FLASHBACK 1999 - “It’s not ‘Regime Change’ America wants, but ‘Region Change.’”: Historic Interview With Tariq Aziz

Tariq Aziz doesn’t hide his anger and frustration when speaking of his country’s plight:

“This is a region of conflicts, upheavals, revolutions, but this is the first time such rigid and comprehensive sanctions have been imposed anywhere.

“Prior to the embargo we had a high standard of free education from primary school to university and free health care. But one cannot live alone in the world. Nations need to trade, to buy and sell. There has been a sharp deterioration in health, social services, electricity, clean water.”

Seated in his Baghdad office, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister lists countless further examples of the misery inflicted by sanctions, from how the collapse of the Dinar has slashed the income of once well paid professionals to the equivalent of $3 a month, to the way the world’s former number one date producer is prohibited from selling its crop.

Iraq Residents: ‘We Know America is Providing ISIS with Weapons & Food’

The people of Iraq are increasingly blaming the United States for the spread of ISIS in their country, a Wall Street Journal report reveals.

While interviewing Iraqi refugees in a tent city in Baghdad, journalist Yaroslav Trofimov discovered that a growing number of residents believe ISIS is receiving direct support from the American government.

“We all know that America is providing ISIS with weapons and food, and that it is because of American backing that they have become so strong,” said Abbas Hashem, a 50-year-old who recently fled Ramadi.

Others, such as prominent lawmaker Alia Nusseif, made equally striking comments, accusing the US of using ISIS as a proxy army to split up the country.

“We don’t have any trust in Americans anymore,” Nusseif said. “We now think ISIS is being used as a tool by America to divide and weaken Iraq.”

The Delphi Declaration – Paul Craig Roberts

The Delphi Declaration asks the European peoples, especially the Germans, to do the right thing and object to the plunder of Greece by the One Percent.

This appeal to goodwill is likely to fall on deaf ears even though the pillage of Greece will create a precedent that can then be applied to Italy, Spain, France, and even Germany.

European governments, European institutions and the IMF, acting in close alliance, if not under direct control of big international banks and other financial institutions, are now exercising a maximum of pressure, including open threats, blackmailing and a slander and terror communication campaign against the recently elected Greek government and against the Greek people.

Greece – The Delphi Declaration

The world must realize that the so-called troika – IMF, European Central Bank and European Commission, is literally blackmailing Greece and subjecting her to outright economic torture.

During the weekend of 20 and 21 June 2015 a forum of international scholars, scientists, economists, sociologists, political analysts – met in Delphi Greece to discuss Greece and Europe.

The organizers were the so-called “Delphi Initiative”, sponsored by the Lyssarides Foundation in Cyprus, the Greek Institute for Research on Political Strategies, the Russian Institute for Globalization and Social Movements, and the Forum Mondial des Alternatives, France.

The world must realize that the so-called troika – IMF, European Central Bank and European Commission, is literally blackmailing Greece and subjecting her to outright economic torture.

Latin American Revolutions Under Attack

The World is Turning, Don't Let it Turn Away

Do not take the Latin American revolutions for granted.

They inspired the entire Planet. They brought hope to every corner of our scarred Earth. But now they are themselves in need of our support.

All of revolutionary Latin America is “screaming”.

As I described in two of my recent books, “Exposing Lies Of The Empire” and “Fighting Against Western Imperialism”, the Empire is using similar destabilization strategy against all countries that are resisting its deadly embrace.

Lower US Flag on 4th of July

We need to do a lot more searching, a lot deeper digging, if we're going to root out and destroy the virus that has been killing us for centuries!

For over half a century, I’ve written articles against racism and war. I was shocked and I grieved to see what happened at the Charleston Emanuel Church. Quickly, the call went out: We need to have a “conversation” about race in America! And, almost as quickly: Take down the Confederate flag! But, let’s be very clear: the Confederate flag is NOT a central issue here.

On the 4th of July, when Americans raise their flags as a proud symbol of their “freedom,” will anyone dare to lower their flags to half-mast to commemorate the 60,000 Americans who died in a now-acknowledged “unnecessary” war in Vietnam– let alone the millions of Asians?

Would it be disrespectful even to suggest such a gesture?

In Baghdad, Organized Destruction

Two days ago an email came from an Iraqi doctor in Baghdad in response to a brief greeting I sent for the month of Ramadan.

“Thanks so much for remembering us…In fact we are the same if not worse. Our hearts are broken at the organized ruining of our country. We are targeted by those criminals and gangs coming from everywhere, even from the west who are all witnessing this drama and, if not supporting it, are keeping silent. We wonder what sin we committed to face this gloomy black fate. In fact, what is going on is beyond words. “

Greece – the Way Out

The Greek people are being penalized for having had the audacity to elect a socialist government – How dare they! – That’s the verdict.

What the troika is doing to Greece these days is the pinnacle of financial terrorism. It is economic waterboarding. It is blackmailing of the first degree. These people are neoliberal fascists, putting the Greek government before a dilemma – ‘either you present us with an acceptable list of austerities, or we will prepare one for you’ – literally. An austerity plan you better accept, lest you may default and being expulsed from the European monetary union and maybe even the EU. That is their threat. That is what Brussels does to a brother; to one of theirs. There is not a shred of solidarity left in this miss-called ‘Union’. This ‘Union’ doesn’t deserve existing.

To Many Iraqis, U.S. Isn’t Really Seeking to Defeat Islamic State

In a tent city under a highway overpass in Baghdad, refugees from Iraq’s Sunni province of Anbar were unanimous about whom to blame for their misery.

“I hold Americans responsible for destroying Anbar,” said former policeman Wassem Khaled, whose home was taken over by Islamic State, or ISIS, after the Iraqi army fled from Anbar’s provincial capital of Ramadi last month.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US created ISIS, and is using ISIS in Iraq to justify breaking that nation up into three pieces smaller and easier for the US and Israel to bully!

Over-the-Top: Sorry, but the Latest ISIS Horror Video Looks Like a BS Hollywood Reality Show

Yes, the war on terror was designed as a nebulous pile of dung that was never meant to ever end. You can’t win a war against an ideal.

And apparently now this war is being fought with show business… because that’s what war is.

Someone somewhere who cannot distinguish between what they see on television and what happens in real life is going to say the following is a heartless, disgusting article to write.

However, we live in a heartless, disgusting world where modern propaganda, false flags, and psyops have gotten to the point that they look like they are being directed by Michael Bay.

As if the videos of some of the so-called ISIS beheadings weren’t questionable enough. As if the news media reporting that ISIS is luring Western women into their dark nightmare world with Nutella and kittens wasn’t ridiculous enough.

Now we are given this.

Just read this Daily Mail headline. Read it twice before continuing and just let it sink in.

Five Things That Won’t Work in Iraq: When at First You Don’t Succeed, Fail, Fail Again

In one form or another, the US has been at war with Iraq since 1990, including a sort-of invasion in 1991 and a full-scale one in 2003. During that quarter-century, Washington imposed several changes of government, spent trillions of dollars, and was involved in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. None of those efforts were a success by any conceivable definition of the term Washington has been capable of offering.

ISIS Has Started to Mint Its Own Gold Currency

Ever since its arrival in the Middle East, ISIS has been busy turning their organization into a functional government that is not unlike the institutions they’re fighting. They’ve created bureaucracies, school curricula, environmental controls, ID cards, and have provided their own twisted brand of law and order. They’ve even managed to achieve some of the more traditional staples of a government, such as taxing, looting, conquering, and wholesale murder.

"There is no cooperation and coordination with the Americans to win back the regions controlled by the ISIL," Spokesman of Iraqi Volunteer Forces Karim al-Nouri said in reaction to news reports on Hashd al-Shaabi's cooperation with US forces.

A Bloomberg View column, citing two unidentified American administration officials, claimed Hashd al-Shaabi forces groups are sharing use of a military base with US troops.

Earlier today, Pentagon Spokesman Colonel Steve Warren also rejected that the US army is sharing its new military base in Iraq's Anbar province with volunteer forces.

One of key Islamic State figures killed in Iraq - media

Hamad Zaalyan al-Afri, responsible for IS finances, was killed in a roadside bomb attack while travelling in his car in the southern part of Mosul. Three militants accompanying him were also killed. They were responsible for water supply, healthcare and municipal sphere in the city. It is unknown who set the bomb.
The city of Mosul was seized by Islamists on June 10 last year. According to Iraqi media, one of the major problems when freeing the city will be bombs and mines set by militants on its territory.

NATO Poised to Announce Return to Iraq for ‘Training Mission’

Hope springs eternal for NATO officials confident of their ability to create strong militaries in the Western style across the world with training missions, and this week’s NATO summit is expected to unveil their next training target as Iraq.

NATO has plenty of experience training Iraq’s military to a point they are contented with, having left in 2011 after years of training top Iraqi officers, only to watch that Iraqi military collapse in the face of ISIS opposition, with the very same top officers accused of abandoning their posts more or less immediately.

Concerns as Pentagon Chief Broaches Possibility of ‘Three Iraqs, not One’

The Abadi government in Iraq already has enough reasons to be pessimistic about their chances of beating ISIS and reunification of the country afterwards, since they lose seemingly every major battle against ISIS. Analysts are increasingly concerned, however, that pessimistic comments out of the US are going to really weigh on them.

Testifying to the House Armed Services Committee last week, Defense Secretary Ash Carter offered a pretty negative assessment on the Iraqi military. But the real eye-opener for some was the revelation within his comments that the Pentagon is already opening planning for the contingency that Iraq will never be reunified at all.

Though the US is still operating under the assumption that ISIS, as such, will eventually be defeated, they see it entirely possible that the post-ISIS Iraq will mean the Shi’ite-dominated existing government will lose the Sunni Arab west as well as the Kurdish north to two separate independence pushes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How convenient: this is precisely the outcome for which Israel had been advocating, even before the advent of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Trapping Russia to Prove a Negative

The prove-a-negative trap is the Big Lie technique of Nazi propagandist Josef Goebbels: there is no substance to the allegations and there is no obligation to present evidence to verify, thanks to the dutiful and unquestioning nature of Western corporate “journalism”.

The United States and its Western allies are trying to ensnare Russia in an audacious disinformation trap over the Ukraine conflict. That trap involves imposing an insoluble conundrum on Vladimir Putin’s government, which we might call “prove a negative”. It is a familiar conceptual device that Washington has used elsewhere, against Iraq and Iran for example, in order to pursue what are otherwise illegitimate geopolitical aims.Russia is being held up as the guilty party that is undermining the shaky Minsk ceasefire; and Western economic sanctions are being extended “until Russia implements the ceasefire”.

The Myth of Global ‘Free’ Trade

The key to TTIP is the so-called Investor-State Dispute Settlement mechanism that essentially gives corporations free reign to sue governments using a “failure to implement” provision, if state policies or legislation interfere with profits. But is this all about trade?

There was a direct, crucial “secret” agenda linking the G7 meeting in Germany and the Bilderberg meeting in Austria last week; the advancement of the virtually secret negotiations towards the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), the massive free trade agreement between the US and the EU.

Even though the corporate powers behind TTIP are itching for a deal to be reached before the end of 2015, serious (negotiation) trouble remains.

Trump for President? — Paul Craig Roberts

This is not my endorsement of Trump for President. It is merely my speculations on how we might think of how large egos might be brought into our service.

Celente put it well. If you look at the sorry collection that aspires to be the CEO of what continues to be described as the “exceptional, indispensable, most important country with the largest economy and military, the world’s only Superpower, the Uni-power,” you see a collection of nobodies. America is like the last days of Rome when contenting factions fought to put their puppet on the throne.

In actual fact, Trump might be our best candidate to date. By all accounts, he is very rich. Thus, he doesn’t need the office in order to become rich by selling out America to interest groups.

Iraq war costs U.S. more than $2 trillion: study

The U.S. war in Iraq has cost $1.7 trillion with an additional $490 billion in benefits owed to war veterans, expenses that could grow to more than $6 trillion over the next four decades counting interest, a study released on Thursday said. The war has killed at least 134,000 Iraqi civilians and may have contributed to the deaths of as many as four times that number, according to the Costs of War Project by the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. When security forces, insurgents, journalists and humanitarian workers were included, the war's death toll rose to an estimated 176,000 to 189,000, the study said.
Note: Remember when Rumsfeld said this would be quick and cost 50 billion. Anyone have that clip?

In the USA – “I Cannot Write!”

The West is finished, its culture dead. What is left is unattractive, even horrifying. There is no heart, no compassion, and no creativity.

It was the first time in many years that I had missed my column, my essays, for several weeks.

I was shocked by the state in which I found the United States.

I couldn’t breath. I lost the ability to write. I felt anger building inside me. The anger was suffocating, strangling me. It was unhealthy anger, mixed with frustration! It was not that sacred anger one feels when going to a battle against great evil. It was also somehow petty, indescribable, and pathetic. It was breaking me, humiliating me.

I hated the fights I had to fight here.

I tried to see the reality that was surrounding me with different eyes but wherever I looked I saw only a dysfunctional, sad, collapsing country and culture.

This visit broke me. It exhausted me. It thoroughly depressed me.

State Dept: Iran ‘Supports Terror’ for Backing anti-ISIS Militias

The State Department is struggling to make up its minds on the Iraqi Shi’ite militias in the ISIS war, declaring Iran to be financing “terror-related activities” for supporting those militias, which are the same militias fighting on the same side as the US in Iraq.

including Iran in the annual terror report at all is a risky decision, as Congressional hawks are likely to try to use this to block efforts to ease sanctions as part of the final nuclear deal, though they tried to thread the needle by insisting that Iran isn’t plotting against the US, and that the Shi’ite militias in Iraq aren’t either.

America is too weak to even contemplate such wars. Our professional soldiers will mutiny rather than follow orders to lead a tank assault against the Russians.

That leaves the Mideast where Israel controls the forces of Al Qaeda, ISIS, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Kurds and the US.

China Rising — Pepe Escobar

Americans have to eventually share their preeminent position with China.”

As intellectual acumen and cross-cultural expertise go, it would be hopeless to expect self-described “Don’t Do Stupid Stuff” Obama administration foreign policy advisers — as well as Pentagon functionaries/hacks — to understand the complexities of China.

For instance, they would be incapable of evaluating all the myriad ramifications included in Professor Alfred McCoy’s masterful deconstruction of US-China geopolitics.

“The US cannot stop China’s rise. It just has to live with a bigger China, which will be completely novel for the US, as no country has ever been big enough to challenge its position. China will be able to do so in 20 to 30 years.” (Lee said that at the Future China Global Forum in Singapore, in 2011. Under Xi, China is already challenging the U.S.’s position.)

Syriza: Plunder, Pillage and Prostration

How the ‘Hard Left’ embraces the policies of the Hard Right

Greece has been in the headlines of the world’s financial press for the past five months, as a newly elected leftist party, ‘Syriza’, which ostensibly opposes so-called ‘austerity measures’, faces off against the “Troika” (International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and European Central Bank).

Early on, the Syriza leadership, headed by Alexis Tsipras, adopted several strategic positions with fatal consequences – in terms of implementing their electoral promises to raise living standards, end vassalage to the ‘Troika’ and pursue an independent foreign policy.

We will proceed by outlining the initial systemic failures of Syriza and the subsequent concessions further eroding Greek living standards and deepening Greece’s role as an active collaborator of US and Israeli imperialism.

American dreaming, from G1 to Bilderberg

G1 plus junior partners? Bilderberg? Get a job; you’re not the only show in town, any town.

What’s the connection between the G7 summit in Germany, President Putin’s visit to Italy, the Bilderberg club meeting in Austria, and the TTIP – the US-EU free trade deal – negotiations in Washington?

We start at the G7 in the Bavarian Alps – rather G1 with an added bunch of “junior partners” – as US President Barack Obama gloated about his neo-con induced feat; regiment the EU to soon extend sanctions on Russia even as the austerity-ravaged EU is arguably hurting even more than Russia.

The “civilized” G1 + junior partners could not possibly argue whether they would collectively risk a nuclear war on European soil over a Kiev-installed ‘Banderastan’, sorry, “Russian aggression.”

Former US Attorney General Files Brief in Lawsuit Challenging Legality of Iraq War

Sundus Saleh, an Iraqi single mother, is suing members of the George W. Bush administration for their role in the war in Iraq. Saleh has assembled an international team of lawyers, who are requesting the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit hear her claim that the US-led Iraq war was illegal under laws formed from the Nuremberg trials in the wake of World War II.

"The invasion resulted in the total destruction of a beautiful, peaceful country," Saleh told Truthout. "The invasion didn't destroy only the country's infrastructure, buildings and heritage; it destroyed millions of families and their dreams."

Through her pro bono counsel, Comar Law in San Francisco, Saleh filed papers on May 27 urging the Ninth Circuit to review facts and statements made by high-ranking Bush administration officials - including former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Richard Cheney and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld - during the lead-up to the Iraq war.

Dude, where's my Humvee? Islamic State capturing Iraqi equipment at alarming rate

Iraqi security forces lost 2,300 Humvee armored vehicles when Islamic State overran the northern city of Mosul in June 2014, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Sunday in an interview with Iraqiya state television. Coupled with previous losses of American weapons, the conclusion is simple: The United States is effectively supplying Islamic State with tools of war the militant group cannot otherwise hope to acquire from its patrons.

In addition to the Humvees, Iraqi forces previously abandoned significant types and numbers of heavy weapons to Islamic State. For example, losses to Islamic State include at least 40 M1A1 main battle tanks, as well as small arms and ammunition, including 74,000 machine guns, and as many as 52 M198 howitzer mobile gun systems.

"We lost a lot of weapons," Abadi admitted.

Americans are already dispossessed of their livelihoods and careers and their pensions are next. Wherever we look, the fate of populations under Western influence are the same. The Ukrainians are exploited, the Greeks, the British, the Americans.

Apologists for exploitation claim that the rich are richer because they are smarter. But the stupidity of the rich is everywhere visible. The greedy fools have destroyed their domestic US market. Really, how stupid can you be? How do Americans buy when they are forced by offshoring out of well paid manufacturing and software engineering jobs into being waitresses, bartenders, retail clerks and part-time Walmart workers in order that corporate bottom lines improve? Journalists also asked tough questions to officials implicated in corruption even if those queries were inconvenient to the desired propaganda themes. But those days are long gone, as the Washington Post demonstrated again this week.

Obama’s New Plan to Save Iraq: Tear It Apart

he White House is moving to arm Iraq’s tribal and religious militias. But these forces hate the Baghdad government almost as much as they hate ISIS.
President Obama’s decision to send an additional 450 troops to Iraq is the latest example of a strategy mired in double paradox. The U.S. wants to save a unified Iraq—by strengthening the ethnic and religious militias that could tear the country apart. And to pull it off, Washington is counting on the cooperation of groups divided by a chasm of suspicion.

U.S. officials said American troops have so far trained 9,000 Iraqi soldiers and are training 3,100 others. U.S. officials could not say how many Sunnis they hope will emerge through the latest U.S. troop ramp-up, only that it will likely start in the next two months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, let me get this straight; we have trained "9,000 Iraqi soldiers...", and yet that was not enough to prevent the fall of Mosul last year?!?

But perhaps causing Iraq to balkanize, to make the smaller components easier to control, was the game plan by the US government all along.

Obama Does Have a Strategy in Iraq: Escalation

Almost nine months after President Obama admitted that “we don’t have a strategy yet” to challenge the Islamic State – and just days after he said he still has “no complete Iraq strategy” – the non-strategy suddenly has a name: escalation.

According to reports in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, the Obama administration is poised to send 400 to 500 additional troops to Iraq immediately, and to build a new U.S. military base in restive Anbar province to house them – and potentially many more.

Source: ISIS blowing up officials' homes in Ramadi

The Islamic State [ISIS] is enacting revenge on Iraqi authorities, soldiers, and other officials who are suspected of fighting the extremists by blowing up their homes in Ramadi, a provincial official told Rudaw.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In WW2, as France kicked out the Nazis, those French officials who had collaborated with the Vichy Government were targeted for revenge, including the destruction of their homes. Women who had "consorted" with the Nazis were publicly shamed by having their heads shaved, but that one backfired as men quickly learned that the short-haired girls were a likely "great date." Eventually all French girls wore their hair short so as not to stay home alone on the weekends.

Adelson’s Anti-BDS Event Links Money To Action

With U.S. billionaires both funding and setting up its top down strategy with Israeli-inspired organizations on American campuses, Israel’s successful invasion of U.S. institutions takes another major step toward “occupying” American institutions.

Four days after the Salon posting appeared, The New York Times buried two paragraphs about the Vegas event inside a longer story which featured the success Israel was enjoying in gaining anti-BDS support in state legislatures in South Carolina and Illinois.

This campaign against American supporters of Palestinian freedom, was prompted by the alarmed awareness among Israeli leaders, and their U.S. allies, that the BDS movement is rapidly gaining ground.

Iraq is Obama’s quagmire now: His unauthorized war hasn’t worked — but he’s escalating it anyway

The Obama administration’s war on the Islamic State is quickly approaching its first birthday, and things don’t seem to be going especially well. The strategy President Obama laid out back in September had two key components for taking on ISIS militarily: The U.S. would provide air power and conduct “a systematic campaign of airstrikes,” and the Iraqi military (with “training” and “support” from U.S. military personnel) would “go on offense” against the terrorist state’s forces.

In Washington, a town in which most people, both government and non-government

Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter recently stepped in it by stating what should have been obvious to the world: he blamed Iraqi forces for the loss to ISIS of Ramadi, an important Iraqi provincial capital, telling CNN that, “The Iraqi forces just showed no will to fight. They vastly outnumbered the opposing force and yet they withdrew from the site.”

Never Mind FIFA, How about a Crackdown on the Banksters?

The belated focus of American and British authorities on the alleged wrongdoings at FIFA can be readily seen as both ludicrous and laughable when we compare that with the absolute dearth of interest by these same authorities in applying law enforcement where it ought to be applied – on the Wall Street and City of London banksters.

Both the timing of the US-launched corruption probe – in the week of FIFA’s annual conference and leadership election – plus the way that senior American and British officials, not to mention the publicity of Western news media, have weighed-in to rebuke FIFA suggests that it is all part of a coordinated political campaign authored at the highest level of government. That, in turn, suggests that there is an ulterior political agenda behind the supposed criminal crackdown on FIFA, and that the ulterior agenda is the Western objective to undermine Russia.

The success that the Israel Lobby has enjoyed in imposing this twisted logic on Congress, the White House, the media, the universities and the insouciant American public is astonishing. As a consequence, Americans are no longer answerable to Christian morality but to the evil that the Israel Lobby represents.

Russia’s World Cup plans appear to be now similarly targeted for an ulterior political agenda. White House: US Not Responsible for Iraqi Security

In an effort that simultaneously seeks to eschew responsibility for the situation on the ground and to define certain limits on the scope of the US war, the White House today declared itself to be unwilling to be “responsible” for the security situation in Iraq.

Though press secretary Josh Earnest emphasized the growing problem of foreign fighters flowing into Iraq, he insisted the war itself, at least on the ground, was up to the Iraqi government to fight and win.

This comes irrespective of Pentagon efforts to dictate exactly where and when Iraqi forces launch offensives, and to try to push them into cooperative relationships with pro-US tribal factions.

Baghdad and Washington are pointing fingers, each accusing the other of being asleep on the job.

An objective look at US interests in the region paint an entirely different picture. The Americans seek to maintain absolute hegemony in the Mideast, even as they exit costly military occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Their primary interests are 1) access to low cost oil and gas, 2) propping up Israel, and more recently, 3) undermining Russian (and Chinese) influence in the region.

The ‘war’ word is being increasingly heard as Europe, Russia, China and the United States adopt provocative postures

IS the world going mad? Military posturing is quietly reaching new extremes in Europe, the Mediterranean and the South China Sea. And the provocative bluster has just reached new heights.

The source was anonymous. But the mouthpiece has a measure of credibility. High profile military analyst and former US Naval War College lecturer John Schindler tweeted last week: “Said a senior NATO (non-US) GOFO to me today: ‘We’ll probably be at war this summer. If we’re lucky it won’t be nuclear.’ Let that sink in.”

Declassified docs: Hillary aided rise of ISIS

More than 100 pages of previously classified Department of Defense and Department of State documents implicate the Obama administration in a cover-up to obscure the role Hillary Clinton and the State Department played in the rise of ISIS.

Biden proposes dividing Iraq into three pieces.

The senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee proposed Monday that Iraq be divided into three separate regions — Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni — with a central government in Baghdad.

In an op-ed essay in Monday’s edition of The New York Times, Sen. Joseph Biden. D-Del., wrote that the idea “is to maintain a united Iraq by decentralizing it, giving each ethno-religious group ... room to run its own affairs, while leaving the central government in charge of common interests.”

Is there a link between climate change and terrorism?

Barack Obama has spent considerable time in recent months publicly explaining his positions on both climate change and violent extremism.

But in a Coast Guard commencement address last week, the U.S. president deliberately combined the two, saying that climate change "constitutes a serious threat to global security."

Security analysts say the idea has been percolating in Western military circles for the past few years, but there is still skepticism about a direct link.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are two kinds of terror. Real terror is created by mucking about with other peoples' governments. fake terror is used to scare a population into agreeing to wars of conquest. Neither has any link to global warming.

US Shoots Itself in the Foot Escalating Tensions With Russia, China, Iran

The Obama administration has repeatedly sent wrong signals to Russia, China and Iran, slamming the countries for non-existent expansionism and so far showing the disheartening dysfunction in America’s foreign policy, former CIA Case Officer and Army Intelligence Officer Philip Giraldi underscored, according to Sputnik.

US President is shooting himself in the foot, but he should wake up and realize what is going on "before Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush arrives on the scene to make everything worse"the former CIA officer Philip Giraldi concluded.

Far from Facing the Truth, the US Is Telling New Lies about Iraq

A couple of weeks ago, the Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush was asked in an interview with Fox News whether, knowing what he knows now, he would have invaded Iraq. It’s the kind of predictable question for which most people assumed he would have a coherent answer. They were wrong. Jeb blew it. “I would have [authorised the invasion],” he said. “And so would have Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody. And so would almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got.”

US and Allies have Created a Transnational “Islamist” Terrorist Network, Head of Russia’s Military Intelligence (GRU)

Posted below is the transcript of the speech of Colonel-General Igor Sergun, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.

This speech was delivered at the Moscow Security Conference in May 2015.

As a general rule, the GRU never makes a public statement, nor does the person heading it. It is thus interesting that on one of the very few occasions where General Sergun agreed to speak in public, he chose to focus on the risks of the so-called “Islamic” extremism and that in a relatively short presentation, he made four references to the fact that these “Islamic” terrorists are basically a creature of the West.

Declassified Document Proves US Created ISIS

P.S. - Is anyone really that shocked by this??

Ever since ISIS began its bloody rampage across the Middle East, many of us have been suspicious of their origins. The West seemed perfectly willing to support the rebellion against Russian backed Assad, but as soon as those supposedly “moderate” rebels formed ISIS, they turned against them (according to the media at least). But according to a recently declassified document, the US government knew more than they were letting on (gasp) in regards to the formation of ISIS.

A Poem On War

Beyond the count of years I walked the world,

and my children built their shrines to me.

Decades and centuries and millennia pass,

and still the shrines are built.

Temples insubstantial to men,

clear to my eyes.

No foundations or walls or roofs,

but shrines nonetheless.

Holy ground, consecrated

Today, every day, somewhere in the world,

the earth is prepared for my coming.

My hallowed grounds are everywhere.

In valleys and on mountains,

on broad plains and deep in hidden passes,

in deserts, on city streets.

Nameless, unremembered places.

Even nominally friendly sites like NSNBC are misreporting events in this historically important town in the far east of Homs Governorate. U.S. Intelligence Predicted: U.S. Support For Rebels in Syria Would Lead To Fall of Ramadi

Thanks to Brad Hoff for pointing in the comments here to the Defense Intelligence Agency reports from August and October 2012 about the war on Syria. The DIA was the one U.S. intelligence agency that got the Iraq WMD case right but its appraisals, for example that the famous "aluminum tubes" were ordered by Iraq to build mortar tubes, were suppressed by the Bush administration. The now published heavily redacted DIA reports were released after Freedom Of Information Act litigation by the conservative Judicial Watch.

What the Fall of Ramadi Means

The Middle East is becoming a basket of failed states. And as we look around that region, every country is looking out for No. 1.

The Turks looked the other way as volunteers entered Syria to join ISIS. The Turks then let Kurds cross into Syria to keep ISIS out of Kobane. Now, according to Assad, the Turks are aiding al-Qaida (the Nusra Front) in establishing its own caliphate in Idlib. The Saudis and Gulf Arabs also, says Assad, aided the Nusra Front in taking Idlib.

And what of us?

Considering the millions of dead, wounded, uprooted, homeless, sick and suffering, American-born and native-born, have our wars and bombings in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen been, on balance, more a blessing than a curse to the people we went to help?

Before we plunge back into these Middle East wars from which, at long last, we have begun to extricate ourselves, we ought to recall the words of that anonymous U.S. officer in Vietnam:

Webmaster's Commentary:

I agree with a lot Pat Buchanan says, but he leaves out a couple of critical factors here.

Number one, the US government did not invade and occupy Iraq, and the other countries he names, in order to 'help them'; we invaded Iraq for the oil, and to make absolutely certain that the oil was sold only in US dollars.

The US government invaded Libya to create regime change, and destroy the gold dinar, which Qaddafi was about to inaugurate.

The US government invaded Afghanistan for its curse of geographic significance, for the pipelines, and to control opium production.

The US government is backing Saudi intervention in Yemen, because by supporting Al Hadi, and with the Yemenite people having absolutely no say in their government's affairs, we created a failed state.

The US government is attempting to create regime change in Syria to further
isolate the current Iranian regime.

And one final thing about Iraq: anyone remember Muktada Al Sadr, the Iranian cleric, who stated that if US troops stayed one date beyond the SOFA agreement, that they would be considered fair game for his Mahdi army?!?

As reported in the longwarjournal.org, 3 May, 2015:

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr threatened to attack US personnel inside Iraq and beyond if the US House of Representatives passed a bill that would have recognized Kurdistan and Sunnis in western Iraq as their own independent countries. Sadr, whose Iranian-backed militia battled US and Coalition troops in Baghdad and central and southern Iraq during the occupation of Iraq, released a statement on his website on April 29 calling for attacks on US interests if Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act for 2016. The statement was translated on the Facebook page Shiʿa Jihadica: Clericalism, Militias, and Messianism.

I would strongly suggest that going back into any of these countries is one heck of a double-plus ungood thing for the US government to do.

The American people are war-weary, and war-skeptical at this point, and most generally, don't believe ANYTHING coming out of DC these days because of all the lies.

Russia, Iraq to conduct regular military cooperation talks at expert level — Kremlin

Russia and Iraq will maintain regular expert-level dialogue on military-technical cooperation, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday. He said this issue was discussed at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday.
"They held a discussion on the subject of military-technical cooperation. The dialogue will continue at a regular expert level," said the Kremlin official.
According to him, the meeting also focused on the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. "There is the potential for cooperation in this sphere," Peskov said.
The presidential press secretary generally assessed the conversation as substantive. "The sides touched upon issues of economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, the activity there [in Iraq] of Russian companies, which, despite all the difficulties, are ready to expand their presence [in Iraq]," the Kremlin spokesman said.

OBAMA’S STRATEGIC SHIFT

President Obama has belatedly detected the looming catastrophe in Syria and Iraq as Sunni terrorists gain ground. He also grasps the need for Russian and Iranian help. But his administration remains infested with neocons and liberal war hawks who could sabotage the needed deals, reports Robert Parry.

t’s finally dawning on President Barack Obama the grave dangers that have been created for the American Republic by decades of neoconservative dominance of U.S. foreign policy, but his moves in response to this dire threat remain hesitant and indecisive.

The only game-saving play open to Obama now – in response to recent Saudi-backed escalation of Sunni extremism in Syria and Iraq as well the new right-wing racist government in Israel – may be to forge an alliance with Iran and Russia as a counterforce in the Middle East that could save Syria’s relatively secular regime and reverse gains by the Islamic State inside Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to believe that the above is possible. But unfortunately, this President is way too hubristic and narcissistic to make the necessary changes to bring about a possible lasting peace.

I frankly think Obama is trying, by deploying ISIS, to get Americans to go along with a 3rd invasion of Iraq; an overthrow of Al-Assad in Damascus; and a re-invasion of Libya.

A short memo, based on a statement of the character Tony Soprano, to President Obama: FURGETTABOUTIT!!! There will be no support for US troops on the ground, and the equipment you are sending to Iraq is absolutely no good without skilled operators to make them do what they are supposed to do.

Hope – versus Neoliberalism – an Ode to Solidarity

The new apparent Hope – is it what my friend Finian Cunningham says – the first ‘eye blinking’ by Washington facing Russia?

We are so thirsty for hope, hope for another, more just, more equitable world, we see hope in the first ‘blinking of an eye’. Hope is good. Hope is the basis for action. And action must be the consequence of hope – hope that not all is lost. Action to break that impasse of neoliberal all-engulfing greed must be simple. We have become strangers to ourselves. We must return to our roots, recognizing where and why we failed to diagnose the beast. Our awakened, re-kindled sense of consciousness may lead us to what we have lost – our inherent sense of solidarity.

Let’s hope together for that to happen – to happen soon, for the suffering is too great to endure much longer. We, the 99.99 % have it in our power to stop this misery and save our planet.

William Kristol: We were right to fight in Iraq

We were right to invade Iraq in 2003 to remove Saddam Hussein, and to complete the job we should have finished in 1991.

Even with the absence of caches of weapons of mass destruction, and the mistakes we made in failing to send enough troops at first and to provide security from the beginning for the Iraqi people, we were right to persevere through several difficult years. We were able to bring the war to a reasonably successful conclusion in 2008.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So according to Kristol, the US killed a lot of people, bombed Iraq into rubble, utterly failed to accomplish the stated goals for the war because the nuclear weapons did not actually exist, leaving Iraq in utter chaos, but it was still a success?

The US-Islamic State Dance: One Step Forward and Two Steps Back – By Design

That said, there exists too much overwhelming evidence to prove that the Islamic State is the US Empire’s latest creation of a designated enemy to propagate unending global war and destruction in all resource rich regions on earth. Reagan and Bush senior used Osama’s al Qaeda machine beginning in the early 1980’s as Washington’s proxy war mercenaries on the ground against the Soviet Empire that led eventually to its demise within the decade. Then in the 90’s al Qaeda was used to help “balkanize” Yugoslavia into 13 obliterated, ineffectual little pieces carved up and served as Empire bases against resurrected cold war enemy Russia as well as the Middle East. Then came the pivotal role of Osama’s 19 box-cutters - 15 of whom were Saudi Arabian - used as inside job 9/11 stooges, close to half of whom have since surfaced alive and well on the planet. Only the 3000 Americans murdered and sacrificed that fateful day by the neocons Bush and Cheney et al with Israeli-Saudi help remain dead. The extensively long history of the United States government covertly utilizing al Qaeda/ISIS/Islamic State as America’s oft-repeated actual ally in its fabricated bogus “war on terror” is nothing but a diabolically driven hoax on this planet. The Islamic State is the fake US enemy deployed by the DC crime cabal as its Empire paid-for-hire tool.

FLASHBACK - The Lie Factory

Kwiatkowski, 43, a now-retired Air Force officer who served in the Pentagon's Near East and South Asia (NESA) unit in the year before the invasion of Iraq, observed how the Pentagon's Iraq war-planning unit manufactured scare stories about Iraq's weapons and ties to terrorists. "It wasn't intelligence‚ -- it was propaganda," she says. "They'd take a little bit of intelligence, cherry-pick it, make it sound much more exciting, usually by taking it out of context, often by juxtaposition of two pieces of information that don't belong together." It was by turning such bogus intelligence into talking points for U.S. officials‚ -- including ominous lines in speeches by President Bush and Vice President Cheney, along with Secretary of State Colin Powell's testimony at the U.N. Security Council last February‚ -- that the administration pushed American public opinion into supporting an unnecessary war.

Pretty much everybody in American politics now agrees that the Iraq War was not a great idea. The source of disagreement has moved, instead, to a different question: Was it a failure, or a crime? FLASHBACK - THE LIE OF THE (LAST) CENTURY

There is nothing new in a government lying to their people to start a war. Indeed because most people prefer living in peace to bloody and horrific death in war, any government that desires to initiate a war usually lies to their people to create the illusion that support for the war is the only possible choice they can make.

With all of America now aware that the US Government lied to them about the use of torture it is time to remind Americans of the other lies told by the US Government, including the lies used to trick us into war with Iraq. Today the politicians and media are trying to re-wriote the history of the 2003 Iraq invasion, claiming it was all "bad intelligence" and an innocent mistake. BULL BISCUITS!

US Reaffirms Support for Iraqi Offensive to Retake Ramadi

U.S. President Barack Obama reaffirmed his government's support for Iraq's prime minister and the decision to plan an operation to retake control of Ramadi, as Iraqi forces and Shi'ite militias gathered outside the western city.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With the majority of US politicians now admitting that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was a mistake and that Saddam did not have nuclear weapons, why are we compounding the mistake even further by continuing to pour more weapons into that beleaguered nation, leading to more bloodshed? Two wrongs do not make a right. The current US puppet regime should not be there in Baghdad at all. Iraqi Troops Abandon US-Made Tanks, Artillery to ISIS in Ramadi Loss

When ISIS took the Iraqi city of Mosul last year, they seized an army’s worth of US-made weaponry and vehicles. The US air war against ISIS over the last nine months has centered in great measure on destroying that gear, while ferrying new gear to the Iraqi military.

Then Ramadi fell over the weekend, and it’s Mosul all over again. Despite the US downplaying the significance of the loss, the Pentagon is confirming that half a dozen tanks and significant artillery and armored vehicles, along with other gear, were abandoned by Iraqi troops fleeing the Anbar capital.

ABOUT THOSE U.S. TROOPS WHO DIED IN RAMADI

I can’t help but wonder how the family of Michael A. Monsoor is reacting to ISIS’s recent conquest of Ramadi in Iraq. Monsoor was awarded the Medal of Honor for actions taken during the 2006 Battle of Ramadi, when U.S. forces fought insurgents for control of the city. The medal was awarded posthumously.

Monsoor wasn’t the only U.S. soldier who died in Ramadi. According to the Wikipedia page “Battle of Ramadi (2006),” more than 80 U.S. soldiers were killed and more than 200 were injured.

My hunch is that at least some of the family members of all those dead Americans are thinking to themselves, “Okay, ISIS now controls Ramadi. But at least my loved one died so that Americans can be free.”

Of course, that’s easier than thinking that they died for nothing. But the fact is that they did die for nothing. Just look at Ramadi today for proof. Indeed, just look at Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wars fought overseas are NOT fought "to keep Americans free"; they are fought for control of resources major American corporations wish to claim, and to which they have no moral right whatsoever.
As the lyrics from a new song I have just shipped off to my soloist, state:

"War's never fought for the reasons you're given,
Those in power keep feeding you lies
And the reasons you're made to keep fighting and killing
should come as no big surprise
War's not about freedom, or courage or honor,
or preserving the American way;
It's all about money, control greed and power,
And making those who resist go away....
And making those who resist go away..."

The US government, with its preemptive war against Iraq, caused the situation which gave rise to Isis (IF, in fact, Isis is not a US tool, just as was Al Quaeda, to scare the stuffing out of Americans, and scare them out of thinking.) The corporate presstitutes are bemoaning Iraq's coming complete demise, if the US doesn't go in a 3rd time, militarily.

Folks, just say no, peacefully, to this government on a third invasion of Iraq; they cannot get anything straight, and will most likely botch things up more than they already are botched in this country. It is your children who will fight, get maimed for life, or die, in the name of corporate profits.

And no kid should get maimed or die for that; EVER!!

David Brooks’ sickening Iraq apologia: How the New York Times hack just rewrote history

New York Times columnist David Brooks was once an enthusiastic backer of George W. Bush’s disastrous invasion of Iraq. He’d write columns for the Weekly Standard – the official journal of bankrupt neoconservative thought – glorifying Bush for his steely-eyed determination and tartly mocking the pansy liberals and other anti-war types who opposed Bush’s righteous exercise in nation-building and freedom-spreading. “History will allow clear judgments about which leaders and which institutions were up to the challenge posed by Saddam,” Brooks prophesied in the March 2003 column, “and which were not.”

The GOP Still Doesn’t Get It on Iraq

During a friendly interview on Fox News, a Republican presidential hopeful from Florida was asked a simple question: Was it a mistake to go to war in Iraq?

Lindsey Graham: Iraq Was Not A Mistake; Obama, Not Bush, To Blame For Current Mess In Iraq and Syria

In an interview on CNN Monday afternoon, soon-to-be presidential candidate Senator Lindsey Graham told Wolf Blitzer he believed the Iraq War was not a mistake. Graham also said President Obama is to blame for the current mess in Iraq and Syria, not former President George W. Bush.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We The People were told that the invasion of Iraq was about 9-11, Iraq's support for Al Qaeda, and because Iraq had nuclear weapons.

But ...

We have President Bush on video tape admitting Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11. The claim that Iraq was supporting Al Qaeda came from a single discredited source, and as a secular government, Iraq was a target of Al Qaeda, which promoted theocratic rule. And finally, as we all know now, there were no nuclear weapons.

So by what delusional twisted sense of logic does Graham insist the Iraq war was not a mistake ... unless there was another reason for the war we are not being told, like Israel wanted it!

Hillary Clinton says her Iraq war vote was a 'mistake'

After days of Republican presidential candidates wrestling with questions on the Iraq war, Hillary Clinton weighed in Tuesday, telling reporters that her vote in favor of the war in 2002 was a “mistake.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

We don't need another President who makes such huge mistakes! 4400 dead Americans, half a million Iraqis, and countless more crippled for life.

The U.S. is at last facing the neocon captivity

The best thing about this political moment in the U.S. (if not for the good people of Iraq) is that the rise of ISIS and the Republican candidates’ embrace of the Iraq war is posing that deep and permanent question to the American public, Why did we invade Iraq?

Last night Chris Matthews asked that question again and David Corn said it was about the neoconservative desire to protect Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wars are never fought for just one reason. The US was opposed to Iraq's selling their oil for the Euro. But there is no question that Israel wanted to smash a regional power that threatened their dominance, and absent that support and the copious amounts of fake evidence about Saddam's nuclear weapons, the US might have sought a peaceful resolution to the economic problems.

Fall of Ramadi result of US occupation of Iraq: US scholar

The recent capture of the Iraqi city of Ramadi by the ISIL terrorist group is a consequence of the US war against Iraq and Washington’s “divide and rule” policy in the Arab country, an American political scholar says.

Losing the American Republic

Decades of letting neocons dictate a hawkish foreign policy have put the American Republic in profound danger, just as presidents from George Washington to Dwight Eisenhower predicted, warnings that Americans must finally take to heart...

We may lament our poverty of leadership, but there are ways to make it function. “Princes,” since long before Machiavelli have always used advisers; some even listened to them. Surely the capable people among us — like the “wise men” who whispered in the ears of those earlier leaders — can guide today’s leaders toward more viable policies and away from the chaos that engulfs us.

Experts: U.S. claims Ramadi a mere setback are ‘delusional’

The Obama administration Monday called the fall of the capital of Iraq’s Anbar province to the Islamic State a temporary setback that Iraqi forces would reverse with U.S. support. Experts dismissed that assessment as ludicrous.
