Israel Braces Itself for a UN Fact Finding Mission by Gilad Atzmon

Israel faces another disastrous report as an 'Independent and impartial' fact-finding team appointed by the UN Human Rights Council will look into Israel's 'violations of international law' during her commando raid on the Gaza-bound Turkish ship.

Seemingly the UN Human Rights Council wasn’t overwhelmingly impressed by Israel's own ‘truth finding’ missions. I guess that this is understandable. The Israelis should accept the UN concerns. It is very uncommon to let the murderer or the rapist investigate himself.

Rep. Rangel Wrangling to Reinstate Slavery in the United States

As the two-year investigation into the alleged wrongdoings of Rep. He has sponsored H.R. 5741 which proposes:

“To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.”

Shadow Banking Makes A Comeback

Credit conditions are improving for speculators and bubblemakers, but they continue to worsen for households, consumers and small businesses. An article in the Wall Street Journal confirms that the Fed's efforts to revive the so-called shadow banking system is showing signs of progress. Financial intermediaries have been taking advantage of low rates and easy terms to fund corporate bonds, stocks and mortgage-backed securities. Thus, the reflating of high-risk financial assets has resumed, thanks to the Fed's crisis-engendering monetary policy and extraordinary rescue operations. Here's an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal:

USDA Vilsack/Obama/DOJ shaft black farmers in lawsuit

Vilsack Must Keep Black Farmers on their Land
By Cynthia McKinney
July 22, 2010
"Unfortunately however, Secretary Vilsack has also thrown Black Farmers under the bus. To date, despite abundant headlines to the contrary, Black Farmers, including the named plaintiffs in Pigford v. Glickman (1997), Lucious Abrams and Cecil Brewington have not even had a meeting with USDA, to settle their discrimination claim. Others who did receive settlements were then harassed by the Internal Revenue Service and had their bank accounts frozen and their Social Security payments offset by any government payments, including stimulus payments.

‘Governments Are Not Going to Change This. We Have To’: Antony Loewenstein on Israel/Palestine, the Internet and more

By Alex Kane — Desertpeace

With “peace talks” between the Palestinian Authority and Israel seeming more and more like a dead end, many people around the world, including dissident Jewish voices, are turning to grassroots activism to pressure Israel to end the ongoing occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Recently, Jewish Voice for Peace launched a campaign to pressure TIAA-CREF, one of the largest financial services in the U.S., to divest from companies that profit off of the Israeli occupation. Yesterday, the Olympia Food Co-Op, located in the hometown of Rachel Corrie, the American peace activist killed by an Israeli bulldozer, announced a decision to boycott Israeli goods at their two locations.

BP Hires Prison Labor to Clean Up Spill While Coastal Residents Struggle

the first few days after BP's Deepwater Horizon wellhead exploded, spewing crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico, cleanup workers could be seen on Louisiana beaches wearing scarlet pants and white t-shirts with the words "Inmate Labor" printed in large red block letters. Coastal residents, many of whom had just seen their livelihoods disappear, expressed outrage at community meetings; why should BP be using cheap or free prison labor when so many people were desperate for work? The outfits disappeared overnight.

UT researchers discover water on the moon is widespread, similar to Earth's

Researchers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, are once again turning what scientists thought they knew about the moon on its head.

Last fall, researchers, including Larry Taylor, a distinguished professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, discovered "lunar dew" on the moon's surface -- absorbed "water" in the uppermost layers of lunar soil. This discovery of water debunked beliefs held since the return of the first Apollo rocks that the moon was bone-dry.

Now, scientists, including Taylor and Yang Liu, research assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, have discovered that water on the moon is more widespread -- on the outside and inside of the moon -- with some similarities to water in volcanic systems on Earth.

Doubts surface on North Korea's role in ship sinking

Armed with dossiers of their own scientific studies and bolstered by conspiracy theories, critics dispute the findings announced May 20 by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, which pointed a finger at Pyongyang.

They also question why Lee made the announcement nearly two months after the ship's sinking, on the very day campaigning opened for fiercely contested local elections. Many accuse the conservative leader of using the deaths of 46 sailors to stir up anti-communist sentiment and sway the vote.

ROBBING YOU BLIND ALIVE AND DEAD

ROBBING YOU BLIND ALIVE AND DEAD
By Jon Christian Ryter

That is the fear of the 57% of the people who refuse to sign donor cards. Just because a doctor says you're clinically dead does not mean you're clinically dead. The AMA criteria for determining when death occurs said Dunlap was dead. At that point, the hospital can legally extract body parts from the organ donor. Zach Dunlap and others like them who are viewed as brain dead when they merely suffered a trauma which made it appear they were brain dead, would die when their organs were harvested. Had the organ-harvest team cracked Zach Dunlap open and began removing his organs, they would have killed a living person who died feeling the pain of being butchered like livestock.

The Hariri Assassination - Israel's Fingerprints Surface

Israel’s agents and operatives in Lebanon and its infiltration of a telecom network have been exposed. At the very least, the STL must recognize that evidence of alleged Hezbollah involvement in Hariri’s death (a group that historically enjoyed good ties with the late premier) is wholly tainted and likely doctored.

The arrest of Qazzi and al-Raba’a in the breakup of Israeli spy rings should prompt the STL to shift its focus to the only regional player that has benefited from Hariri’s murder; one that will continue to do so if and when their designs to implicate Hezbollah are realized.

It is time to look at Tel Aviv.

Lockerbie: Megrahi Was Framed – John Pilger

No one in authority has had the guts to state the truth about the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 above the Scottish village of Lockerbie on 21 December 1988 in which 270 people were killed. The governments in England and Scotland in effect blackmailed Megrahi into dropping his appeal as a condition of his immediate release. Of course there were oil and arms deals under way with Libya; but had Megrahi proceeded with his appeal, some 600 pages of new and deliberately suppressed evidence would have set the seal on his innocence and given us more than a glimpse of how and why he was stitched up for the benefit of “strategic interests.”

Myth-debunking Snopes obscures Israel's role in 9/11

Instead of attempting to debunk the well-documented claims that at least some Israelis were forewarned about the 9/11 attacks, Snopes peremptorily dismisses them, claiming they scarcely merit the dignity of a rebuttal. Yet, Haaretz reported that two employees of Odigo, the Israeli-owned instant messaging service, received messages two hours before the Twin Towers attack on September 11 predicting the attack would happen. Asked whether Israeli agents had advanced knowledge of the 9/11 attacks, Fox News reporter Carl Cameron quoted U.S. investigators who concluded, "How could they not have known?" And then there were those "dancing Israelis" who later claimed on an Israeli talk show that their "purpose was to document the event."

To the extent the series receives much substantive attention (and I doubt it will), the focus will likely be on the bureaucratic problems it documents: the massive redundancies, overlap, waste, and inefficiencies which plague this "hidden world, growing beyond control" -- as though everything would better if Top Secret America just functioned a bit more effectively.

On the Coming Fall of the American Empire

By Daniel McCarthy
07/23/2010

To understand the course the Founders intended the republic to follow, one must look to the Constitution, certainly -- but not just to the Constitution. There are, Fein argues, four "Charter Documents" that encapsulate our political tradition. The first two are obvious: the Declaration of Independence announced Americans' right to self-government, and the Constitution established the rule of law within a federal framework. But to discover the Founders' wisdom in foreign policy, one must look to two other Charter Documents: George Washington's Farewell Address and the speech before Congress that Secretary of State John Quincy Adams delivered on July 4, 1821.

2011: The Year Of The Tax Increase

Unless the U.S. Congress acts, there is going to be a massive wave of tax increases in 2011. In fact, some are already calling 2011 the year of the tax increase. A whole host of tax cuts that Congress established between 2001 and 2003 are set to expire in January unless Congress chooses to renew them. But with Democrats firmly in control of both houses that appears to be extremely unlikely. These tax increases are going to affect every single American (at least those who actually pay taxes). But this will be just the first wave of tax increases. Another huge slate of tax increases passed in the health care reform law is scheduled to go into effect by 2019. So Americans that are already infuriated by our tax system are only going to become more frustrated in the years ahead.

Arkansas truth

At a certain time, while Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas, drugs began to be smuggled into western Arkansas, the most remote part of the State. This smuggling was done by plane. Planes are rather difficult to conceal, so all the State Troopers were well aware of what was going on. Nevertheless, no attempt was made to stop the smuggling. Some years later, it was finally ascertained that the man who was in charge of this drug smuggling was a Mr Dan Lasater. And who was Mr Lasater? Mr Lasater was Mr Clinton’s business partner in Little Rock. He later made himself famous when he said before a Congressional Committee, “What is wrong with bringing in drugs if you don’t charge for them?” Yet Clinton did not come in for any criticism for this matter. He was not even mentioned.

We did not choose to accept this obligation. It has been forced on us. Our political leaders tell us this fable time and again; many Americans are eager to believe it, in the manner of a damaged child who appeals to mysterious powers to vanquish the dangers lurking in the shadows of his room. We witness this mechanism in connection with a wide range of problems, even when those problems reach the catastrophic level.

Jew puts Holocaust on trial

I was born a Jew. An Ashkenazi Jew, a Khazar. I had, as a child, very elderly relatives with numbers tattooed on their upper arms. A dozen of them. So I have EVERY RIGHT to ask questions and of course I was certain that I would confirm everything I had been taught in my very American schooling. I was wrong. I confirmed NOTHING and found a wealth of evidence that discredits the mainstream perspective so much so that it appears that at this point a Holocaust as it's described historically just NEVER happened.

The Cost of Israel to US Taxpayers

Recently Americans have begun to read and hear that “Israel receives $3 billion in annual U.S. foreign aid.” That's true. But it's still a lie. The problem is that in fiscal 1997 alone, Israel received from a variety of other U.S. federal budgets at least $525.8 million above and beyond its $3 billion from the foreign aid budget, and yet another $2 billion in federal loan guarantees. So the complete total of U.S. grants and loan guarantees to Israel for fiscal 1997 was $5,525,800,000.

China: The US Is "Insolvent and Faces Bankruptcy"

The common thought amongst even reasonably educated and economically literate Americans is that China is 'stuck with US Treasuries' and has no choice, so it must perform within the status quo and do as the US wishes, or face a ruinous decline in their reserve holdings of US Treasuries.

...

I think China is already diversifying their reserve portfolio, and more stealthily and effectively than one would imagine.

Iraqi city has higher cancer rates than Hiroshima

A report has been published indicating cancers and other diseases in the Iraqi city of Fallujah are significantly higher than those of the survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs of 1945.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The radioactive isotopes from a nuclear weapon have fairly short half lives, measured on scales of thousands of days for the longest-lived isotopes. In contrast, depleted uranium has a half life of four and a half billion years. Iraq will never be rid of this poison.

Payment row as ethanol damages car engines

The problems hit many ethanol car owners in the spring. Although car manufacturers have deferred responsibility to fuel companies to foot the bill for the repairs, they in turn have refused, saying the problems are not their responsibility.

In the spring, an increasing number of ethanol cars were taken to garages with driving and starting problems. The problems appeared to be high sulphate concentrations in the ethanol clogging the fuel injector to the engine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, I hate to say I told you so ... no, wait, actually, I rather like it. But I did point out that this whole ethanol concept was a feel-good soundbite promoted by the Global Warming Cult which had not been thought all the way through to see if it would really work or not.

Given that farmlands are not an infinite resource, the mandated diversion of farms from food crops to ethanol production triggered a food shortage and rising food prices, exacerbated when the long-neglected flood control on the Mississippi river failed repeatedly, deluging midwestern farmlands in toxic flood waters.

The so-called carbon neutrality of ethanol is a myth, once the carbon footprint of the processing and the energy creation needed for the processing are added in. In fact atmospheric carbon would have been more effectively reduced keeping those plants alive (and bearing more food crops along the way).

Because ethanol contains far less energy than gasoline, users had to buy and burn more of it to accomplish the same amount of work, driving costs higher.

Finally, as this article underscores, engines are not designed to run on ethanol, and as Germany discovered, the fuel system components are being destroyed by the ethanol molecules they were not designed to deal with.

For the new world to generate; and it is unstoppable by any force, because the cosmos is generating it, the old world must be broken down and the power of its influence taken away. That’s not going to fly either, not for some time. It’s ours to celebrate or compromise. The only power the manipulators will have is the possibility of corrupting those who have avoided corruption within their old matrix. The chances are slim.

Australians for Palestine – Providing a Voice

Gandhi’s major statement on the Palestine and the Jewish question came forth in his widely circulated editorial in the Harijan of 11 November 1938, a time when intense struggle between the Palestinian Arabs and the immigrant Jews had been on the anvil in Palestine. His views came in the context of severe pressure on him, especially from the Zionist quarters, to issue a statement on the problem. Therefore, he started his piece by saying that his sympathies are all with the Jews, who as a people were subjected to inhuman treatment and persecution for a long time.

Hearings: BP company man questioned time-saving, internal investigators' notes say

"They decided we should do displacement (of protective drilling mud with seawater) and the negative test together; I don't know why," BP company man Robert Kaluza told internal BP investigators after the accident, according to notes from those investigators.

Experts have said it was a mistake to displace the mud before the well was completely plugged, because the mud weight is the first defense against natural gas or oil kicking up and blowing out the well.

At the panel hearings Thursday, Gordon asked Kaluza's boss, BP wells team leader John Guide, whether Kaluza was right. "I don't know exactly what Mr. Kaluza is referring to," Guide said.

The million dollar question is why the order came from BP Houston to REMOVE the protective mud layer.

A Crisis in Confidence: Congress Approval Sinks to New Low

Activist Post

The Gallup's 2010 Confidence in Institutions poll was released today and there seems to be a severe crisis in confidence in nearly all major institutions. Congress came in dead last of the 16 institutions studied with a pitiful 11% approval rating. Gallup reported, "Eleven percent of Americans say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress, down from 17% in 2009 and a percentage point lower than the previous low for Congress, recorded in 2008."

On the 37-year chart, Congress' approval never exceeded 46%, which occurred on the first year of the chart 1973. Since then, there has been a steady decline of confidence for Congress to new depths flirting with single digits.

Yet the greatest military in history (ask it)  gets run out of Southeast Asia, blown up and run out of Lebanon, shot down and run out of Somalia, with Afghanistan a disaster in progress and Iraq claimed as an American victory rather than Shiite.Do the aircraft carriers intimidate North Korea? No. Iran? No. China? No. For this, a trilliaon dollars a year?

The satellites are missing

Back in January, our friends were crowing about the warmest satellite temperatures on record. But now they seem to have lost interest in satellites. I wonder why?

It probably has to do with the fact that temperature anomalies are plummeting at a rate of 0.47 °C/year and that satellite temperatures in 2010 are showing no signs of setting a record.

The attention span of our alarmist friends seems to be getting shorter and shorter. They lock in on a week of warm temperatures on the east coast, a week of warm temperatures in Europe, a week of rapid melt in the Arctic. But they have completely lost the plot of the big picture.

Obama Is Preparing to Bomb Iran

Webster G. Tarpley

July 21, 2010

After about two and a half years during which the danger of war between the United States and Iran was at a relatively low level, this threat is now rapidly increasing. A pattern of political and diplomatic events, military deployments, and media chatter now indicates that Anglo-American ruling circles, acting through the troubled Obama administration, are currently gearing up for a campaign of bombing against Iran, combined with special forces incursions designed to stir up rebellions among the non-Persian nationalities of the Islamic Republic. Naturally, the probability of a new fake Gulf of Tonkin incident or false flag terror attack staged by the Anglo-American war party and attributed to Iran or its proxies is also growing rapidly.

Kabul conference is surreal theatre featuring the defeated Western allies in competitive denial

We are watching history in the making in Afghanistan; but it is history of a certain stamp – the slow-motion unraveling of a disaster. The international conference meeting in a palatial hall in Kabul has all the unreality of similar doomed assemblies in the past. Think of the States General of France in 1789, the Duma in Russia in 1905 – you get the picture. Here we have high-ranking international diplomats and foreign ministers, the supposed "movers and shakers" of the world, but they have encountered the immovable and the unshakeable: the victorious Taliban and the treacherous warlords of Afghanistan.

Judge orders Demjanjuk to appear in court

A German judge for the first time ordered John Demjanjuk to appear in court after the 90-year-old's health issues caused the cancellation of sessions in his trial over allegations that he was a guard at the Nazis' Sobibor death camp.

Webmaster's Commentary:

font size=4>John Demjanjuk is 90 years old and is accused of 28,060 counts of accessory to crimes alleged to have occurred at Sobibor.

But John Demjanjuk has already been through this before. Israel charged him in 1988 with being "Ivan the Terrible" at the Teblinka camp. John Demjanjuk was extradited, indicted, convicted, and awaiting execution when evidence surfaced proving John Demjanjuk was not "Ivan the Terrible". To their credit, the courts in Israel vacated the death sentence and John Demjanjuk was returned home to Ohio.

But Israel faced a huge public relations problem. They had been shown to be in error regarding the Holocaust, and at a time when the general public was becoming aware of the many exaggerations in the story of WW2 (lampshades and soap to name 2) Israel simply could not be allowed to appear to be in error about any aspect of the Holocaust, because then the orthodox account of WW2 cited as justification for Israel's continued theft of Palestine comes into doubt. The Simon Wiesenthal Center had staked their reputation on the claim that John Demjanjuk was "Ivan the Terrible". The awareness that Saddam never had nuclear weapons had taught the people of the world that government and corporate media lie about very important matters.

So, for Israel's and the Simon Wiesenthal Center's sakes, John Demjanjuk has to be found guilty of something and if he was not "Ivan the Terrible" at Treblinka then he must be something equally evil at Sobibor, because Israel and the Simon Wiesenthal Center are never, ever, ever to be seen as being in error about anything regarding the orthodox account of the holocaust.

and that is why the German government, who presumably have important matters to deal with, like their own economic woes, continue to persecute a 90-year old man.

THE PLAIN AND SIMPLE TRUTH ABOUT APARTHEID

A declaration of loyalty to “a Jewish state” is not just a procedural matter. It implies, for Arabs or others, recognition of one’s inferiority vis-à-vis Jewish citizens of the state. Indeed, the ramifications of such recognition are enormous and far-reaching.
