Snow totals have reached 22-35 inches west, north, and northwest of the Beltway, 18-24 inches inches inside the Beltway, and 10-20 inches south and southeast of the Beltway.

Blizzard conditions were achieved in D.C. late this afternoon.

Historic blizzard pounds the mid-Atlantic

This storm has become of the of biggest snowstorms on record for the mid-Atlantic, dumping over three feet of snow in parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.

Not only has the massive storm shut down major highways across the region, but it has also lead to coastal flooding that has inundated communities near the coast.

Washington, D.C., snowfall total called into question after improper measurement

The way that the snowfall has been measured at National in this storm has led to snowfall totals that could be much lower than what has actually fallen and may have unnecessarily withheld the storm from ending as one of the top 3 snowiest on record.

Storm Jonas was one for the record books

A historic winter storm, packing hurricane-force gusts, inciting record tides at the Shore, creating blizzard-like conditions and impacting 20 percent of the nation's population, heaped up to 28 inches of snow - and a colossal cleanup operation - upon the Philadelphia region.

The storm finally wound down, with only light snow expected the rest of Saturday night, but not before an official 22.4 inches was measured at Philadelphia International Airport, close to the average for an entire winter and the fourth-biggest snowfall in 132 years of record-keeping.

The National Weather Service warned that the worst is still to come for many areas as one in seven Americans could get at least half a foot of snow by Sunday, and Washington could see snowdrifts more than four feet high.

Ten states have now declared emergencies, more than 8,000 flights have been cancelled across the country, coastal flooding has been reported in New Jersey and motorists in Kentucky were stranded in a 35-mile jam for 12 hours overnight with National Guard distributing food, water and fuel.

If 18 inches of snow falls in Washington, D.C., then it would eclipse the "Blizzard of 1996" and the "Snowmageddon Storm" of Feb. 5-6, 2010.

The greatest snowfall for a single-day in Washington, D.C., was 21.0 inches on Jan. 28, 1922, during the "Knickerbocker Storm."

If 18 inches of snow falls on Baltimore, then it would tie the top 10 storm from Dec. 18-19, 2009.

The greatest snowfall for a single-day in Baltimore was 23.3 inches on Jan. 28, 1922.

Former Vice President Al Gore shocked Americans in “An Inconvenient Truth” when he said polar bears were drowning because global warming was melting Arctic sea ice, but now a new study shows that polar bears did just fine even when there was no ice covering the Arctic.

Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks released a study claiming the “stratigraphic record of the last 1.5 [million years] indicates that no marine species’ extinction events occurred despite major climate oscillations,” including periods where the Arctic was completely ice-free in summertime.

“Some species thought to be dependent on summer sea ice (e.g., polar bears) survived through these periods,” write Thomas Cronin of the USGS and Matthew Cronin of the University of Alaska in their new study.

Satellite Data Shows 2015 Wasn’t Even Close To Being The Hottest Year On Record

Satellite temperature data measuring Earth’s lower atmosphere shows that 2015 only ranks as the third-warmest year on record, and not the warmest year as predicted by scientists relying on weather station data.

Climate scientists with the University of Alabama, Huntsville reported Tuesday the temperature anomaly for December 2015 was 0.44 degrees Celsius above the 1981 to 2010 average, fueled by an El Nino warming event.

Are Climate Skeptics Too ‘Mentally Ill’ to Buy Guns Under Obama’s New Rules?

The idea that climate skeptics are mentally ill is nothing new:

Oregon-based professor of "sociology and environmental studies" Kari Norgaard has declared climate skepticism a mental illness that must be “treated.”

Psychology Today published an article listing three warning signs that you are in “climate change denial”:

“You think climate change is bad, but not that bad.”
“You don’t have an emotional reaction to climate change.”
“You aren’t getting political.”
Thus, if you don’t think the climate threat is great enough, or you’re not furious about it, or you’re not politically active in the climate fight, then you’ve got mental issues.

Having a different opinion is not a mental illness!

Unprecendented catastrophe underway near Los Angeles; Largest gas leak ever recorded — “Equivalent to strength of a volcanic eruption” — “Thousands suffer nose bleeds, vomiting” — “Potentially devastating on planetary scale” —

Methane leak in California a ‘major catastrophe‘; Leak ‘largest ever recorded‘ could take 4 months to stop… “The amount of methane and natural gas that’s coming out of the Aliso Canyon Facility really is probably one of the largest volumes of gas ever recorded from a single leak,” says Tim O’Connor, an oil and gas specialist… “We have tried that seven times and have been unsuccessful in trying to stop the leak,” said SoCalGas spokesman Michael Mizrahi. “I have to say more than likely it’s [because] the pressures that are coming up from the leaking well are so intense.” The company says it doesn’t know exactly how much gas is escaping… The Federal Aviation Administration has imposed a no-fly zone because of the small risk that a plane could ignite a pocket of methane… Laurie Rosenberg is among the many Porter Ranch residents who say the chemicals are causing them health problems.

That volume of methane could really warm the atmosphere!

Climate change targets 'have huge implications for UK pensioners'

Britain’s biggest carbon polluters stand to lose billions of pounds from tough new climate targets and must come clean with their shareholders about the financial crisis that lies ahead, the country’s biggest pension funds have warned.

A legally binding agreement struck by world leaders in Paris last month, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions dramatically, has huge implications for pensioners, who have billions of pounds invested in “carbon-intensive” companies.

Analysts say that more than three-quarters of the world’s known coal, oil and gas reserves will have to stay in the ground if the planet is to have any chance of meeting the target to limit global warming to between 1.5C and 2C.

Since fossil-fuel companies are largely valued on their reserves, leaving them in the ground threatens to decimate their profits and share prices.

24 days to Al Gore’s ’10 years to save the planet’ and ‘point of no return’ planetary emergency deadline

On January 25th, 2006, while at the Sundance film festival, screening “An Inconvenient Truth”, Al Gore said this as chronicled in an article by CBS News:

Americans have been hearing it for decades, wavering between belief and skepticism that it all may just be a natural part of Earth’s cyclical warming and cooling phases.

And politicians and corporations have been ignoring the issue for decades, to the point that unless drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gases are taken within the next 10 years, the world will reach a point of no return, Gore said.

He sees the situation as “a true planetary emergency.”

Well, the 10 years are about up, by now, warming should have reached “planetary emergency levels” Let’s look at the data:

Quantifying the consensus on anthropogenic global warming in the scientific literature

We analyze the evolution of the scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming (AGW) in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, examining 11?944 climate abstracts from 1991–2011 matching the topics 'global climate change' or 'global warming'. We find that 66.4% of abstracts expressed no position on AGW, 32.6% endorsed AGW, 0.7% rejected AGW and 0.3% were uncertain about the cause of global warming. Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming. In a second phase of this study, we invited authors to rate their own papers. Compared to abstract ratings, a smaller percentage of self-rated papers expressed no position on AGW (35.5%).

Massive methane leak forces relocation of 2,500 California families

New aerial footage of the leak was also released on Wednesday by the Environmental Defense Fund, which captured the intensity of the leak by infrared camera. The video footage shows a steady, thick plume pouring into the air over a densely packed residential area. It is hard to judge the width of the plume from the video, but EDF said it is pumping out 62 million cubic feet of methane into the atmosphere each day. Methane packs 80 times the 20-year warming power of carbon dioxide.

“What you can’t see is easy to ignore. That’s why communities that suffer from pollution from oil and gas development are often dismissed by industry and regulators,” said Earthworks spokesman Alan Septoff in a statement. “Making invisible pollution visible shows the world what people in Porter Ranch have been living with every day for months.”

Climate Change? Why Hasn't Obama Mentioned the Enormous "Unstoppable" Gas Leak Happening in California Right Now?

Some 150 million pounds of methane has now poured into the atmosphere in just a few weeks. No one seems to know what caused it and no one seems to know how to stop it. The gas leak continues unabated. It shows no signs of stopping. It is now officially being called the worst catastrophe since the BP oil spill and the worst gas leak in California state history.

Obama will wax on all day about “climate change” right? Well methane is clearly much worse for the environment than the man-made carbon dioxide he’s always railing against and where has he been on this one? Pushing gun control? Golfing?

This leak has supposedly already released the equivalent of what would be released from six coal fired power plants (the ones he wants to regulate out of existence) over the span of twenty years… in just under two months. And it just keeps leaking at an alarming rate.

And the president hasn’t said a peep. Keep in mind, this leak was happening DURING the recent climate talks in Paris.

Unstoppable California Gas Leak Being Called Worst Catastrophe Since BP Spill

Green Gestapo: TV programs that mock global warming being memory holed by governments to erase any trace of their existence

The only way the cabal of global warming/climate change hoaxers can be heard, is by silencing anyone with countermanding evidence that the hoaxers are lying to the entire planet. One of the cultist cabal's latest victims of the "green Gestapo" is Britain's Quentin Letts.

As he explains in a story at The Daily Mail, what happened to him was a bit like what happened to a member of the Soviet-era Politburo who had fallen out of favor with then-Premier Josef Stalin in 1940, shortly before World War II began in earnest in Europe.

Using a concept that George Orwell – author of the forward-looking 1984 – created, namely the "unperson," described as "someone who had so offended official thought, he or she was vaporised — not just liquidated but wiped from the record for eternity," Letts wrote that he had been treated similarly by a British media icon for questioning global warming orthodoxy.
