Palestinians prepare to submit statehood resolution to U.N.

Palestinian leaders plan to give the United Nations a final draft of a statehood resolution on Monday. The document calls for reaching a peace deal with Israel within a year that would include an end to Israeli control of Palestinian territories by late 2017. The proposal would establish a state called Palestine — its capital in East Jerusalem — alongside Israel. The Israeli government supports negotiations but opposes U.N. action, saying that imposing a third-party timeline would deepen the conflict.

Now Homeland upsets Israel: Controversial scene in season finale prompts fury after former prime minister Menachem Begin is compared to fictional Taliban leader

The pair are discussing the possibility of protecting fictional Afghan Taliban leader, Haissam Haqqani, in order to ensure that he will not give political asylum to terrorists.

Berenson describes Haqqani as a terrorist who 'recently killed 36 Americans'.

Adal responds: 'Menachem Begin killed 91 British soldiers at the King David hotel before he became prime minister.'

The Homeland CIA agent was referring to a bombing at the King David hotel in Jerusalem in 1946 that was carried out by the Irgun, a right-wing militant Jewish organization which was headed by Menachem Begin.

Israeli digging causes collapse near Western Wall

Israeli excavations under the al-Aqsa Mosque have caused collapse just meters away from the Western Wall of East al-Quds (Jerusalem), Press TV reports.

The wall is located at the foot of the western side of Haram al-Sharif, or the Noble Sanctuary, one of the most important religious sites in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds (Jerusalem).

The collapse came about on Friday in an area in Silwan south of al-Aqsa where the tunnels dug by the Israelis start. Following the incident, the Israeli police sealed off the site and forbade anyone from approaching it.

407 Jewish settlers forced way into Al-Aqsa for Hanukkah

At least 407 Jewish settlers forced their way into East Jerusalem's flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque complex during this week's Hanukkah holidays, a Palestinian NGO said Thursday.

The Al-Aqsa Foundation for Endowments and Heritage said that, from Sunday to Thursday, 407 Israelis – protected by Israeli police – had conducted individual and group tours inside the mosque complex.

Of these, 52 were young Israeli troops who entered the complex in military uniform as part of a so-called "guidance and exploration" program, the NGO said.

"Occupation forces harassed Muslim worshippers at the gates of the mosque complex, arresting 20 over the past week," it added.

It went on to say that detained worshippers had been subsequently released after being subject to monetary fines and barred from entering the Al-Aqsa complex for periods ranging from two weeks to one month.

Israeli officials could not be reached for comment on the issue.

Iran’s New “Suicidal” Bomb

I would like to grasp what the Israeli media means when it tags a bomb ‘suicidal’? Does it leave a note before it plunges into an IDF’s headquarter? Are IDF’s guided missiles targeting Palestinian family homes also suicidal bombs? Do the Israelis expect the new Iranian drone to “knock on the roof” just before it goes off? Or does a bomb becoming suicidal only when it is set to hit a Jewish strategic target?

US senator Graham threatens to defund UN over Palestine bid

Visiting US Senator Lindsey Graham threatened Saturday to withhold US funding from the UN, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out at the Palestinian Authority, a day after a senior Palestinian official said the PA will push for a UN vote on the Palestinian statehood bid by Monday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Go ahead, Lindsey; yank the US funding. Then the UN will have no problem kicking both the US out, which means Israel will no longer have the almighty US veto to protect itself in the Security Council. As for the UN, they will have to act against this obvious intimidation tactic by the US or risk losing what little remains of their credibility.

NY Times says a Palestinian majority would ‘endanger Israel’s democratic ideals’

And: “a Palestinian majority” would not just endanger Israel’s Jewish character, but its “democratic ideals?” Isn’t that like saying democracy would endanger a democracy? Not when you’re talking about Arabs! Writes Donald Johnson: “Imagine them saying that about any other ethnic group in the world. Interpreted charitably, they might be saying that a one state solution might lead to ethnic strife between extremists on one or both sides, or something like that, but if so, they should spell it out. Their brains just shut down when writing on this subject.”

The racism against Palestinians in the mainstream press is so casual it’s shocking. People would be picketed if they wrote this about an American ethnic group.

The Shared Genetic Heritage of Jews and Palestinians

The Times recently carried this unusual report on an Israeli Jew (Tsvi Misinai, a retired computer expert) who’s hoping to prove that Palestinians are descended from Jews. Apparently, he thinks that proving this will help to stop the bloodshed. His idea is that modern Jews are descended from emigration in the first few centuries of the Christian era. The Jews who stayed put in Palestine converted to Islam, and became Palestinian Arabs. There’s hope that genetic tests might be able to prove this.

2014 a game-changer in Palestine By Ramzy Baroud

Not only was 2014 a year in which BDS managed to win the support of numerous civil society organizations, academicians, scientists, celebrities and to reach out to people from all walks of life, it did something else that is equally important: It normalized the debate on Israel in many circles around the world. While any criticism of Israel was considered a taboo in yesteryears, it has been forever broken.

Questioning the morality and practicality of boycotting Israel is no longer a frightening subject, but is open for debate in numerous media outlets, universities and other platforms.

IDF Deploys Iron Dome in Prep for Possible Gaza War

After sniper fire critically wounds soldier and Hamas terrorist leader killed, IDF taking steps indicating escalation may be on the way.

After a Bedouin IDF soldier was critically wounded on Wednesday by terrorist sniper fire from southern Gaza, the IDF lifted a gag order late Thursday acknowledging it has deployed Iron Dome missile defense batteries in Israel's south.

The two batteries were placed in the Be'er Sheva region and Netivot region, but according to Walla! the IDF didn't elaborate regarding the reason for placing the batteries at this particular junction in time at those particular locations - both of which were hard hit in Operation Protective Edge.

However, the general assessment is that the IDF is preparing for a possible escalation with Hamas after the Wednesday attack that could easily lead to another operation, which would make the fourth since 2008, a year after Hamas violently wrested control over Gaza.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, the writer of this article believes that winning an election, which was precisely what Hamas did in 2008, equates to having "violently wrested control over Gaza."

Folks, if Israel goes into Gaza again, it will be indulging in serial genocide against the Palestinians: there is no pretty, clean way to put this.

IF they get GPS coordinates for schools and hospitals from the UN's human rights Rapporteur for Gaza, sheltering women and children, the IDF will again use that information for blowing up those facilities, with refugees still within them, insisting that it was the Palestinians who booby trapped them with bombs, so the buildings had to be... eliminated. That the innocent will die and be maimed for life in these attacks is of no concern to either the Israeli government or the IDF.

And if this happens, I would almost be willing to bet real money that it will happen right between Christmas and New Year's celebrations, when most of the world's leadership is taking it easy, and Americans are focused on food and football.

Redress Online: BBC executive Danny Cohen publicly endorses key Zionist mantra

A senior BBC executive has publicly come out as an advocate of Zionism.

Danny Cohen, who is the director of BBC Television, claimed that anti-Semitism has become so bad that he has to question the long-term future for Jews in Britain.

Danny Cohen, Director of BBC TV

He stopped short of calling on British Jews to emigrate to Israel or of endorsing Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s intention to change the Israeli constitution to define Israel as “the nation state of one people only – the Jewish people – and of no other people”.

A basic tenet of Zionism – and a key principle underlying the foundation of Israel – is that Jews and gentiles are incompatible, that whenever Jews and gentiles mix there will be anti-Semitism and that, therefore, the state of Israel exists as a safe haven for Jews escaping anti-Semitism.

Netanyahu sends formal message to all Christians

Netanyahu has wished Christians in Israel and throughout the world a Merry Christmas.

In a videotaped message, he claimed that Christians are subject to persecution throughout the Middle East, except in Israel. (!!)

“Christian communities across the Middle East are experiencing a particularly difficult time, with violence, persecution and fear,” Netanyahu said.

“Here in Israel, religious freedom is a sacred principle. Israel’s Christian citizens enjoy the full blessing of freedom and democracy. Their equal rights are enshrined in Israeli law. Let us remember the common heritage and values that unite us in the face of extremism and hatred, which we will never accept,” he said.

The reality, of course, is that Christians are routinely exterminated in Palestine, since almost all Christians are Palestinian. (The rest are Armenians, or else they are foreign visitors who worship Jews.) Ten percent of all Arabs in Palestine are Christian. Jews call them “Notzri.”

The essence of the Palestinian struggle is the battle against Zionism. It is a battle against its racism, against its murderous war crimes, against its insatiable territorial hunger, against its disdain for non-Jewish human rights, and against its devoted attempts to destroy Palestinian national identity. As voices of normalization are on the rise, and social media is invaded by paid pro-Zionist bloggers, there is an increased need for anti-Zionists to draw attention to the crimes committed by ‘Israel’, and to speak up against the ongoing media silence and the apologist activities of those misleadingly portraying themselves as ‘peace doves’. Boulder group backs ads against U.S. support for Israel 'war crimes'

It's unlikely that the buses bearing the controversial messages will be seen in Boulder County, but local activists are voicing their support for a round of ads that debuted in the Denver metro area last week decrying Israel's ongoing conflict with Palestinians.

The ads, which first appeared on the sides of seven RTD buses Dec. 17, read: "Israel's War Crimes, Your Tax Dollars at Work." They bear the image of a Palestinian woman weeping while sitting in a pile of rubble, along with the web address stopfundingapartheid.org.

The site is maintained by the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign, a group dedicated to "breaking the information blockade" about war crimes it alleges the Israeli government has committed over the years against the Palestinian people. BBC’s Kafkaesque response to complaint over Gaza coverage

Last month, the BBC sent an email to the UK-based campaigning organization Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), which was almost comical in its arrogance.

It was a response to a complaint made by PSC in October that BBC online reports were referring to the Gaza ceasefire as holding, despite the fact that by the end of October, Israel had breached the ceasefire numerous times since it was signed on 26 August.

In fact, Israel has fired on Palestinians in Gaza almost on a daily basis.

In its initial complaint, PSC referred to the website of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), which documents incidents of ceasefire breaches. These breaches had been collated in an article published by Middle East Monitor (MEMO), which reported that there was more than one Israeli attack on Gaza every day in September. The MEMO article was also included in PSC’s submission.

Hebron elder fights back as Israeli soldiers seize 10-year-old boys

This video shows Israeli occupation forces violently arresting two young boys, allegedly for throwing stones, as adults try to protect the children.

Christian Peacemaker Teams, which released the video, says that it shows the arrests of Mohammed Nabil Taha and Akram Zayed al-Jamal, both aged ten, on 17 December.

The video comes in the same week that another group, Defence for Children International–Palestine, released new testimonies from Palestinian children subjected to torture and solitary confinement in Israeli military custody.

The boys were “visibly shaking and crying while the Israeli border police held them in custody for thirty minutes at Qitoun checkpoint 209 in Hebron,” Christian Peacemaker Teams, a civilian group that monitors life under Israeli military occupation in Hebron, says.

Israeli soldier seriously wounded in exchange of fire on Gaza border

An Israel Defense Forces soldier was seriously wounded on Wednesday when Palestinian snipers opened fire at troops guarding construction work at the security fence near the southern Gaza Strip.

The IDF opened tank and aircraft fire in response to the sniper shots, killing the commander of the Hamas Al-Qassam Brigades' observation unit, Taysr Asmiri. Several others were wounded. The Israeli army sources say that the sniper was affiliated with Hamas.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That is what Israel initially said about the rocket fired into an empty lot in Israel last week, only to be forced to admit that outside provateurs had been behind it. How lucky for Israel that snipers show up just in time to restart Israel's war against Gaza, which only a week ago Israel's defense minister announced was being planned!

Palestine, Israel and the News Media

On November 18 of this year, the news media was awash with the news of the killing of four rabbis at a synagogue in Jerusalem. This is headline news for CNN and the New York Times, the latter of which had the nerve to say this: “Witnesses and Israeli leaders were particularly horrified at the religious overtones of an attack on a synagogue….”

Where, one may naively ask, were these august news outlets during the past several weeks, as Israeli settlers, protected and even aided by Israeli soldiers, desecrated sacred mosques in Jerusalem? Where were the horrified reports of dead and bloodied Palestinians? What about the complete desecration of Muslim holy sites? Were no witnesses and Palestinian ‘leaders horrified at the religious overtones of an attack on a’ mosque?

Rabbis plan to build temple on Al-Aqsa ruins

In the clearest indication of the growing dangers threatening Al-Aqsa Mosque, in an opinion piece published on Saturday, Haaretz discussed a group of rabbis who met to discuss the scheme for the establishment of the Third Temple on the ruins of the mosque. The newspaper published a photograph of a number of rabbis and engineers studying a map of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a piece written by Professor Ronnie Ellenblum entitled "Bells are ringing for the ultra-Orthodox and Secular" [hebrew], the paper discussed the future of Al-Aqsa Mosque which Jews refer to as the Temple Mount.

Although the paper did not identify the rabbis who appeared in the picture, one of them has been identified as Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, president of the Temple Institute, a religious authority that is considered the most enthusiastic about destroying Al-Aqsa Mosque and establishing a temple on its ruins.

Israelis buy properties in ISIL-held Iraqi cities: Report

A report says Israeli businessmen are buying properties belonging to the displaced minorities in the ISIL-held regions in northern Iraq to prepare the ground for accommodation of more than 2,000 people there.

Citing a local source, Fars News Agency reported that estate agencies in Mosul and other cities of the Nineveh province in northern Iraq have began purchasing the houses and lands of Iraqi minorities including Christians and Izadis and Turkmens.

The estate agents offer “attractive prices” in exchange for the properties and later sell them to Israeli businessmen, the unnamed source said.

The source added that more than 2,000 Jews have recently returned to Iraq’s Kurdistan region to resettle in Iraq’s northern areas.

Israel violates Gaza ceasefire nearly every day

After Israeli warplanes bombed Gaza on Friday, the BBC described the air strike on “a Hamas facility” as “the first such action since the declaration of a truce in August.”

The short BBC News item, essentially a repackaged Israeli army press statement, added that the strike was “in response” to a rocket fired earlier from Gaza.

The casual reader would understand this to mean that Israel has held its fire since the August ceasefire which ended the intensive bombing this summer that claimed more than 2,200 Palestinian lives.

However, the reality is that Israel has fired on Palestinians in Gaza nearly every day since the 26 August truce.

The interest of the 'only democracy in the Middle East' is to block democracy in the Middle East

The so-called 'Arab Spring' has certainly reinforced the perception that the Middle East is a hotbed of intractable conflicts. Israel has never ceased to use this stereotype to its advantage, reminding the world that it is a beacon of democracy surrounded by hostile countries. The truth, however, is far more complex; and Israel's status in the region is not as unique as its supporters would like to claim.

Israel's ambivalent regional role can be made clear through one of the many remarkable aspects of the 2011 revolutions, that is, the way in which the Arab Spring presented contrasting fortunes for Israel and its Arab neighbours. During the early months of the revolutions, Israel looked to be the biggest loser; now and for the foreseeable future, it stands to be the biggest gainer.

Israeli official warns that another war against Gaza is looming

An Israeli official has warned that a new Israeli war on the Gaza Strip is coming soon. He stressed, however, that wars are only decided on by politicians, local media has reported.

"In the light of the current escalation, war with Gaza is just a matter of time," claimed the head of the Israeli settlement of Eshkol in the Western Negev, Hayim Yilin. The Israeli authorities claimed on Friday that a projectile launched from the south of the Gaza Strip landed in the illegal settlement. It is alleged to have been the third to be launched since the Israeli war on Gaza during the summer.

Israel Airstrike Hits Hamas Site In Gaza

Israel's military struck a Hamas site in the Gaza Strip early Saturday in its first airstrike on the Palestinian territory since this summer's war.

The Israeli military said the airstrike on what it called a "Hamas terror infrastructure site" in the southern Gaza Strip was in response to a rocket fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Friday. The rocket fire caused no injuries.

Palestinian residents reported hearing two explosions in the Khan Yunis region of Gaza, in an area that contains training sites for Palestinian militants. No injuries were immediately reported.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, an Israeli army spokesman, said Israel's military "will not permit any attempt to undermine the security and jeopardize the well being of the civilians of Israel. The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible and accountable for today's attack against Israel."

Webmaster's Commentary:

This started yesterday, and appears to be open-ended on the part of the Israeli military.

They are most probably bombing schools and hospitals with great glee, even though there were absolutely no reports of injuries where these shells exploded.

I am fully expecting, with Obama off-site, and Americans generally preoccupied with Christmas and New Year's, that the IDF will continue bombing Gaza for as long as they believe they can get away with it.

The Israeli government has got to be made to understand that it cannot continue to wave the Holocaust in the face of the world, while practicing serial genocide against Gazan Palestinians, because this is precisely what is happening.

A few dead here...a few more maimed for live and wounded over there... and the Israeli government thinks, who notices?!?

To the Israeli government and Knesset; the world notices. The question is what the world is willing to do, and I think the will to demonstrate, tangibly, that this is totally unacceptable, is growing among the civilized countries of the world.

Netanyahu shatters Israel's image By Alon Ben-Meir

snip: Ending the occupation and establishing a Palestinian state is certainly good for the Palestinians, but it serves Israel's needs and future wellbeing far more so than the Palestinians. Every Israeli who bought into the argument that the Palestinians are an irredeemable foe must now reexamine the falsity of this belief.

The old and tired narratives Netanyahu and his emissaries keep promulgating about how untrustworthy the Palestinians are - about their bad intent, about the Gaza experience, about the Palestinians' perpetual hatred, about their long-term strategy to destroy Israel, and about Israel's constant and grave security concerns - no longer resonate.

Shattering Israel's Image

No Israeli government has shattered Israel's international image more than the Netanyahu government has over the past six years. Not only have Netanyahu and his cohorts systematically been engaged in rancorous public narratives against the Palestinians, but they have taken action that could only attest to his unwavering commitment to expand the settlements and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. Although the Palestinians have also contributed to the enmity and distrust between the two sides, the conduct of Netanyahu and company has left Israel isolated and scorned while dramatically shifting international public opinion in favor of the Palestinians.

Palestinians criticize Canada for boycotting meeting on Israeli settlements

Israeli war jets bombed targets in the southern Gaza Strip, witnesses and the army said early Saturday, hours after a projectile from the besieged Palestinian enclave hit open ground in southern Israel.

A spokesman for Gaza's health ministry said there were no casualties in the attack, the first airstrike by Israel on the Palestinian enclave since the summer truce that ended Israel's 50-day assault on Gaza which killed over 2,000 Palestinians, the overwhelming majority of them civilians.

The Israeli army confirmed the strike, which it said "targeted a Hamas terror infrastructure site."

Webmaster's Commentary:

You need to ask yourself if Palestine would fire a single rocket into Israel just as the resolutions on Palestine are about to go before the Security Council. And a moment's thought suggests that Palestine is not that stupid and this is another Israel false-flag.

John Kerry already indicated the US would veto all Palestinian Resolutions, but this is uncomfortable for the US Government as it underscores that they are slaves to Israel. Better for the US and better for Israel if the resolutions are "interrupted." Hence an Israeli collaborator in Israel fires a fireworks rocket into an empty lot in Israel and Israel uncorks a new major military offensive as their "Final Solution to the Palestinian Question."

Children In Gaza Were Asked To Draw What The Future Of Gaza Looks Like

UNICEF asked children to draw what they think the future of Gaza looks like. Their drawings capture the hopes and dreams that everything will be all right in the end.

The conflict between Gaza and Israel until now has cost over 2000 lives, including those of more than 500 children. As many as 10,000 people were injured, including 3000 children. Many children in Gaza lost their family members due to the violence. It is estimated that more than 400,000 children are showing signs of psychological distress and UNICEF is trying to help them by training more than 12.000 teachers to provide the support they truly need, and supporting psychosocial programs.

Israel attacks Hamas site in Gaza

The Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that an Israeli aircraft fired rockets at a military installation northwest of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. According to the report no-one was injured in the attack.

The IDF said that the attack was launched in response to a rocket that was fired on Friday from Gaza and exploded in an open area in Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel, close to the Gaza border. No injuries or damage were reported in this incident.

Israel Breaks Cease-Fire by Bombing Gaza

Israel’s airstrikes violate the cease-fire that followed the country’s “Protective Edge” military attacks on Gaza earlier this year.

Israeli warplanes launched two airstrikes in eastern Al-Qarara - Khanyounis city, teleSUR’s correspondent in Gaza Noor Harazeen reported.

She said the rocket fire, a “violation of the truce” following Israel’s Protective Edge bombing campaign earlier this year, “is one of the most serious attacks on Gaza.”

Other people in the area have reported that there are blackouts in part of Gaza, such as Khan Younis.

Germany To Try Auschwitz Guard Charged With 300,000 Counts Of Accessory To Murder

A German court says a 93-year-old man charged with 300,000 counts of accessory to murder for serving as an SS guard at the Nazis' Auschwitz death camp will go on trial early next year.

The Lueneburg state court said Tuesday its review of the prosecution's case against Oskar Groening determined there was enough evidence to proceed with the trial. The starting date has not been announced.

Groening has openly talked in interviews about his time as a guard and says he witnessed atrocities but didn't commit any crimes himself.

Pro-Palestine Parliaments – Hopes and Dangers

The European Parliament, after a late compromise in pursuit of consensus, passed on December 17, by a vote of 498 to 88 with 111 abstentions, a resolution stating that it “supports in principle recognition of Palestinian statehood and the two-state solution and believes these should go hand in hand with the development of peace talks, which should be advanced.”

This compromise language bypasses the fundamental question of when the State of Palestine should be recognized, using vague words whose imprecision neither those who genuinely wish to achieve a decent “two-state solution” (and thus support recognizing Palestine now so as to finally make meaningful negotiations possible) nor those who support perpetual occupation (and thus argue that recognition should await prior Israeli consent) can strongly object to.

Speculation upon the Cause of Israel did 911 Denial.

I’ve taken a long and circuitous route to get to where I wanted to get in this posting. All that has preceded it sets the stage for the wide angle mindset of the masses. 9/11 was an Inside Job that was done by Israel, in tandem with domestic and foreign intelligence agencies. The proof of this, should you care to look, is overwhelmingly conclusive from the circumstantial, independent of all the hard core evidence. If you are at all curious, you can find more than you will have time to study and all of it, which is the fruit of legitimate, non agenda driven inquiry, points to the same players. So what is the why of people’s indifference to this shocking picture of murderous treachery, on the part of a supposed good friend and ally, and the willful and conscious treason of individuals sworn to protect their country? Even before this we have the U.S. Liberty, which Israel bombed in a desire to fuel a wider war.

The Jewish Cosmopolitans Have Reached The Anal Stage

Two month ago, we became aware of an utterly gross video ‘installation’ by Natalie Cohen-Waxberg. In the video, Cohen-Waxberg poo-ed over many national flags including Arab flags. At the time, I didn’t notice any Jewish Left organisations criticise Cohen-Waxberg’s production.

The hatred of Jewish progressives for the Goyim and the nations of the world is cause for great concern. History reveals that it wasn’t Zionism that disturbed the National Socialists and many Europeans in the 1930’s; it was actually Jewish cosmopolitanism and cultural Marxists.

U.S. seeks to counter Palestinian UN resolution with alternative offer, says French diplomat

EU coal in Israel’s sock

The bad news for Israel keeps on coming, and judging by the reactions of Israeli and U.S. politicians, more is yet to come.

The Israelis were aghast at the news that a European court found that Hamas should be removed from the EU’s terror list. Benjamin Netanyahu reacted with his predictable buffoonery and bombast, alleging that Europe has “learned nothing” from the Holocaust.

The reality is that Israel has learned nothing from several decades of warnings by its friends and allies, who have repeatedly said Israeli indifference to human rights law, the provisions of Geneva Conventions, and the realities of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would lead only to stalemate and backlash.

These steps have left the US in an awkward position and it has still to declare whether or not it would use its veto were a UN resolution on Palestinian statehood recognition to come up soon. Officials have also implied it is not yet set in stone how the US would vote whether a timetable for Israeli withdrawal from [occupied] East Jerusalem and the West Bank was introduced, Jordan having last month circulated a draft motion scheduling November 2016 as a deadline.”

WAR CRIMES: Israel’s ‘Collective Punishment’ of Gaza Released Amid Palestinian Push for Statehood

The human rights group Amnesty International has charged that Israel was in violation of humanitarian law due to the deliberate destruction of civilian buildings in the Gaza Strip following a brutal siege over the summer dubbed Operation Brother’s Keeper.

According to a recent investigative report by Amnesty International, Israel’s actions were tantamount to war crimes based on their unjustified destruction of buildings in the Gaza Strip between August 23-26 of 2014. Even though there were no civilian casualties during the decimation of those buildings, the advocacy group report states that the ‘collective punishment’ was without justification and in clear violation of the international community.

Predictably, Israel has asserted that the buildings destroyed have been allegedly linked to Hamas and that Amnesty International has fallen prey to a conspiratorial plot crafted by Hamas. However, there has been no definitive proof offered by Israel to prove this claim.
