THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"Imperialism today is taking place in the context of...the 'universalization' of capitalism. It is not now primarily a matter of territorial conquest or direct military or colonial control. It is not now a matter of capitalist powers invading non-capitalist powers in order to bleed them dry directly and by brute force. Now it is more a matter of ensuring that the forces of the capitalist market prevail in every corner of the world (even if this means marginalizing and impoverishing parts of it), and of manipulating those market forces to the advantage of the most powerful capitalist economies and the United States in particular." ... "Military force is still central to the imperialist project, in some ways more than ever."-- Political scientist Ellen Meiksins-Wood, Z magazine Nov 1999, p26

The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County

Anyone in his education who has neglected to read every word Mark Twain ever wrote has simply missed the greater part of the meaning and opportunity of life. Twain is reputed to be The Great Man of American Literature, but this appreciation of him, while true, misses the mark or this truly great man.

To fathom the greatness of a truly great man, a sufficient lapse of time must pass before he is far enough away from us so that we might measure the greatness of such a great man.

Alexander the Great by this measure quickly gained his fame.

Willard Wigan micro sculptor

Paying attention to small details.. He sold his works for $20 million, and he can't read or write.. so he claims.

He seems like a very dedicated artist.. More than likely he is.

It would seem impossible to do what he has done without laser tooling of some sort.. But who know.. Where there is a will there is a way.

Ulver - Blinded by Blood (Illustrations by H.R. Giger)

Giger is a Trans humanist artist.. He is the one who designed the "Alien" movies backdrops.. His images suggest that computers, machines, and humanity will merge together.

The soundtrack is eerily outstanding.. I think you guys/gals will like this one.

Poetry Contest!! A Crunch Into Niemoller’s Credit

First they came for my holiday home
and I didn’t speak up,
because I couldn’t afford a break anyway.

Then they came for my new car
and I didn’t speak up,
because I didn’t have the money to fill the tank.

Then they came for my fridge
and I didn’t speak up,
because I couldn’t find the cash to buy some sausage and mash.

Then they came for my pillow,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I couldn’t put my mind to rest.

Then they came for me,
but with no debts to pay back I was a penniless hack.
They moved on,
and left me alone.

This is the first music/audio/visual thread.

I am imagining that many WRH readers are creative types, and perhaps have a musical video, or audio, they would like to share.. So that the other members have an idea of the personality in back of the user name.

I'll go ahead and post a youtube of me singing The Dogshit blues. I'm hoping somebody else will post one of their own original music videos or mp3s. If it ain't original..Mike can get in trouble ..I think... Keep it original.. please.
