"In national as in individual dealings, more liberality will, perhaps, be found in voluntary regulations than in those which are measured out by the strict letter of a treaty, which, whenever it becomes onerous, is made by forced construction to mean anything or nothing, engenders disputes and brings on war." -- Thomas Jefferson to Alexander, Emperor of Russia, 1804.

Can We Please Stop Criminalising Childhood?

On Easter Sunday, police were called to deal with children committing the appallingly anti-social act of building a den in a wooded area near their Northumbrian home.

The group of girls were busy making their tree house in Warkworth Woods when local dog walkers called police reporting children ‘dragging wood into the wood’. Police arrived on the scene and the children were stopped in their tracks. A mother of one of the children involved has spoken to the media in protest at the ridiculous over reaction – saying it underscores the growing trend to criminalise childhood itself.

The Meritocracy Myth: How the Super-Rich Really Make Their Money

Paul Buchheit
RINF Alternative News

Warren Buffett once claimed that the "genius of the American economy, our emphasis on a meritocracy and a market system and a rule of law has enabled generation after generation to live better than their parents did." The Economist suggested that "people succeed through brains and hard work." Economist Tyler Cowen believes in a "hyper-meritocracy" in which wealth is created by the most intelligent and motivated people.

What’s Next for the Bundys?

The federal response will definitely come. It will likely be in three areas; two of which don’t involve the Bundys specifically. First, a multi-faceted attack will be made on the Bundys; second, a broad-front regulatory response against other land users will be made for the purpose of retaliation against the whole group and as a deterrent; and third, new provocateur deployments will probably be made across the West into similar situations.

Hillary Clinton blamed in USAID memos outlining chaos in Afghanistan aid

In internal government documents with potential repercussions for the 2016 presidential election, top officials at the U.S. Agency for International Development repeatedly cited former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for setting into motion a policy to waive restrictions on who could receive U.S. aid in Afghanistan, resulting in millions of dollars in U.S. funds going directly into the coffers of Afghan ministries known to be rife with corruption.

Hey, Kids, Remember You're On Our Side: The FBI Makes A Movie

Earlier this week, the FBI posted a video on their website. It's a 25-minute movie called Game of Pawns, based on the true story of, an American college student who was recruited as a spy by the Chinese government.

According to the FBI's website, the film is aimed at college students about to study abroad themselves. The message is obvious: Don't be a spy. The rationale is that a dramatic movie will capture young people's attention better than public service announcements or PowerPoint.

Another paedophile politician could be unmasked by MP who exposed Cyril Smith's sex ring

The MP who exposed the paedophilia of the late Cyril Smith is threatening to name another former senior politician alleged to have had sex with children.

Simon Danczuk, Labour MP for Rochdale, where one of his predecessors was Smith, said he may unmask someone 'much more important' who allegedly abused boys at the notorious Elm Guest House in Barnes, South-West London, which was used as a venue for a paedophile ring of VIPs.

'I have been contacted by people making serious allegations.' The MP says he could use parliamentary privilege - which would give him legal immunity - to name the former influential MP.

He added: 'It would be best for him to come forward of his own volition, but I would consider using privilege to name the parliamentarian.'

Harper on Russia: America's useful idiot?

Stephen Harper's acutely embarrassing behaviour regarding the crisis in Ukraine -- demonizing Vladimir Putin and upping the rhetoric -- must be welcomed in the U.S. which created the crisis in the first place and apparently believes it still has something to gain by isolating Russia. But it is not clear that Harper even realizes -- or cares -- what the larger game is. The generals surrounding him in the ridiculous war-room setting where he announced Canada was sending six fighter jets to bolster NATO's military build-up in eastern Europe looked very uncomfortable. Who likes being used as a prop for a faltering politician? The setting was a bad case of over-acting -- as if we were joining the Allies in another world war rather than engaging in what one expert called "incremental posturing."

Is Harper just a useful idiot to the U.S. -- ranting and raving about Russian expansionism and imperialism so that the U.S. position looks more reasonable by comparison?

"Dealy Plaza that day was just packed with assassins from all over the place." (video shows who they were)

What the heck was he talking about and why was he so worried? For the first time ever, we answer that question is greater detail than you've probably ever heard.

When Nixon was Vice President under Eisenhower, Eisenhower gave him the job of putting together a global assassination team to look after America's interests. One of their first projects was providing logistics, training, and intelligence for the Bay of Pigs invasion. When that failed, they went after Castro.

Along the way, they killed a few other folks like John F Kennedy and then his brother Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

The same team of people were involved in all three assassinations as well as countless other murders and "dirty tricks" of various kinds.

This Means War: US To Target Putin's Personal $40 Billion Stash

While the White House has continually threatened further sanctions against Russia for non-de-escalation (even as it un-de-escalates itself), the specifics of the additional sanctions have been sparse. German CEO warnings over blowback from economic sanctions... the "nonsense" of replacing Russian gas with US gas... the Russian warnings of "interdependence" and "boomerangs"... all reduce the West's arsenal of financial sanctions. But, as The Times of London reports, perhaps the US has found a crucial pain point for Putin - a sanctions regime that would target Putin's personal wealth, which includes a reported $40 billion stashed in Swiss bank accounts.

A mortuary of 7,000,000 foreclosures and counting: Nation still faces 9.1 million properties that are seriously underwater.

If a foreclosure happens in the wilderness, does it make a sound? It seems like people have conveniently forgotten that since the housing crisis hit we have witnessed more than 7,000,000+ foreclosures. Do you think these people believe the Fed is almighty and can stop a speeding train or turn water into wine? Apparently some people forget that the Fed failed to prevent the tech bust or the housing bust in the first place. Now, the Fed is somehow the cult leader and the leader will not let housing values fall. The nation still has 9.1 million seriously underwater homeowners on top of the more 7 million that have gone through foreclosure. It is abundantly clear that the mindless drivel of “buying is always a good decision” is just that.

Why Jesus Was REALLY Killed: Challenging the Money Changers

Jesus did not go to the temple to cleanse. He came to the temple to announce the destruction of a whole way of life. Those who operated the temple had no power to silence Jesus and put him to death. Those powers were held by the Roman retainers.

The charges that were leveled against him can be summed up as insurrection. There were three specific charges: encouraging non-payment of taxes, threatening to destroy property (the temple), and claiming to be a king. It was the temple incident that took Jesus from being an irritating, but harmless country rebel from the rural north to a nuisance in a city that controlled the great tradition. Rome’s retainers killed him on a cross.

In other words, Jesus wasn’t sentenced to death until he challenged the money changers.

Important Revelations From New Leaks of CIA Torture Report

You know, the last few weeks have just been filled with information about torture, particularly around the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and their report, 6,000 pages on what the CIA did to hundreds, or at least over 100 detainees, from waterboarding to many things we don't yet know about.

And when I say filled with, that report was finished in 2012. Dianne Feinstein, who's head of that committee, the senator, has kept it classified. Recently there's been a push to get at least parts of that report declassified. We know, you know, some of the rough outlines. We know [snip] black sites, which are places where detainees were interrogated in Poland, perhaps in some other places. We knew that people were waterboarded, because some of that was disclosed. But we don't really know the whole story, and we still don't, and we may not for a very long time.

Pressure on Cargill & ADM to Dump GMO After China Rejects Corn Imports

Will trade barriers in China and beyond reign in GMO corn's grasp on American food?
The United States grows an absurd amount of corn, and more than 90% of that is genetically modified corn, which is then processed and put into foods and drinks of all kinds, particular in its most notorious form – as high fructose corn syrup, as well as dozens of other ingredients.

Now the cornerstone crop of GMO foods is facing new pressures, including a possible split between Big Agra corn producers like Cargill and Archer Daniels and the biotech companies that supply the GM seeds that these agri-giants cultivate.

China is now rejecting GM corn on the basis that its safety is not proven, raising the stakes in a complex East vs. West trade war that has often brought the U.S. economically to its knees.

Head of the self-defense units of Ukraine's eastern town of Slavyansk, Vladimir Ponomaryov, who was appointed Slavyansk mayor by the town's residents, has asked Russia to send peacekeepers to eastern Ukraine to protect civilians from National Guard and Right Sector militants.

"They kill our people. They don't talk to us but just kill," Ponomaryov said at an emergency press conference in the wake of last night's armed clashes on the outskirts of Slavyansk.

"The town has actually been besieged by the Right Sector," he said.

Cowboy Poet Waddie Mitchell Pens 'Call to All' in Nevada Ranch Standoff

Famed cowboy poet and Nevada rancher Waddie Mitchell, who spoke with Newsmax TV last week about the clash between Bundy and the BLM, has made the standoff the subject of his latest poem. He shared the piece, "A Call to All," with Newsmax:

A Call to All

Americans, listen up and fear
About what's happening out here
How our bureaucracies do anything to win
They stomp all over rights
Starting State and local fights
Stealing land and property from citizens

How the bureau of mis-management
Doesn't even have to get consent
To spend six million to put one lone rancher down
Cuz, a tortoise might get stepped on
And some fees they disagree on ,,
Make it worth Gestapo force with guns and hounds?........

Donetsk "Letter To Jews" Found To Be A Forgery

So the bottom line, namely that this was merely a provocation designed to generate a kneejerk emotional response from the west and paint the pro-Russia militia as neo-nazis and generally, as fascists (even though it was the ultra nationalist Right Sector that was instrumental in the overthrow of the Yanukovich government) was clear to most - even the population that was seemingly being targeted.

But not to John Kerry. "Secretary of State John Kerry said the language of the leaflets "is beyond unacceptable" and condemned whomever is responsible."

Stephen Crothers: The Parallax Effect on Short Hair | EU2014

Stephen Crothers presented the case that Black Holes and the Big Bang have been created by theorists and never observed. Black Holes are now said to be both invisible and visible. Quasars are now black holes; so are the 'blazars'. Individual black holes are also alleged x-ray sources. It is claimed that galaxies harbor a super-massive black hole at their centers, along with other black holes dispersed throughout them. All these black holes exist in an alleged expanding big bang universe. However, black hole universes are inconsistent with big bang universes. The audience were taken through the salient facts one step at a time in this riveting mostly non-mathematical presentation. The math of General Relativity has a notorious reputation for its complexity but most of the important facts can be understood by the layman and specialist alike without any mathematics.

Psychiatry’s Secret Involvement in Military Suicides Exposed by Documentary Film

According to the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, “In early 2013, the official website of the United States Department of Defense announced the startling statistic that the number of military suicides in 2012 had far exceeded the total of those killed in battle – an average of nearly one a day. A month later came an even more sobering statistic from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs: veteran suicide was running at 22 a day – about 8000 a year.”

The U.S. Secretary of Defense has recognized this surge in suicides as an “epidemic.” Some claim that combat-related stress is the main culprit, but 85 percent of military members who commit suicide have not seen combat, and 52 percent have never been deployed.

East Ukraine breaks Easter truce with fatal shooting

A deadly gunfight in restive east Ukraine has shattered a fragile Easter truce, with Russia declaring it was ‘‘outraged’’ at the return to violence in the crisis-hit former Soviet republic.

Three pro-Russian militants and one attacker were killed early on Sunday in a firefight at a roadblock close to the separatist-held town of Slaviansk, a local pro-Kremlin rebel leader, Vyatcheslav Ponomarev, said.

Vladimir, a masked 20-year-old pro-Russian rebel who was at the barricade, told AFP: ‘‘Four cars pulled up to our roadblock around 1am. We wanted to conduct a check, and then they opened fire on us with automatic weapons.’’

Right for the Wrong Reasons

The foreign policy mantra of Israel’s radical, Moldovan-born foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, can be accurately summarized in just four words: always blame the victim.

He may be more vocal than most, but it is the paradigm by which all Israeli ministers operate: the victims, not the perpetrators, are responsible for their own suffering. Whether it was the July 2006 war on Lebanon or the 2008-2009 assault on Gaza, the innocents killed effectively brought Israel’s wrath upon themselves.

The report, however, pointed out that US aligned regimes in the Middle East are rapidly increasing their military spending, and purchasing modern, high-tech weapons. The list of US aligned states in the Middle East is a collection of autocratic, repressive kingdoms and emirates. These countries are not "democratic" by any stretch. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and other states are absolute monarchies. People are flogged, stoned, and beheaded routinely. Torture goes on without apology, and no elections take place. "Free speech" is nearly non-existent, as people are locked up, arbitrarily killed, and otherwise repressed for speaking out.

The trio had barely stepped out of their parked car when they were fired on by one or several persons. The offenders had clearly been waiting for their victims.
The investigation is currently focusing on the banking industry.

2014, Year of reckoning for America/WW3

Two pressures are building on the US dollar. One pressure comes from the Federal Reserve’s declining ability to rig the price of gold as Western gold supplies shrivel and market knowledge of the Fed’s illegal price rigging spreads.
The other pressure arises from the Obama regime’s foolish threats of sanctions on Russia. Other countries are no longer willing to tolerate Washington’s abuse of the world dollar standard.

Russia and China have had enough.

Scalia to students on high taxes: At a certain point, ‘perhaps you should revolt’

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told a group of law students that it might be a good idea to revolt if taxes become too high in the future.

While speaking at the University of Tennessee College of Law on Tuesday, Justice Scalia was asked by a student about his interpretation of the constitutionality of the income tax, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported

The longest-serving justice currently on the bench answered the student by saying that the government has the constitutional right to implement the tax, “but if it reaches a certain point, perhaps you should revolt.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Scalia's opinion that the government has the authority to impose an income tax is based on his assuming (and we know what that means) that the 16th Amendment was actually ratified. There is ample evidence to suggest that the ratification of the 16th Amendment is no more real than Saddam's nuclear weapons. To date, the US Government has refused all requests to actually document the ratification of the 16th Amendment.

Scalia also seems to be ignorant of Stanton vs Baltic Mining where the USSC ruled that the 16th Amendment did not in fact confer any new taxing authority on the government. The Constitutional requirement that direct taxes must be apportioned has never been repealed which makes all direct UNapportioned taxes unconstitutional and illegal.

Of course, Scalia's generous salary, fancy robes, and opulent court building are funded by tax money, so he comes into this question with a clear conflict of interest.

ON THIS DATE IN 1993 - WACO - Who Shot First?

Contrary to the image of a dangerous gun nut put out in the media in an effort to justify the burning of the church, official BATF records prove that David Koresch was rather harmless, so much so that the BATF agents invited him to go shooting with them just 9 days before they raided the church. Koresch supplied the ammunition. The BATF agents allowed Koresch to try out their weapons.

Here is the official BATF report.
Click for full size image
It turns out that Koresch was not fooled by the undercover BATF. During his 911 phone call as the BATF pumped lead into the church, Koresch referred to one of the men as an agent.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Today is the anniversary of the 1993 incineration of the Branch Davidean church at Waco Texas. The siege began when the BATF decided to raid the church, which supported itself financially with a gun repair and reselling business, to garner some favorable publicity in the wake of several BATF disasters involving raids at the wrong address and the killing of innocent Americans. But Waco turned into another disaster as the BATF invited the media along on the operation. One of the media was a friend of David Koresh and called him to let him know the raid was on the way. When the BATf arrived, Koresh opened the front door intending to invite the BATF to inspect the dismantled weapons in their workshop (all the functioning weapons were out at a gun show that day). But as soon as Koresh opened the door he was shot in the groin by a BATF sniper and the situation deteriorated from there with BATF accidentally shooting each other (and claiming it was the Branch Davideans).

The FBI was called in to clean up the BATF's mess and found themselves in a dilemma, because if the Branch Davideans were allowed to live to testify, and if examination of the guns on the premises confirmed they were unfirable, it would have been a major scandal for the Clinton administration. So Janet Reno, claiming that the Branch Davideans were abusing their children, ordered an assault using CS tear gas, which is illegal to use on enemy soldiers in time of war. HUge amounts of CS were pumped into the church using methylene chloride as a propellent. Methylene chloride is highly toxic, used to melt plexiglass to bend it into new shapes. It also melts lung tissue. The official story was that the Branch Davideans had committed mass suicide by setting the fire themselves, but autopsies revealed there was no smoke inhalation damage to their lungs, which means they were dead from the gassing before the fire started.

The remains of the church as well as the top six inches of the soil were bulldozed and buried in a secret location
