the government take $62,000 of the money they had made selling milk from grass-fed cows and eggs from cage-free chickens at Washington, D.C.-area farmer’s markets.

“It is not right that the government can take all of your money on the basis that they think you have done something wrong,” Sowers told the Ways and Means Committee of the US House of Representatives in February. “Also, when the government shows up at your door with armed agents and hands you a subpoena, your whole life is turned upside down.”

The case has galvanized opponents of what is called civil forfeiture and united politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Mosby also announced that in fact, the weapon police found on Gray was not illegal after all. He was in possession of a knife that was not only legal under Maryland law, but its blade was tucked in a safe position and was inside his pocket.

Freddie Gray, it turns out, was legally bearing arms, as the Second Amendment of the Constitution guarantees.

His arrest, and his death, appear to be a violation of a number of his civil rights, and those rights include his Second Amendment rights to carry a weapon.

Baltimore Riots And A Vision Of Things To Come

By Brandon Turbeville

The recent death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray at the hands of police in Baltimore, MD has now been added to the long list of American citizens murdered by the law enforcement community. Video footage of Gray’s arrest alone is cause enough for anger but his subsequent death after wounds inflicted by police – while not on video – are an atrocious case of neglect at best and outright torture and murder at worst. Given the track record of the US law enforcement community and the history of Baltimore’s policing in general, the latter is the most likely scenario.

The online activity of a few dozen of the same individuals were linked and timed with key moments in Baltimore and Ferguson, leading up to the most intense episodes of violent riots in both of these cities.

2 Choices: Legislation Redestribuing Wealth Or Revolution Distributing Poverty

One of my favorite historians is a guy named Will Durant.

Durant is unfortunately no longer with us, but he and his wife Ariel made history more interesting than all the soap operas my mother used to watch when I was a kid.

I thought about something he wrote this morning when I glanced at the paper and saw a headline about the riots in Baltimore.

In Durant’s seminal work on Louis the XIV, he wrote that “the men who can manage men manage the men who can manage only things, and the men who can manage money manage all.”

Now if the quote is confusing, just focus on the last eight words.

IN PHOTOS ~~ MARCHING FOR NUCLEAR SANITY

A huge anti-nuclear march took place on the streets of Manhattan Sunday April 26th . It stretched twelve long city blocks along one car lane from Union sq. 14th St. to 47th St. at the U.N where nuclear disarmament talks are now under way. The estimated number of marches was 5,000+.

Marchers came from various areas of the U.S. There was International participation also. The Japanese contingent was by far the largest ( more Japanese participants than US participants), with some people also from Belgium, France and Korea, who joined the march. At the U.N. a massive rally was held. There were speakers, dancers and singers. Petitions signed by over 6 million people was delivered to the U.N. demanding an end to nuclear weapons.

There were no mainstream media T.V. mobile units to record this march for the public. Once again Americans are made to remain ignorant of peace movement events going on around them.

Baltimore Residents protest city's planned water shut-offs

A couple of dozen protesters rallied outside City Hall on Monday to call on officials to reverse a decision to begin turning off service for water customers who are behind on their bills.

Sharon Black, a Waverly woman who helped organize the protest, called on the city to delay any water shut-offs. The protesters want the City Council to investigate the reasons why the delinquent water customers are late in paying.

"We're in a state of shock and outrage," said Black, an activist with the People's Power Assembly. "People aren't paying their water bills, because they can't afford to."

Soros Group Advocates Violence Against Cops in Baltimore

The article highlights a story from The Atlantic’s Ta-Nehisi Coates, in which the author argues that protestor violence is an apt response to the violence perpetrated by police on residents of Baltimore throughout the years.

When nonviolence is preached by the representatives of the state, while the state doles out heaps of violence to its citizens, it reveals itself to be a con. And none of this can mean that rioting or violence is “correct” or “wise,” any more than a forest fire can be “correct” or “wise.” Wisdom isn’t the point tonight. Disrespect is. In this case, disrespect for the hollow law and failed order that so regularly disrespects the community.

In the wake of the destruction, other leftist publications such as Salon also got on the violence-against-police bandwagon, running a headline that reads, “Baltimore’s violent protesters are right: Smashing police cars is a legitimate political strategy,” which called non-violence a sometimes “futile tactic.”

Turning America into a Battlefield: A Blueprint for Locking Down the Nation

A standing army—something that propelled the early colonists into revolution—strips the American people of any vestige of freedom. How can there be any semblance of freedom when there are tanks in the streets, military encampments in cities, Blackhawk helicopters and armed drones patrolling overhead?

It was for this reason that those who established America vested control of the military in a civilian government, with a civilian commander-in-chief. They did not want a military government, ruled by force. Rather, they opted for a republic bound by the rule of law: the U.S. Constitution.

Baltimore, and America's double standard on violence

Riots are always an interesting time to observe the mainstream press, because it's often when the mask of "objectivity" slips, and anchors and pundits slip into blatant editorializing. On CNN, Wolf Blitzer was stunned and outraged that the police weren't there to protect property. Don Lemon grilled the Maryland governor and Baltimore mayor over their insufficient aggressiveness in confronting the riot. Even David Simon, the creator of The Wire, told rioters to "go home."

Perhaps the best summary of this worldview came from Howard Kurtz, the media correspondent for Fox News, who wrote a tweet simultaneously bemoaning the rioting while implicitly absolving the police of wrongdoing for Gray's death:

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am glad the violence is declining and was not echoed in other cities. That being said, let us not forget that the people of Baltimore and indeed all of the nation have a legitimate concern about the out-of-control police brutality committed by police of all colors against Americans of all colors. Hillary is already grandstanding this incident demanding a bond of trust and respect between the people and the police, but trust must be earned, not demanded, and respect is a two-way street. The police must show they respect the American citizen and in particular our rights under the Constitution before they can expect respect back.

Baltimore Unrest: Police Credit Curfew as Overnight Violence Subsides

Baltimore police credited an overnight curfew with helping to restore some level of order in a community shaken by violence and unrest.

Law enforcement fired smoke canisters and pepper balls after some protesters defied the curfew, which went into effect at 10 p.m. and continued until 5 a.m. By midnight, 10 arrests had been made, Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said.

"Curfew is, in fact, working," Batts said. "The city is stable. We'd like to keep it that way."

Embracing the Saudi War on Yemen

Saudis have been helped by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has relied on the powerful Israel Lobby and his own rhetoric to divert the U.S. Congress from a focus on Al-Qaeda and its hyper-brutal spinoff, the Islamic State, to Iran, which both Saudi Arabia and Israel have designated their primary regional enemy.

Fearful of further offending the powerful Saudi-Israeli alliance, President Obama is deploying the U.S. Navy to seal off poverty-stricken Yemen so the Saudi air force has free rein to pummel its regional rivals from the air while the population faces a humanitarian crisis on the ground, reports Robert Parry.

Just 42 percent of the residents in Freddie Gray’s neighborhood are employed

Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man who died in police custody, was born into Sandtown’s literally toxic ghetto, according to a lawsuit he and his two sisters filed in 2008. The Sun’s Jean Marbella writes that the family claimed damaging lead levels in their blood as children led to “multiple educational, behavioral and medical problems.” They settled in 2010 for an undisclosed sum.

Whether because of lead or even more intractable structural problems, Sandtown has been unable to shake the kinds of economic woes prevalent in other predominantly African-American inner city neighborhoods.

Here are the terrifying facts about Sandtown, according to U.S. Census tract data.

— Just 42 percent of residents are employed, compared to the national average of 59 percent.

— Thirty-three percent of residential properties are vacant or abandoned.

— Just 54 percent of its residents are even in the labor force, even though 77 percent of residents are between 20 and 64 years old.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If you don't have a healthy environment, meaningful education, leading to meaningful jobs and the ability to better yourself, you are in a very, very bad situation indeed.

Hopelessness, exacerbated by police brutality, will ultimately lead to violence.

And it is very obvious that Baltimore PD has some industrial strength soul-searching to do about not letting officers, sworn to uphold the law, break it by brutalizing suspects, and not following standards and practices to the letter.

The late President Kennedy said it best: "When peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable."

SB 277 will unleash “medical civil war” in California as parents demand doctors be arrested for felony assault

It is a fundamental and non-debatable scientific truth that all vaccines have inherent health risks. The spectrum of harm varies widely, from small skin rashes to full-blown neurological damage and lifelong debilitation. Some children have even been killed by vaccines, and the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program has paid out nearly $3 billion to families of children who were provably injured by vaccines in America.

Baltimore: The Rioters were Set Up

The police stood down and refrained from their usual brutality, for the cameras. Those rioters were set up. They were incited by a brutal unprovoked murder of one of their friends and left to destroy some insured property that was dispensable to the establishment. It served the more important purpose of “demonstrating” how “thuggish” these rioters are….not.

Baltimore riots: Security beefed up, cleanup starts after looting, fires

Charred cars and buildings. Hospitalized police officers. Looted and damaged businesses. No school, because it might not be safe for children to go outside.

That was the stark reality Tuesday after a day and night that saw 202 arrests, 144 vehicle fires and 19 structure fires, according to city spokesman Kevin Harris.

"What happened ... destroyed so much of the progress that the people who actually live here have been working for," said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, calling Monday "a very dark day for our city."

“Brett, speaking only for myself, I agree with your point that the principle of peaceful, non-violent protest and the observance of the rule of law is of utmost importance in any society. MLK, Gandhi, Mandela, and all great opposition leaders throughout history have always preached this precept. Further, it is critical that in any democracy investigation must be completed and due process must be honored before any government or police members are judged responsible.

Censorship at Southampton University - An Analysis by Lawrence Davidson

Actually, as long as Israel insists on being “a Jewish state” instead of a democratic state of all its citizens, it must walk the path of apartheid. And, it can only get away with that through successfully maintaining an exceptional status - a status that puts it above international law.
