Anti-Donald Trump protesters block Ariz. road, chain themselves to stalled cars to keep candidate away from rally

Anti-Donald Trump protesters blocked an Arizona highway and created a traffic nightmare in an attempt to keep the GOP frontrunner and his supporters from attending a Saturday rally in Fountain Hills.

The Trump haters parked their cars in the middle of the three-lane road that leads to Fountain Park — where the candidate was scheduled to speak at 2 p.m. EST — and some protesters even chained themselves to their vehicles to slow down cops’ efforts to clear the blockade.

Illinois College Will Stop Arresting Students For Passing Out Constitution

An Illinois college has reversed its position and will allow students to pass out copies of the U.S Constitution on campus.

It’s a good move, since the Alliance Defending Freedom threatened to sue them if they didn’t.

Under the old policies, students were threatened with arrest if they passed out the founding documents on the campus of the College of DuPage.

The exchange between a police officer and student Joseph Enders, captured on video, shows the officer telling Enders that, under campus policies, he needs a permit to offer the Constitution to passing students.

America’s disturbing voter-turnout crisis: How inequality extends to polling place — and why that makes our country less fair

Automatic voter registration isn’t the sexiest way to start a political revolution, but it may be the most effective. The United States lags behind the rest of the rich world in turnout, but it leads the rich world in disparity in turnout across income and education levels, which has profound effects on policy. This so-called “turnout skew” further biases policy towards the rich, even more than it already would be because of the structural advantages the rich enjoy. Bolstering turnout could lead to a self-reinforcing feedback loop in the opposite direction.

The U.S. Government Is Still Fighting to Bury the Senate Torture Report

Government lawyers on Thursday continued their fight to bury the Senate Torture Report, arguing before the D.C. District Court of Appeals that the 6,700-page text could not be released on procedural grounds.

When the 500-page executive summary of the report was released more than a year ago, it prompted international outcry and renewed calls for prosecution. The summary describes not only the CIA’s rape and torture of detainees, but also how the agency consistently misrepresented the brutality and effectiveness of the torture program.

But many of the most graphic details are in Volume III of the full report, which former Senate Intelligence Committee chair Dianne Feinstein has said contains “excruciating” details on “each of the 119 known individuals who were held in CIA custody.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This report should be released, and immediately.

Americans deserve to know what the CIA has done with their tax dollars, and in their names.

U.N. says Saudi-led bombing of Yemen market may be international crime

The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen may be responsible for "international crimes", a category that includes war crimes and crimes against humanity, the top U.N. human rights official said on Friday.

Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, condemned an air strike in Yemen this week and added that the coalition was "responsible for twice as many civilian casualties as all other forces put together".

More than 6,000 people have been killed since the coalition campaign began a year ago to fight Iranian-allied Houthis and forces loyal to ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh and to restore the president they ousted, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Tuesday's strike near Mustaba in northwest Yemen hit an outdoor market and killed more than 100, a provincial health director and a U.N. official in Sanaa said, making it one of the deadliest attacks in the war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government has enabled this indiscriminate slaughter of civilians, to bring Al-Hadi back to power in Yemen; the US government can stop it.

But BOTH the US government and the Saudi government have much to answer for, in terms of these war crimes against civilians.

The rising oil rig count could signal worry for all bullish investors. The increase may be trivial; however, it indicates that crude oil and the rig count are directly proportional. It is an indication that drillers are having second thoughts on production cuts after the recent rally in crude oil.

Despite a significant decline in the rig count data from last year’s levels, US oil production continues to remain steady. The WTI closed down 1.89% at $39.44 per barrel, while its counterpart, Brent Crude declined by 0.82%, closing in at $41.2 on Friday.

Miss. lawmaker callously dismisses woman asking about corporate tax cut because she’s ‘not a native’

Republican state lawmaker from Mississippi rebuffed a constituent asking about a measure that would eliminate the state corporate franchise tax, WDAM-TV reported on Friday.

“The people of our Great State overwhelmingly share my same or similar views on Government responsibility. I appreciate you going to the trouble to share yours with me, but quite frankly, and with all due respect, I could care less,” Rep. Karl Oliver said in his email to Becky Guidry.

Guidry contacted Oliver regarding Senate Bill 2858, which would also include some income tax cuts. According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, the measure — which already passed in the state Senate — would implement $575 million in tax cuts over the next 15 years.

PR firm accused of helping Saudi Arabia 'whitewash' its human rights record

One of the world’s largest advertising agencies has been accused of helping Saudi Arabia “whitewash” its record on human rights following the kingdom’s largest mass execution for more than 30 years.

A US subsidiary of Publicis Groupe, the French media conglomerate that owns UK brands such as Saatchi & Saatchi, distributed an article in which the kingdom’s foreign minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir implicitly attempted to justify the execution of 47 people.

A number of political protesters and at least four juveniles are believed to have been among those killed in January. Human rights groups are increasingly worried that three more juveniles – including Ali al-Nimr, who was sentenced to death aged 17 for taking part in a pro-democracy protest – are due to be executed imminently.

Saudi Arabia issues extraordinary speech defending human rights record

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to remember that for the house of Saud, and the Saudi government, the whole concept of democracy is an anathema, and supporting it is a "terroristic act."

And I am reasonably certain that the Chairs on the board of this advertising agency would have had their consciences surgically removed, in order to earn what had to be a sizable fee, for attempting to defending the indefensible.

Too bad, folks;because anyone who knows anything about how the Saudi government and royalty operate were lining bird cages with this article, because it had absolutely zero basis in fact.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION DENIED OR CENSORED INFORMATION IN 77% OF FOIA REQUESTS DURING 2015

The Obama administration set a record for the number of times its federal employees told disappointed citizens, journalists and others that despite searching they couldn’t find a single page requested under the Freedom of Information Act, according to a new Associated Press analysis of government data.

In more than one in six cases, or 129,825 times, government searchers said they came up empty-handed last year.Such cases contributed to an alarming measurement: People who asked for records under the law received censored files or nothing in 77 percent of requests, also a record. In the first full year after President Barack Obama’s election, that figure was only 65 percent of cases.

The new data represents the final figures on the subject that will be released during Obama’s presidency. Obama has said his administration is the most transparent ever.

What a joke.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This administration has been just about as "transparent" as a brick wall.

The Pitchforks Are Coming… For Us Plutocrats

I’m not the smartest guy you’ve ever met, or the hardest-working. I was a mediocre student. I’m not technical at all—I can’t write a word of code. What sets me apart, I think, is a tolerance for risk and an intuition about what will happen in the future. Seeing where things are headed is the essence of entrepreneurship. And what do I see in our future now?

I see pitchforks.

At the same time that people like you and me are thriving beyond the dreams of any plutocrats in history, the rest of the country—the 99.99 percent—is lagging far behind. The divide between the haves and have-nots is getting worse really, really fast. In 1980, the top 1 percent controlled about 8 percent of U.S. national income. The bottom 50 percent shared about 18 percent. Today the top 1 percent share about 20 percent; the bottom 50 percent, just 12 percent.

American food manufacturer General Mills announced on Friday that it will begin labelling all its products in the United States that has genetically modified organisms as ingredients. WHAT IS COLD FUSION?

When hydrogen, the main element of water, is introduced to a small piece of the metal nickel or palladium, a reaction occurs that can create excess heat and transmutation products. Excess heat means more heat comes out of the system than went in to the system. The excess heat can make hot water and useful steam to turn a turbine and produce electricity.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. On Earth, hydrogen is found in water. An energy source from hydrogen is clean, with no carbon-dioxide CO2 emissions. In LENR reactions, only tiny amounts of the hydrogen are consumed and the metal is recyclable when spent.

Homeowner shoots and kills a teen burglar, families response "How (else) he going to get his money?"

WFOR-TV reports, relatives of a 17-year-old are angry a teenager was shot and killed by a homeowner who police say was protecting her property. The sister of the teen who died identified him as Trevon Johnson. She said he was a college student. “I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law - way beyond,” said Johnson’s cousin Nautika Harris to WFOR last week. Relatives said they don’t believe Johnson stole anything from the home but detectives would not confirm that. “You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he going to get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is a tragedy that this kid died like this; but people living in this area are scared to death of this kind of burglary, so they are arming themselves, and learning how to shoot, which apparently the home owner did with great efficiency.

But where were the family values which should have prevented this from happening in the first place?!? Apparently, for his cousin, he was absolutely justified in stealing to buy clothes for school.

Couldn't someone from school, maybe a counselor, talked to him, and taken him to somewhere where he could get free, or very inexpensive, clothing that looked good on him?!?

To me, the family failed him; any faith community with which he was involved failed him, and his school failed him.

I'm not condoning the burglary at all, but how many other Trevons out there could we possibly help before they turn to crime?!?

I am going to take a lot of flack for this, but I think we, at the community level, need to figure out how we can support families better to prevent future situations like this. A little loving intervention could have made all the difference here.

Iraq's Sadr spurns calls to drop sit-in over 'bastion of corruption'

Influential Iraqi Shi'ite Muslim cleric Moqtada al-Sadr rejected calls to cancel a planned sit-in on Friday at the gates of Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone, which he called "a bastion of support for corruption".He published a statement on his website on Thursday in response to politicians who asked him to drop the protest over concern that it could lead to violence near the sensitive district, which houses government offices and embassies.

Sadr called for the sit-in last week to press Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to replace cabinet ministers with technocrats unaffiliated with political parties in order to counter systemic political patronage that has abetted corruption.

Early on Friday, the Interior Ministry published a statement saying it had not authorized the sit-in but did not indicate how it would deal with any protesters who do show up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Does anyone else remember this guy, and the powerful effect he had on making sure that when US troops left, it was precisely on the date stipulated on the SOFA agreement between the US and the Iraq governments?!?

And remember what he said? He threatened that if the US military was not out of Iraq precisely on the day it was supposed to be, that they would all be "fair game" for the Mahdi militia, which he controlled?!?

With this call for peaceful protest, Sadr appears to be "pulling a Gandhi" here; But what if he doesn't get what he has demanded of the Iraqi government, how long would it take for him to "get the band back together", i.e., reconstitute the Mahdi militia?!?

The short answer is, not long at all.

And if that happens, what does that portend for the future of Iraq?!?

I certainly hope that SOMEONE in the White House, State Department, Pentagon, and Congress is losing sleep over this, because I sure the heck am!!

Pentagon chief: 'We don't want a draft'

Defense Secretary Ashton Carter on Thursday appeared to favor abolishing the draft, amid the debate over whether women should be forced to register.

“It stands to reason that you will reconsider the Selective Service System and its treatment of females in view of the Department of Defense policies and practices with respect to women,” Carter told the Senate Armed Services Committee. “But the second thing I’d like to say about the Selective Service System and the draft generally is this: We want to pick our people. We don’t want people forced to serve us.”

In December, Carter announced that all combat jobs in the military would be open to women with no exceptions.
Carter’s decision sparked a debate about how that affects the draft. In 1981, the Supreme Court ruled that women didn’t have to register because combat jobs were closed to them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am waiting, with a short-term egg timer in hand, for Carter to reverse his position the moment he realises that the US government doesn't have the troop strength to create a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia and/or China.

And the truth of it is, the US military doesn't, along with not having the weaponry, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to the next major war in which we get embroiled.

The FBI Wants Teachers To Go Stasi On American Kids

Finally, here’s the heart of the thing. The report continues to be carefully nonspecific and suggesting that most would-be violent people are not to be found by establishing a pattern. However, “students and educators are encouraged to convey their concerns and observations to trusted community partners, school resource officers, or a local law enforcement entity.” And “acting decisively” is important if a teacher sees that a student has turned terrorist.

Fundamentally, the FBI wants people not to profile, but as soon as someone fits the profile, they should call law enforcement. And that profile, fittingly, can include such asinine checkpoints as “feeling lost” or having some kind of mental health problem (welcome to America and its neurosis and depression). The FBI’s new teen website details more of the warning signs, which are predictably meaningless, yet menacing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And remember: school records now follow kids through their entire school lives, at this point in this creeping dystopia which has become the United States of America.

As reported at education.law.lawyers.com:

Most of us remember hearing one of our grade school or high school teachers say something like, "This is going on your permanent record!" You may have thought about it back then, but it's something easily forgotten about. Now that you're a parent, you may be wondering if your child has a "permanent" school record. Have a school law question? Get answers from local attorneys. It's free and easy. Ask a Lawyer Yes, she does. And odds are, yours is still around, too. What Is It? Practically everything about permanent student records is controlled by the laws of the state where the school is located. These laws are probably different in some ways from state to state, so be certain to check the laws in your area for specific details. Nonetheless, there are some things in common for most permanent school records. What's in the Record? You can expect to see some or all of these things in a permanent record: Basic information for identifying the student, such as her name, address and birth date, and also the names and addresses of her parents or legal guardians Academic records or "transcripts," including grades, classes or courses taken and completed, class rank, date and age the student advanced to the next grade or graduated, and scores on standardized tests, such as placement tests, ACT/SAT scores, and college entrance exams Attendance record Any accident reports or incidents or any health-related information on record, such as medication administered at school and/or with the help of a school nurse, like insulin or other long-term medications Results of any intelligence, aptitude, and psychological and personality tests the student took while at the school Teacher evaluations of the student's performance or abilities Disciplinary actions taken against the student, such as suspensions or expulsions, and the reasons for the actions taken, such as cheating, destroying school property and fighting with students or staff Awards and honors earned by the student The student's participation in school activities, such as sports, student government, etc. A record of who was given access to the permanent record and when As you can see, your permanent record is a lot like a resume; it gives quick and easy access to your highlights (and any lowlights) of the time spent at the school.

Europe’s Free-Speech Apocalypse Is Already Here

Europe’s silence in the face of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s hostile takeover of two of his country’s independent newspapers over the last weeks is being chalked up to the need to avoid jeopardizing Ankara’s finger in the dike of even more massive waves of Middle Eastern migration into the continent. But Europe’s cavalier attitude toward this kind of rising authoritarianism on its eastern border is more than just strategic indifference — it’s symptomatic of a steady erosion of core civil liberties within the EU itself.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a critical time for free, reasoned speech to be reverberating around the world, where people need to come together to solve the world's problems in an ethical and concrete way; not calling something out for what it is, is just plain wrong, and the deafening silence at Erdogan's increasing dictatorship, and the snuffing out of dissent, should be pointed out, logically, and the man named and shamed.

I don't know what you would call the country of Turkey at this moment; but it sure as heck is not a democracy.

Ten huge drug ripoffs that Big Pharma is campaigning to continue

When did you become aware of the obscene prices the pharmaceutical industry is charging for drugs? For many it was when a smirking Martin Shkreli, founder of Turing Pharmaceuticals, testified on the Hill in February about his price hike of the antiparasitic drug Daraprim from $13.50 to $750, after which he called lawmakers “imbeciles” in a tweeted goodbye.

For others it was the roll-out of Gilead Sciences hepatitis C drug Sovaldi in 2014 at $84,000 for a 12-week course of treatment.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And there IS a question I will ask, henceforward, when I go to a health care professional, and they are about to prescribe a medication for me.

And that question is, "Are you being compensated by the drug company which manufactures the drug you are prescribing for me?!?" And that is really important, because many doctors are guilty of this practice.

As reported at propublica.com in 2010:

Drug companies say the millions of dollars they pay physicians for speaking and consulting justly compensates them for the laudable work of educating their colleagues. But a series of lawsuits brought by former employees of those companies allege the money often was used for illegal purposes — financially rewarding doctors for prescribing their brand-name medications. Impact What the New ‘Collaborative Media’ Can Mean Our Database Search through nearly 15 million records to see if your doctor has received money from a drug or device company. Search for your physician. Use the Data Get the data that powers this investigation. A complete, digital download is available for purchase in the Data Store. In several instances, the ex-employees say, the physicians were told to push “off-label” uses of the drugs — those not approved by the U.S. regulators — a marketing tactic banned by federal law. In the past three years alone, pharmaceutical companies have anteed up nearly $7 billion for settlements in cases such as one filed by Angela Maher, a former drug sales rep for Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical. Maher sued the company in Massachusetts federal court in 2003, alleging it pushed an anti-seizure drug for 27 off-label uses. She said company officials rigorously tracked whether their payments to physicians were worthwhile. Maher said she would regularly hear commentary from her boss after a physician spoke at a dinner program: “‘After he talked last week, our sales went up 8 percent’ or ‘I listened to doc ABC and he barely mentioned’” the drug. The company settled for $81 million earlier this year and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of misbranding a drug; Maher was awarded $3 million. Allegations in other whistleblower lawsuits provide a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the drug marketers: -- Allergan, the maker of Botox, created faux advisory boards solely “to reward hundreds of its top injectors,” federal prosecutors charged this month. More than 200 doctors, for example, were put up at an oceanfront resort in Newport Beach, Calif., in 2005 and 2006 and paid $1,500 to listen to presentations, according to their sentencing memorandum. Allergan settled with the government for $600 million last month and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for misbranding Botox. Allergan said in a statement that it is “committed to conducting its business with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws.” -- Forest Laboratories created “preceptorship” programs in which physicians were paid up to $1,000 each to allow a sales rep to spend time observing their practice. “In reality, Forest sales representatives used the preceptorships to induce physicians to prescribe [anti-depressants] Celexa and Lexapro,” according to a 2009 complaint filed by federal attorneys in Massachusetts. The reps filled out “return on investment” forms to justify the payments from 1999 until 2003. One rep noted that a psychiatrist’s prescription “numbers were trending up,” and “we need to keep a good thing going as long as we are still getting this kind of growth,” the complaint said. A Forest subsidiary pleaded guilty to one felony and two misdemeanors and the company paid $313 million in criminal and civil fines. In a statement, Forest’s CEO said the firm had improved its “compliance program since the events at issue in this investigation, which occurred a number of years ago.” -- In a 2005 lawsuit pending in Pennsylvania , Wyeth Pharmaceuticals is accused of hiring speakers until 2003 based on how often they prescribed the kidney transplant rejection drug Rapamune. “Wyeth management was able to exclude speakers who did not promote Rapamune, and reward those who did so with repeated speaking engagements and resulting honoraria,” according to an amended complaint filed this year by two former sales reps.

Please don't think for one second that this practice does not continue.

COPS CRIMINALLY CHARGE DJ FOR PLAYING NWA’S ‘F*CK THA POLICE’

Is the United States turning into a police state? Incidences like this certainly make it seem that way.

A popular music DJ has just been charged with disorderly conduct for nothing more than playing NWA.’s classic ‘F*ck tha Police’ song, while cops conducted a “raid” on a club for having “too many people in attendance.”

MassLive reported that the incident took place when police officers from Westfield, Massachusetts found themselves called to get ride of 350 people who had exceeded the 160-capacity limit for the club in question.

The place where the music was being Shenanigans Pub.

Kashawn Harris, AKA DJ Boogy, couldn’t believe the ridiculousness of the police raiding a place for having a few more people than the fire department would like to see.

So he began spinning the famous NWA track, which led to the officers giving charging the 25-year-old with disorderly conduct.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, I get the issue of overcrowding, and it can be a real public safety issue.

But to charge this guy for attempting to start a "riot"?!?

Please, give me a break!

Although I am a primarily Christian composer, this is a free speech issue, pure and simple. I hope his attorney defends him on those grounds.

And if ALL police around the country were treating ALL of its citizens with respect and dignity, this lyric would never have been created in the first place.

This is simply a reflection of anger expressed as a song, and it is no bloody wonder that it has such a resonance with many of the dispossessed in this country.

IRATE LEFTIST INSISTS WHITE FILM MAKER NEEDS PERMISSION TO FILM “WOMEN OF COLOR” AT PUBLIC PROTEST

The film maker approaches a woman holding a Mexican flag and asks her what would happen if an American attempted to fly a U.S. flag at a protest in Mexico.

“What would happen to them?” he asks the woman.

“Some crazy sh*t,” she responds.

The footage then cuts to an angry white woman who attempts to block the film maker from recording the woman with the Mexican flag.

The woman quickly becomes irate and offended on behalf of the Mexican woman, pointing a camera in the man’s face and demanding to know his address.

“I wish somebody could come save me from you right now,” jokes the man.

“Right, well nobody has to save you because you’re a f**king white man who gets to do what he wants to in this space, so I’m saying no, you do not have permission to walk around videotaping women of color,” the woman barks.

Apparently, she thinks that permission is required to film people who are taking part in a protest in a public area.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is unfortunate in the extreme, and politicians love this, because it is polarizing this country, and removing focus away from the people who generally got this country into the mess it is; and that is the damned politicians themselves!!

And to ALL leaders of faith communities in this country; what we need here is dialogue, not monologues of accusations; then, we have to look at the issues we all have to fix, and start fixing them, one by one, TOGETHER.

Hillary Has an NSA Problem

Now, over two months later, I can confirm that the contents of Sid Blumenthal’s June 8, 2011 email to Hillary Clinton, sent to her personal, unclassified account, were indeed based on highly sensitive NSA information. The Agency investigated this compromise and determined that Mr. Blumenthal’s highly detailed account of Sudanese goings-on, including the retelling of high-level conversations in that country, was indeed derived from NSA intelligence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The important element to this story is that those top secret documents were on isolated networks, not connected to the regular internet. There is no way those documents could "accidentally" be emailed to Hillary's server. Someone copied those documents onto a flash drive and walked them outside the secure area, then copied them onto Hillary's server.

Poll: Donald Trump Hits 65 Percent in New York, More than 50 Percent Ahead of Ted Cruz

The poll of New York state, conducted by Boston’s Emerson College, has Trump dominating his only two remaining competitors in the Empire State with 65 percent of Republicans there backing him. Only 12 percent back Sen. Ted Cruz , Trump’s closest competitor, and just one percent support Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

How Trump Rebranded the GOP

He's the greatest brander of his time, but he can't take all the credit for this one: The party had to destroy its old brand first.
***
Trump accomplished this rebranding so fast that Republicans still don’t seem to understand what happened to them. We’ve heard him say it many times in recent months—he’s defined the race, whether the issue is immigration or trade or corporate tax inversions, which even Hillary Clinton has taken up as a cause. Trump’s favorite locution: "If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t even be talking about [fill in the blank].” Or as his daughter Ivanka put it recently to Breitbart: “From Day One, my father set the agenda for what the whole party is talking about.”

Leaked Pentagon Documents: The US Government Finally Admits That the People They Armed in Syria Have Committed Genocide

Prior to 2012, ISIS, as we know them, did not exist. So how did this unknown group of psychopathic killers gain such notoriety so quickly?

Leaked Pentagon documents and News Anchor Ben Swann from WGCL Atlanta, explain exactly what happened.

A plan to create and arm an active resistance to the Assad regime was put in place four years ago, and the result was a radical group of jihadists who, in turn, morphed into ISIS, all thanks to the United States.

These leaked Pentagon documents are not the only evidence that the United States created and aided ISIS either. Just last year, renowned journalist Seymour Hersh interviewed members of the DoD who confirmed the establishment knew about the monster they were creating but chose to conveniently ignore it.

Erdogan: Democracy, Freedom Have ‘Absolutely No Value Any Longer’

Concerns about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s authoritarian leanings have been at the fore in the nation’s political dialogue since he assumed the presidency, and appear to have been well founded, as in a televised speech today he declared “democracy,, freedom, and the rule of law have absolutely no value any longer.”

Rather, Turkey is about one thing in 2016, and that’s wars, with Erdogan insisting anyone who supports his wars is a friend and anyone “on the opposite side are our enemy,” insisting the nation will treat them all with an iron fist.

Erdogan also vowed to turn the nation’s military against the opposition HDP, which opposes the war against the Kurds, saying that “wherever you run, our soldiers, police, and village guards will find you there and do what is necessary.” Erdogan had previously pushed for the HDP’s parliamentarians to lose their legal immunity so they could be charged as terrorists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yes, the recent bombings in Ankara were horrific, and should be universally condemned.

But the genocide in Cizre was no proper response at all to this violence, and will only beget more violence.

Erdogan, by cracking down the way he has, and not allowing more political dialogue to heal the Turkish/Kurdish divide, is on his way to instigating a civil war in Turkey; and that is the last thing Turkey needs right now.

Congressman calls on bankers to ‘neuter’ Elizabeth Warren — the ‘Darth Vader’ of Wall Street

Senior House Financial Services Committee member, Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) told a conference of bankers Wednesday morning that they needed to “find a way to neuter” Sen. According to Allied Progress, Luetkemeyer is an old friend to the banking and predatory lending industry, receiving more than $1 million in campaign donations from the industry.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So how, precisely, would Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer have Senator Warren "neutered"?!?

Funding a candidate with resources so intense that Warren could not possibly win another election?!?

Or, perhaps, did he have something more deadly in mind, let's say an assassination made to look like a legitimate "accident"?!?

Behind it were the George Soros-funded MoveOn.org, Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street, Hispanics hoisting Mexican flags and cop-haters carrying filthy signs to show their contempt for police.

People for Bernie, a pro-Sanders outfit, tweeted, “[This] wasn’t just luck. It took organizers from dozens of organizations and thousands of people to pull off. Great work.”

Now, Sanders did not order this assault on the civil rights of Trump supporters. But MoveOn.org has endorsed him and “Bernie” signs and T-shirts were everywhere among the disrupters. Hence, he has a duty to disavow this conduct and those who engaged in it.

If Sanders refuses, he condones it, and is morally complicit.

Can one imagine how the media would pile on Trump if working-class white males in Trump T-shirts invaded a Hillary Clinton rally and shut it down?

U.S. should stop subsidizing bad Israeli policies

America is practically bankrupt, yet Israel remains a multibillion dollar dependent. The United States can’t afford to continue subsidizing its well-off friends. And Israel, which spends heavily both to expand state regulation and occupy Palestinian lands, doesn’t need American support.

Timothy McVeigh's lawyer endorses Merrick Garland, who prosecuted his client in OKC Bombing Case

The lawyer who 'represented' Timothy McVeigh in the Oklahoma City Bombing case has heaped glowing praise on U.S. Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, claiming "he’s above reproach. He has integrity" and that "I agreed with everything the president said about Judge Garland." Attorney Stephen Jones also urged his state's Republican Senators to confirm Garland. You just can't make this stuff up. Terry Nichols attorney Michael Tigar, on the other hand, recalled Garland as being a mere distant figure in the case. "Garland showed up for a bail hearing ... and that’s the only time I can remember him doing anything in the case. He had been sent out from Washington, D.C., and that was it. How he got the reputation as having a great deal to do with it — you couldn’t prove it to me," Tigar said.

Why BDS Cannot Lose: A Moral Threshold to Combat Racism in Israel

snip: “The whole world is against us,” is quite a common justification in Israel itself, of the international reaction to Israel’s Apartheid practices. With time, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and feeds on past notions that are no longer applicable. No matter how many companies divest from Israel – the latest being the world’s largest security corporation G4S – and, no matter how many universities and churches vote to boycott Israel, Israeli society remains entrenched behind the slogan and its disconcerting sense of victimization.

Many Israelis believe that their country is a ‘villa in a jungle’ – a notion that is constantly enforced by top Israeli leaders. Right-wing Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is purposely advancing the crippling fear in his own society. Unable to see the unmistakable crimes he has carried out against Palestinians for years, he continues to perpetuate the idea of the purity of Israel and the wickedness of everyone else.

Bergdahl Explains Why He Walked Off Base

He wanted to draw attention to bad leadership

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said he left a post in Afghanistan in 2009 to draw attention to what he saw as bad decisions by officers above him, according to documents released Wednesday that also show he was diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. Bergdahl told a general who investigated the case that he hoped to cause an alarm by leaving his post, then walk to a larger base in Afghanistan so he could have an audience with a top commander. "It was a self-sacrifice thing," Bergdahl said, according to the transcript of a 2014 interview with Maj. Gen. Kenneth Dahl. He said he planned to turn up at the larger base within days and refuse to talk to anybody but a general. Instead, he wound up in enemy captivity for years and now faces charges including desertion.

In the interview, Bergdahl expressed misgivings about how he and other soldiers were sent to help retrieve a disabled armored vehicle before encountering explosives and enemy fire that turned a six-hour mission into one lasting several days.>>>

Thomas DiMassimo’s attorney does not think his client will be charged in state court, but that the federal misdemeanor charge will go forward.

“I don’t think he’s going to be charged in both jurisdictions,” said Jon Paul Rion, who added that he didn’t think DiMassimo would be in Dayton Municipal Court on Tuesday. “It’s clear that Thomas is simply a college student who, in his mind, was simply engaging in a form of political speech and making a statement, in his own mind.

“He is not a member of any organization. Those statements (of DiMassimo’s possible ties to ISIS) are completely without basis.”

The Same Gop Who Made Trump Pledge to Support the Nominee Is Plotting Against Its Likely Nominee

The GOP still has many tricks up its sleeves that it could use to keep the nomination out of Trump’s hands. For now, the details are mostly arbitrary and theoretical.

But it remains to be seen how far they will actually go in using their leverage to alter the results of this race, even as a coordinated effort is underway. Suffice to say, the political system is quite gamed, and tilted heavily towards a house win – the House that GOP built.

Regardless, things have gotten rather ridiculous and hypocritical.

Israel Confiscates Large Tract of Palestine Land in West Bank

Israel announced on Army Radio today that they have “appropriated” a large tract of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, confiscating some 579 acres (2.3 square kilometers), which NGO Peace Now referred to as the largest single confiscation of territory in years.

The territory seized is near the Palestinian city of Jericho, and is reportedly slated to be used in the expansion of Jewish settlements in the area, to further prevent the potential of forming a contiguous Palestinian state in the future.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the move as illegal, and urged Israel to immediately reverse the seizure of Palestinian territory in the interest of a comprehensive peace deal. US officials also said the seizure was “fundamentally undermining” the peace process.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is just about as useful as are lactating glands on a steer, when it comes to dealing with Israel, on these Israeli land confiscation issues; and the US government silently watches, and says, and does, next to nothing.

How in heaven's name can there possibly be a peace process, when Israel has declared war on the Palestinian people, which manifests as land annexation, and serial genocide?!?

The short answer is, there is no peace process, period, end of discussion.

AMERICA HAS NEARLY 1/2 MILLION PEOPLE IN JAIL WHO HAVEN'T BEEN CONVICTED OF COMMITTING A CRIME

Every year, 636,000 people walk out of prison gates, but people go to jail over 11 million times each year, 451,000 people in jails haven't even been convicted.

Some have just been arrested and will make bail in the next few hours or days, and others are too poor to make bail and must remain behind bars until their trial.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What's wrong with a system which allows this to happen?!?

EVERYTHING!!
