Dumped: Despite popularity, liberal blogger fired by Washington Post

"What one finds virtually nowhere in the establishment press are those who criticize Obama not in order to advance their tawdry right-wing agenda but because the principles that led them to criticize Bush compel similar criticism of Obama. Rachel Maddow is one of the few prominent media figures who will interview and criticize Democratic politicians "from the Left".... In general, however, those who opine from the Maddow/Froomkin perspective are a very endangered species."

The O'Reilly Procedure

Bill O'Reilly has been brought low by the same process that afflicted Jerry Springer. Once respected journalists, they sold their souls for higher ratings, and follow their siren song. Springer is honest about it: "I'm going to Hell for what I do, and I know it," he's likes to say. O'Reilly insists he is dealing only with the truth. When his guests disagree with him, he shouts at them, calls them liars, talks over them, and behaves like a schoolyard bully.

Wanted: 'Hope' for Iran

On the other hand there's Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Holocaust-denier and nuclear aspirant, who on Friday was declared the winner of an election so transparently rigged that the only serious question is whether the regime even bothered to stuff the ballot boxes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The only thing transparent here is the bias of this propaganda.

‘Nightly News’: Don’t Let the Mild Weather Fool You, There’s Still Global Warming

With a cooler-than-usual winter and a mild temperatures leading up to the beginning of summer, global warming alarmists are finding they are losing steam in the debate. But “NBC Nightly News” won’t give up the fight.

FLASHBACK - How the spooks took over the news

There is very good reason to believe that that letter was a fake – and a significant one because there is equally good reason to believe that it was one product among many from a new machinery of propaganda which has been created by the United States and its allies since the terrorist attacks of September 2001.

For the first time in human history, there is a concerted strategy to manipulate global perception. And the mass media are operating as its compliant assistants, failing both to resist it and to expose it.

MEDIA PROPAGANDA ON IRAN

Webmaster's Commentary:

BBC does it again! Fresh from reporting the collapse of WTC-7 before it actually happened, BBC captions the photo of a rally in Tehran as "pro-Moussavi". Too bad the wider view shown in the LA Times shows it is actually a rally for Ahmadinejad.

Media Smearing of Truth Movement Reaching a Crescendo

Recent months have seen numerous breakthroughs for the truth movement in the corporate media, from Fox 26's interview with Richard Gage of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth to 9/11 Press For Truth being aired on local television in Colorado to coverage of this year's Bilderberg conference in major British newspapers. Despite these positive developments, however, primetime TV dramas are continuing to portray those skeptical of the official 9/11 story (a clear majority of the American public according to poll after poll) as deranged terrorists who are likely to commit acts of violence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Anyone think they will even take a respectful pause now that the so-called "Mastermind" of 9-11, Khalid Sheik Mohammed has said he was just making stuff up to stop the torture?

Extra! Extra! Hasbara inserts in US newspapers

Not quite on a par with the Clarion Fund’s smear-job film ‘Obsession‘ yet decidedly inappropriate is the news that the Jerusalem Post (New York edition) will now come as a free insert in thousands of copies of the tabloid New York Post.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now imagine the outcry if a free New York edition of the Tehran newspaper was being inserted into an American daily.

McGovern: Reporter Made It Up, I'm Voting NO

I just spoke with Keith Stern, communications director Rules Associate for Congressman Jim McGovern and asked him whether the report in Congress Now yesterday was true, that McGovern, who has been one of the most reliable members of Congress in opposing wars, would now be voting Yes on the war money.
Stern said: "That is absolutely untrue. We are trying to correct it. He is a No vote. We are asbsolutely livid about that. It could not be further from the truth. Frankly, the reporter just made it up. Congressman McGovern is a hard No vote and he will be voting No on the supplemental."

Are you ready for war with demonized Iran?

How much attention do elections in Japan, India, Argentina, or any other country, get from the US media? How many Americans and American journalists even know who is in political office in other countries besides England, France, and Germany? Who can name the political leaders of Switzerland, Holland, Brazil, Japan, or even China?

Yet, many know of Iran's President Ahmadinejad. The reason is obvious. He is daily demonized in the US media.

The Obama officials blocking accountability for Bush crimes

What possible justification is there to grant anonymity to someone to spout these clichéd and factually false insults? First, as I've documented numerous times and as Mayer herself well knows, the case against Brennan was not that he was "at the agency for the past ten years" or even that he had anything to do with the torture program, but rather that (as she herself documents later in the piece) he explicitly advocated and defended many of the worst torture techniques and other Bush abuses.

Holocaust Survivor: Museum shooter akin to suicide bomber

“By doing this, he [James von Brunn] gives worldwide notoriety to himself and his ideals of hatred,” said Hubert, who at 13 escaped Germany on a transport to England just weeks before World War II erupted. “He chooses martyrdom to glorify his hatred, similar to a suicide bomber.”

That sounds nice, but there are a few problems with the above-quote, not the least of which is the status of Mr. Hubert himself. The title of the article describes Mr. Sal Hubert as a “Holocaust Survivor,” but there’s one little problem with that classification. As noted in the above quote from the CNN article, Mr. Hubert escaped Germany on a transport to England just weeks before World War II erupted. So just exactly how does that qualify him as a Holocaust Survivor?

What Christians Don’t Know About Israel

American Jews sympathetic to Israel dominate key positions in all areas of our government where decisions are made regarding the Middle East. This being the case, is there any hope of ever changing U.S. policy? American Presidents as well as most members of Congress support Israel — and they know why. U.S. Jews sympathetic to Israel donate lavishly to their campaign coffers.

The answer to achieving an even-handed Middle East policy might lie elsewhere — among those who support Israel but don’t really know why. This group is the vast majority of Americans. They are well-meaning, fair-minded Christians who feel bonded to Israel — and Zionism — often from atavistic feelings, in some cases dating from childhood.

9/11 Truth Activist Sues Glenn Beck and Fox News for Defamation

The complaint will note that - on October 22, 2007 - Beck suggested that those identifying themselves as associated with the 9/11 truth movement are "dangerous" "anarchists" who deny the Holocaust, and are "the kind of group that Timothy McVeigh would come from."

The suit will also note that during Beck’s June 10th broadcast Beck linked the murder of the Washington D.C. holocaust museum guard with "9/11 truthers."

As I have previously written, suing people for defamation who falsely claim that 9/11 activists are terrorists could be a good way to stand up to these bullies.

US House to debate Ron Paul’s ‘Audit the Fed’ bill

Congressman Paul, in defense of his proposal to audit the bank which controls America’s currency, argues not just for transparency. He wants to close it down.

“Detractors have [...] argued that the Fed must remain immune from the political process, and that that more congressional oversight would distort their very important decisions,” Paul wrote in an editorial titled, ‘Audit the Fed, Then End It!’ “On the contrary, the Federal Reserve is already heavily entrenched in the political process, as the Fed chairman is a political appointee. High-level officials routinely make the rounds between positions at the Fed, member banks, Treasury and back again, taking care of friends and each other along the way.”

41 U.S. Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Agency Veterans Challenge the Official Account of 9/11

Following in the footsteps of well over 1,000 scientists and other professional groups who have already gone on record questioning the official theory, more than 40 U.S. Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Agency veterans have come forward to challenge the Government’s rendition of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Their behind-the-scenes knowledge and experience of sensitive and classified issues places them in a uniquely authoritative position. In this sense, their critical stance is all the more damning for the government. Conspicuously absent from the landscape are the mainstream media professionals, as they continue to provide cover for the government’s totally bankrupt theory and fail to report on landmark developments such as this.

Vampires and Werewolves and Ghouls, Oh My!

I go to the alternative news sites and I get one variation on ‘the news’. I go to the MSM and I get something very different. Reading in the MSM you get the impression that things are pretty much like they’ve always been and that the financial crisis must be pretty much over because you don’t hear much about it. I find this strange since millions of people have lost their jobs in the United States over recent years. Industries have collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes or are about to. Despite all of this, the celebration of cheap entertainments, celebrity worship and the tackiest creations I have ever seen are the bulk of the daily fare.

Did Bomb Bring Down French Airbus?

The corporate media reports that the Air France airbus that went down in the Atlantic was a victim of “updrafts and lightning” from tropical thunderstorms. “The Airbus A330-200 lost contact with controllers after hitting turbulence as it flew to Paris from Rio de Janeiro. The plane reported an electrical breakdown, then sent 10 automated distress signals and vanished,” reports Bloomberg.

Airbus said “it would be inappropriate for Airbus to enter into any form of speculation into the causes of the accident.”

Speculation, of course, if rife. However, the media is not reporting an incident that may have played into the airplane’s disappearance over the Atlantic.

US newspaper ad revenue slide continues

US newspaper advertising revenue fell more than 28 percent in the first quarter of the year with both print and online posting declines, according to the Newspaper Association of America.

The weak revenue figures for the first quarter come on the heels of the worst year ever for the US newspaper industry. The US newspaper industry has been struggling with competition from free classified ad sites such as Craigslist and the migration of readers to free sites online.

The industry has been hit by a wave of bankruptcies, job cuts and closures over the past few months including a bankruptcy filing by the Tribune Co., owner of the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other major papers.

Angry Jewish settlers rampage in West Bank

Jewish settlers rampaged in the West Bank on Monday, wounding four Palestinians, as they vented fury that Israel may answer US calls and dismantle outposts in the territory, officials said.

Jewish extremists blocked roads, hurled rocks at drivers, burned fields, cut down olive trees and opened fire towards Palestinians who tried to chase the trespassers from their fields in the northern West Bank, witnesses said.

POLISHING THE TURD!

Forget Christian Bale in Terminator Salvation - the new leader of the resistance is Dick Cheney. The former vice president, who this time has been sent from the past to save the future rather than the other way round, has had an astonishing week. He's dominated much of the news with his barnstorming defence of the previous administration's counter-terrorism strategy, and completely overshadowed President Obama's weak-kneed and exceedingly dull speech at the National Archives. He's even been getting a big boost in the polls even though he's not running for any kind of office. According to CNN, Cheney's up eight points since he left government, not bad for a figure the Left continues to demonize as the Antichrist.

CNN's "Climate Change" Dishonesty

How do they know what is caused by normal weather patterns and by "global warming"? Well, they don't. They just transfer deaths by storms and other things to the "global warming" category with the full knowledge that news organizations will pick up this stuff and declare the report to be ex cathedra.

I especially find the malaria deaths statistic interesting as we know that the main reason that so many people die each year of malaria in the Third World is because environmental groups have fought any use at all of DDT being sprayed in the homes of people (not in mass sprayings, as used to be the case).

Transcript of Richard Gage explaining controlled demolition on KMPH in Fresno

Is the dam beginning to break?

In this seven minute interview, Richard Gage, an architect for 20 years, is given plenty of time to explain the overwhelming evidence that the World Trade Center buildings were not brought down by the impact of the planes and ordinary office fires. Unlike the derision and condescension that typically greets 9/11 truth activists at mainstream outlets, these two anchors seem genuinely curious and open to the uncomfortable facts proving that explosives were detonated inside the Twin Towers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now, before everyone gets excited, remember that this is a FOX News Affiliate, so this broadcast was show only in Fresno, not nation-wide, and from the clock on screen, at 8:41 in the morning when viewership is very low.

Time for Transparency at Der Spiegel?

Syria was accused in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri of being the ‘real’ assassins. A massive international anti-Syria campaign was launched by the Bush Administration and Israel to demonize its government.

But things have changed. This weekend, a new exclusive, secret, investigative report showing the real assassins was published by the same weekly, Der Spiegel. Same author. Same editor. New target.

This time Der Spiegel’s Erich Follath claimed solo that the international committee investigating the assassination of former Prime Minister martyr Rafik Hariri has reached “surprising new secret conclusions”, this time pointing to Hezbollah.

May 28 07:41

Shhhh. Newspaper publishers are quietly holding a very, very important conclave today. Will you soon be paying for online content?

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would not mind paying for online content if they were truthful with us, but why pay for the government's lies?

123 Real Change

We all have been tirelessly screaming about issues related to Congressional leaders abdicating their main responsibility of 'oversight.' We have been outraged for way too long at seeing 'no' accountability whatsoever in many known cases of extreme wrongdoing. I, and many of you, believe that the biggest reason for this was, and still is, the lack of true journalism and media coverage -- which acts as the necessary pressure and catalyst for those spineless politicians on the Hill and in the Executive branch. Or, at least it's supposed to. So, in our book, the MSM has been the main culprit.

GE's Jeff Immelt: Global Warming 'Compelling'; Cap-and-Trade Most 'Effective' Way to Go

The General Electric CEO said he favored a cap-and-trade system to regulate carbon emissions versus a carbon tax.

New York Times Falsifies Obama-Netanyahu Meeting

The New York Times assigned to the story a campaign-trail reporter, Sheryl Gay Stolberg, whose political perceptions are bland and whose knowledge of Israeli-American relations is an antiseptic zero. At the newspaper of record, a thing like that does not happen by accident. They took the most anxiously awaited meeting with a foreign leader of President Obama's term thus far, and buried it on page 12. The coverage of a major event, which the same newspaper had greeted only the day before by running an oversize attack-Iran op-ed by Jeffrey Goldberg, has officially now shrunk to the scale of a smaller op-ed.

Internet Threatened by Censorship, Secret Surveillance, and Cybersecurity Laws

At a time of corporate dominated media, a free and open Internet is democracy's last chance to preserve our First Amendment rights without which all others are threatened. Activists call it Net Neutrality. Media scholar Robert McChesney says without it "the Internet would start to look like cable TV (with a) handful of massive companies (controlling) content" enough to have veto power over what's allowed and what it costs. Progressive web sites and writers would be marginalized or suppressed, and content systematically filtered or banned.

Well, once the “new” hate bill goes through the Senate which apparently it will, O. signs it, which apparently he will, the new justice is appointed (who will definitely be pro “hate”)and Megan’s bill becomes law, say next year , sites such as this will be gone. I suspect there will be one or perhaps even several test cases which will go to the supreme court where these laws will be upheld. Someone will then be put in jail and perhaps fined and that will be the end of it. No more internet as now exists.

The servers will be afraid of lawsuits/criminal charges and the whole thing will simply shut down. It will be back to Britney or whoever is the “Britney” of the moment.

Apologies for Evil

Jeffrey Goldberg has written one of the most obvious pieces of pure propaganda ever published in the New York Times. Purporting to report on the whys and wherefores of the state of Netanyahu's thinking, it is actually a devious advertisement directed at the American people to make Bibi's racist eliminationist violent supremacism seem as sympathetic as possible. A perfect analogy would be a 1938 op-ed explaining to the British people the reason for Hitler's thoughts. Goldberg can get away with this only because of the fact that 'dual loyalty' is still partly invisible to the American people - or so the proprietors of the New York Times would like to think - and thus he can still, barely, pass as an American writing for Americans.

SAVAGE: And yet here in America, I've had some people come to my aid. They see the bigger picture. Webmaster's Commentary:

No, the US media just understands that Americans are sick and tired of reading about Israel's latest whining, not to mention the endless movies and TV shows shoving the Holocaust(TM) down our throats. Skelton: Stop Bilderberg’s Nightmare Future At All Costs

London Guardian journalist Charlie Skelton, who began his coverage of the 2009 Bilderberg conference in a jovial and mocking manner, is now warning that the horrendous treatment dished out to him by both police and undercover spies is just a taste of what we can expect in our daily lives if we allow Bilderberg’s agenda, and specifically ID cards and implantable microchips, to be implemented.

Initially setting out to cover the event in a satirical way, Skelton left Greece yesterday chilled to the bone about how he had been harassed, detained and stalked for days on end by authorities merely for taking photographs of the hotel where Bilderberg members were staying.

A Matter of Trust

Because the story was so radioactive from Israel’s point of view, examining its progress as it made its way into the international media can serve as a sort of case study—it shows in real time how America’s media differ from other countries’ in their portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. And it helps illuminate the frequent charge that the American press is biased in Israel’s favor. Or against it, again, depending on your point of view.

Dear Corporate Media, Now That You're Connecting Torture to War, Can We Talk?

Now that you're beginning to talk about the fact that our country tortured people in order to elicit war rationales, can we talk for a minute? I'd like to point a few things out that you can verify without spending a dime on investigative reporting. First, we now know that we tortured in hopes of producing justifications for a war. Let's suppose that this was done in "good faith" and that the lies al Libi told to stop the pain were actually true. We know that the torturing preceded and exceeded the OLC memos, the OLC memos were themselves insane (I think that's the legal term for it, but you can ask your lawyers), and dozens of people were tortured until they were dead. Let's suppose none of that to be the case.

Webmaster's Commentary:

None of that would change the fundamental fact that we were not torturing for defense of this nation but for an offensive attack on another nation.

Last Tuesday I wrote of Australian Murdoch propagandist Andrew Bolt’s complaint about the Hawaiian senate creating an ‘Islam Day’ while only some 0.5% of Hawaiians are Muslims. I wondered if Bolt would be as quick to condemn such a move if had the Hawaiian senate created an ‘Israel Day’.

We’re about to find out. Yesterday, President Obama went one better by declaring that the month of May will be Jewish American Heritage Month for the whole of the US! Not just Hawaii. And the Jewish population in the US is only 1.78%.

I have no problems with Jewish Americans being recognised in this way so one has to wonder why Andrew Bolt has a problem with Islam getting the same recognition.

One doesn’t need to have it spelt out.

The biggest hurdle… even for those who know better is… how could something so big and prosperous, so ubiquitous; successful and routine in its operations be one great big lie machine? Living in the moral gutter in New York City and Writing for The New York Times

The New York Times - Mind - Benedict Carey - Stumbling Blocks on the Path of Righteousness In recent years, social psychologists have begun to study what they call the holier-than-thou effect. They have long known that people tend to be overly optimistic about their own abilities and fortunes — to overestimate their standing in class, their discipline, their sincerity.

“The problem with these holier-than-thou assessments is not only that we overestimate how we would have behaved,” Dr. Epley said. “It’s also that we blame every crisis or scandal on failure of character — you know, if we just fire all the immoral Wall Street bankers and replace them with moral ones, we’ll solve the problem.”

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling the transmission. If we wish to make you suffer, we will make up a pandemic. If we wish to make it softer, we will tell you it’s not so bad, after all. We will control your life. We will control your fears. We can provide images that will make you cringe. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next lifetime, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great hoax. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the White House and CIA to the deepest recess of your sheeple mind.

SWINE FLU LAYS ONE DOWN

Jay Severin, a punk posing as a pundit

Severin reportedly called illegal immigrants from Mexico "criminaliens," "primitives," and "leeches." Yes, he said that Mexico's leading exports were "venereal disease," "women with mustaches," and "swine flu."

The secret to his success - to the degree one could call a talk-radio host who traffics in venom and vitriol a success - was simple.

First, he appealed to the visceral grievances and resentments of his audience. Second, he flattered them by continually telling them they were the best and brightest, men and women of intelligence and discrimination.

What better salve for a listener's ego than to be told that his darker instincts are the very essence of red-, white- and blue-blooded patriotism?

Fox "News" Suggests Martial Law is Imminent

OK, so the main way that corporate media channels communicate with you is through the use of banners. You need not pay as much attention to what the talking heads say, their words are secondary as they babble on to reinforce the central point splashed across the banner. If you ever wanted to know what a channel like FOX (or CNN or MSNBC - they're all corrupt) wants you to think about a certain issue, well, its hidden in plain sight, written right there.

Dumbed down news drives down newspaper circulation

USA TODAY attributes its decline to a drop-off in hotel occupancy due to the economic slump plus a December price increase for non-subscription copies. Does that give you a clue? It’s famous for the easy-to-read, non-investigative, non-challenging and totally bland as a hotel room’s wallpaper writing with lots of pictures to boot, duh. It is the antithesis of what journalism should be -- and the opposite of what the Internet is, rich with facts, opinions, theories, history, politics, blogs, websites, search engines, conspiracy theories, truth, lies and videotape, name it.

As deadline looms, will NY Times shut The Boston Globe?

The New York Times Co, which bought the Globe for $1.1 billion in 1993, threatened at the start of April to shut the money-losing, award-winning broadsheet unless the paper's 13 unions agree by Friday to $20 million in concessions.

As the deadline approaches, the future of one of America's most acclaimed regional newspapers looks unclear, illustrating deepening problems for an industry that has few answers for an accelerating, long-term shift of advertising to the Internet.

Names of potential buyers have surfaced only to disappear nearly as quickly, some worrying about finding a profitable financial model for a newspaper that won 20 Pulitzer Prizes and dominates news coverage in the six-state New England region but has faced steep drops in circulation.

Swine flu source spawns wild theories

Finding the source of a new virus is key for scientists because understanding how it jumped to humans can lead to better drugs and vaccines as well as help prevent future outbreaks.

But one link experts probably won't be exploring is an Internet report charging that Mexican drug cartels working with al Qaeda unleashed the swine flu.

"The claim of the conspiracy theorists is that this new combination could not have occurred naturally, but this is not true," the New Scientist's biology editor Michael Le Page wrote.

The real victims of swine flu

As the media focus on a global sneezing fit, the plight of people in Congo, Somalia, Burma and China is being ignored.

...

For others, like the Israeli and Sri Lankan governments, flu victims provide a welcome diversion from military victims. While the Sri Lanka's Tamil-bashing president, Mahinda Rajapaksa, seems hell-bent on turning his country into a rogue state, Israel's army has been quietly insisting its not dissimilar operations in Gaza in January were entirely in accordance with international law.

Human Rights Watch heaped scorn on Israel's claims this week while the International Crisis Group warned that a "boiling" Gaza could soon explode again. But with the world busy holding its nose and examining the contents of its handkerchief, who's listening?

Doubt over INM future

Newspaper giant Independent News and Media (INM) warned today of “significant doubt” over whether the entire company can continue as a going concern.

INM, which owns more than 200 newspaper and magazine titles across the world including the Irish Independent, said it cannot pay a €200m bond which is due to mature on May 18.

The group said that while it still remained profitable it was now in danger of breaching the covenants on its borrowing facilities.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No doubt the corporate media will whine and blame the bloggers for their troubles, but the fact is that most of the corporate media made the choice to stand with those who lied us into wars of conquest, and the public no longer trusts them, even as the corporate media blasts us with new polls assuring us that the world loves our glorious leaders!

Bloomberg.com - Courtney Schlisserman - Home Prices in 20 U.S. Cities Declined at Slower Pace - The decline in home prices in 20 major U.S. cities slowed in February for the first time since 2007, amplifying signals that the market may be stabilizing.

The S&P/Case-Shiller index’s 18.6 percent decrease compares with a record 19 percent decline the month before. The gauge has fallen every month since January 2007, and year-over-year.

Newspapers give thumbs down to Government claims on ID cards
23 Apr 2009
National newspapers have portrayed Government policy on ID cards as illiberal, unsafe and being introduced by stealth according to a study published today.
The four-month snapshot of 280 newspaper articles and letters was carried out by Elisa Pieri, a researcher at The University of Manchester.
The study examined the coverage in four broadsheets and three tabloids, and all their Sunday editions.
It found that newspapers used a range of arguments to condemn the policy on ID cards. Humour and sarcasm were among the strategies used to undermine the arguments made by the Government.

Scarborough: ‘Rational fear’ justifies torture

In debating the use of torture on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski expressed a concern that “fear and reality will overtake morality.” However, host Joe Scarborough did not see that as a problem and seemed to believe it was completely appropriate for what he called “rational fear” to far outweigh morality.

The Pulitzer-Winning Investigation That Dare Not Be Uttered on TV

The New York Times' David Barstow won a richly deserved Pulitzer Prize yesterday for two articles that, despite being featured as major news stories on the front page of The Paper of Record, were completely suppressed by virtually every network and cable news show, which to this day have never informed their viewers about what Bartow uncovered. Here is how the Pulitzer Committee described Barstow's exposés:

Awarded to David Barstow of The New York Times for his tenacious reporting that revealed how some retired generals, working as radio and television analysts, had been co-opted by the Pentagon to make its case for the war in Iraq, and how many of them also had undisclosed ties to companies that benefited from policies they defended.

The Housing Crash: The Data Confirms a Downward Momentum

Why is the media misleading the public about housing? The housing market is crashing. There are no "green shoots" or "glimmers of hope"; the market is worn to a stump, it's kaput. Still, whenever new housing figures are released, they're crunched and tweaked and spin-dried until they tell a totally different story; a hopeful story about an elusive "light in the tunnel". But there is no light in the tunnel; it's a myth. The truth is, there's no sign of a turnaround or a "bottom" in housing at all; not yet, at least. The real estate market is freefalling and it looks like its got a long way to go. So why is the media still peddling the same "rose-colored" claptrap that put the country in this pickle to begin with?

New York Times Sales Dive While Local Internet Ads Are Up

How the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times Buried the Madoff Scandal for at Least Four Years

One dog that snoozed in its kennel was the New York Times. The Madoff scam was, of course, a local story for the Times, not least because Times editors undoubtedly knew many of Madoff’s victims socially. It is surprising, to say the least, that no Times person ever seems to have sensed there was something fishy going on in the Lipstick building. The Upper East Side was buzzing with rumors about his apparently sensational investment returns. Many a New York socialite either had money invested with him – and boasted of it in a loud stage whisper – or at least wanted to do so.

Because of the difficulty in refuting the solid evidence of explosives inside those three towers, defenders of the "official story" have resorted to ridicule the character of the article's publisher, and those engineers that trust physics over politics.

Instead of Bailing Out Mainstream Newspapers, How About Bailing Out Real Journalists?

Congress is again making noises about bailing out the newspaper industry.

But the mainstream papers - other than a select few, such as McClatchy - were largely cheerleaders for the Iraq war, and covered up (or - as in the case of the New York Times - delayed for a year so the story would not effect elections) crimes like illegal spying on Americans.

Instead of bailing out lapdogs for the government and mouthpieces for the wealthy, how about giving seed money to alternative journalists who actually report the news without pulling punches?

Digital World: What creeps under the Internet rocks

For example, one of the premier internet anti-Semites runs his site (and home business) from the suburbs of Honolulu, Hawaii. This blogger, who claims to know "what really is happening" in the world, is a radical leftist/liberal type, whose site gets a fair amount of traffic, and seems to be a source of material for many other anti-Semitic blogs. Most of his content consists of links to "legitimate" news sites, with his commentary.

Note, incidentally, that I haven't mentioned this person's name, or site; the reason is that Wikipedia recently banned a biography page on this guy, because he's famous only among conspiracy theory nuts. He hasn't been mentioned in the real media enough, and I don't intend to help him (if you want details, drop me an e-mail).

Webmaster's Commentary:

I also wanted to point out that the comments added to this article included many positive comments for Desert Peace and WRH.

U.S. papers shed 5,900 journalists in 2008

American daily newspapers cut 5,900 newsroom jobs in 2008, according to a survey from the American Society of News Editors.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The corporate media will whine and point fingers at the blogs, but the truth is that most political and news blogs would not exist if the media had done their job and reported the truth about what was going on with the government.

WRH would not exist if the corporate media had reported on the evidence I handed them proving that the FBI fraudulently manufactured Lisa Foster's recognition of the gun found with her husband's body. The evidence consisted of the FBI's own records and I handed this story, a story about a possible murder committed inside the White House itself, free of charge to NBC's Los Angeles News department, and was told (off the record) that anyone touching that story would be fired.

That was the reason I started my political web page which eventually became WRH, and frankly, it has been a huge cost and a pain in the ass most of the last 16 years.

But now time has caught up with the corporate media. As the general public comes to understand the extent of the US Government lies and the degree to which the corporate media aided and abetted those lies, people are turning to the blogs to get that which they cannot find at ABCNNBBCBS; the TRUTH!

So the liars are finally getting fired, and who will really mourn their fall?

Not me. I wish they had done their @#%ing job in the first place.
