Pentagon Prepares To Unveil Syria War Plans As "Broad Coalition" Crumbles

A day after US ambassador to The UN Samantha Powers stated, "we will not do the airstrikes alone if the president decides to do the airstrikes," and Russia warned, "bombing Syria without the cooperation of Damascus can have destructive practical consequences on the humanitarian situation in Syria," it appears President Obama's grand strategy to combat IS via a 'broad coalition' of allies is flailing. While the WSJ reports, The Pentagon is preparing war plans in Syria that would include an intensive initial wave of strikes against Islamic State targets, Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier explained today that providing air support or sending ground troops to fight Islamic State is "out of the question for us." For now, it appears, the only nation involved in the 'broad coalition' is France. Why? Because as we said yesterday, this is merely over fears of more BNPs. "A key component of this would be allied participation," said a U.S. official; does '1' ally count?

Obama’s ‘stupid stuff’ turned upside down

So much hard work to pivot from GWOT (Global War on Terrorism) to the Big Boys in Eurasia. So little time – and competence. The Caliph’s goons have announced on the record they would go for beheading Putin. If only the Pentagon would subcontract the job.

First Obama promised there would be no ground troops to fight The Caliph – as in a re-invasion of Iraq. Then General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that if the current gambit of Obama’s self-defined “Don’t Do Stupid Stuff” foreign policy doctrine does not work – and it won’t – he’ll go for ground troops, embedded or otherwise.

On Ukraine, the Big Picture spells out the European Union mired in a horrendous crisis, under a third recession in five years, obviously without the cash, not to mention the will, to pay Ukraine’s humongous bills. Sooner – with negotiations starting this Saturday in Berlin – or later the EU will have to find an accommodation with Moscow to guarantee its precious gas supplies.

Russia warns West over 'foolish' sanctions

Russia has described as “foolish” the Western sanctions imposed on the country, warning that European countries won’t be able to return to the Russian market once the sanctions are removed.

“These foolish sanctions will pass, but international relations will continue. And currency markets will open up,” Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Vesti 24 TV channel.

“The niches in our [Russian] economy, which will by then be occupied by local produces or other foreign producers... our European counterparts wouldn’t be able to come back,” he added.

Military Plant In East Ukraine Devastated By Massive Explosion; Kiev Accuses Russia Of Using Tactial Nuke

Last night's headlines crowed in bright red flashing text that Russia and Ukraine had (once again) agreed a cease-fire and terms over the borders between the two nations. Perhaps not surprisingly, mere hours later, Ukraine is claiming that Russia has broken the truce... with the use of a tactical nuclear weapon at Luhansk airport. This comes on the heels of claims by the pro-Russia separatists that Kiev forces destroyed a massive military plant in Donetsk. Russia's defense ministry flatly denies the 'nuclear strikes' adding that "no reasonable person will take them seriously." This truce-breaking action has once again raised calls among Ukrainians for the nation to get its nuclear status back; something Russia is clearly strongly against.

Exxon Winds Down Drilling as US Sanctions Hit Russia

ExxonMobil said on Friday it will wind down drilling in Russia's Arctic in the face of U.S. sanctions targeting Western cooperation with Moscow's oil sector, after the Obama administration granted a brief extension to safely mothball its operations.

Washington extended sanctions on Russia last week over its aggression in Ukraine. The new measures seek to stop billions of dollars worth of cooperation between Western and Russian energy companies on oil drilling in Russia's Arctic, in Siberia and offshore. Companies have until Sept. 26 to stop the work.

The U.S. Treasury Department gave Exxon a short extension to wind down a rig, beyond the 14 days outlined in the sanctions, the Texas-based oil major said on Friday without elaborating.

“Following the short time extension, the license is non-renewable and no further work is permitted,” Exxon spokesman Richard Keil told Reuters.

NATO’s new Cold War redraws left, liberal views on imperialism and war

The difference from the conditions of today to those of post-1990-91 is a large one. Russia is no longer offered a pretense of partnership in capitalist Europe. On the contrary, the Russian Federation is being vilified and sanctioned with a goal to its subordination, marginalization and eventual dismantling.

There are several reasons for this shift in attitude to Russia from the end of one cold war to the beginning of another. For one, capitalism's ongoing economic and financial instability requires new sources of investment and plunder. The vast territories and resources of the Russian Federation are enticing targets for capitalist investors. There is less tolerance by the big imperialist countries for middle-power competitors such as Russia, China and Brazil.

The leader of the Ukrainian separatists says that their efforts to get Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to accept their territory as being a part of Russia have been firmly rejected by Putin’s Government; and, so, “We will build our own country.”

(This important statement from the rebel leader Andrei Purgin on Wednesday, September 17th, was inconspicuously buried halfway through an AP news story that focused instead on “East Ukraine Casualties.” It’s common for propagandistic news reports, such as characterize the U.S. media, to bury what’s important in the news story, and not even to headline that crucial information, when that information violates the regime’s propaganda. Japan puts on hold Russian sanctions in view of possible FM talks

The Japanese government has pushed back imposing new sanctions on Russia, which it planned to impose on Friday, in expectation of a possible meeting of foreign ministers next week.

The Japanese media reported Thursday of Tokyo’s intention to issue additional sanctions against Russia. The move was discussed on Tuesday at a National Security Council meeting and was expected to be announced on Friday, but according to The Japan Times the government is yet to make a final decision.

The implementation could be postponed until at least next week, when Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida may meet his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Tokyo wants to give Moscow more time to respond to the reports of the looming sanctions, the newspaper said.

Russia has no plans to punish West with retaliatory sanctions — Putin

MOSCOW, September 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia will not pressure the West with sanctions but will pursue its own interests, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday. The introduction of protective measures is not caused by the striving to punish our partners, Putin said. "First of all, we are thinking about our own interests and development goals," he added.

Putin believes that the Western countries that adopted sanctions against Russia in fact defied the principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

“The sanctions imposed on Russia are nothing but a departure from the basic WTO principles by some of our partners,” Putin said at a meeting of the State Council on Thursday. “They violate the principle of all countries’ equal access to the markets of goods and services. They ignore the most favored nation status in trade and the principle of fair and free competition.”

2-Ukraine president asks U.S. Congress for more aid

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appealed for more U.S. assistance, including arms, in a warmly received appearance before the U.S. Congress on Thursday, but the latest offer of American help did not include the weaponry he is seeking.

"Please understand me correctly. Blankets, night-vision goggles are also important. But one cannot win the war with blankets." He added: "Even more, we cannot keep the peace with a blanket."

Drawing cheers from members who want to arm the former Soviet state, Poroshenko declared his forces "need more military equipment, both lethal and non-lethal -- urgently need."

Given the honor of a speech to the joint houses of Congress reflecting U.S. support for his country's fight against Russian-backed separatists, he said Washington should slap more sanctions on Moscow and give Ukraine a special security status.

NATO Overstep Their Charter Again, Running Guns and Weapons to the Ukraine

The single biggest threat to peace and prosperity in Europe and Eurasia today is NATO. Their insistence to further inflame the Ukraine crisis by directly arming the non-NATO member Ukrainian military, is not actually allowed in NATO’s charter. Rather, it’s a move designed to escalate tensions between NATO and Russia.

The North Atlantic Treat Organisation (NATO) was originally formed after WWII in order to offer some binding framework for mutual security in Western Europe in the face of Soviet expansion. It advertises to be a collective, but in reality, it is run and mostly financed by the United States and serves an extension arm to enforce American interests overseas. After the fall of of the Iron Curtain and the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991, instead of rolling back its activities, NATO began to expand eastward and become hyper-active in its political and military activities.

9/11 After 13 years Paul Craig Roberts

The corrupt Bush and Obama regimes used 9/11 to kill, maim, dispossess and displace millions of Muslims in seven countries, none of whom had anything whatsoever to do with 9/11.

The tragedy of September 11, 2001, goes far beyond the deaths of those who died in the towers and the deaths of firefighters and first responders who succumbed to illnesses caused by inhalation of toxic dust. For thirteen years a new generation of Americans has been born into the 9/11 myth that has been used to create the American warfare/police state.

Watching the twin towers and WTC 7 come down, it was obvious to me that the buildings were not falling down as a result of structural damage. When it became clear that the White House had blocked an independent investigation of the only three steel skyscrapers in world history to collapse as a result of low temperature office fires, it was apparent that there was a coverup.

What draws Modi to China

Modi has gleefully inherited the two key anchor sheets of India’s foreign policy – primacy on economic diplomacy and strategic autonomy.

On the other hand, under him, there has been a discernible shift in deploying strategic autonomy no longer as a ‘stand-alone’ pillar but as purposive underpinning for economic diplomacy.

Second, Modi has sifted the locus of economic diplomacy – and India’s leanings toward the Western world that went under that rubric through the past decade in foreign policy domain – away from the West to Asia.

Modi is due to visit the US in exactly twelve days from now. But there is nothing of the American rhetoric that used to mark a Manmohan Singh visit to the White House.

An idea was thought of initially to propitiate Modi by granting him the privilege of addressing the US Congress. But it has been quietly shelved.

All this certainly needs some explanation.

Jewish State and Islamic State, Like Breeds Like

When the US and its allies say they are doing what is right by humanity, and by their values, the question begging to be asked is where is their humanity and values in regard to the Palestinian people, and why are they not equally doing what is right by humanity, and by their values towards “the Jewish State” and its aggression, crimes and gross violations of human rights, international law and resolutions? — Ali Kazak(former Palestinian ambassador to Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, East Timor and the South Pacific region)

The US behaves like a lion and a superpower with Russia, China and other countries but like a pussy cat and a banana republic when dealing with Israel.

Ukraine and the neo-Nazis, Who is Behind them

Ever since serious protest broke out in Ukraine in February the Western mainstream media, particularly in the United States, has seriously downplayed the fact that the usual suspects – the US/European Union/NATO triumvirate – have been on the same side as the neo-Nazis. American Establishment Combats Resurgent ‘Isolationist’ Threat

“With communism gone, the conservative coalition should have fractured long ago. This was delayed by Sept. 11 and the rise of radical Islam. But now, 12 years into that era — after Afghanistan and Iraq, after drone wars and the NSA revelations — the natural tension between isolationist and internationalist tendencies has resurfaced.”

In 2013 it became apparent that the American people had grown averse to America’s involvement in wars, and that received empirical confirmation in a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center in November 2013, which revealed that 51 percent of Americans believed that their country’s military involvement was excessive. [1] Once again the bugaboo of isolationism entered the mainstream spotlight, the derogatory label being attached to those who would like to cut back America’s global Intervention.

ISIS Beheadings on Cue from Washington and London?

The question is this: are these shocking executions, with their highly stylized graphic videos, being used to manipulate public consent for Western military intervention in Syria? In that case, ISIS is not acting in some apparent rogue fashion, turning on its Western intelligence masters, but rather it is obeying orders as usual as part of a macabre charade to facilitate Western military intervention.

A meeting this week in Paris will allegedly firm up military tactics on how the US-led coalition will carry out its putative strikes. So far, Washington has said that it will not be committing ground troops as in the previous Iraq War (2003-2012) and the ongoing US-led campaign against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Obama said the modus operandi against ISIS would be like its “counter-terror operations in Yemen and Somalia”, where US air power is assisted by “partners on the ground”.

Ukraine Parliament Grants Self-rule to Eastern Regions

Ukraine's parliament has adopted legislation granting greater autonomy to the separatist regions in the east of the country, as well as amnesty for most of those involved in recent fighting with government forces.

The new laws, which were proposed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, are aimed at ending a five-month separatist rebellion, which to date has claimed an estimated 3,000 lives and paralyzed Ukraine politically and economically.

Under the legislation, rebel-held parts of Ukraine's eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be granted a "special status," giving them broader autonomy for a temporary three-year period. Additionally, the new laws envision aid to restore the regions’ damaged infrastructure and the provision of social and economic assistance to hard-hit areas.

Russia Threatens To Send More Troops To Crimea

Russia threatened to send more troops to its newly-annexed territory of Crimea on Tuesday, after NATO began exercises in western Ukraine while Kiev's forces are fighting pro-Russian separatists in the east.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the escalation of tensions in Ukraine and the presence of foreign military near Russia's borders made the deployment of troops a top priority in Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in March.

"The situation in Ukraine has escalated sharply and the presence of foreign military has increased in the immediate vicinity of our borders," Itar-Tass quoted Shoigu as telling military commanders.

"The deployment of proper and self-sufficient forces to Crimea is one of (our) top priorities."

Webmaster's Commentary:

(Sigh). I get so tired of people believing that the "big lie" propaganda is still believed today.

Russia did NOT annex Crimea.

After the legal government of Ukraine was overthrown by Western-sponsored putsch, and Poroschenko and his ilk were allegedly "elected", Crimea voted, in what observers call, a free and fair election, to join with the Russian Federation.

And apparently, whoever inked this drivel did not get the message; in order to get the fighting to stop, Poroshenko has signed legislation to allow the Eastern Ukraine areas more autonomy and to join the EU agreement.

KIEV, September 16 (RIA Novosti) – The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, will start ratifying its association agreement with the European Union at 1 p.m. local time (10:00 GMT), simultaneously with a European Parliament session, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Tuesday. “Today, at 1 p.m. Kiev time, we will start a procedure to ratify the EU agreement in the Verkhovna Rada simultaneously with the European Parliament,” Poroshenko wrote on his Twitter page.

During 15-26 September, the U.S. and 14 other NATO countries are holding war games in Ukraine, in order to assist the Ukrainian military to eliminate Ukraine's cultural Russians. Ukraine is not yet a NATO country, but aims to become one; and NATO under President Obama has ended being any sort of alliance for democracy, and is now instead little more than an alliance against Russia -- a Cold War alliance this time not against communism and the Soviet Union (which are long gone), but instead for American conquest, pure and simple, to dominate the entire world militarily -- including especially domination over Russia. That would then be Obama’s enduring achievement in foreign policy: extending “The American Century” into a second century.

Defense Minister Ya'alon, Foreign Minister Liberman (Arutz Sheva)
A Ukrainian delegation had visited Israel with a view to acquiring military hardware including drones to use against pro-Russian separatists, said the report on Channel Two television.

It was not reported when the visit took place, or when the decision to turn down the request was taken.
According to the report, the Defense Ministry had given the green light for the sale of pilotless aircraft produced by the company Aeronautics to Ukraine, but the foreign ministry then vetoed the sale.
The ministry apparently concluded that the sale risked causing anger in Russia and could provoke Moscow to sell more arms to Syria and Iran, both of which pose a direct security threat to Israel.

Ukrainian president submits bill offering limited self-rule for the country's separatist east in bid to end five months of bloodshed with pro-Russian rebels

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has tabled a high risk deal offering the separatist eastern part of the country limited self rule in a bid to end five months of bitter conflict which has left over 3,000 people dead.

As part of a peace plan signed with pro-Russian insurgents on September 5, the Lugansk and Donetsk regions which are currently in rebel hands, would be granted 'special status' for three years.

The draft proposals, details of which were leaked on Monday to local media, would allow the disputed region to 'strengthen and deepen' relations with neighboring Russian regions.

Mikdad: Alliances that exclude Syria, China, and Russia may have certain agendas

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said than alliances that exclude Syria, China, and Russia may have certain agendas in mind.

In a statement to al-Manar TV on Sunday, Mikdad said that the statements made in the past two days by the states that attended the meeting in Jeddah indicate that there is a real disagreement among those states, as some of them stated that they will not join the proposed alliance, while some said that they won’t arm or fund.

US envoy to Ukraine caught posting fake images on Twitter

US ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has been caught posting unverified images on his Twitter feed Monday, as he was showing off the ongoing US-Kiev military exercises in Ukraine.

Ambassador Pyatt first uploaded a picture of US and Ukrainian troops, which he said was taken in the morning at the military exercises in western Ukraine. Internet users quickly pointed out that the photo had already beenpublished as early as July 31.

The ambassador then posted a picture of a German tank allegedly taking part in the drills. His tweet said that the Leopard 2 tank is taking part in Rapid Trident exercises near Lvov.

'Secure West Point training': Ukrainian battalion leader lists US tour plans

The leader of the Donbass volunteer battalion, who actively fought in eastern Ukraine, has arrived in Washington with ambitious plans to talk with American politicians, ask for material support and even secure training at West Point for his commanders.

Semyon Semyonchenko outlined his plans in a Facebook post, informing that had just landed in the US capitol. Semyonchenko wrote that he arrived to the US as a member of a ‘Ukrainian delegation’ – presumably an unofficial group of activists – seeking material and technical support for the military operation in southeastern Ukraine.

He intends to talk with members of the US Congress on the situation in Ukraine and meet with representatives of the military to reach an agreement to send Ukrainian volunteer commanders for training at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Russia freezes Ukraine into submission: Kiev admits country doesn't have enough fuel for winter

The Ukrainian government admits that it does not have enough fuel to heat homes and keep factories running through the winter. And the crisis comes with an economy already in meltdown. It was expected to contract by 7 per cent, but Valeria Gontareva, head of the National Bank of Ukraine, warned at the weekend that the real figure is likely to be 10 per cent. Exports to Russia, a key market, will fall by 35 per cent, she added; meanwhile the currency, the hryvnia, has depreciated by 50 per cent against the dollar in the past nine months.

After Russia cut off gas supplies to Ukraine in a dispute over unpaid bills, Kiev sought to replace the shortfall through “reverse flows”, taking Russian gas from countries such as Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. But Gazprom, Russia’s state gas company, has complained over the practice, denouncing it as “ a semi fraudulent mechanism” and threatened to reduce exports to these states so that none is left to send on to Ukraine.

Dutch throw tomatoes in fruity protest against Russian boycott

Around 2000 people gathered at the main square in Amsterdam on Sunday (September 14) to join a massive tomato fight in support of the Dutch vegetable growers who are being affected by a Russian boycott of the EU agricultural products.

The popular Spanish La Tomatina festival in Buñol inspired a few young Dutch entrepreneurs to organize Amsterdam's version of the tomato fight, drawing attention to the situation of Dutch tomato farmers affected by Russian sanctions.

In the fight that lasted for one hour the participants used about 10,000 kilograms of tomatoes.

To avoid completely wasting the food, the remaining pulp will be used as a source for making biogas, according to one of the organisers, Joep Verbunt.

Washington’s War Against Russia — Paul Craig Roberts

snip: Russia, thinking the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union, opened herself to the West. Russian governments trusted the West, and as a result of Russia’s gullibility, the West was able to purchase numerous allies among the Russian elites. Depending on the alignment of the media, these compromised elites are capable of assassinating Putin and attempting a coup.

One would think that by now Putin’s government would recognize the danger and arrest the main elements of the fifth column, followed by trial and execution for treason, in order that Russia can stand united against the Western Threat. If Putin does not take this step, it means either than Putin does not recognize the extent of the threat or that his government lacks the power to protect Russia from the internal threat.

Listening to Lavrov giving up on the West

Again, the prevailing sense is one of disgust, bewilderment, and fatigue. Though somebody as diplomatic as Lavrov will never say the, the general reaction is clearly "you guys are both hopeless and in decline; we don't need, you, goodbye". This is said without anger, mostly with sadness, really.

I don't think that Russian diplomats will make a big anti-western statement at the UN or anywhere else. The opposite of love is not hatred, but indifference. And Russian officials will continue to speak of "our partners" or even "our friends", but while this nice sounding rhetoric will continue, relations with the West will gradually cease to be a priority for the Russian diplomacy, business community and even general public. In fact, Russia is already building a multi-polar world and if the West wants no part of it - tough. The Russians know that the West cannot prevent the emergence of this new world, and they don't really care if they refuse accept this reality or play by the new rules.

Fresh sanctions will freeze big foreign oil projects in Russia

Fresh U.S. and EU sanctions imposed on Moscow will bring an abrupt halt to exploration of Russia's huge Arctic and shale oil reserves and complicate financing of existing Russian projects from the Caspian Sea to Iraq and Ghana.

On Friday, the United States imposed sanctions on Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Lukoil, Surgutneftegas and Rosneft, banning Western firms from supporting their activities in exploration or production from deep water, Arctic offshore or shale projects.

The new measures, designed to put further pressure on President Vladimir Putin over Russia's actions in Ukraine, are a major broadening of the previous sanctions, which only banned the export of high technology oil equipment into Russia.

Projects now in jeopardy include a landmark drilling program by U.S. giant Exxon Mobil in the Russian Arctic that started in August as part of a joint venture with the Kremlin's oil champion Rosneft.

The American Establishment Combats Resurgent “Isolationist” Threat

It had become apparent in 2013 that the American people had grown averse to America’s involvement in wars, and this was given empirical confirmation by a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center in November 2013, which revealed that 51 percent of Americans believed that their country’s military involvement was excessive.[1] Once again the bugaboo of isolationism entered the mainstream spotlight, the derogatory label being attached to those who would like to cut back America’s global intervention.[2] Opposition to the alleged resurgent isolationism united all sectors of the mainstream establishment–liberals, moderates, and conservatives, the ultra-interventionist neoconservatives and the more moderate traditional foreign policy establishment.

Conditions Set for IMF Loan for Ukraine Facilitate Cultivation of GMO Crops

Like any lender, the IMF makes conditions when it loans money. In most countries, the IMF insists on at least the opening up of markets to foreign companies. With a bankrupt economy, Ukraine will only welcome foreign investment in its agriculture. Under article 404 of the Associative Agreement that Ukraine has signed with the EU, the country agrees to cooperate ‘to extend the use of biotechnologies’, which is the Monsanto euphemism for GMOs crops.

Cultivation of GMO crops was banned in Ukraine right up until the present leaders took power in Kiev. American GMO companies can now start large-scale cultivation of GMO modified crops, and establish a back door into the EU, where growing such crops is banned in most countries. For reasons best known to the corporations involved, hardly a word about this has been printed in world’s mainstream press.

Ukraine accuses Putin of seeking to ‘eliminate’ country

Kiev accused Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday of seeking to “eliminate” Ukraine as an independent state, despite signing up to a fragile peace pact to end months of bloody conflict.

The comments by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk came as Ukraine’s military said it had beaten back a major rebel assault on Donetsk airport, a key battleground in the five-month insurgency in eastern Ukraine.

Yatsenyuk told an international conference in Kiev that Putin was deliberately keeping Ukraine in a state of war to create a “frozen conflict” in Russia’s backyard.

“His aim is not just to take Donetsk and Lugansk,” Yatsenyuk said, referring to the industrial regions where separatists fighting Kiev’s rule have declared their own republics.

“His goal is to take the entire Ukraine… he wants to eliminate Ukraine as an independent country,” Yatsenyuk said. “He wants to restore the Soviet Union.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having an industrial strength, palm to forehead moment, at velocity, upon reading this.

This is truly desperation on the cusp of madness.

Yatsenyuk's real problem, as the winter gets colder, is that Ukraine is both unable to pay it's past due gas bill to Gazprom, and pay for future deliveries of gas.

As reported on June 7, 2014, at worldbulletin.net:

Ukraine will owe Russia about $5.2 billion for natural gas as of June 7 if it makes no payments by that date, the CEO of state-controlled Russian gas exporter Gazprom, Alexei Miller, said on Wednesday. Gazprom says Ukraine now owes more than $3.5 billion, and has threatened to stop supplying the neighbouring former Soviet republic with gas if it fails to make a pre-payment for June supplies by June 2. Miller told President Vladimir Putin that Ukraine would consume a total of 3.5 billion cubic metres of Russian gas in May worth around $1.7 billion, increasing Kiev's gas debt. "Thus, by June 7, Ukraine's obligations for gas payments will top $5.2 billion," Miller told Putin, repeating Gazprom's position that it will supply as much gas as Ukraine pays for.

As the winter in Ukraine gets colder, and his constituents are, literally, freezing to death, he is going to have one thoroughly ticked-off Ukrainian populace to deal with.

End Of Empire - The 'De-Dollarization' Chart That China And Russia Are Banking On

History did not end with the Cold War and, as Mark Twain put it, whilst history doesn’t repeat it often rhymes. As Alexander, Rome and Britain fell from their positions of absolute global dominance, so too has the US begun to slip. America’s global economic dominance has been declining since 1998, well before the Global Financial Crisis. A large part of this decline has actually had little to do with the actions of the US but rather with the unraveling of a century’s long economic anomaly. China has begun to return to the position in the global economy it occupied for millenia before the industrial revolution. Just as the dollar emerged to global reserve currency status as its economic might grew, so the chart below suggests the increasing push for de-dollarization across the 'rest of the isolated world' may be a smart bet...

Gaza and the Threat of World War

On 31 July, the National Defense Panel in Washington published a remarkable document that called for the United States to prepare to fight six major wars simultaneously. At the top of the list were Russia and China – nuclear powers.

In one sense, a war against Russia has already begun. While the world watched horrified as Israel assaulted Gaza, similar atrocities in eastern Ukraine were barely news. At the time of writing, two Ukrainian cities of Russian-speaking people – Donetsk and Luhansk – are under siege: their people and hospitals and schools blitzed by a regime in Kiev that came to power in a putsch led by neo-Nazis backed and paid for by the United States. The coup was the climax of what the Russian political observer Sergei Glaziev describes as a 20-year “grooming of Ukrainian Nazis aimed at Russia”. Actual fascism has risen again in Europe and not one European leader has spoken against it, perhaps because the rise of fascism across Europe is now a truth that dares not speak its name.

Putin: New EU sanctions 'odd', Russia will consider safe alternatives, won't harm itself

The latest list of sanctions looks “quite odd” in view of the peace drive including a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said as the EU’s restricting measures came into force Friday.

Speaking after a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Putin said that Russia has not ruled out responding with tit-for-tat sanctions. At the same time, he said, those measures would only be implemented if they did not harm Russia, and if they would help protect the country.

"The government is thinking about that. But if they are to be imposed, this will be to create better conditions for ourselves,” Putin said.

As for trade partnerships and cooperation in sectors targeted by the EU sanctions, Putin said that “there is always an alternative” in case somebody “does not want to work with Russia.”

U.S. Fear/War Mongers Win This Round

The fear/war mongers got to the New York Times editorial board between May 23, 2013 and September 10, 2014. The Times and President Obama both gave in to the wrong people.

The American public doesn’t want to go to war unless there is something out there that frightens them.

This explains why all of our wars have been preceded by dire warnings of what will happen if we don’t militarily engage the enemy.
In President Obama’s Wednesday night speech, he repudiated his own caution and prudence by falling in line with those who think there is no fear out there that war cannot overcome.

The New York Times editorial board sonorously endorsed the President’s decision under a headline that informs the nation that the drums of war have had their effect: “The Attack on ISIS Expands to Syria,”

Obama takes hypocrisy to new high levels

In laying out his plans to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIS, President Obama said this: “America, our endless blessings bestow an enduring burden. But as Americans, we welcome our responsibility to lead. From Europe to Asia, from the far reaches of Africa to war-torn capitals of the Middle East, we stand for freedom, for justice, for dignity. These are values that have guided our nation since its founding.”

There’s an old English, somewhat vulgar, four-letter word which in my view sums up that statement. CRAP. (The dictionary definition of it is “excrement, rubbish, dirt, worthless nonsense.”)

An informed visitor from another planet who listened to Obama would scratch his head and say, “Has the president not heard about the occupied and oppressed Palestinians and their long struggle for freedom, justice and dignity?”

Amnesty International urges Egypt to withdraw NGO law

Amnesty International called for “urgent action” against the “draconian” Law on Associations (Law 84/2002) calling on activists to write to the Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly, in a statement released on Wednesday.

“The authorities are continuing to propose new legislation that would give them sweeping powers over NGO registration, funding and activities,” the Amnesty International statement read.

On 18 July, the Ministry of Social Solidarity warned all NGOs to register under Law 84 by 2 September or “be held accountable according to the law”.

The Egyptian authorities decided on 31 August to extend a deadline for NGOs to register until 10 November, asserting that non-registered NGOs will face the threat of “accountability” measures, which are likely to include closure and criminal prosecution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Egyptian law does not ban NGOs, but asks NGOs to register and show where they get their money and show their bank accounts, something that Putin did also in Russia after Pussy riots in Russia during the last presidential elections. NGOs have been exposed as fronts for US Government overthrows of other governments, including USAID and CANVAS which toppled the elected government of Ukraine last January.

That Amnesty International is trying to protect the sources of funding for NGOs suggest that they are also a covert front group for intelligence operations!

While Obama Snoozes, Russia Is Preparing For Nuclear War With The United States

Did you know that two Russian bombers practiced launching cruise missiles at the United States from a spot in the North Atlantic just the other day? And did you know that Russia is spending massive amounts of money to build and test new nuclear weapons systems? Meanwhile, the Obama administration is doing absolutely nothing to upgrade the U.S. nuclear arsenal. Our nuclear officers are actually still using floppy disks and other computer technologyfrom the 1960s. The size of the U.S. nuclear arsenal has been reduced by about 95 percent from the peak of the Cold War, and Barack Obama has spoken of even more dramatic reductions. Obama is snoozing even as a Russian general speaks of the need to “spell out the conditions under which Russia would launch a preemptive nuclear strike” against the United States. Obama appears to be entirely convinced that a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia is not even a remote possibility.

Poland says Russia's gas deliveries cut by half

Poland's PGNiG gas utility on Thursday said its gas deliveries from Russia's Gazprom had now been cut by half, against a background of tension over the Ukraine crisis.

"The decline in deliveries was at 45 percent" on Wednesday, PGNiG said in a statement a day after announcing gas had been cut by 24 percent, a claim Gazprom rejected as "incorrect."

Tensions are running high between the countries over the escalating Ukraine conflict, where Poland has backed the government forces battling separatists in the country's east. The head of Ukraine's main gas utility Ukrtransgaz, Igor Prokopiv, said the reduction was made with "the goal of cutting the reverse flow we are receiving" from EU states.

Several eastern EU states are supplying Kiev with gas after Russia stopped deliveries in mid-June after a pro-Western government took power, accusing Ukraine of not paying its bills.

Export ban the real reason for Eagle Ford gas flaring

HOUSTON – The San Antonio Express-News recently published a remarkable investigation into the vast quantity of natural gas from Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale that’s going to waste, as producers flare it off rather than store it and bring it to market.

The series will no doubt win some awards, and deservedly so, as it’s scrupulously fair to the industry and environmentalists, making the repeated point the waste is by no means arbitrary: natural gas prices are simply too low to incentivize much investment in pipelines and other necessary infrastructure.

The reporters even point out the Environmental Protection Agency’s new permitting requirements for pipelines have made it even more time-consuming and costly to build them, which makes it even less likely they’ll get built.

PLEASE READ: If People Were Countries.....

If People Were Countries.....
(or, how to avert nuclear war, public or private)

remember, everyone, when things get heated, to CALM DOWN.

there is a point in any conflictual communication where one feels one absolutely must raise one's (virtual) voice, lose one's cool; where not to do so is a detriment to oneself and the meaning in one's life.

soon as the emotional barbs are answered in kind, one might as well give up. 'Innocent until proven guilty' -- how one feels and where one draws the line of acceptable stretching of the truth is not as important.

-- 'to protect my honor' or to 'back up my principles' or 'to protect' others -- worse, to 'not lose face' --

these are the game changers, the seemingly unique and rare set of events that will suddenly convince a large number of people to get involved, people who steadfastly opposed getting involved up to that point.

sound familiar?

Ukraine - U.S. Meddling Dims Prospects for Peace

The Minsk Ceasefire Protocol has very little chance of succeeding. In fact, the meeting between the warring parties was not convened to stop the violence as much as it was to buy time for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to retreat and regroup.

An important question emerges: In the light of the DSB report findings, will president Obama retract his accusations directed against the Russian Federation?

The photographic evidence indicating machine gun like perforations (“numerous small holes”) suggest that the plane was hit by a military aircraft:

New Iraqi Government Will Abide by U.S. Regional Goals

You see the disastrous U.S. policy in Iraq and their attempts to defeat the Assad government and the Syrian army were actually kind of shooting themselves in the knee, because it was based on false assumption and, incredibly, overestimation of oppositional forces and the underestimation of the interests of Russia and Iran and so on, especially in Syria. So now what they're trying to do: they're trying to utilize the conflict in Iraq with the Islamic State to expand and extend the war against, again, the government of al-Assad and the Syrian army, utilizing now the Islamic State.

The 9/11 Triple Cross

Three major thesis are in competition concerning the culprit of the 9/11 attacks:

1. Islam Job: the official conclusion of the 9/11 Commission, blaming Muslim terrorists in general, and Osama bin Laden in particular;
2. Inside Job: the dominant thesis within the so-called 9/11 Truth movement, which accuses the American government, or a faction within the American Deep State;
3. Mossad Job: the rising alternative thesis within the community of truth seekers, which claim that the masterminds were a Zionist network close to the Israeli Likud.
There are variations on each thesis and middle grounds between them, but three camps can clearly be distinguished: Acknowledging this reality, by renouncing the bipolar vision of an information warfare between official liars and 9/11 truthers, and paying attention to the debate (or absence of the debate) between Inside-jobbers and Mossad-jobbers, is the first step toward a paradigm shift in “9/11ology”.
