Obama says he has authority to take action against IS

U.S. President Barack Obama told top lawmakers Tuesday that he has the authority he needs to take action against Islamic State (IS) militants.

Obama, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Congressional leaders had a "productive" discussion and the leaders expressed their support for efforts to degrade and ultimately destroy IS, the White House said in a statement. The Islamic State, or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), is an al-Qaida splinter group also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The meeting came ahead of a speech on Wednesday evening in which Obama will lay out his plan to fight the extremist group.

Obama told the Leaders that he would welcome action by Congress that would "aid the overall effort" and demonstrate to the world that the United States is united in defeating the threat from IS, said the statement.

Recognizing 9/11 as an evil US CRIME: an analogy

*hyperlinks live at source*

9/11 began a fraud by the US upon the world through unlawful Wars of Aggression. The crime of 9/11 as to who did what, when, where, and related facts for analysis of why is a separate, challenging, and revealing topic I defer to others (such as here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, for your consideration).

I’ll stick to the easy explanation and documentation to prove US/UK/UN unlawful Wars of Aggression after 9/11.

In this effort, analogies can help put facts into perspective; the following population analogies are mathematically accurate representing the US (United City), Afghanistan (Afghan City), Iraq (Tigris City), and Iran (Tehrangeles) as having a population of 100,000. Documentation of the facts are after the analogy.

Guatemala rejects 'Monsanto Law' that would have given multinational seed companies control over agriculture

New legislation dubbed the "Monsanto Law" has been roundly rejected by activist groups and citizens in Guatemala, who argue that it has put the nation's food security and farm economy in jeopardy.

The law, formerly called "Law for the Protection of New Plant Varieties," was approved by the Guatemalan congress June 10, but has been widely panned since. Supporters say it is designed to protect the intellectual property of plant breeders who were deemed to have "created" or "discovered" new plant varieties, or who have genetically modified existing varieties.

The law effectively permits "breeders" -- which are typically biotech giants like Monsanto -- to obtain property rights over the use of plant varieties, in the form of both plants and seeds.

Zionists try to close down Palestine solidarity group at Philadelphia university

Members of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have sought legal advice after being falsely accused of anti-Semitism.

The accusations, made by a right-wing Zionist student and Israel-aligned media, have prompted an investigation by the university’s administration that could result in punishment of the Palestine solidarity group.

Temple University announced that it has sent the results of their investigation — which have not been made public — to the local district attorney’s office last week.

A Zionist student aggressively confronted and made racist comments to SJP members who were tabling during a large student organization information fair on 20 August. A student unaffiliated with SJP then slapped him in the face.

The Zionist student, who is also a fellow of CAMERA on Campus (a project of the right-wing, anti-Palestinian media watchdog group CAMERA) claimed that the students taunted him with an anti-Semitic slur.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Israeli student clearly provoked the confrontation, but the university wants to punish the Palestinians. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, but only to Israel.

Why aren’t we talking about racism and colonialism in the Salaita affair?

Systemic racism and colonialism extend far beyond (and in fact do not require) any conscious, willful intent to be racist or a colonizer (although they often do); rather, they simply need to produce outcomes that reinforce an entrenched historical pattern in which people of color and/or the colonized are disproportionately marginalized or harmed.

As such, these systemic injustices can be produced through any number of actions that are nominally colorblind and/or contain only unrecognized biases. Furthermore, because systemic racism is primarily a trait of a social system, rather than of individuals, it can actually be perpetuated by people of color, including Chancellor Wise and others on the University of Illinois’ board of trustees. In fact, systemic racism often benefits from and seeks out the inclusion of “multicultural diversity” because it helps to deflect attention and blame from ongoing racist outcomes.

NATO intends to prohibit Russia’s and China’s Development

The glitzy NATO summit in Newport has not publicly announced major decisions but it is likely that they were taken in secret. To prevent Russia and China - but also India - from continuing their development, NATO can count on Terrorism from the Islamic Emirate which it pretends to condemn and fight.

Moreover, contrary to its name, NATO is not an alliance of equals, but a subjugation of partner armies by the United States and the United Kingdom. Indeed, all member armies of this supposed "alliance" are under the command of a single US officer who is also commander of American forces in Europe-while the secret service of NATO, the "Gladio", under the joint authority of Washington and London, ensures that the anti-imperialists never come to power in the other Member States [2]. To do this, NATO has not skimped on political killings, nor even coups (in France [3], Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey).

Pro-Israel Activists Aim To Block Boycott Movement With Legislation

The most powerful pro-Israel lobbying organization, AIPAC, is working on drafting legislation that would aim to counter the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, two sources familiar with the situation told BuzzFeed News.

The legislation, which has not yet been introduced and has been in the process of being drafted for months, would aim to prevent U.S. companies from participating in the campaign without infringing on Americans’ First Amendment rights to political speech. It would also try to make the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership being negotiated between the U.S. and E.U. conditional on whether the E.U. takes action to stop BDS.

Media Attacks Directed against the Critics of Biotechnology and Genetically Modified Agriculture

Europeans seek GMO-related horror stories to justify our beliefs or “phobias,” according to Shahane. He argues that no other story does the job as well as the tale of poor Indians driven to suicide by the “evil Monsanto corporation.” Our irrational fear of GMOs is given added impetus by the scaremongering, anti-capitalist, anti-science stance of Vandana Shiva.
`
Europeans do not need to listen to Vandana Shiva to be aware that GMOs constitute a systemic health risk to entire populations. We do not need shock-horror tales of mass suicide to fuel genuine concerns.

Shahane’s article lacks credibility on many levels, one of which is foolishly resorting to the claim that Europeans exhibit a phobia over GMOs. He might like to acquaint himself with what Europe’s approach to GMOs is based on: the precautionary principle. This implies there is a good chance that GMOs may pose widespread harm to the entire population if released for public consumption [1]. There is enough evidence to suggest that this could be the case [2,3,4]. As the risk is systemic, adequate testing should thus be carried out before GMOs are sanctioned.

Want to Reform the NSA? Give Edward Snowden Immunity

In 1970, Christopher Pyle disclosed in public writing that the U.S. Army was running a domestic intelligence program aimed at anti-war and civil-rights activists. His disclosure began a series of public-accountability leaks, the most famous of which was Daniel Ellsberg's leak of the Pentagon Papers. These disclosures, the FBI's notorious abuses in COINTELPRO, and the Watergate leaks taught Americans that the national-security system can take profoundly dangerous constitutional turns. They formed the foundation of the political will that led to the passage of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in 1978. And although Ellsberg and his collaborator Anthony Russo were prosecuted, their cases were dismissed.

FLASHBACK - US Vaccines Caused 'Spanish Flu'

"The 1918 'Spanish Flu' started in American military Camp Funston, Fort Riley, USA amongst troops making ready for W.W.I - taking on board vaccinations, recruit training and all. It eventually killed about 40,000,000 people worldwide. That flu strain only appeared briefly once again, according to the US Atlanta CDC. This was in 1976 and again it struck at the US army camp Fort Dix, USA, amongst recently vaccinated troops (and no one else EVER); Fort Dix is known to have been a vaccine trial centre. Was the world's greatest 'influenza' scourge another well-hidden vaccine disaster?"---John P Heptonstall

Webmaster's Commentary:

The 1918 flu pandemic was proclaimed the "Spanish Flu" even though it clearly did not originate in Spain. This suggests that even back then, something was being covered up.

This is worth recalling now that multiple sources have identified the Kenema bioweapons lab in Sierra Leone, operated by Fort Detrick and biologists from Tulane University (but now closed and under investigation by the Sierra Leone government), as the starting point for the current Ebola outbreak and that an Ebola vaccine being tested either accidentally or deliberately triggered the disease.

Innocent Staunton motorist caught in seizure net

The traffic stop on that balmy afternoon in August 2012 was the beginning of a dizzying encounter that would leave Stuart shaken and wondering whether he had been singled out because he was black and had a police record.

Over the next two hours, he would be detained without charges, handcuffed and taken to a nearby police station. He also would be stripped of $17,550 in cash — money that he had earned through Smoking Roosters, a small barbecue restaurant he owned in Staunton, Va. Stuart said he was going to use the money that night for supplies and equipment.

The reason for the police stop: Stuart's SUV had tinted windows and a video was playing in his sightline. He was never charged with a crime, and there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. But police took his money because they assumed it was related to the drug trade.

U.S. Army Preparing for Civil Unrest

Guess who's coming to dinner? The Coucil on Foreign Relations

President Obama hosted "a private dinner with a group of foreign policy experts," the White House announced last night. Among them: Sandy Berger, who was caught stealing and destroying classified documents that related to President Clinton's record on terrorism issues.

"Former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger was sentenced Thursday to community service and probation and fined $50,000 for illegally removing highly classified documents from the National Archives and intentionally destroying some of them," CNN reported in 2005.

"Berger must perform 100 hours of community service and pay the fine as well as $6,905 for the administrative costs of his two-year probation, a district court judge ruled."

Ronald A. Cass, in 2007, noted that Berger took extraordinary steps to cover up his crime:

Webmaster's Commentary:

This little confab makes me extraordinarily nervous about what this Administration has planned to "sell" the American people on the coming war against ISIS.

I, for one, am not buying.

And this constant, verbal, IV "drip" of Obama's assurance that there will be "no US troops in the ground" in Iraq is rather sickening my stomach, rather than having the desired effect, and here is why.

The President, Congress, State Department, and Pentagon should have learned, after the debacle which was the Vietnam War, that you cannot win what is essentially a ground war from the air.

And I would like to politely suggest that one of the classic definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, in precisely the same way, yet expecting a different outcome.

So I have to wonder two things: is the alleged "war" against Isis a cover for going back into Iraq, and ultimately Syria?!? The short answer is, absolutely yes.

Are we going to see this alleged "strategy" of "no US boots on the ground" escalate, and fast, to not only having a substantial number of US military boots on the ground but reinstituting a draft?!?

Were I a betting woman, I would not bet against those last two scenarios.

Anti-Maidan activists blast Yabloko party over US-funded protests

Representatives of the recently-founded anti-Maidan council claim that the veteran pro-democracy party has received millions from the US and plans to overthrow the Russian government with the help of Ukrainian and Georgian spin doctors.

The head of the Anti-Fascist anti-Maidan council, Evgeny Shabayev has told the popular mass circulation daily Izvestia that his group possessed information about Ukrainian and Georgian citizens who played major roles in preparations to the violent events leading to displacement of governments and dissolution of parliaments in these countries – the so-called ‘color revolutions’. Now these people arrive in Russia and start talks with representatives of the pro-democracy opposition party Yabloko and other opposition groups in order to prepare and launch a similar regime change in Russia, the activist claimed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Since the end of World War 2, the US Government has tried to covertly overthrow the governments of more than fifty other nations, succeeding about half of the time. Known successes are Iran in 1953 and Chile in 1973. Known failures include Iran in 2009 and arguably Libya and Ukraine today.

US banks suddenly close dozens of accounts, Muslim group suspects racial profiling

Dozens in the US have received notices that their bank accounts have been closed, without explanation. Some say the banks are trying to eliminate risk, but a Muslim civil rights group suspects racist policies and has complained to the Justice Department.

Dozens of Indiana residents arrested for harvesting ginseng plants too early

INDIANA — A number of Hoosiers are facing charges and potential jail-time for merely possessing ginseng plants without government permission.

According to media reports, a total of 25 residents were caught up in a government crackdown to ensure compliance with the state’s onerous regulations on the natural plant, desired for its roots.

Indiana dictates every aspect of ginseng cultivation, including the issuance of a state license to “deal” ginseng; prescribing the dates of permissible harvesting; specifying the required plant characteristics before harvesting; controlling where and how it can be grown; controlling when and how it can be harvested; and controlling when, where and how it can be sold.

“It is ILLEGAL to buy, sell, or possess any ginseng out of season without written authorization from the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Law Enforcement,” states an official brochure from the Indiana DNR.

Decades of federal government ‘cost-plus’ contracts increase taxpayer costs 2, 3, 4+ times

*hyperlinks live at source*
guest blog by “Captains America” (bio below)

The biggest issue with federal government purchasing is the use of cost-plus contracts. This should be an issue that most people agree with regardless of their political leanings.

Cost-plus contracts are a way for government acquisition professionals to pass on research and development risks to the taxpayers. The acquisition professionals cause this risk to taxpayers through two different actions: 1. Writing poor system requirements and 2. Not contracting for the proper lab work, experimentation, and prototyping for new technologies. Essentially, programs are going forward for full funding without the proper engineering and scientific effort being conducted to refine new designs and catch unforeseen problems with new technologies. There are programs funded that contain requirements for technologies that don't even exist in a proven prototype.

Preparing To Asset-strip Local Governments? The Fed’s Bizarre New Rules

In an inscrutable move that has alarmed state treasurers, the Federal Reserve, along with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, just changed the liquidity requirements for the nation’s largest banks. Municipal bonds, long considered safe liquid investments, have been eliminated from the list of high-quality liquid collateral. assets (HQLA). That means banks that are the largest holders of munis are liable to start dumping them in favor of the Treasuries and corporate bonds that do satisfy the requirement.

Why would regulators dangerously jeopardize state and local government budgets in this way? Skeptical observers speculate that the intent is to Detroit-ize municipal governments, so that assets can be stripped as is being done in that imperiled city. The international bankers got away with asset-stripping Greece. Why not make the US itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of private banking interests?

Webmaster's Commentary:

At the risk of sounding like a chipped CD, please have no more money in the bank than you need to handle bills; keep the rest under your personal control.

Find resources from which you can purchase small amounts of gold and silver.

Don't have anything stored in a bank deposit box, because in times of a "financial emergency", the Federal Government now has the right to expropriate whatever they find in those boxes.

Folks, something wicked this way comes, economically; the best you can do is be as prepared for it in the most intelligent way possible.

Why we love to hate conspiracy theories: 911 Truth as threat to the intelligentsia

What ever happened to “war is a racket” and “follow the money”?

In rigorous compliance with the true meanings of “academic freedom” [2] and “freedom of the press” virtually no academics or mainstream journalists have made it their research to find truth or to radically (at the root) question the establishment version.

Indeed, all the major and considered-radical academic pundits such as Noam Chomsky and Ward Churchill, have actively avoided the possibility that the 911 attacks could have been known or aided from within the finance-corporate-military complex.

What keeps them from crossing that line? What makes them demean attempts to cross that line? [3]

“Civility” is the Israel lobby’s new weapon against free speech on US campuses

As I was driving through Indiana en route to Michigan this weekend, I saw this billboard for a local sheriff’s election campaign. There, above the uniformed police officer with his military-style crew cut, is the slogan “Return to Civility.”

It seemed the perfect metaphor for what “civility” has come to mean on US campuses: the forceful policing, at the behest of Israel lobby groups, of any discourse or activism critical of Israel.

In the wake of Israel’s latest Gaza massacre, the civility police are cracking down hard. Most notoriously, administrators and trustees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have used the excuse of “civility” to fire Steven Salaita for his strong criticisms of, among other things, Israel’s slaughter of hundreds of children in Gaza.

But civility crackdowns are now breaking out across the country. Another alarming case involves a student at Ohio University.

US Throws up Roadblocks for Those Wishing to Leave

Janet Phelan
Activist Post

The word is out. People are leaving the US in droves.

The latest FBI NICS list of American citizens who have expatriated shows a spike in individuals who have renounced their US citizenship.

The list, published quarterly, provides a grand total of 2,193 such renunciants since the end of last year. 2013 resulted in a total of 2,999 renunciants, which constituted a 221% increase over those who left in 2012. And we are just half way through 2014.

The NICS list, however, appears to be incomplete. For starters, NICS only lists renunciants, not relinquishers. And yes, there is a difference. Renouncing requires swearing an oath in front of an official of the US government and now has a $2,350 fee attached to it, a recent increase of 422%. Relinquishing does not require the involvement of a US government official but instead involves making one of a number of acts which result in forfeiting one’s US citizenship...

Police intelligence targets cash

During the rush to improve homeland security a decade ago, an invitation went out from Congress to a newly retired California highway patrolman named Joe David. A lawmaker asked him to brief the Senate on how highway police could keep “our communities safe from terrorists and drug dealers.”

David had developed an uncanny talent for finding cocaine and cash in cars and trucks, beginning along the remote highways of the Mojave Desert. His reputation had spread among police officers after he started a training firm in 1989 to teach his homegrown stop-and-seizure techniques. He called it Desert Snow.

Bank clients of Middle Eastern descent want answers on closed accounts

From Washington state to Florida, surprising letters from banks have turned up in the mailboxes of at least a dozen people..

The message in each case: Your bank account is being closed. What frustrates the recipients is not only that they are all of Middle Eastern descent — leading them to suspect discrimination — but that the banks refused to provide the reason for kicking them out.

"We never understood what's going on," said AbdulHyee Waqas, who had his Bellevue, Wash., nonprofit group's account closed. "We had been a good customer. It was very disheartening."

Last summer, a Minneapolis dentist went so far as to write detailed explanations of all his transactions, hoping that TCF Bank would let him reopen the joint account with his wife and his personal account. The response: Sorry, we're not interested in your business.

Israel rejects New Zealand's proposed ambassador

Israeli regime has refused to accept Zealand’s ambassador-designate Jonathan Curr because of his contacts with Palestinians, officials say.

New Zealand officials said on Monday that Tel Aviv had refused to accept their latest appointment to the post. Sources say Curr was scheduled to travel to Israel within the coming days to present his official documents.

Senior Israeli authorities have announced that they would not accept any ambassador who was also a representative to the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Israeli Foreign Ministry sources have said that unless Curr will remove his "dual credentials," he will not be allowed to act as an ambassador to Israel.

America Can't Pay for Its Wars, Analysis Says

America can no longer afford all of its wars and military adventures abroad.

That’s the argument put forward by a nonpartisan budget analysis expressing concern over an apparent disconnect between the Defense Department, which has submitted its new budget for fiscal year 2015, and Congress, whose inability to balance a budget and agree on deficit levels has triggered automatic cuts that have slashed military spending to the bone and beyond.

Latest IRS email loss evidence of out of control government under Obama

The latest report on Friday describing suspected lawless behavior by the United States' most powerful law enforcement agency is being characterized as an arrogant and cynical insult to the intellect of the American people and evidence of out of control government under Barack Obama.

Officials from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) -- an organization known for its sometimes questionable, ruthless pursuit of taxpayers -- told members of a House of Representatives' committee on Friday that five additional workers allegedly linked to the agency’s Tea Party and conservative targeting scandal appear to have lost emails due to computer problems.

Human failure to recognize, reject, and remember evil: essential topic for the 99.99%’s victory

*hyperlinks live at source*
Around 1969 as a young boy, I looked-up the definition of the word, evil. I found something like, “Preference and actions for one’s own material wealth over the well-being of others.”

I’ve always remembered that definition as the one that made the most sense. I’ve never found it again in more modern dictionaries.

In 2007, Stephen Zarlenga (Executive Director, AMI) asked my opinion: “Carl, do you think there’s some kind of ‘slave gene’ that explains people worshipping the very leaders crushing them?” I responded, “Maybe. There’s plenty of consideration that the ‘human animal’ has a fear-reflex and reptilian brain function attracted to hierarchies. We certainly find this fear and system-worship in our work for monetary reform.”

Today, considering our human condition, we observe:

Truth of the Universe. There are no religions, countries, cultures, race or any divisions. Our Universal Rights of Freedom

What is the Truth? The truth is, we have gone down the path of immorality, which is again not defined by any man made law or religion, but defined by God. We have allowed others to 'lord' over us when it is not their right to. We have allowed the brainwashing of believing those in government/churches/royalty/ etc are better and above us, thus they can make the rules for what we are allowed to do.

I had realized how we are all slaves to authority and that we have to live by laws those at the top do not. Just as we have to pay taxes and will go to jail and have our things taken away if we do not, yet Timothy Geithner our previous Treasury Secretary and lots of the big corporations and individuals in government do not pay taxes.

Why is there one law for them and another for us? Why is it this is allowed?

Celebrity photo leak: Fake links to nude photos cause nationwide internet crash in New Zealand

New Zealanders keen to view hacked photos of naked celebrities have been blamed for a nationwide internet meltdown involving the country's main provider.

It is believed a handful of computer users clicked links on Friday evening believing they would be taken to the illicit images, but instead caused them to inadvertently install malware, triggering a crippling internet attack.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A test to take down the internet during the next false-flag attack?

There is no way the perpetrators of a new 9-11 can allow the independent media to operate during a false-flag, lest we find and report the signs of fraud. Remember that in the weeks ahead of 9-11, the FBI was shutting down Muslim websites here in the US, to prevent the victims of the coming frame-up from defending themselves while the official story was implanted into the population.

And the fact that this shut down was confined by the planted malware to only New Zealand suggests it was an operational test.

So don't start clicking links to see naked celebrities this next week.

LA Times Journalist Cleared Articles With CIA Before Publishing

A former Los Angeles Times national security journalist routinely sent drafts of his articles to CIA press handlers for input and revision, the Intercept revealed on Friday.

Email exchanges between Ken Dilanian and public relations officers at the agency were discovered after the Intercept sent a FOIA request to the CIA over its relationship with reporters. In many of the emails, Dilanian promised to provide the agency with positive coverage, often going so far as to change entire drafts of articles based on the CIA's replies.

Patriot Act’s absurd new spawn: Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse

Congress may be preparing to reinforce two horrible FISA Court decisions and an abusive government search with no debate in the coming weeks: a decision to give national security orders unlimited breadth, one making it legal for the government to investigate Americans for activities protected under the First Amendment, and the FBI’s “back door” searches of Americans’ communication content collected under the FISA Amendment Act Section 702 authority.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Congress is most likely giving this approval because they know what these governmental agencies have on them!

Remember Chief Justice Robert's "flip-flop" on Obamacare?!? I am still rather curious as to precisely what "inspired" his change of heart!! :-)

And right after, he slipped out of the country for awhile so he couldn't be questioned on his reversal.

On The Brink Of A Major Crisis: “This Will Be A Literal Collapse of the Entire Global Monetary System”

Discussions of the possible collapse of the U.S. dollar often center around how such an event will affect the domestic economy. But the dollar doesn’t just operate inside of a bubble. It is the world’s reserve currency for a reason. Some sixty-six countries world-wide either utilize it as their primary currency or peg their own currencies to its exchange rate. What this means, as noted by Future Money Trends in the micro documentary below, is that if and when the dollar does come under attack the fallout will be everywhere. The collapse will happen simultaneously and affect billions of people worldwide.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are 196 nations on Earth. If only 66 are tied to the US dollar, then by definition the US dollar has already lost the status of a "global" currency.

Lap Dancers, the CIA, Pay-offs, and BP’s Deepwater Horizon

The BP executive was explaining to me how the CIA, MI6 and British Petroleum engineered a coup d'état, overthrowing an elected president of a nation who was “not favorable to BP.” The corporation's former Vice-President, Leslie Abrahams, is pictured here, holding an AK-47 in front of BP headquarters in Baku, Azerbaijan. Like most of the other BP executives I spoke with, he proudly added that while he was working for BP, he was also an operative for MI6, British intelligence.
The conversation was far from the weirdest I had in my four-continent investigation of the real story of the Deepwater Horizon.

The BP oilrig blew out on April 20, 2010, four years ago this Sunday.

Why Ferguson, Boston bombing, OKC, and 9/11 are part of the same plan for domestic control

The raid against the woman and her daughter isn’t an isolated incident. It’s happening every day across the country. And it isn’t happening in a vacuum. It’s part of a long-term plan to control the population through disinformation, deception, fear, and force. In the bigger picture, this plan incorporates government-backed false flag operations like the Oklahoma City bombing, the 9/11 “attacks,” and the Boston Marathon bombing.

These “terror” events, and numerous others like them, were designed to create a false threat that would encourage people to accept the tightening fist of the police state. The elites who really run things are constructing this police state in ways that include the militarization of police as well as the increasing use of technology for surveillance and data gathering. The media occasionally raise mild “concerns” about this but do little else.

Religious Test

The original, unamended Constitution contains one explicit reference to religion: the Article VI ban on religious tests for "any office or public trust under the United States." Despite much litigation over the constitutional border between church and state, there have been no judicial decisions involving the religious test ban. The clause has been entirely self-executing. We do not know whether the Framers intended the clause to apply to every federal officeholder, howsoever minor; but no federal official has ever been subjected to a formal religious test for holding office.

Andrew Cuomo: Debates Can Be 'A Disservice To Democracy'

With just four days until New York's gubernatorial primary, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and his running mate Kathy Hochul have yet to publicly acknowledge their most prominent Democratic challengers, Zephyr Teachout and her running mate Tim Wu -- beyond trying to have Teachout's name removed from the ballot, that is.

“I would like to challenge Kathy Hochul and Andrew Cuomo: say our names,” Wu said Thursday. “They seem to be unable to realize that we even exist.”

Cuomo has declined to participate in a debate with Teachout despite her repeated calls to do so. When asked what it says about his "respect for democracy," the governor claimed such open discussions can actually hinder the democratic process.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has Governor Cuomo gone absolutely barking mad, to have made that statement?!?

That kind of remark is something one expects to come out of the mouth of a two bit, tin-pot dictator.

Or is he terrified that, on the issues, perhaps these challengers have some positive, can-do approaches about how to build an environment which will enrich the opportunities for businesses to thrive in this state.

Governor Cuomo, your fear and narcissism are showing; and I can assure you that those are not the kinds of emotions the voters of New York want to see from their candidates right now.

The Pentagon Is Giving Grenade Launchers to Campus Police

In 1968, students at Columbia University staged a mass uprising other college campuses in protesting not just the war in Vietnam, but their school’s collaboration with the Institute for Defense Analysis, a Defense Department affiliate that researches weapons technologies. Today, weapons produced by that institute are used by the US military throughout the world—and by campus police forces across the country. The war has come home.

The Pentagon’s 1033 program, which allows the Defense Department to unload its excess military equipment onto local police forces, has quietly overflowed onto college campuses. According to documents obtained by the website Muckrock, more than 100 campus police forces have received military materials from the Pentagon. Schools that participate in the program range from liberal arts to community colleges to the entire University of Texas system. Emory, Rice, Perdue, and the University of California, Berkeley, are all on the list.

Censorship Challenge: Texas Pastor Seeks Restrictions On `Dangerous' Library Books

KTRK-TV in Houston reports that Pastor Phillip Missick of King of Saints Tabernacle, is complaining about several books in the Austin Memorial Library. Not surprisingly, the tomes Missick has targeted deal with supernatural themes.

Apparently, the vampire craze that populates much young-adult fiction is still going strong. This bothers Missick. He is especially disturbed by the Twilight series and similar books titled Blood Promise and Vampire Knight.

Missick is coming to this a little late. The Twilight books are nine years old. (Ironically, the woman who authored them is a Mormon, and many people believe the underlying message of the series is conservative.) But he has decided to jump right in.

CDC caught in billion-dollar scheme to to sell vaccines

This is precisely the state of affairs at the Centers for Disease Control. The agency is, first and foremost, a PR machine. It promotes products. For example: vaccines.

he was illustrating a primary mission of his employer, the CDC: spread propaganda assuring the public that vaccines are safe.

Science? Are you kidding? The “research” effort of the CDC is just another way to do PR.

Guatemala Rejects U.S. Trade Law Protecting Monsanto and GMOs

Big Biotech's promise to feed the world, by squeezing out every other choice against the will of the impoverished people intended as the target - is beyond cruel and exploitative. It is another way that the U.S. occupies other countries. How else are other people in these countries supposed to view multiple soft-sanctions on food, but as an act of war?

The people of Guatemala caught on to the deceptive nature of a U.S. Trade Agreement with Central America which was marketed as a way to "modernize" them. It also pretends to protect new seed varieties and paints the seed bearers in need of protection as small farmers. It is actually a way for big biotech and seed companies like Monsanto, DuPont, Duwest, Syngenta, etc. to assume power and immunity as owners of their food supply.

Greek workers stage anti-austerity demonstration in Thessaloniki

Hundreds of people have held a peaceful demonstration in northern Greece to denounce austerity measures that the government has imposed to appease foreign creditors to help cap the country’s deepening debt crisis.

On Friday, about 2,000 police officers, firefighters and coast guards took to streets in the city of Thessaloniki to voice their anger at pay cuts and government plans to merge their pension funds under a major pension reform.

The protest came on the eve of Thessaloniki Trade Fair opening.

Other labor and political groups are planning to hold demonstrations in the city on Saturday.

Debt-laden Greece hopes to exit a six-year recession this year. The country nearly went bankrupt in 2010, only to survive on international rescue packages.

When NSA and FBI call for surveillance takeout, these companies deliver

Not every Internet provider can handle the demands of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant or law enforcement subpoena for data. For those companies, Zack Whittaker reports on ZDNet, the answer is to turn to a shadowy class of companies known as “trusted third parties” to do the black bag work of complying with the demands of the feds.

Under the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), phone companies and Internet providers can charge back the government for their efforts in responding to warrants. AT&T charges the CIA more than $10 million per year for access to its phone call metadata. But smaller ISPs who aren’t frequently hit with warrants can’t afford to keep the infrastructure or manpower on-hand to respond to requests—so they sign up with a “trusted third party” capable of doing the work as an insurance policy against such requests.

Shabak Strikes Again: Another Palestinian Disappeared on Security Charges

An Israeli source informed me earlier today that the Shabak arrested Muhammad Mahajna a few days ago. He is a young Israeli Palestinian (in his 20s) from Umm al-Fahm . A month ago he was arrested and questioned for postings published to his Facebook page during the Gaza war. He was then released. But four days ago, the secret police broke into his home and arrested him again.

No one has explained the nature of the charges against him. Though my source tells me they are “more serious” than those involving the previous Facebook posts. He is being held incommunicado. He has had no access to an attorney and the case is under gag order. No Israeli publication may write about his case.

Americans will soon be barred from boarding airplanes unless they surrender to federal 'Real ID' card

Residents of nine states who attempt to use their driver's license to enter some government agency offices will be denied, because their legislatures have not agreed to accept a federal law called REAL ID. In fact, according to The Boston Globe, if those states do not accept the law, residents will also eventually lose their ability to use driver's licenses to board commercial flights.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, so legal Americans citizens are having to jump through hoops to prove they are legal American citizens, and may be denied boarding flights and entering Federal Buildings if they fail, at the same time illegal immigrants are being flooded into the nation, offered financial support, amnesty, and flown/bussed all over the place at taxpayer expense. Cameron seems to be considering breaking International law, not once but twice.

First he is considering arming the Kurds in Iraq without the permission from the Iraqi Government. Perhaps he thinks there really is a Kurdistan.

ISIS, ISIL or IS is armed, funded and trained by the USA. Their objective in Iraq is to totally destabalise the nation and weakening it by splitting it into three, part Kurd, part Iraqi and the remainder an Islamic Caliphate.

Secondly he’s openly suggesting that the UK should bomb parts of Syria without the permission of the Syrian Government , not any different in the slightest with Blair’s illegal invasion of Iraq. Cameron declares the Assad Government to be illegitimate.

That being the case in his mind, means that not a country in the world is safe from invasion or attack, Cameron can simply declare the Government to be illegitimate.

According to ACLU of New Jersey Legal Director Ed Barocas, a draft ordinance being considered by the borough council that would force visitors to municipal buildings to obtain a permit before taking photos or video is “definitely subject to a legal challenge.”

“This is far too broad,” adds Barocas. “The idea that you would have to let the government know and to get approval to spontaneously obtain or disseminate information is a serious intrusion on free speech and freedom of the press.”

UK, US and Israel spy on Middle-East from Cyprus

Telecommunications in Turkey and the entire Middle-East are being monitored from listening stations based on the Eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus, a senior Turkish Cypriot lawyer has claimed.

Former Union of Bars head for Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) capital Lefkosa (Nicosia) and writer, Baris Mamali, warned that the island of Cyprus could be dragged into the wars in the Middle-East due to it being a listening post for a number of Western intelligence agencies including the CIA, the NSA, Mossad and MI6.

In his column published on Thursday by OdaTV, Mamali claimed that the British military air base in Akrotiri was not only hosting four fleets of war planes but also a large electronic intelligence facility in addition to specially designated areas for the storage of nuclear weapons. Mamali further claimed that a second British base in Dhekelia contains two intelligence stations in which intercepted information is deciphered and analyzed by a team of experts.

Woman charged nearly $1000 for cell phone ticket in CA Court ponzi scheme

In the latest example of government rot gone mad, a woman earning $8 an hour at a supermarket has been fined nearly $1000 for a cell phone ticket in California. Originally from Colorado, she was out in CA for the winter visiting her family when an officer saw her holding her cell phone and cited her. On January 6, 2014, Joanna W. was cited by motorcycle cop Purdy (#117) in Contra Costa County, CA for "holding her cell phone in her hand with an earbud." The woman, who had not even pled not guilty and never denied talking on her phone, relays the nightmare story of what happened when she tried to go pay the ticket.

US Boots in Iraq and Baltics, Authorization to Attack Syria…and US Troops in Ukraine!

As the NATO summit in Wales kicks off today, with an expected agreement to create a “spearhead” force of up to 5,000 troops to rapidly deploy to any “hotspot” in eastern Europe, we learn that the US will also send several hundred troops to participate in NATO military exercises in Ukraine later this month. The exercises, provocatively named “Rapid Trident,” are said to be “a sign of the commitment of NATO states to support non-NATO member Ukraine…”

Kiev Coup is Collapsing

Kiev’s casualties have been high, and the stories we have about the Ukrainian army field care are just horrible — like amputations without anesthetic, and wounded soldiers being exploited to pay for supplies and care. Those fortunate enough to have families that could come to get them have brought the stories of corruption and incompetency back to the rear areas. The result was the big protests we saw in Kiev this week. We even have reports of masses of women lying down in the streets to block convoys.

In the middle of all of this, Poroshenko invented a new democracy tactic, dismissing Parliament to eliminate his opposition. This also killed any official calls for investigations into the ongoing strategy debacle. Entire brigades have started to desert now, with the Palace Guard special forces (who have not been fighting) being sent out to try to round them up. That is a precursor to a real civil war, if those units can get to a supply base.

California's Man-Made Drought

The state's water emergency is unfolding thanks to the latest mishandling of the Endangered Species Act. Last December, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued what is known as a "biological opinion" imposing water reductions on the San Joaquin Valley and environs to safeguard the federally protected hypomesus transpacificus, a.k.a., the delta smelt. As a result, tens of billions of gallons of water from mountains east and north of Sacramento have been channelled away from farmers and into the ocean, leaving hundreds of thousands of acres of arable land fallow or scorched.

Helmetta council mulls photo limits following cop video scandal

Following the resignation of a borough police officer after being caught on video making controversial statements about President Barack Obama, the borough council is considering new legislation that could make it harder for residents to use smartphones inside public buildings.

Exempting public meetings, the proposed ordinance will prevent visitors to Helmetta's municipal buildings from taking video or photographs without an approved permit.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One of the founding principles of this nation is that it is a nation of laws that apply to all equally. Yet here we see government watching us with TV cameras, reading our emails, listening to our phone calls, while telling us that we may not dare take pictures or videos of them while they are working on the public payroll!

Operation Choke Point could soon grip casinos

It has already hit gun and ammunition dealers. It has shut down pawnshops and short-term lenders. It has caused banks to discharge potentially thousands from their customer rolls who’ve done nothing illegal or improper. The next casualty will be America’s casino and gaming industry.

Operation Choke Point is a government program that the U.S. Department of Justice has said was designed to combat fraud in the marketplace, but its impact has been felt among law-abiding, legitimate businesses far more than unscrupulous bad actors. Operation Choke Point is a joint DOJ and FDIC program that allows these federal agencies to intimidate banks and payment processors into ending financial relationships with lawfully operating businesses. The casino industry is the next target.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Choke point is another US Government botch-up like the no-fly list, which has some 21,000 people on it even though no actual terrorist has been caught trying to board a US aircraft since 9-11. The government is harming the innocent, failing to catch the guilty, and has the arrogance to demand that you pay for this abuse!

Emergency Motion Filed To Block BLM Horse Roundup

“It is undisputed that this proposed roundup will remove hundreds of wild horses from public lands and that BLM has not even purported to comply with any of the statutory requirements set forth by Congress in … the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act…, which are mandatory prerequisites before a single wild horse may be removed from public lands. This is the first time in its more than four decades of implementing the [Wild Horse Act] that BLM has sought to remove wild horses from public land without first complying with the express statutory dictates of [the law] and without conducting any environmental analysis whatsoever under the National Environmental Policy Act.

Accordingly, the decision under review involves important legal questions …, the resolution of which will have profound implications for BLM’s future management of our nation’s federally protected wild horses.”

Who's Telling the 'Big Lie' on Ukraine?

f you wonder how the world could stumble into World War III – much as it did into World War I a century ago – all you need to do is look at the madness that has enveloped virtually the entire U.S. political/media structure over Ukraine where a false narrative of white hats vs. black hats took hold early and has proved impervious to facts or reason.

The original lie behind Official Washington’s latest “group think” was that Russian President Vladimir Putin instigated the crisis in Ukraine as part of some diabolical scheme to reclaim the territory of the defunct Soviet Union, including Estonia and other Baltic states. Though not a shred of U.S. intelligence supported this scenario, all the “smart people” of Washington just “knew” it to be true.

Did Hitler really put fluoride in the water at concentration camps? If so why do we put it in are water?

Yes, fluoride was used in Nazi Concentration camps and the gulags in Siberia to make prisoners docile and easier to control. It is also absorbed through the skin when bathing, showering, or swimming in fluoridated water. You absorb through the tissues of your mouth when brushing your teeth. You don't have to swallow it. Cooking with fluoride in water concentrates it in food and beverages. You can't cook it out. Only 50% of it can be excretes by the body so it is a cumulative toxin leading to many health problems. Twenty-four studies have also shown it lowers IQ's in children.

In Kentucky, despite a 1977 fluoridation state-wide mandate, preschoolers cavity rates went from 28% in 1987 to 47% in 2001, according to the July/August 2003 journal, Pediatric Dentistry,

WORLD EXCLUSIVE: STEVEN SOTLOFF’S LINKS TO MOSSAD & CIA

Sotloff’s close links to Israeli counter-intelligence, emergence from same stable as Foley, and equally amazing ability to be ‘on the spot’ to cover Black Arts events in Middle East
That Steven Sotloff is Jewish isn’t exactly a secret. But what many media titles this morning have glossed over is that he studied at Tel Aviv’s Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) before beginning his career. Located on the same campus at the core of of IDCs philosophy is the International Institute for Counter Terrorism. Its links to Mossad are well known. The Slog tries to join up some dots.

Having watched the second ‘beheading’ video and looked into Mr Sotloff’s background, my aim – as with James Foley’s apparent execution – is to offer key observations that I find significant:

Goon Thugs and Gullible Conservatives — Paul Craig Roberts

conclusion: It has long been known that power attracts bullies and psychopaths and that the less
accountable power is the more unrestrained its use will be. Given this fact, it is impossible to comprehend the stupidity of government that gave the go ahead to the militarization of the police. The police are taught that their lives are so important–exceptional lives–that no risk whatsoever must be taken with them, even when confronting elderly women and children.

The consequence of this training is to elevate the role of violence in police encounters. The police are trained to ensure that the citizen bears all the risks of a police confrontation even in instances in which citizens are incapable of harming the police.

In my opinion, it was a felony to train police to abuse their authority and the public. We need to find out who is responsible and to bring class action suits seeking restitution against the criminals who trained the police to become a deadly threat to the public.
