There is a clear and pressing need to end the monumental folly of prosecuting a war in Afghanistan.
The war could continue simply because its momentum is now unstoppable.
And who actually wins, in this war without end?
Not the citizens of the US or NATO countries; indeed, we are collectively less safe than we were before the war against Afghanistan was initiated.
It is not the Afghan people, desperately poor, and dealing with a dysfunctional, corrupt government, the members of which are so crooked they have to screw their socks on in the morning.
From the inception of this war to the present, the only people "winning" have been the huge defense contractors which provide hired mercenaries, supplies, and logistics, and the drug dealers.
That is an ugly, and dismal, assessment, considering all the blood and money spent here; but it is the truth.
